I found this business when I was looking for car repair for my engine. I needed coils and spark plugs replace. So I ended up calling and talking to Jennifer and she is awesome. Super helpful, very responsive and really cares about what the company Does and how she helps her customers. Very fair on pricing and Jennifer will explain anything to you. Is the new owner and is so super nice. He gives you time and attention when talking with you and just is a solid individual. Great doing business with you!If you re looking for auto repair You will leave a very happy customer!!!

We scheduled an appointment for my mother's GMC truck to have the muffler replaced. We left the vehicle to be inspected and after it was inspected, Jennifer informed us that she checked with the GMC dealership and the part was discontinued, also the part was welded to the muffler and it required "specialty" rebuilding the muffler and it being welded. I didn't feel comfortable paying $140 for the inspection, so Jennifer accepted $100. Powertrain Auto Service is so blessed to have Jennifer. She is professional, customer service driven and patient in explaining everything and exceptional. I would give Powertrain a 10+ due to Jennifer being a vital part of the team. In addition, if I needed transmission or other work, I would definitely go to Powertrain Auto Service. Thank you Jennifer!

I've enjoyed my experience with the company and specifically Jennifer, who worked diligently to get to the source of car problems. I've since referred my son and he too has had a favorable experience. Will continue to entrust our safety and car maintenance to them.

Jennifer was great! What I have an issue with is 1. The first time I had work done they never hooked my passenger front light back up and found out it wasn't working in the rain when getting dark. Secondly had my vehicle come in for another issue (defroster) and I find out it's not fixed when I get in the car to use it! I have to take it back but don't have the time to do so and have my car held for another week. If it wasn't for Jennifer I would be in the blind. When fixing vehicles they need to do a run through checklist to make sure everything is working FULLY.

Wanted to give a lot of time to make sure everything worked perfectly. It's been about 2 years now. Purchased an engine and transmission for my Mazda 6, had it shipped here. It was installed and for the last 2 years I've had no problems.

First of all it has been a month ago that my wife (I m working) brought in my truck for diagnostics test and repairs were eventually needed. I spoke with and communicated with Ms Jennifer about my issues! She explained my question(s) and keep me informed of necessary parts/cost! Well, one month later no problems or any set back issues with my Honda Pilot SUV truck 2011! Just wanted to thank Jennifer ant the Power train team for your services and being professional though out this stressful time for truck repairs! I have a 2012 Fiat 500 and if you have one you know they're not easy working on. My ignition switch broke and another shop couldn't find the parts to fix it. So I brought it to Power Train and they got it done within budget and I couldn't be happier to be able to start my car we without a screwdriver lol. They were courteous and prompt. I highly recommend.

When I called Powertrain, I spoke to Jennifer who put my mind at ease as I am always concerned when taking my car in for work as I'd had a couple bad experiences over the years at other places. I had several questions and she was sure to get all of them answered. They were quick in getting back to me after looking at it as I requested, before starting the work. Again very helpful and got all my questions answered whether she had to check with a mechanic or the owner - they were all great! Work was completed quickly and I waited a couple months to post this to see that everything was still working great with this repair and it is. Would highly recommend this company.

I'm always nervous about taking my car someplace for repairs, but there was no reason to be with Powertrain. A few months back, I needed my radiator replaced, and they were the most economical by just a little. Plus, Jennifer was very helpful and friendly during the quote-getting process. I took my car in, and after they began to do the work, they realized that it was more involved than their pricing manual indicated, requiring more time as well as discharging and recharging the A/C system. Yet, they stuck to the original price!I waited to post this until after summer hit to see how my A/C would work in summer. Perfect. Radiator work is perfect, too.I highly recommend them!

Last week, I purchased tires on-line and shipped direct to a recommended installer, NOT Powertrain, for installation. During the tire installation process, that company advised me that I needed some work done to my car to the tune of $850. I told them to pass on the work and CONSULTED Powertrain Auto Service, Bowie, MD. Al, the owner, explained to me something was amiss with that price and the part that needed repair. I brought the car to them and Jennifer got me squared away on a busy Saturday. The technician checked what was supposed to be wrong with my car and did NOT find anything wrong. Basically, Powertrain helped me avoid being SCAMMED. THANK YOU!! Powertrain has serviced my cars, since 2005. Al, the owner, is very personable, professional, and knowledge about cars. You cannot beat the high level of integrity and competitive pricing at Powertrain. I highly recommend them for your repair needs!

Lack of professionalismLeft in a unsafe vehicleOverchargedCARMAX warranty referred me to Powertrain Auto Service. Jennifer was nice but overly dismissive and patronizing when you asked her questions at times. I was told to come test drive my truck within 30 mins of them closing after my truck was with them for 8 hours. Being they didn't hear the "grinding" noise I was hearing I wasn't charged anything. I went home and continued to drive my truck and even went out of town as well. This happened during the holidays in November 2021, in 2022 my check engine light came on so I took it back. I was also still hearing the "grinding" noise from my passenger side which I mentioned to them. I was told I wouldn't be charged the diagnostic fee IF the work is covered by warranty. At one point I would call back to check on my truck and I was put on hold for about 20 mins, I understood because they always appeared to be super busy. Eventually it was determined that my fuel pump needed to be replaced. My deductible is $250 I was told they also charge a fee of about $30 for "supplies and hazmat" which was standard. I went along with it. I was called the next day saying my truck also needed spark plugs that were not covered and the total was now almost $600 and if I needed the truck back that day to approve the work so she could order the parts. I was given about 15 mins to do my market research and budget. I called back about 30 mins later to be told that I wouldn't get my truck back until the next day. I get my truck and my bill (which I emailed to Powertrain) and I was charged the $120 diagnostic fee so I email Powertrain Auto about it and I get 4 or 5 calls from Jennifer " to explain my bill" at the time we suffered a loss of my niece who was murdered due to gun violence. I told Jennifer we had a family emergency and can she just respond to my email, of course she did not!! The grinding noise was still there -- why would I have to mention this AGAIN, when Powertrain never fixed the noise...and I could barely turn my steering wheel?? At this point not getting a response via email which I requested twice... I decided to try Johnny's Auto Repair in Lanham the noise was still active in my truck. I made the appointment online, and Mike from Johnny's Auto Repair called me back and said you need to bring your truck in sooner because the grinding noise could be "unsafe". So I did that, and within an hour and 1/2 I was called back and told that my "ball-bearing" on my passenger side needed to be replaced they finished it and ONLY charged me the $250 deductible, no other fees (No supplies or hazmat fees) and no diagnostic fee. It's AMAZING to me that I heard this noise for 3 months and Powertrain didn't hear nothing and Mike from Johnny's Auto Repair heard the noise and diagnosed the problem and called me in an hour and 1/2. Jennifer means well but she needs more training in costumer service. Clearly Powertrain Auto Service needs to at least hire an additional person so that the receptionist is not stressed and overworked. I have not "wrongly" stated anything in this review and for this company to respond via a Google Review vs my original email which I asked for on two occasions just shows that my break down of my bill was for a "show". I simply was looking for this info in my email from them. As I type this edit, I still have not received my email response.Johnny's Auto Repair was SPOT ON!! They treated me with respect they were professional and communicated everything I needed to know. I was CHARGED $250 and that was IT!! - So Powertrain has hidden fees that I am not sure why they are charging people, and I guess we will never know. I plan to continue working with Johnny's Auto Repair I felt like a valued customer and I didn't have to be a mechanic. CarMax sent me a survey about Powertrain Auto Service and I responded. As costumers we are spending hundreds and thousands of $$$ at the very least address our concerns and communicate with us properly. Thank youService: Engine repair

I called about having a Power steering Pump replaced on my wife's 2009 Hyundai Sonata. I even mentioned that I purchased the part. I was given a call shortly after dropping it off and for the price, which was considerably reasonable, my car was ready earlier than expected, even though they were still busy with other cars to be repaired.I'm looking forward to have one of my other cars serviced here in the future....Service: Steering & suspension repair

I went here for a replacement of radiator they are amazing. Their prompt with servicing your car. Knowledgeable about the work and reasonable with prices they are not none hungry jerks like a lot of mechanics can be. I wouldn t take my car anywhere else. If your in this area and in need of a mechanic, this is for sure the shop you should go to. Definitely the fastest I have ever gotten my car back from any mechanic that wasn t a major dealership and we all know how pricey a major dealership can be.

I got my transmission replaced here for half the price as Honda said they would do for. Honda wasn't offering any sort of warranty either, which is just insane. Powertrain offered me a 6 month warranty, and it has actually been 6 months now and I haven't had any transmission issues! Jennifer was also super comforting as she knew I was stressed out about this, and she knew her stuff, too! I would definitely go back here if I had to.. but let's hope I don't! :)

I encountered a really strange problem with my airconditioning in my 2010 Honda Civic. It wasn't cooling or would cool some and then stop after. The pipes would freeze too. I had only been going to Powertrain for just a couple of months and for small repairs so I was not really sure about using their services. Al, Jennifer and his team were so professional in delivering great customer service, very reasonable pricing, trustworthiness, and a commitment to getting the results needed at all costs. They also treat you like family and are very responsive to your needs. I highly recommend this stellar auto shop!

I have been coming here for about 5 years. I brought my vehicle here last year to get the ac fixed. I paid well over 1500 and it still does not work. When I first came here my car was repaired with service you can trust. I don t know what s going on there now but it does not seem the same as if management and mechanics have changed. If I am going to pay too dollar I d rather go to the dealership. Never again.Services: A/C installation & repair, Auto maintenance, Oil change

The clutch on our Mazda 3 went up on the 4th of July. We had the car towed to Powertrain the next day, Friday. We had the car back with a rebuilt clutch the following Tuesday. Going to a repair shop is scary business, but these folks were easy to work with and very responsive, especially when Jennifer came back from her holiday weekend! It's only been two days, but the clutch is working perfectly so far. Price was reasonable. Bonus points, this place is less than a mile from our house! We will definitely use them in the future.

All I can say is my experience at this location was very uncomfortable and demeaning. All my 53 years I would label this place as racist and people of color don't waste your time at this location. They simply refused to even diagnose my problem. If the owner is not racist they should not have a racist receptionist. She did and said everything except use the N word and tell me to take my business elsewhere.

Mr. Al and Jennifer are top notch. I have used Powertrain with my Audi A4 and with my current Hyundai. The staff is professional and work hard to ensure your car is safe and have always been honest with me when it comes to what was essential in making my car drive like new. Mr. Al works with you and I can honestly say I have never paid anywhere close to what the dealer would charge me. If they dont know the answers to what a specific problem is, they know who does. My car currently has 179,000 miles on it and I trust Mr. Al so much, I intend on driving it until he tells me there is nothing else he can do. Powertrain treats me like family!!! You can't go wrong with their service or professionalism.

My family and I are so grateful for Powertrain: Mr. Al, Mr. Lee and the amazing receptionist. We were headed to Baltimore to catch a flight for a family vacation to Mexico when we had major car trouble. Being that we lived over 3 hours away and it being after 5 pm, we were worried, tired, and on the verge of tears. We googled mechanics close by and Powertrain was our #1 option. We called them and was told to bring the vehicle in despite the fact that they closed in about 45 minutes. This company went above and beyond to help my family. My three children were greeted with hot chocolate, and we had the immediate feeling of relief. We were shown empathy and compassion. Repairs didn't cost us a fortune. Thank goodness. Two hours later we were on our way. Woohoo! Al could have easily turned us down, charged us a daily storage rate for our vehicle while we caught our flight, and charged us out the roof for repairs to take advantage of this situation. People are put in our lives for a reason, and Mr. Al and his team showed my family there is good in the world and taught my kids a valuable lesson to lookout for others, have faith, and not always think of ourselves. This company is ran with honesty and integrity, and it definitely showed that day. We really can't say enough about Powertrain....and we made our flight!!!! Thank you!

Al and Jennifer have been taking care of our vehicles for over 15 years. Solid, consistent top notch service without the excess charges! I would give them 20 stars if possible. I heartily recommend Powertrain in Bowie, MD!!!

I called to inquire about their availability to look at the transmission in my Ford Escape because I have codes provided to me recently and the non customer service lady told me to take my paid off Ford to the dealer. She didn t ask me not one question of clarity or explain herself just assumed whatever spun up in her head and directed me to the dealer who technicians are probably as bad as the service she provided over a phone. No help at all!

OVERCHARGED mounted and balanced one tire that was off the car a regular 15 steel wheel. For this they charged $54. When I questioned that they adjusted the price to $50. Still too high for the service provided. This took only 7 minutes to do. Other places would do this for less than $15.

Jennifer's warm smile greets you upon entering. She is knowledgeable in her craft. The owner, Al, is friendly and approachable. If i have any questions regarding my car or how it works, he's the man I go to. The mechanics are fast. I went in for an oil change and was in and out in less than 20 minutes.

I've been going to powertrain for several years. The staff is very polite and professional. They service a wide variety of year ,makes and models. They always tell me honestly what's wrong with my car,and what needs to be done to fix it. Always give fair prices on all services. If anyone needs work done to their vehicle I would recommend Powertrain.

I. have been using this company for over 10 yrs for many different problems. Recently they fix my 2005 mini van transmission. This car is running like brand new. Jennifer at front desk is friendly and owner Al is nice. Ask them any questions.

When looking for an auto repair shop, it is a bigger decision than most think. The auto mechanic that works on your car can pretty much tell you anything that they want. In my case I had something going on that I couldn't figure out on my own. I was expecting a huge bill for what ever was wrong. The problem with my car was minor and didn't cost that much. I give them a strong recommendation because they were honest when they didn't have to. Any of my friends that are looking for honest auto repair I am sending them here.
