Our family enjoyed a great stay in one of the cabins at Bass Harbor Campground at the end of June. We were there for five nights in cabin 5 which has a loft which the kids loved. The cabin was very nicely maintained, and very charming. We appreciated and used the microwave, mini refrigerator (there was a tiny freezer compartment in the top of the refrigerator) and coffee maker. There were plenty of electric outlets too. The campground was very pleasant, and had a family owned nature to it. The bath houses were not brand new, but we always found them clean and pleasant. The laundry room was also very nice, and to wash and dry a load of laundry cost $3.00 in quarters. There is a nice big utility sink on the side of the bathrooms for washing dishes. Each cabin and camp site has its own water spigot and we thought the water tasted very good. We loved the pool and got to use it a couple of times. It was clean and the water felt great. We also found the other campers to be very quiet and respectful. We enjoyed walking to the lighthouse and the location near the Ship's Harbor and Wonderland trails, but the drive is at least half an hour to get to the main sites of Acadia. All in all it was a great home base for seeing Acadia and we really enjoyed our stay at Bass Harbor campground!

Very well-maintained site, our pitch had lots of space for our giant tent and our dog to roam about. The bathrooms and showers are very clean and always available when we needed them. Using the laundry was very easy and much needed. Location is great, on the quieter side of Acadia and you can walk down to the lighthouse for a beautiful sunset view. We loved being here for 4 nights and it was enjoyed by all ages!

Slanted, muddy campground. Very hard to sleep when you are uneven. Also the whole place is very tight, small spaces and very hard to navigate around. No lights at all, even by the bathroom, so the place is pitch black at night. Bathrooms are clean, but stained from the hard water. Good staff though, and good location for catching a sunset at Bass Harbor lighthouse if you walk there.

Cute little camp ground. Service was friendly an price is reasonable. We got lot 102, with water, septic, an power. Lots come with fire pit and picnic table. Our spot was nice an easy to pull into. The pad was not close to level. The water pressure is a bit low but we made due. We also had some red ants. But again, we made due. The shower area could use a good cleaning but other than that it was a good nights stay. Beautiful country side, nice drive, close to Acadian Park.Nearby activities: Pool, park, cornhole, trailsSafety: No crime. Very safe

I literally love this place. The tent sites are well kept. The whole grounds are convenient and clean. They offer so much. Pool, laundry, all camping essentials, very close to light house and south west harbor. The immediate area is almost magical. And the staff were just wonderful. I had the time of my life literally and really can not wait to go back. I will not camp anywhere else on the island.

Great place to stay to enjoy the area but be away from the crowds. The staff is wonderful and we had FHU with cable for a reasonable price. Seasonal pool, nice clean facilities. Some sites are unlevel but doable. There are also cabins, yurts and tent camping. Close to lighthouse, echo lake and seawall. About 45 min to Bar Harbor and most of Acadia. Bus pick up out front.

I've been coming back here for decades now! It's so nice to walk to the lighthouse for sunset or jump in the pool on a hot day. Very rustic but super convenient location for all Acadia National Park trails on "The Quiet Side" of the island. Also close to Bass Harbor Ferry to Frenchboro & Swan's Island. Multiple seafood restaurants and markets nearby.

The spaces were a little close together because we opted for electric, the rustic ones looked a little more spread out. In the end the kids made friends with the kids in the next spot so we were happy with it. The showers were frequently out of hot water. We showered with the kids at night and it was like a 50% chance of having no hot water. I really hope they plan on upgrading. But there was plenty for the kids to do if we wanted to just hang around the campground. That being said I would still stay there again.Nearby activities: It was a little further away from the main park but still was close (Walking distance with small children) to the Bass Harbor Lighthead Station. Wonderland trail is within walking distance for adults. There also is a small market a short drive away.

We loved it here! It's a bit further out, but overall, it's a good campground. We had cabin 5 to start and decided we wanted to stay, so we ended up renting the Potting Shed. The only thing I would recommend is a replacement mattress in the Potting Shed, or bring a blow-up mattress. The bathroom by the cabin area could use some type of solar light by the entry. The step starting up is not level, and several people mentioned it was a hazard. Also, I don't think clothes lines are appropriate hanging from cabins, nor people washing their clothes in the bathroom.Use the washers and dryers provided. We had to stare at a clothesline the entire time there at the cabin by the single restroom.

Very tight campground. Small sites, close together, no privacy or even a sense of being outdoors as you re only steps away from your neighbors.Showers are included and have hot water, but are dated, worn, and seem cobbled together. They re a little odd in that there s no ceiling. The men s, ladies, and shower stalls are all under one roof with just walls between - so you can hear every door slam, every toilet flush, every kid talking. Feels like it lacks privacy.Other reviews mentioning overflowing garbage dumpster are correct. They need a bigger dumpster or to empty it more frequently. No paper towels in the men s washroom for 4 days straight - so far. Basic housekeeping seems lacking.Wi-Fi is weak and spotty. No better than the weak cellular signal available here.Only ranking them as high as three stars because - sadly - seems like most campgrounds these days are about on the same level.

This campground is a great location. About 25 minutes from Acadia/ Bar Harbor and two minutes from the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Staff is friendly and helpful, bathrooms and showers always pretty clean. Our tent Site had water and electric and was dog friendly. No issues with noise or traffic at all. WiFi worked better near the office when it was needed. Lots of trails nearby too.

Bass Harbor Campground was an awesome find! It is family-oriented, beautifully wooded, very clean bathrooms and showers, and has a lovely pool and rec room. Also, Wi-Fi and a laundry room. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cute camp store. Walk to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Close to other easy trails to the ocean. Close to some great places to get lobster/lobster rolls. The free Island Explorer bus stop is right there. We stayed in one of their yurts and it was glorious! Glamping at its best! It was cool enough, even in late July. Ceiling fan and pretty ceiling lights, comfy bed, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, table and two bench seats, another standing light, 4 outlets. A gas grill, a fire pit, 2 outdoor chairs and a picnic table. We had such a good time, we are going back there this summer with kids/grandkids to do some tent camping!

We stayed for 5 days. One of our favorite private campsites over the last 12 years of camping around the US. Tent sites feel like you are staying in the national park (wow) and the RV sites fit big class A rigs. Bathroom and shower are adequate. Swimming pool is nice. The staff is friendly. You are walking distance to the lighthouse and close to some top Acadia hiking trail heads.

This was a nice campground. Quiet and cozy. We stayed in a cabin and it was adequate for our family of 5 and dog. There is a gas grill and fire pit. The cabin had a small fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The bathrooms were typical for a campground and none were very far from sites. My kids really loved the pool. It's a bit of a drive to Cadillac mountain and some of the other popular sites in Acadia and Bar Harbor from here , but Bass Harbor has its own character and fun vacation things to do too. It is still a good headquarters and we would likely stay here again if we are ever out in the area. We enjoyed the nearby Charlotte's lobster pound and the Island nature cruise.

Our very favorite camp ground to visit, very close to two short and gorgeous hikes down to the water. Wonderland and Ship Harbor I think! We would walk down to the headlight at sunset and spend some time listening to the waves and the bells after all the visitors left. It was so peaceful and serene. The campground has nicely spaced out sites with beautiful trees, well maintained grounds and bathrooms, hot water for a shower on a cold night, and you can buy whatever you could need at their shop including wood and fire starters. Can t say enough about how great this camp ground is!Bass Harbor is the best area to stay in when visiting Acadia, Bar Harbor is much busier.

Not worth $50/night. Seawall campground was better. The only positive thing is that there are showers. The road noise was terrible, and our campground was slanted all around for no good place to put a tent.

We came all the way from CT to Acadia (approx 6.5-7 hours), with the expectations of staying at this campground in order to see and enjoy the park. Our vacation turned disastrous when we were turned away (after pre-making a reservation) for being under 21. I understand that this is the campgrounds right however nowhere on their website does it say you have to be 21 and the campgrounds physically in the park (which were booked up) allow you to book at 18. This is absolutely ridiculous and left us scrambling to find somewhere else to camp or even stay. We ended up spending almost 270 dollars more for two nights (on top of putting down a down payment) just because we aren't 21 which is ridiculous. Had they put anywhere on their website you had to be 21 we obviously never would've booked. The lady at the desk also said "everyone who camps here knows you have to be 21", which we obviously did not. I hope they feel ashamed.

Great campground, the spots are a little tight and the bathroom could use a remodel but the pool is awesome, the staff is amazing. Wonderful location and easy walking distance to the lighthouse. This is our preferred spot on mount desert island. The quiet side of the island is much preferred to the bar harbor side.

Real nice place with friendly staff. Booked a tent plot for two nights, but had to depart after the one. A sure recommend. There are far more amenities than the nearby competition, and the bathouses are well maintained. You're a literal stone throw away from Bass Harbor Head Light too. Definitely worth a break if dawn visit.

I don't know how much of my experience was affected by being there during a holiday weekend but it was not the best. The campsites are super close together and overall just super loud. The bathrooms aren't the worst I've seen but they didn't refill and of the soap dispensers for the 4 days I was there. Also couldn't throw away any trash there cause the one dumpster they had was overflowing the whole time.I'm sure there are worst campsites but there are definitely better ones for less on the island.

A decently-priced and easily available way to stay on Mt Desert Isle! I like how they keep the RV park and similar amenities on one side of the road and tent sites on another. 10-min walk to a lighthouse down the road (walking is recommended because traffic balloons unexpectedly). The photo I posted is somewhat deceptive because it is the most wooded corner of the site. The star I left out is not because the bathrooms aren't clean (they are) or because we had any trouble checking in. It's that the campground is bordered by fences and roads. We thought the property would be about twice the size after reading the map, which is our own fault, I suppose. It's nice that they actually have a website that shows available sites for the range of dates and number of people you have. It does say that the site is not on the water, but why have a stock photo that is, then? You will get the same experience no matter what site you pick; they all face each other around a circular volleyball court. We had a fine time over two nights. Other campers kept it down, the campground operators weren't in our hair at all. You can get a good site for a variable price (dependent on # of people), somewhat close to your neighbors. You aren't truly out in the woods, but there are plenty of trees, a great view of the stars, and you can still get a full breath of fresh air.

Amenities were convenient and very clean. Washer and dryer available with quarters. Small camp store that only has the necessities but close to several other convenience stores. Tent site was a good size with privacy from others. Only complaint is the fire pit was small and did not have any grilling apparatus which I typically expect to find while tent camping.

This was my first camping experience and I had a wonderful time. The campground is clean, bathrooms clean enough but the showers could have been maintained a bit more. The grounds are beautiful with friendly faces everywhere. It s dog friendly with a doggie run, and by 8:30pm the camp begins to settle down for quite time. The quite time rules are strictly enforced and the smell of coffee from neighbors fill the air in the morning. Overall this campground is family friendly, dog friendly, (I even saw a cat on tie out), chill and quite. Highly recommended.

Typical campground, reasonably priced for Acadia, really close to the Bass Harbor Light House so you can walk to see it and not worry about finding a parking spot. Water available near all tent sites, bathroom facility not too far of a walk. Quiet hours for the most part seem to be respected.

A quiet, comfortable place to stay while visiting Acadia National Park. They offer numerous services to make it a suitable campground, and the hosts are very friendly. I stayed in Puffin Place which was great, with the only notable gripe being that the outdoor grill/fire pit area is directly next to the grill/fire pit of one neighboring yurt. I highly recommend walking or driving down to the nearby Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse for a great view of the sunset.

This is our second trip to Bass Harbor Campground over the past few years and we still love it here. Great location to add extra outdoor activities you may want to do in the area and close by to the campground. It's been a wonderful few days here with my grandchildren. Many things close by to explore such as bass harbor head Lighthouse, seawall, various trails. Stores close by if u need supplies. The kids loved the pool here. There is a rec room as well. We enjoyed grilling and using the firepit with our cabin.
