This journey KOA is very relaxing. A country setting with nice grass and trees. Most sites are setup like buddy sites, but spaced enough to still give you your privacy. We have no complaints. Lots to see in the area with a little driving. The owner, Michele, is very accommodating. US1 hasn't been a problem with noise. Would definitely recommend KOA!

We had a last minute stay due to moving because of Hurricane Lee. We chose Journey KOA in Houlton Maine due to the proximity to the Canadian border crossing (2 miles). Boy was this a GREAT decision! The employees were so accommodating. They gave us the best site to be protected from the storm and that wasn t too hard to navigate in and out of. They kept us informed of weather and utilities interruptions. They also had some great amenities that we were able to use. We highly recommend this particular Koa campground!

This is a great family owned campground just off I95 and close to the US/Canadian border. The owners are very friendly and helpful. One night during our stay they offered us boiled lobster and a very economical price. The lobster was cooked perfectly. At the last minute we opted to change our plans and stay longer. The owners were able to grant our request and provide a space for us. The nature trail is terrific and the park is clean, comfortable and quiet. There is no off-air TV reception and no cable TV. There is satellite reception so if you are addicted to TV and don't have a dish, bring some books or DVDs. The wifi coverage is great, but they were having speed problems when we were there. I'm certain they will resolve it. We plan to return at some point. You can't go wrong staying at the Houlton/Canadian KOA.Nearby activities: About 15 miles north is the home of WBCQ, a well known short wave radio station. WBCQ is the most powerful shortwave broadcast station in the US and has the only rotatable curtain array antenna in North America. It's quite something to see.Walkability: Everything in the park is within walking distance. There is a nature walk that is absolutely fantastic. Sadly, we saw no bear or moose while we were there!Food & drinks: Houlton is not far and there are good places to eat in and around Houlton.

What started as a local camping trip to see how our dog would do, quickly turned into us planning next year and making this our new family tradition. What a GEM of a place right under our noses here in Houlton! From check in through check out the staff and owners were welcoming, accommodating and always had a smile! From the mouth of our 11 yr old. "They have EVERYTHING! Best campground ever!"It was super quiet and peaceful in the evenings and morning...the afternoon was nice to watch the family's swim, use their pedal cars, jump pad and playground. We were at site 57. Loved the central location. The grounds were very well kept, the facilities were the as clean as they could be considering it is a campground (very impressive). We even had some family come visit us and they look forward to camping there next year with us.. Such a special place, made twice as special due to the staff and owners! The only negative...we had to leave. Can't wait for next year!Rooms: Love the ability to choose your site when booking.Nearby activities: Skating rink down the road, fishingWalkability: Great place to walk ..beautiful sceneryFood & drinks: Small store on site for whatever you forgot or send the kiddos for treats and an icecream.Very close to local grocery/department stores

The best campground I have stayed in. The owners are very personable and all around good people. Any issue I had they were willing to help fix itno questions asked. It is a beautiful area with a nice trail behind the campground. You might see a moose or two. Definitely stay here and say Hi to Michelle and David for me.Eddie Garlock

We can t say enough about Michele and how accommodating and gracious she was. We called last minute trying to escape Hurricane Lee. We were staying in Prince Edward Island and knew we needed to seek an area of less wind. When I say we I am referring to three large fifth wheel trailers. Michele said she could accommodate us but two of the three sites only had 30 amp service. When we arrived, a very large class A got stuck almost to its frame. Michele cautioned us about how wet the sites were due to the recent heavy rains and certain more on the way. All of the sites are grass. She took us out on the golf cart to survey the situation. We agreed on the three sites that were harder and and parked in a fashion to keep our trucks on harder surfaces. One of the site had a bad electric pole so another site had to be secured, Michele credited one nite for the troubles. It is a very nice campground with spacious sites and extremely clean facilities. Please note that there is no cable and air TV connection is none existent. A camper using Dish satellite said his worked great. The wi-fi was very strong so we were able to stream Thursday night football.

We stayed in the Glamping tent for three nights very nice and clean. The grounds were well kept and the location was great. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The only slight problem we had was there was no hot water as described . The water heater was broken. When we arrived home we unexpectedly received a partial refund to offset this. We appreciate this and hope to have the opportunity to return in the future.Thank you.

What a wonderful gem very conveniently located near the Canadian Border. All the workers went above and beyond to assist in anything we needed for our stay. My 2 children said they were friendliest and kindest workers in all the campgrounds we have stayed at and we agree! We did a quick 1 night stop at the campground. The campground it's self is beautiful with nice walking trials and beautiful ponds, there is more then enough amenities for everyone including the pool which we had all to ourselves, the kids park and bounce pad they also have a gaming room and paddle boats, the store was well stocked for a little camping treat or some rocks for the little ones to mine :)You can tell from when u first enter the campground that it is a very family friendly place everyone greats you with a smile and for us that's what makes your stay extra specialWe stayed in the large canvas tent which was a special treat for us and we absolutely loved it, there was everthing u could ever need ac if its to hot and a heater if its to cold, microwave cookware and bbq and huge fire pit with alot of seating plus much more and cannot forget it's stunning location, walking out on the patio and viewing the water and trees it truly is beautiful and peaceful! We already cannot wait to return thank for you hospitality and kindness

Clean, spacious and clean cut grass is everywhere. There is very little gravel. Roads are narrow but no trees, stumps or rocks that would get in your way. Some have FHU, we had water and electric in site 13.Walkability: Nice nature trail behind camping area. It's many acres and open.

If your looking for a campground close to the border this is the one. Staff is extremely caring, and after a long day of travel greeted us with a warm smile. It's all grassy with lEge sites. Nice bouncy pad and plY park for children. Nice pool. Very clean. Dog park a little small. I had to pick up 5 dig poos and therefore not impressed by dog owners. This is not the parks fault. Bags were easily accessible and plentiful.Playground: Nice bouncy pad and play park.Dog-friendliness: There is a dog park and walking trails.Picnic area: Very large with shelters

Great place, clean and manicured, quite, had the amenities: pool, playground, camp store, game room, book exchange, laundry. Great hiking trails for walking. The only bad thing showers are tiny, real tiny but clean. Clean means everything.

One of the nicest campgrounds I ve ever stayed at. Surprisingly for a KOA, it s spacious. It s green and lush with vegetation and assorted trees and flowers, and several ponds. And nicely groomed walking paths throughout a large forested green space. Level spots on grass. Friendly staff and people are neighborly. New small pool, lots of things for kids including a jump pad and panning for gold. Everything is very clean, good signage and concierge service.Only one suggestion would be for larger showers and better shower faucets. I felt like I was in a telephone booth and barely more than a drizzle of water to shampoo and wash. Outside of that, everything is exceptional.

What a great campground. Beautiful new pool, large lots, bathhouse very clean. Whole campground is well cared for. The owners, Dave and Michelle, are great. They want to please and if anything is wrong all you have to do is let them know and they will do what they can to fix it. Rates are very affordable. If I had know the campground was as great as it was I would have stayed a week. My family and I will definately be going back. Highly recommended!

For a close to home campground getaway Houlton KOA is a family's camping dream oasis. All we wanted was to be near the bathroom and playground for our 5 and 3 year old busy boys!We could have coffee, watch them play, close to the bathhouse and pool. It was the ideal place for family R&RThe owners are so friendly and just lovely people. They've thought of everything and then some

The KOA is clean, well maintained and quiet. The location is perfect for a visit to northern Maine or New Brunswick Canada. The owners obviously take great prode in their fscility. Constantly cutting the grass or weed wacking. The land is very well maintained. There is a pool that is clean. I did not use it so dont know if it was warm or not. Showers are clean. I have nothing bad to say about this KOA. Highly recommend it.

This place is beautiful. It was well kept by previous owners but new owners have really stepped up and made this place a true gem of a family campground. What I really loved about this koa is that we didn't feel packed in, we had ample room at our site for games and visiting with our neighboring friends that were on our trip with us. Our site was full hookup, that includes power, water sewer and the campground has wifi. Plenty for kids to do like swimming in the new inground pool, fishing in a peaceful pond, panning for gems in the outdoor water slooth where you purchase sand/gem bags in the store and my kids had a blast using the pedal carts to tour the campground loop and playing ping-pong among other table games in the game room. Younger kids will also enjoy a jumgle gym swing set and a fun air filled bounce pad. We have a 4 legged family member so we were able to utilize the small off leash enclosure that supplied "doggie waste bags" with trash disposal and a few toy's to exercise your pup. Bathrooms and laundry facilities on site are extremely neat and clean being very accessible in the hub of the campground. The store has plenty of fun souvenirs, candy, gifts and a few supplies to get you through if you forgot any essentials. We absolutely loved that the owners were right on site to get checked in then to guide you to your site which is really helpful if you've never been there before and give you some tips on the best parking to enjoy you spot. All in all it's a peaceful little spot you wouldn't suspect being off a busy state road and we will definitely make a return visit.

This place is great! Came over from New Brunswick for 3 nights. Got a huge site (#59) with a WiFi hub 5 feet from my son's bunk (a Happy 15 y.o). Washrooms are immaculate and amenities are just 5 minutes down the road. Cheap beer, cheap smokes, and PowerBall Tix...LOL .Don't worry about firewood...a banana box of hardwood is just $7...just don't forget your axe for kindling... The owners Michelle and Dave are super cool. Go out of thier way to accommodate.

Love this campground the owners are amazing and make you feel so welcome this place is very peaceful and has walking trails and a dog park. Most KOA campgrounds are very expensive this one is affordable and our older kids loved the pool and the games in the game area. I would definitely recommend this campground for all ages. They have a gift shop as well and I love that they sell The Naked Bee lotions and hand soap I had to buy me some. Like I said great place to stay and wonderful owners !!!!

Beautiful campground with fields, trails and a lovely pond. The owners are so helpful and friendly. I was escorted to several sites to view before settling on one near the pond. Upon arriving found that I had broken a jack that day and the owner brought over a jack and fixed it under the camper for me. This was a perfect ending to a three week trip and I will definitely be back. Immaculate grounds, dog friendly and lovely people

Love the campground. Michelle and David are new owners and they are the best. The campground is clean and campsites are level. From what I understand they have done a lot of improvements from the old owners. I was staying there last year waiting for the Canadian border to open so I was there for 2 months. They accommodated my crazy schedule. Had a wonderful time. Did a lot of exploring around the area. I am headed back there in a few days. I want to go downtown to the market on Saturday and get my apple pies!

We pulled in and the owner escorted us to our site. It was not crowded but you could tell even if it did get crowded you had plenty of room and didn't feel like you were on top of your neighbor. All grass sites was a nice change from the sandy and dirt sites we had been staying at which constantly got our floors dirty. We had a problem with our water connection leaking. I called her and she immediately came down and moved us to a new site. No other problems except for the mosquitoes. We had nothing to repel them and got bit up really bad. We only stayed one nit and were happy to leave the next morning to avoid anymore bites. I can't blame the campsite for that. We newbies need to be better prepared.

Family and I loved this campsite over the July 4th weekend. The owners were tremendous and attentive. Even though the campground was busy the entire site was clean. Tons of things for the kids to do and the nature trail was great to walk the dogs around. Would highly recommend.

All I can say is wow. Michelle who takes care of things here, has to be one of the nicest people ever. So helpful and accommodating. We called last minute at 7:00 pm and she kept the store open later so when we arrived we still had access to everything. Told us not to worry, anything we needed, she would help. Really made our night. The campground is peaceful, so many stars. Just sitting here now by the fire making dinner. Will definitely come back here on our way back. Feels like home already.
