This 5star is strictly for the bar. The bartender Becky has the best drinks. Great service. I haven't stayed in the rooms.Food & drinks: The drinks and breakfast are usually good.

What a view and what a dinner meal. This is on a recent ATV trip and had this as a destination. You can easily find this on the ATV trail map in the area and they 100% welcome and accommodate ATV,SxS etc. The view on the porch and timing this just right, overlooking the Kennebec River was outstanding. The dinning room has that Inn feel, but very comfortable and you are not on top of other tables. The staff was super friendly, informative on the area, the view, the food, the specials. They had made their own blueberry and raspberry syrups for some of their specialty Cosmo drinks. We had the special with was a Salmon in a maple glaze, with garlic mashed potato's and perfectly done broccoli. Also had the steak tips on a great specialty salad. Everything was hot, came out together, our waiter was attentive and appreciative that we had visited and took in this view. To have this great of a place right of the main ATV trail in the Forks is just amazing.Nearby activities: Northern Wood's outdoor adventure site has rooms and cabins for snowmobiles and atvs, plus the Kennebec Brewery right theirFood & drinks: Great rotating local beers on tap and bottle, as well as specialty drinks.Noteworthy details: Right on the main ATV and Snowmobile trail in the Forks.

My wife and I spent Sept 23rd to the Sept. 24 at this establishment and we really enjoyed it. Reading on the porch as the Kennebec river flowed by was wonderful. The room was clean, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent, Special thanks to kim and her staff for making our stay wonderful and we will be back. Dave and Ellen Adams

I was traveling alone in July. The staff treated me so well. I felt valued and welcomed the entire 3 days. Go, enjoy, definitely go rafting. And enjoy my favorite chair on the deck.Rooms: Clean, comfortable and quiet. Loved the jet tub. Who cares if there is no closet? Not me.Nearby activities: Go rafting, tubing and please go to Moxie Falls.Food & drinks: They were so accommodating. Food was good.

We had eaten at Inn by the River in the past, but this was our first time staying there.The room was clean and comfortable. We had a room to the front deck and found the gliders to be great to relax and listen to the river.The hostess, Scarlet, and her team were friendly and engaging, and we enjoyed ourselves completely!Will be back to stay and dine!

We were just delighted by the hospitality provided by these folks. My wife and I were there a few days in July to do some rafting and our stay was part of the rafting trip. The Inn itself is just across the road from the river and our room overlooked it. We had all of our meals there and they were simply wonderful. Beyond that, the staff at the bar and in the restaurant went our of their way to see that we had what we needed. The room was spacious, well-equiped and very comfortable. We would not change a thing about this place - nor will we hesitate to book it again. It was a 6 hour drive - and the Inn By the River really helped make it a worthwhile trip.

Beautiful location. Everyone made us feel so welcome. We had travelled there from Ireland for a wedding. The food was so good, especially the scallop dish which we had twice for dinner during our four night stay. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to source any information when we asked them to check out places for us to visit. My husband loves fishing and one of the ladies organised for him to go fishing with her father which he really enjoyed. A wonderful place to stay and relax.

We loved the Inn by the River. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Becky who is the nicest person ever. We felt right at home. We had the carriage room, which is like a little apartment and we were very comfortable and it was very clean. The whole staff is so kind. And the food! I can t say enough about the food, it s so good!! We didn t want to go anyplace else to eat. Loved our stay at te inn and will be coming back!

We stayed one night at Inn By the River, and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. We thought we would go out for dinner, but then we were told they had a restaurant. We ordered, and what an amazing surprise! The food was better than a five-star restaurant!When we finished, we sat outside to see the sunset; they were so attentive came out and built a beautiful fire for us. We needed mosquito repellent to be out, but it was great. The room was clean and very comfortable, and the staff very friendly.

I have stayed at the Inn by the River several times both in the summer and the winter and always have enjoyed my stays! Most recently two weeks ago for my birthday weekend ATVing on the trails. It was great waking up in a clean and comfortable room, walking downstairs to have my tea on the porch listening to the River flow by and chatting with other guests. Also super convenient to walk out back hop on the ATV or sled and have direct access to the trails!Staff is extremely friendly, food is excellent with a good amount of dishes to choose from and always look forward to seeing the specials.If you are looking for a place to just unplug and relax, highly recommend the Inn by the River!

We did not experience their lodging, but we did have dinner at the restaurant, as we were staying at a cabin a bit north in Jackman. Everything was simply wonderful. We were hoping not to find your typical, touristy Maine restaurant, with typical food and spray can ambience... We were pleasantly surprised that the place was as good as the reviews! The service was top-notch, the food was very well prepared, and more than reasonably priced for the quality. Appetizers, drinks, dessert and the main dishes were totally out of the ordinary. A real treasure in this part of Maine!

I would give Becky and the restaurant 5 stars, she was super and the food was great. Unfortunately, I guess we were given the worst room you have. It was downstairs. No chair, no closet, broken sink and stopper which was stuck. Thankfully, the patrons above us didn't walk around too much, otherwise we wouldn't get any sleep. We made the reservation more than two months in advance. Not sure why we were given such a bad room. To the owners: I would definitely stop renting out that room.

Inn by the River was a great find, the perfect base from which to tour and view the awesome foliage - and the view from our room itself, with the panorama of foliage along the river, and the river's wonderful soft sound of the water over the rocks, we felt serene, surrounded by beauty. And the friendly and helpful staff were like friends from the start, Becky in particular was an engine of good feeling!And the food was superb, not uber fancy or contrived, just perfect! The chef (Anika?) was fully engaged in making food she would be happy to serve to her favorite people, and one felt as such. Can't ask for better than that! We'd stay there anytime we were in the area, for sure.

We had traveled up to The Forks in Maine for a wedding and didn't have any ideas on where to stay. The wedding party had recommended Inn By the River to us. Our expectations were simply to have a comfortable bed to sleep in as the main purpose of the visit was the wedding. Much to our very pleasant surprise the accommodations, the staff, the restaurant all contributed to a wonderful weekend. We feel like we made new friends "up there" and look forward to our next chance to stay at the Inn again in the future. I know you will be very happy with your stay there as well.

We just stayed at the Inn. Great food and good prices.We thought the king size bed was the most comfortable bed in our 43 years of traveling the USA.Very nice place to relax. We went looking for moose on the back roads for a few hours.We also had a beautiful view of the river from our room.We would definitely stay they again.

The room was very basic and I didn t realize when we booked that there wasn t even a TV or a table in the room. Additionally, there was no window covering over this glass door other than a sheer so I didn t even feel comfortable getting ready for bed or laying down. So needless to say we left after a few hours on the first night. Additionally, the noise through the walls and above us was deafening. It literally sounded like herd of elephants in the hotel all evening.The room was clean and the food at the restaurant was great but I can t recommend this place if you are looking for a comfortable quiet getaway.

Ate at the riverside restaurant. It was great! Service was fast, and waitress was very nice. We sat in the deck where we watched hummingbirds fly around. The view of the river was very peaceful! Food was soon tasty and the Mac and cheese was to die for!

During a getaway to the Forks, we stumbled across Inn by the River. The food was great- the Mac and cheese with steaks tips was ridiculously good. The portions were great and the staff was so friendly. We ended up eating here 2 of our 3 nights. Will definitely be back on our next trip up north.

A perfect inn. Reminds me of what it once was like to stay at small New England inn. It is unpretentious, quaint, cozy, small, and intimate. The staff and owner were real locals. They all cared about the guests and the guests' experiences. The view from the porch is lovely. The food is excellent.Nothing more to add.

This inn was the absolute best for so many reasons. The staff was incredible and the food was fantastic. Jackson and Jamie, some of the managers were so welcoming but that goes for the entire staff. I felt like I made great friends with all of them. So many laughs and conversations with everyone who worked there. They had the most beautiful view outside the inn and also had jet tubs in the rooms as well as a balcony. We ended up booking another night because we didn t want to leave. The food was so so good. The tubing was amazing also. I can t wait to go back. Missing all of you already.

The Inn by The River is simple, quaint, clean and most of all super FRIENDLY!! Jamie took care of us from checking us in, making us great cocktails while serving an amazing dinner and best was her amazing breakfast she cooked. The free breakfast is great but the menu for the ordered breakfast is one of the best anywhere we have been... make sure to make time to stay for breakfast. Our room was dog friendly, clean, comfortable and quiet. The Inn, the food and the view are all wonderful... but Jamie will be the reason why we return again someday soon.
