Pete and Rob have the best selection of used Subarus in the State of Maine and the service in eastern Maine. If you have a Subaru or are looking for an honest service shop this is where to go.

Pete should be out of business. Take the money and run is his M.O. The condescending tone he and his wife take with a customer returning with a concern or complaint is completely unprofessional. Reneging on the warranty - fair game. The car was unsafe, unreliable and not worth its price. No ethics at out-o-town. No community allegiance. They fit the old, nasty adage about used-car-salespeople and should be ashamed. But aren't. Go anywhere but here.

This is the first shop in my personal experience where I haven t felt taken advantage of. They have only fixed what needs fixing. I ve taken our 2010 XC90 and 2013 Outback to them on a few occasions and always get them back promptly and without fuss. They ve even walked me through the repairs(when I ve asked) so I understand what was going on and what was fixed. I won t go anywhere else.

Out O Town Auto is absolutely the best place to take your car in Ellsworth Maine. Over the last 6 months - 1 year my Subaru has needed extensive work. After taking it to a few other places around, I felt as a young woman I truly was being ripped off and quoted unbelievable prices on parts and labor on my Subaru. After taking it to Out O Town, they gave me a realistic quote not only for parts but for labor too. I was able to buy various parts online, take them to out o town and have them installed and pay for the labor no questions asked. For the parts they did supply, the pricing was fair, they even fixed my subframe for over $1,000 cheaper than I was quoted elsewhere. Unreal! They are honest and hardworking and it s obvious that their goal is to help the customer instead of rip them off. I feel that my beloved Subaru is in great hands at out o town, and for parts in the future I can t imagine taking it anywhere else.

I called out of town auto to have my rocker panels replaced, them to look at my front end since my tires were wearing on the inside and to figure out a missfire that the truck was having.The receptionist gave me a estimate on the rockers of 12-1500$ they ordered the wrong size and cut off the extra and left them like that metal burs that cut my fingers when I ran them across the rockers.I called back and she told me that I informed them that I only wanted it gold enough for state inspection which never happened and further more why would you charge full price for a job that you half did...I called back a few days later and I was informed that the plugs in my truck have aluminum tips and sometimes that can get tricky she gave me an estimate of around a thousand dollars to replace the plugs and coil packs and if that didn't fix the misfire they would have to dig deeper to see what's causing it, she also told me that the body guy would finish my rockers but again I said only good enough for state inspection, once again I never said thoughs words to anyone at the place.I called back today to see what was up with the truck since no time frame was given to me, my truck has been at the shop for 2 weeks now, I called and she told me she called me and told me they wouldn't do the spark plugs and coil packs due to the fact it may be difficult and take some time. She then informed me that I should take my truck and go somewhere else with it because apparently they cant make me happy. Unprofessional work and attitudes all around do not recommend unless you enjoy being treated like a sub class citizen

Finally found an honest auto mechanic and used car dealership shop. My car died recently and I had to get another used car immediately. I had been burnt so badly in the past that I was really not looking forward to the experience. Peter showed me a 2009 Subaru Forester and explained in great detail what he had done to the car to get it ready for market what things had to be replaced etc etc and assured me that it was a very sound car and that I would not have problems with it. It's been a few months now since I purchased the car and I am in love with it it runs like a dream I only had one little thing that I had to have fixed I turned on the air conditioner because I didn't need it beforehand and it didn't start up so I took it back two out of town Auto and they fixed it right away and then told me that there would be no charge whatsoever because I had purchased the car from them recently. I must say I was absolutely shocked that they didn't charge me at least for the labor because the car was there for a couple of hours. They did a great job and the car runs perfectly now I will certainly be using them as my mechanic for anything that comes up oil changes etc in the future not only did they give me a great deal on a used car but they also are very honest about any kind of car repairs etc. To everyone who works there is unbelievably nice. I cannot speak highly enough about out of town Auto I will be doing all my business with them in the future and I highly recommend them especially if you know nothing about cars like me

We had such an enjoyable car buying experience here. Peter is honest and fair and such a friendly and interesting person. After a horrible buying experience at Stanley Subaru last year, it is nice to know that there is a subaru dealer in town who knows how to treat people with respect. His prices are very good and he answered all of our questions. This is the first time that we actually had fun buying a car. We will definitely be going back next time we need a car and will be getting all of our service done here. Thanks Peter!!

Can't say enough good things about this place. From the friendly office staff at the front desk who are a pleasure to deal with to the excellent mechanics who always do the job right and at reasonable cost. Whenever my Subaru needs fixing this is where I go! From headgasket replacement through brake work and routine oil changes I've always been highly satisfied with the results. When they moved to a new location closer to Ellsworth awhile ago I thought for a minute that they'd gone out of business and it was a Gulp Moment for me! Made my day when I called and discovered that not only were they still up and running they'd moved into a bigger/better building much closer to where I live!

Took my vehicle in for a 150000 mile check up and they didn t even do half of the things that they needed to do to perform that kind of service. $1500+In addition I about one month later got a flat tire due to the fact that they never even checked on my tire wear. I had a bad front driver s side ball joint. And needed new calipers and brake pads!

Can't say enough good things about these folks. These are just a bunch of great guys and are like my knights in shinning armor. Pete the owner is a great person and Rob Moon- Pete's top head mechanic is just exceptional. I've known Rob for many years. They get the job done, tell you out straight want is wrong or give their best guess (which is usually right on the ball). I like to think of Rob as a car doctor. He's been doing this for over 20+years now on all different vehicles and knows his stuff. Makes the job look too easy which shows he has exceptional skill. I've had my car towed over 100 miles a few times (and will continue to do so) to their garage cause I don't trust anyone one else to touch it. That's how good they are!

Have bought cars numerous times (3 I think )Their word is solid gold, as far as I am concerned. NEVER have they not bent over backwards to make sure I was happy.

Highly recommended, they do excellent work and they search for deals to prevent the cost from being wallet breaking, they work with you with payment, they even gave me a free rental car for the weekend because they told me my car would be fixed by Friday and they wernt finished yet so they let me use one of theirs so I'd have a vehicle for the weekend, no charge. Definitely great customer service hands down.

They are absolutely the best, hands down. If you're gonna buy a car, don't let Stanley Subaru screw you, go to these guys first. It's nice to know that there are still honest people out there who do great work at a fair price. I'm an Out O' Towner for life!
