I've been bringing my car in to Dennis Automotive for a few years and haven't considered another shop since then. They do great work and the prices are fair. They are really good about keeping me informed throughout the service being provided at each visit. Sept 2023 - Fantastic service had major work done on my Tahoe came in on budget and under time and cost much less than any other Shop.Very clean working environment, professional mechanics, and great staff!They have been around forever, which pretty much says it all! I am so appreciative of the service and care that I (my vehicle) received while at Dennis Automotive. Everyone I dealt with was very knowledgeable and wanted to give the work their best.Not only did they help with my problem but they were very mindful about their recommendations regarding what to fix and how to fix it.There is a reason that they are busy working when other shops aren t - and that is their reputation backed up by their work.Convenient location and ability to night drop and pick up are a bonus.I highly recommend them!Services: Engine repair, Battery

My son s car was serviced here and they took great care of them. I did have my doubts about them because they had his car for three months but as a mother I didn t want anyone to take advantage and they didn t. KUDOS to this crew. Thanks

How comfortable can one be with a mechanic? I only give 4 stars probably because that's all I can comfortably give to a shop. I have brought cars there more than 10 times over the years, even after I moved away. I have full faith in their work. At first I questioned their prices but only by 20% or so. After several visits, I realize that the prices are likely reasonable, I'm just cheap. Even if slightly overpriced, I am willing to pay since I trust them. A couple times, the fix was easy and very cheap, part of the reason for trust. Probably deserve 5 stars.

My daughter is away in Louisiana at school at Loyola New Orleans. Her car broke down and it is hard enough finding a good honest mechanic at home, yet alone thousands of miles away! I called a mechanic with great reviews but they did not work on BMW/MINI and referred me to Dennis Automotive. I am very grateful for that recommendation. They took excellent care of my daughter and her car. Her car is running like a champ and her Dad is a happy Camper. Thank you for easing my worries. Car repair can be a tough experience. Honest, reliable & reasonable priceI discovered Dennis Automotive about 20 years ago. My old Honda Accord appeared to be developing a transmission problem. A couple of other shops said it would need a rebuilt transmission-about $2000. I then called various shops to price rebuilt transmissions. When I called Dennis, they asked specific questions about the problem. I mentioned that the speedometer was also broken. He explained that a broken speedometer would have to be fixed before any transmission problem could be diagnosed, and it was possible that there may not even be a transmission problem. I brought it in, they fixed the speedometer for less than $100. Problem solved - transmission was fine.Mark is intelligent and friendly; willing to explain everything in laymen's terms, and never recommending unnecessary/bogus repairs or service. If he recommends it, I don't hesitate to have it done. I brought my 2009 Honda Fit in yesterday morning for a new serpentine belt and other routine maintenance. He called me 3 times to ask questions and explain recommendations. When I picked up my car that afternoon, I drove off 100% confident that everything was done perfectly. It's reassuring to drive around knowing your car won't leave you stranded-and should last many more years/miles.

Last year, my daughter discovered this place based on customer reviews & experience. The way her serviceman, Mark, resolved the issue with her vehicle, made me a new customer also. The honesty & integrity that is displayed from the customer service to the quality of their workmanship, is exceptional.

I stopped at Dennis Automotive with an emergency, I had a problem with my 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage, there had been a vibration on the front end and through the steering wheel for the last year. It was getting close to closing time and C.J. took my car for a quick drive and immediately found the problem. He brought it back to the shop, put it up on the lift and found both of my tie rods were wearing out. Mark came out and inspected my car as well and both agreed that I would be able to drive it back home, but would need to address the issue as soon as possible. They didn't have to make the time for me and didn't make money from the visit, but they did make the time to help me. This to me is is what good people, and especially mechanics do! Help someone even when it won't make them money. I can't express how grateful I am to C.J. and Mark for taking the time at that time of day to look at my car and help me! I highly recommend these professionals for your automotive needs! I know it's hard to find a good automotive shop but they will definitely do the best job! Thank you gentlemen for getting me back out on the road with confidence!

Dennis Automotive was recommended by AAA as I was being towed. I was favorably impressed with the gentlemen who greeted me and did my initial paperwork (I believe that was Mr. Dennis?), with the way they swiped my AAA card and had all my vehicle information pulled up, and with Mark, the mechanic who worked on my car. Mark was thorough, explained everything, and took care of my car as if it were his. Though you never want to have to see a mechanic, I am glad I have found firm I can trust.

I have a fleet of vans and have dealt with a ton of shady mechanics. I see the team at Dennis at least twice a month & have nothing but good things to say. Marc and Mr Dennis are extremely honest, quick, and fair. They always make sure my team leaves with a safe and reliable vehicle we can trust on the road and the customer service is second to none. Beware!!! I paid thousands for mechanical repairs and parts only to have physical damage to my car upon pick up. I went with Dennis after thoroughly reviewing my options. I was deciding between the Volvo dealership and Dennis to do engine work on my car. Dennis cost nearly almost as much as the dealership, but they were recommended to me by someone who was a family friend of them. We spoke to them thoroughly about the cost and work to be done, and ultimately went with them. All was going well it seemed until we picked the car up. My boyfriend found a dent and a hole in the front bumper when he went to get the car! The car was physically in pristine shape when we dropped it off, and was just getting mechanical work done. We pointed out the damage to them as soon as we saw it at pick up, and they refused to accept responsibility. We have before pictures of when it arrived at Dennis so can prove this damage was not there, and thus it happened in their care. They still refuse to fix or pay for the damage caused in their care. This is appalling!!! I'm out nearly $1,000 to fix the damage they caused on top of the $6k I paid to for parts and repair. Unprofessional and horrible experience! Please beware of this company. Look elsewhere for a mechanic. Denis is overpriced, unrealiable and unprofessional!

Hi. So, my family has used Dennis Automotive for about 10 years now, primarily my mother. However, nearly every time I call to discuss a potential car drop off or ask a question I am condescended and talked down-to on the phone.For example, today I called to discuss potentially dropping off my car to them and asked for availability, the person on the other end laughed and told me that "it would be weeks before the car is done because of the level of business city-wide". That was fine. I asked if they'd be willing to work on a VW bug because I know a lot of shops prefer not too, and the person stated they'd prefer not to and gave me a referral for another shop, which I appreciated. While he was giving me the number, I said "I'm just getting something to write with" and the person stated "just write it on your window with lipstick".This is so off putting and disrespectful. I understand that I drive a stereotypically feminine car and I'm a young woman, but I cannot imagine blatantly talking to customers this way, and this is NOT the first time.One thing I will say is the person they referred me to was kind and friendly, and willing to help...so there's that.Women, maybe have a man call and see if it makes a difference because apparently, we are too dumb to be able to write down a phone number with a pen, and obviously too dumb to have someone work on our cars.

Mark with Dennis Automotive gave excellent advice and service. Also the office staff was businesslike ,courteous, friendly and gave wonderful customer service. I have taken my 97 truck to Dennis Automotive twice for repairs. The first time for a major transmission rebuilt, the second for repairs to the gear indicator on the dash board. I am completely satisfied with the work done and the time it took to do it. The service was great. They are very knowledgeable in what your vehicle problem might be and how to fix it.

This place was recommended by another mechanic for my transmission. I had my car towed there on a Friday morning and was not given a quote on the work until Monday. They were friendly on the phone and I took them as good, honest guys. My car was ready by the following Friday. I picked it up and my air condition goes out... NEVER had any problem with it before. I bring the car back to them on Monday and ask them to take a look at it and see if maybe something happened when they changed the transmission. The owner immediately gets defensive and says they weren't doing any work near the ac and that it can't be related. He asked me to leave my car with him for an entire day so they can take a look at it. I couldn't leave it that day because I just had too much going on. So I bring it back another day, when I'm prepared to have a ride. He tells me they can look at and in about in hour I should hear something. 2 hours go by so I call, they are still trying to figure out what's wrong. Another few hours go by and I call again, they still don't have any answer for me. So I go pick up my car and all they can say is its something with the electrical system. They might know how to change a transmission, but I wouldn't trust them. I've got no ac after paying them $4000 for a transmission!!

Electrical problemTwo words most vehicle owners dread...electrical problem...as it many times piles up the hours charged to track down a problem. But, evidently Dennis Automotive had seen this type of a problem before (experience) or just dumb luck; but, either way, they found the problem...an electrical ground problem causing warning lights to falsely display, and found the problem rather quickly. I do appreciate the speed in which they achieved such excellent and satisfactory results.Now, a few months later...more electrical problems:"Kinda like "Cheers", everybody knows your name."Took care of my problem in one day. Only draw back, phone call from Owner's son later that morning gave me an estimate of $410 with the tax; but upon arrival the actual bill was $554 with tax. Estimates can change; but, ouch! Need to get a 3rd party estimator, maybe? That's almost a third of my monthly retirement check. But, I'm riding cool with the a/c blower now. Just no whiskey for my pain this month. :)

I had a horrible experience on my first time thereThey had my car 9 days and they did not seem to know what they were doing. Said Toyota no longer makes the part. I called the dealer and they said that they do still make the part. I would not trust a thing Mark says. Will never make this mistake again.

The guys over at Dennis Automotive are absolutely trustworthy and reliable! If your car can and should be fixed, they ll set it straight, and if your car is beyond a reasonable point of repair, they ll certainly let you know and will definitely not try to get you to pay for work that isn t necessary.

Mark's Mid-City recommended me to Dennis Automotive, saying there was nothing wrong with my engine but the timing and the repair to fix would be cheap. When this shop first told me what was wrong (it was not the timing) and how much it would cost to fix, and that they would have to then check to see if there was anything further wrong, I thought these people were con artists! It turns out that what they determined was wrong was right on the money, and nothing else needed to be fixed. So yeah, they *won't* take you for a ride; they're one of the most honest car repair people on the planet!

These guys are great. Have been looking for a reliable and fair mechanic to work on my myriad of vehicle problems since relocating to New Orleans. These streets will shake your car apart. Enough of my problems, if you got problems call up and ask for Mark. Even if it's bad news he'll break it to you gently. Don't bother messing with small shops in the city if you have a big problem. It's worth the ride down Airline.

The guys over there really take care of you and your vehicle well. Fix it so you want have to come back a little pricey for me but a good mechanic shop is worth it

These ppl are con artists! I paid them $298 for them to fix a serpintine pulley and to replace the belt. They ensured me that I had a warranty on the belt and the labor. 2weeks later, I hear a squealing noise. I bring it back to them to ck it. They charged me $85 b/c they had to take the belt off (labor that should have been covered under the warranty!) Don't bring your car here unless u want to be overcharged!
