Sending a great review for this place. Barring aside the big hit on maintenance costs (granted - and to be fair - my car is about 100K), the work done was way above par. Driving my car the day after I noticed the difference ASAP and I felt like it was like a "new baby." If they can do this for an old car, I'm confident they can fix much in a less mileage vehicle.It's hard to trust good car mechanic shops, but I highly recommend this place. When I need another inspection, even if I need to drive an hour away, I'll trust Auto Care Plus' work again in South Portland, ME. Thanks again Mike and to your team!

They are fantastic. As a widow you worry that you are going to be taken in car repairs. Everything was explained for the repairs. Pictures were taken.I would recommend them anytime.The whole shop in South Portland rocks. Don't we all want mechanics we can trust? One of the keywords today is TRANSPARENCY. That's what you get here--both! I like to know what's going on with my car. When I am given a link that tells me where my car stands in the queue, as it goes into repair, and then the steps (including pictures) that it goes through before it comes back acting like new. This company does not rip you off. Trust is so important in this line of business. (Have you gotten a quote from a car dealership recently?!?)Give this company a try. This is a keeper!

These people will lie to you about your vehicle. I brought my car in with a few issues and concerns, I left with a huge list of thing a that need to be fixed One of the items they Said needed to be fixed was my windshield wipers and my windshield wiper fluid. When I Asked to just have my car back, They charged me an outrageous shop free. just to look at my car.upon getting back into my car the mechanic told me that I am in luck that my windshield wipers and fluid started working again. The wipers and fluid have worked the entire time. They put a huge price tag on fixing something that was not broken at all. This is not Okayy.

Been using them for about 1/2 a year now but I wont be returning after my last visit after a critical mistake was made. On the plus, staff is very friendly and easy to deal with. I brought my wife s car in first for some routine maintenance. A control arm was replaced on my wife s Subaru and had to bring it back for a clanging because something was not tightened all the way. Gave them a mulligan on that one as they did take care of it when I brought it back. However a couple months ago I brought my truck in for diagnostic for the same problem. I heard a clanging coming from one of my front wheels and asked them to look it over as I wanted peace of mind since I drive my kids around in this truck. I asked them to check control arms/ball joints or just the tire area in general. I was told they couldn t find any problem and they suggested the noise was my trailer ball clanging around. They assured me everything was fine in the tire/suspension area and my vehicle was safe. A little over a month later the ball joint completely let go while I was driving and locked up my steering. Had to have it towed back to them. Luckily no one was hurt as it happened at lower speeds, but I was a bit shook up since I had just been driving my wife and kids down the highway in it shortly before. On top of that though, nothing really was done to make up for it either, they had to replace the broken parts after having my truck there for 5 days. Charged for new tires I now needed to pass inspection because it damaged the side wall of the tires when it broke, charged for another alignment that was just done at the first visit, not offered any refund or credit for the failed diagnostic, and only given $50 off because they applied a AAA discount. $1400 later I hope it s all good now but for missing a problem that could have caused injury to my family, and being told not to worry, the vehicle was safe, I won t be bringing my vehicles back there.

It was my first time at Auto Care Plus and I will definitely be back! The staff was accommodating with my appointment and very friendly. They gave me recommendations for my car but did not push adding services and paying more!

Hit a pothole which damaged my run flat sidewalk, had a spare tire to mount. Squeezed me in the next day for that, oil change, and brake fluid flush. We re done by noon. They do great work.

Unfortunate that I have to write this. Filed a complaint with the state police today because these guys failed my Jeep for inspection because the backing plate of the left rear drum brake has slight oil seepage from the axle seal. The statute in the inspection manual calls for failure if the "friction surface is contaminated with oil", which it clearly is not, and they acknowledge it is not. They are failing me preemptively because the seep could hypothetically get worse and then cause an issue. It won't, and if it did I would fix it then, not now. My guess, this will last another 15 years before it becomes a real problem because that's how long the first seal lasted. They will post a reply here saying it is unsafe and I should be ashamed, but look at the photos for yourself. The axle, seal, and brake components are nearly brand new and the brake works 100% today, which they acknowledge. Look at the photos. Brake has not been cleaned by anyone. Anyone who has ever opened a drum brake would think you could eat off of this one. And I'm being failed for it. Not because it's currently unsafe but because it could possibly become unsafe in the future. That is NOT the statute and NOT ok.

I had my 2018 4Runner serviced at Auto Care Plus yesterday and I m really pleased. Dan Austin did the mechanical work and met with me afterward to go over everything. He is very personable and knowledgeable. The counter crew was also very helpful and I felt like they were truly interested in doing what s right for me and my 4Runner. I have been using this shop for over 20 years and totally trust them.Service: Brakes

absolutely avoid this place unless you want to pay $1,000 more than necessary for repairs to pass an inspection. i have since sold the car i brought in but i was in the process of getting it inspected and figuring out what needed to be done at auto care plus before i sold it. when i returned post-inspection, i was told the price and i clearly said that i thought it might be okay to do the repairs but that i wanted to make a couple calls first. i did not explicitly approve the repairs. when i came back again, i told Mike behind the desk that i had decided no, who then proceeded to tell me with a clearly unhappy expression that he had already ordered all of the parts and that he didn t know what to do now. odd and surprising, especially after i later spoke to the manager Shealyn who said they could return the parts no problem. overall, just go somewhere where people will be honest about what you need and not just try and rack up a sale.

Was visiting Portland at the end of April 23' with family (wife, teen, two youths) for vacation and possibly future relocation. Last morning in town while checking out the local food scene, car suddenly overheats. Luckily we were close to hotel. AAA dropped off wife and kids and suggested Auto Care Plus for good family service.Great folks there! Understood our need to get back on the road that evening. Got me back to hotel and called within hour/ hour-half with an update. Set a plan and they were finished before checkout! Outstanding!!The entire time I felt like they were being straight with me, as I was in a super vulnerable position. I would totally say go to them if you find yourself in a similar position, very trustworthy which isn't always the case.If my family and I do decide to make the location change to Portland, this will definitely be my mechanic shop.Service: Engine repair

Everyone here is awesome! By that I mean, helpful, consistently positive and enthusiastic about their work smart, clearly experienced , and the people skills are awesome. Everyone works as a team and always tries to give you the best bang for your buck, in that they always have coupons and warranties to back you up for your more expensive car fixes. My absolute favorite part is when I call, they answer, and I m in there the same day if they can t fix it then, they always have a loaner for free until they can. Hands down the BEST auto shop I ve been too my fave person to have take care of me there is Shealyn I have to point out how she s my favorite car tech there to work with because she always gets it done and never gives you any sense that she s busy, even though she definitely is you always have her undivided attention and she knows what she s talking about so ask her anything. 12 out of 10 stars will be going here forever.

Auto care plus is very open and transparent about their services and repairs!! Store manager Shaelyn is always excellent, polite, and answers any questions I may have! The courtesy loaner cars are also a huge help! Old aged mechanics not willing to work on hands and knees per shopEdit: (seems like a dramatic response)Stated all vehicles needed to be able to fit on a lift (mine wouldn't).I just asked about the fleet vehicle picture on Google posted from the owner, and you advised you had multiple shops and your mechanics are in their 60s and don't want them on their hands and knees.At that point, I thanked you for your honesty and would go somewhere else.There was zero aggressiveness, and I only inquired about service. I have no clue where you got that I was demanding service.Also, I never asked anyone to work outside.Posted a review for I would want to know if my mechanic isn't willing to get down and dirty and for the quick dismissal on the phone.

So glad I popped into Auto Care Plus today! Not only did I get in, but got my car back as promised, with the most courteous service from Shealyn and Renee, but the technician, Dan Austin was able to share details about what I might need. They offered to drop my car after it was finished and also a ride to work when I left it. My family and I love AutoCare Plus! They are affordable, professional, and honest. The customer service is incredible, very friendly and informative. I brought my car in today for an oil change and a pre roadtrip check and they were efficient and attentive. They even installed my new windshield wipers without me having to ask! We were on vacation from Canada and were worried we had a loose tire. They took the time to check the tire and tighten the nuts no charge. Dan was friendly and warm, the receptionist was warm and helpful as well. Thank-you for your help.
