Brought my 2006 tacoma in for a simple inspection sticker and was told my vehicle needed two lower ball joints and that I wouldn t be getting a sticker because of that. Immediately I was skeptical about that because I know my vehicle very well and have spent many hours under it making repairs. I bring it home and inspect the ball joints for myself and they re tight as can be. Nice try, next time you try to sell services that aren t necessary maybe don t try and pull that on someone who s been wrenching for a decade. Avoid this place.

Edit: it won t let me leave a second 5 star review but these guys are great. Stopped in this morning for a quick fix. I ve said it before but I ll say it again, you guys are awesome and THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Since there is so many people finding a reason to complain about this establishment, I d like to be the voice of difference and say something GOOD. I brought my car in for 2 new front tires about a few weeks ago (as my tires were dangerously bald). The gentlemen working here were extremely kind about helping me so quickly. I could not afford the alignment with my service that day and they didn t pressure me at all to get it anyway and I really appreciated that. They did a wonderful job here and I m looking forward to sending my car here for future services. Thank you guys for all of your help!!Services: Exhaust, Tires

Got recommended this place by a friend because of their value and service. Wasn't disappointed. Needed a few things done to my car to pass inspection and they were able to take care of it as soon as possible, without any trouble. Will definitely keep coming here, even though it's a decent drive for me. It's worth the good service and value!Services: Exhaust, Tires, Oil change

Brought car in due to alarm saying service charging system. Told them could be bad alternator. They checked battery and said battery was fine and terminal was a bit loose so they snugged it up and alarm apparently went off. Sat in the lot for 10 minutes because I had a feeling it wasn't just a loose terminal and sure enough all my lights on dash lit up. Walked back in and told them alarms are back. They said they needed to keep over night and work on it the following day. Next day I called at lunch time and asked for an update. They said alternator was bad and battery is bad. I told manager I thought you checked the battery and it was fine. Said they didn't load test it. So they wanted $470 for a remanufactured alternator without labor! Had them replace battery just so I could get it home and replaced alternator myself for $175. Manager and employees are polite, but the markup on an alternator was insane to me after calling several auto parts stores for a price. They obviously make there money on parts markup.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Battery

Just went today to have an inner tie rod end and alignment done on my Toyota at the Sanford location. I was taken care of well and I was out of there pretty quick. Everyone was very nice. No complaints at all. I will return there.

They were very rude and disrespectful in general, I won t name names but I ve had 2 bad experiences back to back and would recommend any other place in Sanford to get your car inspected or serviced. They treat women very poorly.

Quoted me $150 over a competitor. When I pushed back to get a better price he started accusing other shops around him of being shade tree mechanics with no guarantees on their work. It was very bizarre. Make sure you get competing estimates. $108 for labor is higher than I pay my Mercedes mechanic. 2 stars because they didn't charge for the brake diagnostics after I declined service after the quote which I appreciate.Reply to the comment from the owner: This is sort of what I mean. The parts offered by your company are not unique, we're talking about a brake job for an old Jeep. The parts that your service tech offered were advertised as "mid level" and explicitly not top of line. A warranty on service is something you should expect as standard. You're right that 'of course you can always find an independent who will charge less' and that's what I recommend people do.Service: Brakes

So thankful for these guys! Had a bike chain piece jammed in my tire, attempted a DIY plug, did not work. EVERY place was booked and I don't live local, this garage is right down the road from my work, I called up and Joe got me right in, was able to move a few things around to get it fixed for me. Super appreciative. Thank you so much for saving me from getting stuck on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere! Manager was so nice, staff was great, and I liked that they brought the tire in to show me how messed up it was before they made the repair. Tire was fixed, and I am happy! ! Thank you again.Service: Tires

Given many chances and consistently say they will do something and not follow through. This last time they all out refused to even look at my car. I'm pretty sure it is a blown head gasket and told them before having it towed there. They told me not to worry they would take care of it. Got a phone call later that day stating they didn't even look at it and it was out of their skill set. I told them that I would not be back for wasting my time and they said "ok". Be careful going here.

I would leave no stars if it was possible. I had an appointment today for the entire day, had someone follow me down to leave my truck, I get there and theres a sign on the door that they are closed for today and will re-open tomorrow with a phone number to call. I phoned the number and left a message, I got a call back from a guy who had no idea his number was left on the door or what was going on, he just said they are having problems with the manager there. What a waste of time!! I understand things happen but they could've taken a few moments and given me a call to not waste my time.

I showed up for my appointment and the guy told me he couldn't help me because he was the only one that showed up for work. Kudos to that guy for still working. I never have a great experience here but they were the only place that could fit me in. I'll just opt to wait a week next time.

Went for inspection early April they told me 4 things needed to get replaced- came back with everything fixed in May. Now and I am being told I need other things replaced for my inspection that could have been told to me a month ago at my initial inspection. Not impressed, never had a problem with them until now- they seem to be making excuses to why they didn t explain the initial problems. Giving me a run around. Don t recommend dealing with this I ve had to pay for my inspection 2x now and still not inspected. Not professional. Find a better inspection elsewhere.

Used to come here for everything. Then Ted left. They crushed my rocker panels, didn't tell me, and tried to play it off like they weren't the last people I went to when they told me the next time I came in. They didn't even install my windshield wipers correctly? Three different sizes, the one on my back window fell off. They did, in fact, put new ones on when I realized this, free of charge (I don't drive in rain very often). But the people aren't really friendly, and they kind of suck at their job. Or, at least, they've sucked at their job every time I've gone in.I don't normally leave reviews, but they've screwed up what I needed them to do the past two times I went in. Cars are expensive, and it's really just not worth gambling your vehicle on whether or not these people are having a good day.

In retrospectt I worked there for almost 8 months and when I started there was 2 lifts ready to fail. Due to being rotted and could have injured an employee severely. I personally had one of said Jack's on a drive on lift fall on me due to not having proper safety in place. They did replace both these failing lifts the only good this company did for the safety of the worker. In my last week there we denied 3 jobs because they weren't money makers for the business. Long jobs to them dont bring tons of profit. One of the last cars I looked at for a differential leak happened to be a wheel seal and with that you do the rear brakes because they got soaked in gear oil. I then went to quote the repair as wheel seals and rear shoes and hardware. I then was confronted by the general manager about having to do an entire brake inspection when I'm not doing the brakes cause they failed it was just a one comes with the other repair. And then the customer didnt have the money right away. I asked if I could fill her diff because it was empty. I was told no because then we are liable if that diff fails. Take it as you want but I'm not the type to let some person hurt themselves or others because the rear end seized up with no fluid.

This is a lengthy review, so bear with me. I gave this business a second chance and was wrong to do so.TL;DR:Maine Auto installed the wrong spark plugs for my car ($200) and then the brake pads they installed broke and subsequently ruined my brake rotors ($300+).When I moved down to southern Maine I needed a new mechanic, and Maine Auto's Sanford location was the closest to my house. I took my car to them for just about anything and they always seemed to do a good job. When my car started having engine problems this year, I, as usual, took it to them for diagnosis and repair. They were unable to definitively figure out the problem, but they knew for sure that the car needed new spark plugs. THey put new ones in for around $200. My issue went away for a couple of weeks, but then returned, stronger than ever. After discussion with my mechanically inclined family (I am not mechanically inclined), we decided that I needed to go to a specialty injection/ignition shop that would have a better scanner to figure out the problem. When I did go to such shop, not only did they figure out the wiring harness problem, but they needed to replace all of the spark plugs! The ones that Maine Auto put in were not the right type for my car and were not igniting at the right force (not entirely sure what that meant, but I was told it could cause problems down the line). Moreover, one of the Maine Auto plugs had already been broken from being over-tightened when it was installed. Understandably, I was upset.Much to my surprise, Maine Auto gave me a full refund on their spark plug installation. So, I figured, one mistake after all of their work should't prevent me from giving them my business.A couple of days ago, one of my front brakes started making loud, horrible, grinding noises. Having heard the noise in the past, I knew that I needed to get my brake pads replaced ASAP to prevent my rotors from getting wrecked. So I brought my car into Maine Auto the next day.I had a lifetime warranty on the pads from having them install them earlier, so I knew the service was going to be cheap--just labor. Then they told me that my rotors were beyond saving (one of which had been newly installed earlier by them, along with the pads). Now here's the thing about brake pads: they are supposed to squeak when they are getting low to warn drivers that they need to be replaced, that way the rotors don't get damaged by the metal underneath the pads. My brakes did not. One day they were fine, next day they were grinding horribly. When I asked about the indicator that my pads were supposed to have, the mechanics showed me how they had fallen off the pad! I asked what caused it: "the salt they use on the roads in the winter is really hard on cars...."DUH! I explained that I washed my car very frequently during the winter to prevent such a problem and the response I got back was "well, that's just how they make stuff these days." So the indicator bar (makes the squealing) on the brake pads they installed fell off because "that's just how they make stuff these days." Low quality. So, in the end, I paid them once to replace the pads and one rotor on my car, and then, because their pads are cheap junk, they destroy my rotors with no warning, and the company gets to profit off of all of it.Never have I felt so worked over by a business. Needless to say, I will not be giving them anymore of my business, and, if anyone else does, I pray that you are more mechanically inclined than I am to check to make sure that their "lifetime warranty" parts don't damage your car.

I had a flat right down the street from the shop and the guys went out of their way to be helpful and help me find a tire and rim for my trailer. That's excellent customer service in my opinion and I will be telling people about how they handled the situation.

Not happy with my experience at the Sanford location. They failed me on an inspection and told me about several repairs that I needed. The man who checked my car over kicked the molding out of place right in front of me, saying it was only being held by ice on my passenger side. They tried telling me that I needed all three mirrors, when state law says I only need the center rear view mirror and all my body issues they said was a problem was superficial. My fender cover is secure, just coming off at the ends. I was told my brake lights were out on the left side but the paper says on the right side. They also tried to tell my my brand new brake pads The only thing wrong with my vehicle was my rear tires, which we knew were low tread but thought they would pass. I'm pregnant and need my vehicle. They allowed me into the garage to see what was wrong and did not offer safety gear like goggles, etc.

These guys are great! The thing I like about them is their honesty. If it s something they can t do there, they will tell you. Also, you ll never see frivolous up charges here like you sometimes see at dealerships.

If I could have an option of no stars, I would choose that option! I have been taking my car to the Sanford location on and off for the past three years and usually, have gotten fair service (just routine oil changes, snow tire change) Since the manager retired, the new one Dan, is not an honest person. Will try to find the young, inexperienced with car type people and try to burn them. Just a quick snow tire mount and balance today turned into a 2 hour ordeal of checking my brake pads etc...when I didn't ask for that to begin withTold me today that my brake pads and rotors are beyond saving and I need to get $500 worth of brake work done when I have not once experienced anything wrong with them prior to my appointment. Also told me that it isn't safe to drive so will need to leave my car there for the day. Also told me that he "had to loosen some things up in there so I will hear some grinding now if I haven't before"After that many red flags, I talked with a couple other mechanics who said my car is fine and they were trying to scare me into forking over $ for dishonesty.Family called Dan who of course denied everything! I will NEVER return to Maine Auto for their "knowledgeable" service and especially the Sanford location where they don't know what the Hell they are doing and just want to take poor young people for a ride! DISHONEST AS THEY COME

I had an inspection done it was funny both windshield wiper blades were torn and I think I would have noticed that the last time it rained. I've never had a car fail due to windshield wipers! So I had to buy 2 wipers to get inspection on a 2015 car with 25000 miles! Also the guy tried to sell me a cabin filter by saying do you want to breathe this showing the air intake side with 1 leaf and pine needles that's the stuff that filter stopped complete scam stay far away!!!!!!
