I've never been a car guy & haven't had the best of experiences dealing with mechanics in all my many years running my transportation company until I came across Pete at AAMCO. One of the most honest and trustworthy mechanics that I've had the privilege of coming across. Pete has been a Godsend, a decent human being, very knowledgeable with helpful expertise in just about anything that has to do with vehicles. Absolutely the best service I ve experienced outside of my pops. Very kind and patient as I tried to explain car issues through made up words and sounds. I knew what was wrong the very next day and it was back to me the day after that. The price was very reasonable and fair. AAMCO will be my first call for any car needs/advice in the future.Oh, and on top of the amazing customer service, quick repair, and good price, they noticed I left my sunglasses in their waiting area and had them waiting on me when I returned.Service: Brakes

I was having trouble with the transfer case on my 4X4 Suzuki and set an appointment with Pete at the Portland AAMCO garage.The appointment was several weeks out due to the demand of services at Pete s AAMCO garage.As the appointment drew near, I towed my car to the shop and Pete said that backorders and supply chain issues had put him behind on his appointments. He said he would get to my car as soon as possible.I completely understand what he is going through because that is today s state of affairs and left the car knowing he would do everything in his control to complete my job as quickly as possible.Pete must have worked through the night and weekend to finish my car on the date of my appointment.Pete s character and work ethic reminds me of the way America used to be. He knew I was faced with critical issues and needed the car, which is towed behind my motorhome, to leave for Mexico where I had contractual financial obligations to fulfill.A million thanks for the efforts you make to service your customers.Service: Transmission

Wonderful Service. We had our food truck not shifting out of first gear. We had two events booked and were really worried. AAMCO made time for us and in an hour we were back on the road. Not only that but their integrity shined by letting me know it was only a .25 cent fuse. There are garages out there that would tell you the flux capacitor was bad and its thousands to fix. We could not be happier. This is the type honest hard working business we should be supporting. I am a customer for life. Are there 10 stars?

Pete's transmission shop is by far the BEST repair shop I ever had repair work done at. He did a fantastic transmission replacement on my Honda CR-V. It runs like brand new! He has the greatest integrity and honesty a car owner could ever ask for. He stands behind his work. These guys told me I needed a new transmission for over $6k. I got a second opinion and had a slight leak that was repaired for $340. Seemed dishonest, I would never go back

Brought in my Xterra today to have them look at the Transmission.Sometimes (rarely, but it happens) it hesitates to move when stopped (engine revs but transmission doesn't catch) and I was worried it wasn't reliable to drive. There was also some noise when I hit 40 or 60mph that I thought was the transmission. They took it out and said everything felt fine and the noise was the rear differential and that it wasn't anything to worry about on a truck with 150k miles. After all of the checks they did on it, and taking it for a spin around the block, they didn't charge me a thing.If something does happen with my vehicle, I know EXACTLY where I'm taking it. These guys are great. I've been taking my family cars here for a number of years and always get great service. Friendly, honest, no BS, prompt & priced fairly....and, most importantly, they do good work. I trust that the work gets done right and have never had a call back. I have come to trust their car advice and my 100,000 mile great-running Tacoma is proof. I like using small business enterprises where the owner is often also the operator. You get a personal level of service that you can't always get elsewhere.

Brought my car in with a transmission problem. I got a free estimate based on the symptoms. They were very knowledgeable and informative in explaining the possible issues and costs. When they took the transmission apart it turned out to be a worst case scenario. They worked with me to help make a decision on what to do based on the age and overall condition of my car. I never felt pressured and felt that they were honest and had my best interest as their priority. I decided to not get it fixed and they didn't charge me for their diagnostic work. It was a good experience. I would highly recommend Aamco.

AAMCO Portland Maine was fantastic with both service and warranty in the replacement of the transmission for my 2007 Honda CRV. In fact other places I called wouldn t touch this job let alone provide a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. . The service and communication with Pete and his team was with 100% satisfaction from the very first call all the way through to delivery. I am most appreciative!Service: Transmission

These guys are great! Peter has great customer service. He s honest about whether you need a repair or not. He goes above and beyond to be helpful.I have an old 2005 Dodge Ram that they replaced a transmission casing and have honored the warranty. Also they showed me the old part so I could see the damage to it. Most garages won t do that and I think a lot of customers sometimes feel ripped off or question if certain repairs were necessary.I told Peter with this old truck he would surely see me again soon. Came here for a transmission tune up, Peter was amazing and so helpful. My car runs beautifully now. Would happily recommend. I was recommended here by Dennisons, and as a person with little to no car experience, I'm happy I've trusted both of these people.

Pete came highly recommended by my trusted mechanics at Hewitt's in Yarmouth. And he is outstanding. Had a bad leak between the front differential and transfer case on a well-kept 2008 RAV4 with only 53K on it, and he estimated the fix to be $4500 -- a 14-hour job due to Toyota's awkward design/placement regarding these components. Because of the ridiculous car market, I decided to go ahead and have him fix it. Ultimately, it was a damaged gasket betwixt the above components, to wit, it wasn't as laborious a repair as he originally anticipated, and my bill was $1800, saving me $2700. Almost anyone else (and especially a Toyota dealer) would have totally hosed me. Not Pete. A man of true integrity and vocational pride who truly excels at his job. I could not be more satisfied with the service I received from AAMCO in Portland, Maine. Not only was the work that was done to my car fast, efficient, and extremely reasonably priced, but the owner and other employees provided friendly service that will keep my business for as long as I'm living in the area. The owner, Adam, went above and beyond on multiple occasions providing wonderful customer service, including keeping the shop open a few minutes late until my cab arrived and talking to my father on the phone about the details of the work that was done. I couldn't have had a more positive experience.

Excellent service and communication, extremely honest shop. I brought my vehicle to the dealership to be diagnosed after my transmission started shifting erratically. I was told by the dealership that there was in internal issue with my transmission and it would be $6,000 to replace it. Needless to say, I brought my car to Aamco for a second opinion. Peter the owner, called me within 2 hours of dropping my car off and told me that he could fix my car with a software reprogram for less than $300. A couple hours later Peter called me and told me that the car was fixed and ready to be picked up! Huge thank to you Peter and his staff for being completely transparent, honest and coming to the rescue. They saved me over $5,000 and had me back in my car the same day! Words cannot express my gratitude. Would recommend this shop to anyone in need of an honest repair facility that does not play games. Thanks again to Pete and the Aamco team!Service: Transmission

These guys are great. Had the transmission in my truck rebuilt by them. I called them like 600 times asking questions and they were always courteous and helpful, and always called when they said they would. If you you're looking for an honest shop and great mechanics, this is the place. I had an issue with my car on a Friday afternoon and they found a way to fit me in and get me set to go, even when they were stacked with cars. Adam and crew are awesome!

Pete the manager is amazing. Very honest and helpful. Doesn t work on Mercedes but helped me diagnose the issue for free and referred me to another shop.

Great service! Adam and Pete are very knowledgeable and take time to explain the problem and all available options. All repairs I've had have been flawless and return trips are for routine visits, and new issues. Being a young female, I often feel like I have to brush up on "car lingo" and play tough to avoid being over-sold on parts I don't need, but not here. They'll steer you in the right direction, and I would highly recommend them!

Adam and his staff are very professional and took care of my truck as quick as possible. I have my own business and being without my truck is not ideal. I called on Wednesday and spoke to Adam who picked up right away and told me to come in Friday morning (today). Was extremely patient with me on the phone and didn t rush me at all.I m there for no more than 10 minutes and he told me that the Heat Shield was loose. He replaced a couple loose screws that he said were rusting. Now from what I ve seen, there are a lot of mechanics who will rip you off. That s not the cause with these guys! They genuinely care and explain everything to you. Honest and great customer service. I will definitely be returning!

In the years since bringing my car here, I have been treated with the utmost professionalism, integrity and fairness. They are always willing to accommodate my schedule, even when I know it must be an inconvenience. They have more than earned my trust and loyalty. I had an absolute great experience at AAMCO. Adam was friendly and responsive to my calls to check on progress and was very helpful in explaining what was wrong with my vehicle and what was needed to bring it back on the road. They never once tried to sell me on additional parts. Very happy with my experience. Also found out they do all types of automotive work so will be going there for my regular maintenance too! Thanks AAMCO and Adam!

Paid 124.00$ and he did absolutely nothing he charged me for, which was to check my fluids, a noise in the rear and my tires. He deflated the tires and said they were overflated by 20 lbs and that should take care of noise, it didn t. Had to return the next day after because of a new terrible noise. The steering fluid valve completely dry he lied with a straight face as to why I suddenly have a new problem that he said nothing about when I paid him and he could fix for almost 400$ more. Totally dishonest and a thief. I will not be taking my car back there and advise of not to trust him, especially women and people of color. Also if you have an adversion to the smell of marijauna don t go there, the place reeks of it. Will be filing a case with BBB.Service: Tires
