I have been going to Bernie's Auto for a few years now. I was looking for a place close to where I work and I took a chance on Bernie's. I'm very glad I did. They have been good to me from the start. Fair prices, Honest employees.... and on top of that they do quality work.

Am an old geezer, been around the block, seen a thing or two and have learned that trust is earned. So I waited until my 3rd time in before writing a review. I m a vet and one of the sayings which stuck with me all these years is, If he tells you an ant can pull a freight train, then hook it up! . It had to do with whether a soldier trusted another soldier. Anyway, I ve met Ryan on a few occasions now and feel very comfortable that he is the genuine article. I have an awful car to get parts for (Saab), don t have a lot of dough, yada yada. But he worked with me, even helping me to source part(s) and buy direct. Awesome.The man who serviced my vehicle, Dustin, seemed trustworthy, too. Polite as well.All in all, each time was consistent in terms of the quality of work (very good), but the best feature of Bernie s just might be their pricing. Very fair. It s a great shop.

My daughter brought her vehicle on a friend's recommendation. After being misled and treated rudely she finally got her car back. They just didn't want to do the worsk and let it be known in a uncivil way.

There's no other place that even comes close to Bernie's Auto Repair! They are absolutely fabulous! So professional! They get the job done but it can be pricey at times. I left that review three years ago. I ve been going there for many things but the last two times we ve had to bring back the vehicle to get the problem solved. which one of the issues he said he will take care of it. with no extra charge, but then charge my husband when he went to pick it up, it s been always over $1000 and up to get whatever fix.

So I went to Bernie s had a door done by then they told me it was done. I went and picked up my truck my doors. Where is than what I started with they took out my spring. They couldn t put it back in my door is not even a aligned about the worst Work I ve ever seen like to know if I can get my $200 back or they fix my door right? Don t really know what to do I need Zack I guess to work on my truck and I ll let me know what I should do.

Been going here for years. Always fast, reliable, and very honest and fair with their pricing. Prices are often near half of what the dealership estimate is. Have on more than one occasion done a little extra work without charging or squeezed us in next day. One time I brought my car in for a strange clanking, metallic noise as I drove; turns out it was the space heater in my trunk moving... They took pity this poor dope and didn't charge me for taking a look, and even fixed a real problem. Nice honest people, they know how to get long-term customers!Services: Tires, General repairs & maintenance

I've had my car serviced at Bernie's Auto for years, and I highly recommend them for pretty much any repair or service work needed on a vehicle. They are fair, reliable and honest - and always fit you into their busy schedule without a lengthy wait. They aren't afraid to tackle any issues that may arise, and they always do an excellent job.

UPDATE: Check engine light came back on the evening after I picked up my car (again). Will be going back into Bernie s tomorrow (Monday) and hope it can be easily resolved. I don t suspect foul play, I understand these things can happen sometimes. Will give another update afterwards. This time they had my car 3 full days and Ryan called me Friday afternoon saying there was dirt in my evap lines, they flushed them twice but still kept filling up so he said it needs a new charcoal canister..another $300. He said to take the car, drive it over the weekend and if the check engine light does NOT come back on, we can settle up next week (me pay the $300 for charcoal canister). Check engine light came on yesterday, (Sunday) I called Ryan today to let him know, he said he was afraid that was going to happen because there was just so much dirt in the lines. I have to drop it off AGAIN on Wednesday. When I picked up my car Friday evening, it was left on E, the gas light was flashing and it had been driven over 100 miles. I barely made it to a gas station to fill up. That, I did not appreciate and they are mechanics and they couldn t put a couple gallons of gas in for me instead of leaving me completely on E, gas light flashing and all? At this point I feel hopeless that this is going to end and end well. If the problem was a purge valve and it was fixed, why then did they then say it was a charcoal canister and fixed that, yet that didn t solve the problem? I m extremely frustrated at this point. I just hope and pray this all works out because I ve already paid $1,400 in the last 2 weeks!First visit I had them install a new starter back in June and they were fairly quick and very reasonably priced. This week I showed up with a couple concerns. Talked to Ryan and asked him if he could please just hook it up to the reader and tell me why the check engine light was on and also why my rear brakes were screeching. He informed me that the code was for an evap leak but that once he looks into it further it would be more specific. Also informed me that my rear brakes were junk and rusted out. They got me in in a couple of days! Ryan called me mid day and told me that it needed both front and rear brakes and it needed a purge valve. Even though it was much more expensive than I was counting on, I okayed the work and they had it all done by close of business that day! I came in the next day, paid and left. The check engine light came right back on so I turned around and went back. They took it back in and it read the same code for purge valve. They cleared the code and said it s possible that there may be a bit of air in there and it shouldn t come on again but if it does to come back in and they ll figure it out. I m impressed with their honesty, fair prices, good work and the fact that Ryan looked at it for free before I agreed to let them work on it. I will continue to go here for my automotive needs!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes, Auto brake replacement

Everyone who works there was extremely helpful. From the owner to the gentlemen working on the cars they all made me feel comfortable and confident in my ability to understand what was going to be fixed on my car. They did a marvelous job explaining things to me in ways I could actually understand!! And the clerk In the office was simply amazing! She was so kind and caring. They were mindful of my finances without compromising the safety of my car.

Been bringing my various cars here for a while. If you're looking for free Keurig coffee in the waiting room this isn't the shop for you. If you want something done in the next day or two with a fast turn around and done well at a reasonable price, then I would recommend this shop.

I've been going here since Winter of 2015. They've always been honest, straight forward and helpful. They've worked hard for me at reasonable rates without sacrificing quality work. The only drawback as a consumer is that they are often busy, so call ahead.Thanks Bernie.

Super friendly, quick same day service, fair prices. I just moved up to Maine and I m so glad I found a reliable mechanic for my car! Nicole (who works at the front) and Ryan (the mechanic who worked on my car) are great!

What a great experience I had at Bernie's. The team was professional, thorough, efficient and explained everything that needed to be done. They communicated through every step of the repair and kept me apprised of costs as they went. I would recommend this place. Fair prices and they treat you well.

LESSON LEARNED TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!Don't trust a word they say!!!!! 100% is this shop!! Place is a joke and will never be back!!! Hope people don't have to get ripped off and lied too like I did!. !!Lost a lot of money!!RYAN THE CLOWN BEHIND THE DESK LIED ABOUT PRICING AFTER HEARING MY BUGET!! THEN TOOK MULTIPLE WEEKS TO FINISH THE CAR AFTER TELLING ME A DIFFERENT STORY EVERYTIME I WENT IN. MOTOR THEY REPLACED ENDED UP HAVING LOW COMPRESSION ON 2 CYLINDERS!!! MY LESSON LEARNED!! HAD TO TAKE MY LOSS AND LEAVE. THANKS AGAIN RYAN!!!Service: Engine repair

You know how most areas have places that are "the" place of that variety (ex. the best barber, gas station, etc.)? Bernie's is THE auto repair shop of this area. I've never gotten less than a good vibe or experience; I trust these guys working on my car.

I came into Portland for a Drs appointment and my CV axle broke. After reviewing mechanics I chose Bernie's. They got me right in, and had my car done by 8 the next morning. Thet went above and beyond dropping me at my hotel and picking me up. Professional, friendly and honest just what a single girl in a strange town needed. They gave me a quote and stuck to it, and told me of a couple issues to have checked when I get home. Thank you Bernie and Nicole you made this an excellent experience.Robin - Nissan Rogue

We called and got in the same day for an inspection. Found out we needed brakes done and price was less than the mechanic we have used in the past. Service was done the next day and when we went to pick up the car that evening they had forgotten to put on the inspection sticker. We called and left a message (on a Friday night) and Bernie called us back the next day and told us our car was ready (he had gone and put a sticker on, on a Saturday!). We are now in the process of buying a new used car and I called to see if they do pre-inspections and what the cost is - Yes, they do and there is NO CHARGE! After these two experiences, we will never take our cars anywhere else. The staff are friendly and professional and the service is top notch!!

Walk ins are welcome!! I came here last minute to get my state inspection sticker and they did everything in less than 45 minutes! Super nice and friendly I would recommend them for a hassle free inspection

I've gone here twice. The first to get an alternator installed which was priced very well and the second to fix issues to pass inspection. Here's the issue: when told over the phone what the issues were, I told them to go ahead. When I arrived the next day to pay for the repairs, I was told that while they would pass it, that the car now had another repair that needed to be done ASAP and it would cost just as much as the repairs I just had done. If I was informed of this over the phone, I would have scrapped the car and looked into leasing a new car. Now I have a car that'll be dead in another week or two and no money to even lease for another month.

This place is horrible, the workers, actually mainly the manager was rude. I came in there very nicely expecting great service and that was a fail. The employee at the front desk was nice, but didn t say much and you can tell he s used to dealing with the manager. I explained everything my car had been through and the people I dealt with that kept telling me something differently or failing to fix my car properly. The manger then told me one thing then change it and said something else. Then when I questioned was he sure before I tried to see if I could get it fixed... because I wanted to be sure. He lashed out!!! About how many years he s been in the business, he knows what he s talking about and if I didn t believe him then I could go somewhere else etc! Like he was mad, so I tried to calmly explain myself and that I wasn t trying to say he didn t do his job. He still wasn t listening for awhile and I got so upset already dealing with a lot, that I started crying because i was frustrated. He then replied I m sorry, I just haven t had a cigarette. i stopped smoking and I don t know maybe that s why I came at you that way and started laughing! So unprofessional! i had my words and left and didn t get my car fixed there. That s no excuse to be rude like that and then laugh like it s funny! HORRIBLE!

Well I brought my car in to get rocker panels done. The mechanic told me he would replace my rocker panels. Well 2 weeks later my buddy jacked my car up and found out that they bondoed my bottom of my car, that s after I paid 1400$ to get it bondoed. What the hell. I got screwed over and not happy

I came in today believing I had expensive wheel bearing problems and they guys (owner Adam reviewed withe me personally too) showed me exactly what was wrong while doing the honest thing and telling me the wheel bearings were fine. I appreciate honest mechanics when we are at their mercy for the truth!

They completed all the work the same day. They were honest, friendly and reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend... and definitely will return with any future work that might need to be done.
