I have a mixed review about this park. The staff were really nice. The park is absolutely beautiful. The campsites are beautiful wooded or there's a field if you prefer. electrical and water hook ups available. There are trails that start in the campground and allow you access to the park. There is some road noise from route one but it's not unbearable. The only problem - the dump station was a challenge. The park should invest in a five dollar fitting so that the black tank flush works.Restrooms: There's a lot of iron in the water which is not terrific, but it's not terribleDog-friendliness: dog friendly and dogs were well behaved

We went to the top of Mount Battie by car. Lovely look out over the hills and city of Camden. There is a tower built from stones from hotel that had been there previously. The tower commemorates the soldiers from WWI.Restrooms: There are two outhouses at the top.

This is a great park with lots to do. The rangers work hard dealing with Mt battie traffic and the campground. We enjoyed the bay side of the park with water access. High tide was safest because the rocks are slippery. We had site 106 for a week which is too close to the dumpsters, loud, people use it all times of the day. Sites 102, 103 and 104 are also too close. There are some nice hook up sites near the restrooms and I would try to get one of those if I came back. We also did the hike up the mountain. It was steep but manageable. The conservation corps were there working on it. Loved the free showers but sometimes the water wasn't hot at all!Playground: Swings near shore access.

We camped at Camden Hills and we liked it although the sites were closer together than we prefer but it was quiet. We also drove up Mount Batty and the view was cool although it was hazy from wildfire smoke.

A beautiful park with great views from the summit. The mount battie Observatory gives great views onto the town of Camden.Restrooms: Restrooms are pit toilets. They were not that bad a they were reasonably clean.Dog-friendliness: Dog friendlyPicnic area: Picnic area is at parking lot, and there is plenty of space for lunch at the top if you don t mind sitting on the ground.

We camped here and visited for 2 days. Great hiking trails and perfect views. Same view is easily seen by driving auto road to the tower with a lot less effort. No real shore accesa here, though there is a rough path down to a very rocky beach. Water and electric at our campsite. Relatively flat, but not 100%. XL site fit our 30 foot bumper pull perfectly. Junior ranger program a hit with my toddlers. Playground is just 2 swing sets.

Love this place. Nice walks and hikes in some beautiful woods and mountains that hug the coastline. Views are for miles when you are at the mountain sumits and the Mt. Batty Watchtower. Great to get away and take in the salt air and views. Take a drive up the Mt. Batty auto road if you can't make the hike. If you are into camping then you should have a stay at the state parks campground. Really nice and close to Camden, Rockport and Rockland. This place is a great jumping point to a lot of local excursions, whether you want to hike, fish, shop or just explore the coastline. There is a great deal to do nearby. Shops and cafes too.

Fun trails. Even if it is foggy outside, I would still recommend going just for the hiking. First, we drove up to Mount Battie. Would have definitely been a nice view if not foggy but there was still the WWI memorial tower and the signs that told you information about it. We then drove down to the parking lot for the Megunticook trail. We did the Megunticook trail and we also took the Ridge trail to the summit of Mount Megunticook. Was somewhat strenuous going up but was very easy to go down (other than falling from the slippery rocks). I would highly recommend this route as well as also going through the Adams Lookout Trail (which branches off and connects back to the Megunticook trail and offers great views). Also, definitely bring bug spray and be wary of spider webs. One more thing to note, it is a deceptively large park, don t bite off more than you can chew.

Beautiful Views, and a labyrinth of trails for the hiker! Even a reservable ski cabin totally off grid and remote! Rumor has it the Auto rd. Will be completely re-done, the proper way this coming 2023 season

Beautful tent sites with lots of trees and amazing hiking trails. You can also drive up to the summit of Mount Battie if you are unable to hike.

Great hiking opportunities as well as a fantastic view from the tower. My pictures are affected by smoke from Canada wildfires.

This is a great state park adjacent to Camden, our favorite town in Maine. Camden and Camden Hills SP are like a smaller, less crowded version of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Beautiful State Park with lots of great hikes. We were here August 2nd, and the water was shut down, so toilets and water were not available.

The view from Mt. Battie was absolutely amazing! Prior to our trip, our friends had recommended this. So peaceful and serene seeing the harbor down below! Definitely worth the stop!

Hiked up and stayed at the ski hut (you need a reservation). Hut is large (sleep 10 or more). Two Adirondack chairs and 3 picnic tables inside. Plenty of wood for the wood burning stove. Trails were super icy! Definitely bring traction in the winter. View from top was obscured by clouds, but views of harbor are stunning on sunny days. Great stay! Great day hiking locale too, but can be super busy in the summer.

Well marked foot trails and auto road lead to spectacular 360 degree view. Scenic tower and clean outhouses are icing on the cake. Hiking trails are moderately challenging but well marked and distance is indicated at trailheads. Great family outing.

We love visiting Mt. Battie! It has a great view of the bay, great hiking and walking trails! You can take people of all ages and it is partially handicap friendly, you just have to find the best way to navigate at the top. Great place for a picnic or just to take some great pictures! Highly recommend!

State Park you have to pay to get into but not too expensive for a day pass. Hike or drive up to the amazing view of the Maine islands! Worth the money to go see these views- couldn t hike in February because too cold but I want to come back for sure in the summer and hike this place!

The views of Camden Harbor are breathtaking. Make sure you check this out on your stay in Maine. You can drive to the top of hike. The hike is definitely more fun and great exercise.

Stayed here last weekend with friends. Had a lovely time.Pros:Good size sitesFacilities are nice and cleanWater accessThe people at the gate are super helpful and niceCons:Everyone else that works there but doesn't work at the gate and in uniformI went the wrong way once during a rain storm on one of the roads on the camp sites to rush to the rest room. Got more than yelled at by the host person "in charge" fornyhis. The person could have said " you need to move" but rather than being nice to the people spending money at this camp site I got a full tapping on my window and a full yelling at. For pulling down a 100 yard road the wrong way, by accident. Btw the "huge sign" I missed in the pouring rain is about 1 foot long by 3 or 4 inches high.I messed up and take responsibility. What I don't understand is that the people screaming so loud we could hear them across the camp site didn't get any talking to. We heard the fighting Saturday night for over 2 hours. Then my group got nervous cause of all the multiple angry people going from the group area to the smaller sites as the argument pursued.Would have been nice of the host to worry about that.

I camped here for 3 nights. The campground is good. The campsites aren't very private, but you also aren't on top of each other. The bathrooms are great. Showers are free. There are lots of hiking opportunities. Ocean is accessible from across the street. No beach here, but there are two nearby. Camden has a lot to do, shopping wise. I saw "Romeo and Juliet" at the Camden Shakespeare Festival while in town.

Group sites on the ocean side are well spaced and quiet. Great for teaching trips and feeling like you are in the wilderness not too far from civilization. Hikes are accessible by a short walk.

Camden hills state park is a recreational area for all the public to enjoy.(fees apply). There is camping available in the park. Be sure to make reservations as this is a popular destination. There are lots of hiking trails to spend the days exploring. You can go to the top of Mt Battie, as well as Maidens cliff. There is a cool stone tower you can explore on Mt battie. Also amazing views of Camden , Rockport and Penobscot bay. Maidens cliff offers wonderful views of Magunticook lake below. There is a memorial on top of Maidens cliff in the shape of a cross. Come to Camden hills for the day or weeks to enjoy. There is also an auto road to the summit of Mt Battie. If this review appeals to you please like and or follow on maps

We had group site 3 and it was a quarter mile walk to the bathroom. We also only had a view of the woods and not the ocean.Other parts of the campground were really pretty though.

This is a great state park with a surprising number of trails. I highly recommend doing the Megunticook Trail and summiting Mt. Megunticook (about a 3.5 mile round-trip hike). It is surprisingly steep in sections, but offers a really nice lookout of Camden and the bay! On the weekends, try to show up on the early size because the Hikers' parking lot can fill up.
