I had a great time on my tour of the Blackwater! My guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife, we saw tons of osprey and eagles. It was a fun tour, I would highly recommend to anyone in the area!

My four kids and I had the absolute best time renting bikes with Blackwater Adventures. They were so lovely and accommodating and this was my favorite part of our trip to Cambridge.

We had an amazing time kayaking. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. The kayaks were in great condition and clean. We saw herons, a white pelican, osprey, carp spawning, a muskrat, and even a bald eagle in it's nest and many flying in the sky!!

Blackwater Adventures Chesapeake does an amazing job of introducing visitors to the profound beauty of the Little Blackwater River. Our guide Casey was a delight to be with, and her great knowledge of the waterway and reverence for nature added to an unforgettable experience. After a thorough orientation and safety talk, we paddled off to explore the fascinating home of muskrats, ospreys and a juvenile eagle - all thriving just a few short minutes from the launch point. From Casey, we also got a sense of what life is like in Dorchester county and how important the preservation of open spaces and coastal marshes is to those lucky enough to live there. We plan to return to explore further.

Had a great time here with the scouts. Very friendly people that handled a large crowd well. Boat rental was easy and it was an overall fantastic experience. They offer a great quick lesson. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Everyone had a great time!

This was great! Smoothly run and a beautiful trip. My wife is new to kayaking and, wanting to spend more time with her, we started at Blackwater Adventures. They were professional, the equipment was clean and well kept. Sue M. was our tour guide and wow did she know much about the area. Great time was had by all! Will recommend!

We loved kayaking at both sites and particularly enjoyed having Jamie as a guide. Her local knowledge of things was invaluable. You should really advertise the heron rookery on Shoal Creek because seeing and hearing that from the water is a once in a lifetime.

My fiancee and I had an absolutely amazing time here!Very easy to book online and pay ahead. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, they recommended several spots to check out while we were out kayaking on our own. Saw tons of wildlife and enjoyed a wonderful day out on the river. This was our last stop on a long weekend trip before we headed home and was easily the highlight. I hope to be back to rent fishing kayaks with a few friends later this year.

My sons and I have come here several times over the last couple years to fish and kayak. This scenery is beautiful and the family who operates the business just couldn t be any nicer. Highly recommend!

We purchased the Kayak/Layton s Chance package on October 13, 2023. It was a wonderful experience. Casey with Blackwater Adventures and William, the Winemaker at Layton s Chance were awesome. We also loved Buffy and Lucky the sweetest winery dogs ever!

Our kayaking tour with Blackwater Adventures was phenomenal. The area is gorgeous and full of wildlife. The staff was incredibly helpful. Matt welcomed us and got us excited about our trip. Our guide Mike was the highlight of the tour. The beauty of the area stands on its own, but Mike's knowledge of the history and ecology of the area was what made this a 5 star experience. He was great with our young daughter and made us feel confident in the water even though we had never kayaked before. I would very much like to experience one of the other tours Blackwater offers in the future. I highly recommend.

My sister, a friend, and I did the two hour tour with Frank as our guide and had a marvelous time. We saw a lot of birds, heard a lot of interesting local history, and got in about four miles of kayaking. It was a great way to get to enjoy some of the many things Cambridge has to offer.

The kayaks were great- so comfortable and secure. The owner and her daughter were very helpful and gave us a lesson which clearly helped my rowing and experience in the water.

This was a great experience! Excellent paddle on calm, flat, shallow water. We saw more bald eagles than I could keep count of, three eagle nests, a green heron, an egret, some blue heron...The list goes on!

Very nice setting, high-quality and comfortable kayaks (backpain afterward not required :) and gear, good environmental orientation by the accompanying guide. We were a group of a dozen people and everyone was very pleased with the experience. Kayaking is probably the best way to visit the area to see wildlife, as you can get relatively close to nesting areas of eagles and ospreys. Highly recommended!

Our kayak ride on Shoal creek with Susan was perfect. My husband and I got to see an eagle and blue and green heron. Susan was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and shared interesting stories about the area. Susan was friendly and fun to be with. We were worried about he heat but there was a cool breeze on the water. I definitely recommend this tour.

Our guide was quite knowledgable and did a great job. We were doing a trial kayak cruise in preparation for taking a large group of sailors on the same trip in 2024 and we we are certain our group will have as great an experience as we did.

At first, I was a little confused on where we were meeting for the tour. I didn't see the meetup location anywhere. However, after a quick phone call, we got everything straightened out and had a wonderful time! Jamie was so knowledgeable about the area, was so organized, and gave our group some once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I would recommend this group to anyone visiting the area as a must-do activity.

The guide Mike was amazing. Very informed about the ecology of the area. Always listening and aware of wildlife so he spotted many great birds including a green heron, which was so beautiful to see so close. and awe inspiring American eagles and ospreys. What an enormous eagles nest we saw. He was patient and understanding and engaged everyone on the trip. We all had so much fun and left with a greater appreciation of the habitat. Will definitely return for the choptank river adventure.

Blackwater Adventures and our driver Johnny were wonderful! Johnny was so sweet and great to chat with! We booked them to shuttle guests to and from our wedding and had an all around great experience.

The bikes were terrific for us (ages 76 and 82). They were ready when we arrived and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Seems like a very organized shop. We were thrilled that the shop was so close to the refuge for biking.

Friendly people, great service, and beautiful Chesapeake scenery! We paddled around the calm water for over an hour and spotted osprey, blue heron, and a nesting pair of bald eagles with their young. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and gave us a local's take on where to get the best crab. Highly recommend!

I thought our guide was really good. However, the group of 10 people and one guide was a bit unruly. There were about three kids and a dog and the rest were adults and we were spread out pretty far.It also was not as pretty as I thought it was going to be...plus a smelly sanitation processing plant. One person also had his radio on the whole time.It was not the tranquility I was hoping for.I think maybe there should have been some ground rule set like don't get too close to the osprey nest, try not to talk on your cell phone and don't have your radio on.I was looking forward to really learning more about the area and the wilderness. It would have been better on my own.Again the guide I believe her name was Kate was really good and did a good job given the group size, variety, etc etc. However, I think there should have been some ground rules for some quiet enjoyment. We have kayaked with this outfit or before and really liked it. We rented the kayaks on our own and went through the black water refuge. They did a wonderful job of picking us up etc. However, launching from the Hyatt with this group was not worth it from me.

Good access to water. A concrete ramp would be more beneficial for boats, but what they have is perfect for kayak.I wish they would allow small boat trailer parking.Easy way to pay the fee. $15/day would be more appropriate for the parking. The cost for daily parking is about $29 with tax.

A great experience! The setting was perfect for my first kayaking adventure, and Jamie was a phenomenal guide. Dorchester County's natural setting up close and personal. Highly recommend.
