This was our first time buying a car from a dealership and it was easy, affordable, and an all around pleasurable experience! Pape Subaru has some of the best customer service ever especially Danielle, who was so personable and easy to work with! We did have a minor issue with the car a couple months after purchasing, but the service team got us right in and the repair was covered by Pape. Thank you, Pape Subaru, for selling us a car we love and truly going above and beyond throughout the whole process.

I had an excellent experience at Pape 'Subaru. My salesperson, Stephen, was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgable about cars, having been an auto technician in the past. He helped to make the process of buying a vehicle smooth and easy. My sense of Pape Subaru in general was that it is a company with integrity, and that they are fair and respectful with their customers. I have already recommended Papa Subaru to friends of mine. Thank you very much. We love our new car!

The service department personnel were able to assist me right away, even when I did not have an appointment; they replaced the battery in my key fob and sold and installed new windshield wiper blades on my Outback. The folks in the service department, including the person who thoughtfully came outside to install the wipers on a COLD day, exemplified outstanding customer service and I really appreciated how kind they were.

I had a great experience doing a lease buyout of my 2021 Crosstrek. Vinnie was very professional and helpful. We (my husband and I) were able to get a monthly payment that we were very happy with, Travis was awesome! Fun and informative. I will always recommend Pape. A big thank you to Rick O Neal, who I did my original lease with.

Went to purchase a pre-owned vehicle from them due to my previous car being totaled. Had to put my belongings in the back of my car. They took the car into the shop that I signed for. Needed new tired and a transmission flush. Check engine light kept coming on and they could not diagnose the issue. After 4-5 days waiting for a response, they called stating they were not comfortable selling me the car. Told them I would be in the following day to look at another car. Between that time, they took the car to be cleaned and threw away all of my personal belongings including some holiday family airlooms that have been passed down 5 generations of my family! Reported to sales manager whom offered an extended warranty on the new car. Unacceptable as I should get a check as compensation for the value of the goods. Worked to the Vice President who was the worst customer service representative for the company I have ever encountered. He was short, rude, and stated he did not care about my family airlooms. Told me he would not have offered me anything as compensation as the manager did. How he got to where he is today is beyond me. My mother and father were upset due to the loss. In my anger, I wrote to the owner of Pape Subaru. He was open to a conversation about compensation but tried every which was not to just write me a check for what was owed. He attempted to divert blame to me for full responsibility when my belongings were promised by three representatives, sales, manager and service that the belongings would be safe in the car. After arguing with him during 3 different phone calls and exhausted with dealing with such an incompetent company, I settled for about 85% of what was owed back to me as a check. To future customers, don't shop here. There are plenty of other subaru dealerships that will treat you right even if a problem comes up. Life happens but pape subaru never took ownership of their negligence. They said this happens 6+ times a year. Don't let it be you

I had an awesome experience at Pape. Doug was the man I worked with and he was a gem. I never felt pressured, I only felt supported. He helped me buy a car he didn t sell me the car if that makes sense. He just wanted to help me find the right vehicle and give me all the information I asked for. The management was friendly and the process was seamless. As a woman I was concerned about buying a car- I didn t want to be patronized or not taken seriously. I am happy to report I was treated with the utmost respect and courtesy at every step. Doug even helped play with my young kids while I swapped our gear over to the new car. He also took the time to go over all the little buttons and features and helped me set up the Bluetooth connection to my phone. I honestly can not say enough positive things about my experience buying a car from Pape. I would highly recommend Doug and the entire team.

I recently bought a new forester wilderness and am completely satisfied with my purchase experience. The gentlemen at Pape Subaru made me feel comfortable and confident in the car I chose and I did not feel pressured in swaying my decision in any way or like they were trying to sell me extra unnecessary things like I've had at other dealers. Extremely happy!

I recently bought a new car from Pape Subaru, and it was the most wonderful experience I have ever had at a dealership! I worked with Nick in the sales department, and he was fantastic. He was honest and reliable and never tried to sell me anything he knew I didn't need or want. I had to wait a month for my car to come in but he communicated with me the entire time and made sure I had everything ready, including my insurance, when it was time to pick up the car. Nick is incredibly knowledgeable in his field and it's clear that he loves working with people. If you are thinking about buying from Pape, I highly suggest you ask to work with Nick.As far as the car goes...I absolutely love it! It's everything I wanted and more. I now know why so many folks in Maine rely on their Subaru's. I am leasing this car, but I already plan on buying it when my lease is up! My family has worked with Pape dealerships for years and we will continue to do so!Thank you Nick and everyone at Paper Subaru in South Portland for an incredible experience!

My wife and I just bought our first Subaru. A 2023 forester and we love it! Stephen was an awesome salesman! No pressure and knowledgeable. He even gave us a tour of the building the shop and went on the test drive to explain everything. Highly recommend Pape Subaru!

This review is for the service department and not sales.Tanya, the service manager, is fantastic! She will always do her best to get you in as soon as possible. She really listens, explains things in a friendly and concise manner, and recently really went above and beyond.There were a couple of times over the years that we were unhappy with the service we received but no place is perfect and in the end they or Subaru made it right.

We drove from NY to ME for the New England Forest Rally event in July. On the way back we noticed a loss of engine power from my Subaru STI. We scrambled and found Pape as the closest Subaru shop, and wanted to assess the situation. It was a Saturday, and Tanya informed me it would be hard to get me scheduled/serviced as they have limited techs on the weekend, She suggested not driving the car anymore and mentally prepped us to leave the car till Monday. Because of our work schedule, we HAD TO get back to New York the same day. Tanya suggested us a diagnostic test, so we had least know what is wrong. Turned out to be a simple ECU glitch, and after flashing the remapping the ECU, the car was back to normal.Tanya was extremely helpful and considerate and we truly appreciate her help and service. We want to express our gratitude for her relieving our worries and getting us back on the road safely. We are from NYC, but if we live in Portland, ME, I'd definitely make this my go-to service dealer. Great service with great example of real empathy for the customers. Highly recommend! Thank you Tanya!

Danielle and the whole team made the process as easy and convenient as it could possibly be. With 2 young children and tight schedules they were able to put us in the car we wanted and finance approved without having to sink a days worth of time. Everyone loves the car.

As I was driving my 2006 Subaru Outback in South Portland, I realized that the repeated gremlins for the used car were acting up, again, but more seriously. I drove the car to Pape Subaru and was greeted by a pleasant salesperson, Danielle Marquis. I explained my frustration with my current car and if I could buy or lease a new Subaru. Danielle went into action and to my surprise I was able to walk out (as well as drive out) within three hours with a new 2023 Subaru Outback Premium car. The staff at Pape I meet with, exceeded my expectations. Andy, the sales manager, Vinnie, the warranty manager, Travis, in finance and Dara, in service all worked well to get me in and out in a professional manner.I would highly recommend Pape Subaru in South Portland, ME.

$90 for an oil change, no thank you!! I stated multiple times I was there for JUST an oil change. They still tried to upsell me on additional repairs. One particular gentleman (who I m assuming heads the service department) comes out and pulls up a chair to sit down with people so that he can get all personal and give this apologetic diatribe about what your car REALLY needs. I noticed this behavior was accentuated for female customers. I ll give him credit in that I m sure he gets this particular dealership a whole bunch of extra money for the upsell. I will be changing my own oil in the future and finding a different locale to service my car.

I've gotten my 10-year-old Subaru serviced at many Subaru dealerships over the past 5 years. Pape Subaru was by far the best! While it was a month wait to get in, they were mindful of my time at the shop and didn't try to overcharge me. Kai was very good at explaining the issues with my car and patient with all of my questions. Easy 5 stars!

i went to pape based on the reviews...i actually couldn't believe that a dealership would be rated that highly. But you know what, they did not disappoint. Liked the feel of the place. Not all flashy and compartmentalized with a check in desk and then having to talk to someone else, and so on...old fashioned in a good way. honestly, everyone i dealt with was super nice. i think you really test a dealership when things don't quite go to plan. in my case, there were a couple of issues with the car (not any fault of the dealership at all), and they were amazing at working with me on these. bottom line? if you want a subaru, go to pape...they didn't pay me to say that!

Just bought my first Subaru! The Pape experience was great, from beginning to end. Fun, friendly team and no pressure. Love the car and was glad they suggested I test drive one. I planned to get the Rav4, but loved the Subaru so much more.

This was the best car-buying experience i have ever had. The salesperson (Mike) was super respectful and not pushy at all. The finance process was utterly painless. Customer service is actually their priority, not just a gimmicky slogan.I would not hesitate to buy from them again, nor would i hesitate to recommend them to others. I spent about 15 years on the wholesale and retail/service sides of the car business and am pretty adept at sniffing out bulls$#t. Happily, there was none of that to be found here.10/10, would recommend

This was my third time leasing a vehicle through Pape Subaru and it will certainly not be my last. The process was so easy and the customer service was exceptional. The staff is friendly, competent, and professional. Would recommend to any. 10/10

This is my 3rd car from Pape and I can t imagine going anywhere else. The sales department is so responsive, and they genuinely work with you to get the car you need, even with COVID inventory. Finance makes it a breeze, they are honest, and savvy to get you a rate you deserve and will worn for your budget. I asked them for a lot of scenarios and they sent them to me without a second thought. Even the GM, Katie, reached out to make sure I liked my purchase!!! I actually enjoyed buying a car!!! 10/10 recommend.
