I've had to deal with car repair shops throughout the country, and Himel's has genuinely been my favorite. Keith and his Dad know what they are doing, and they also are the first ones to admit when they are unable to complete a service or repair. I always feel taken care of, and I've only had pleasant conversations with the Himels! My family and I have been going here for over 10 years, probably even more than 15 at this point.I seriously can't recommend them enough!

Went to a place that wanted $3000.00 to fix my car. Went to Himals and half the stuff wasn t wrong. I ve used him for over 12 years. Honest and trustworthy family owned business that provides very fair pricing and is very transparent about car concerns and options. Keith is a masterful mechanic. He located the origin of an electrical burning smell within seconds, identifying my malfunctioning alternator as the culprit which was pushing out too much current and melting plastic parts around it. He immediately checked various options for a replacement alternator and gave me two choices. He repaired my car in a timely manner and now it is running great again without any concerning burning smell.Himel s Auto Repair is tucked away off of the highway, but this gives them the ability to really focus on complex and critical car repairs. So don t judge this place by its location. After your repair here, you will walk away feeling confident that your car is fully repaired and that you were not fooled into getting things fixed that were fine in the first place, which the local car dealerships are notorious for. Lastly you will not feel like you were price gouged.I have never done a Google review, but it is sometimes hard to find an honest, quality mechanic, and I felt people should know that Himel s is a place in Terrytown that will treat you and your car right.

I trusted the other 5 star reviews, and I am so happy with my experience getting my car repaired here. Mr. Himel was more than helpful from the moment he answered the phone, even arranging to get the car towed to his shop. He was clear about the costs involved, which were totally fair, and got the work done quickly. I will continue bringing my car to him and definitely recommend to anyone in need!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Battery

Unfortunately I had to get my Jeep towed to Himel's Auto due to my poor attempt to do my own maintenance. Fortunately, I received a recommendation to take my vehicle to Himel's.After having an overheating engine and being unable to fix it or drive it to a mechanic, I threw in the towel and needed help. The shop could have easily taken me but didn't. Himel's Auto did a thorough job with the repair, and I was pleasantly surprised by his more than fair rate.In the end, I have found a mechanic in the New Orleans area that I wouldn't hesitate sending my vehicle to.The shop is a little difficult to find. You can turn off of Belle Chasse Hwy onto Enterprise Dr for the back entrance (sign on left side of road) or just turn off of Bell Chasse Hwy (no signs on front). Hours are approximately 8:00 to 5-5:30.

I have a 99 Town Car, diagnosed coil pack, replaced with Motorcraft part. Done in under an hour, Awesome. I also have a 06 Town Car, headlights not working, loose connection, under thirty minutes. Kieth is my new go-to guy. Thanks.

Mr Himel did the job quickly and explained everything thoroughly. I will return in the future. He did not over sell. I appreciated this because being a woman I have been ripped off before. Great Job!!!

Mr. Himel explained the problem and potential solution carefully and took his time. But he didn't talk down to me like other mechanics.
