Brought my truck here for transmission work about 2 years ago. Never posted a review because I figured why be petty. But after my latest incident I have to post this! Initial rebuild was $2,600+ with a stated warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles.Nice people, but the end result was awful. 1 month after total rebuild, I was back for a failed shift sensor, they kept the truck three days. 9 months later I was back again for total torque converter failure (under warranty). They kept the truck two weeks...I guess I was warranty so I went to the end of the line. 4 months later I was back (2 months out of warranty time but still had 3 thousand miles of coverage on the mileage stipulation). Total transmission failure...cost me another $1,800 to get it back on the road. Only reason I even took it to them again was they implied they would "help me out on the charges" after all the problems I had. They didn't. They just didn't mess with the valve body at all, so the price came down.Now here I am again...14 months and about 40,000 miles after spending almost $4,500 with them and the transmission failed again! The truck is in a different shop now getting rebuilt the right way. I cannot say anything against them as far as being nice people. But they cost me a lot of money, a lot of down time with no vehicle and where am I now...AT THE TRANSMISSION SHOP AGAIN!! All I can say is STAY AWAY if you have transmission problems. They won't get fixed here.

My wife brought my sons 2015 F150 here (a gift from my father, because of the high mileage 230k, thought it would be worth more to him than on a trade in) We had a few items that needed to be fixed. Check engine light was on. I'm fairly vehicle educated, have on OBDII reader and did the check. I addressed a few issues, spark plugs/coil pack change. There were a few others that I felt would be better addressed by a shop with more experience (long crank to start/fuel feed issue). So we brought it to Tanksley. They ran a diagnostic and called my wife with the issues. This is where the problems started. They told her a list of things that needed to be done and they all sounded fairly reasonable to me. Except they wanted to change the catalytic converters out at a price of $1,500. The truck is at best worth $5k. So my wife wanted to call around and get an idea if this was the going price, and we got another price from another shop for about half this. So my wife called and asked if they had started that portion of it, that we wanted to wait on that due to the price. The mechanic flat out told my wife "you can just come get it, I'm not doing any work on it" and she was caught off guard and he told her again, "just come get it, I'm not doing any work on this vehicle, you can come get it and pay for the diagnostic check". really unprofessional. Either the guy is just terrible at dealing with people or he was trying to pull one over on her thinking she's a woman she'll just agree with what we say and pay it. Was trying to keep my business in Central. Not only will i not recommend this place, but I will let every person in town I know how they treat people.Services: Transmission, Exhaust, Auto engine diagnostic

I have a Chevy Trailblazer. Transmission went out after 190, 000. Tanksley Automotive installed a New Transmission . Trailblazer has been used to commute 100 miles round trip every day for almost two years. Running absolutely perfect. Transmission has a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty, I have no doubt it will go the distance. Price was reasonable, work was fast and professional. I would recommend Tanksley Automotive to anyone.

Absolutely terrible. Screwed around what was wrong with the car, and "fixed" a problem that didn't exist. Screwed me out of a good bit of money. Nice people, very dishonest. The labor was also way too high. Don't let them screw you, go elsewhere!

20 years of servicing and repairing my cars I cant imagine going anywhere else. From little jobs to replacing my motor this Automotive Repair shop was, Honest, Efficient, and completely reasonably priced. Thanks guys for bring back Customer Service!!!!

A "John Wayne" Honest Family Business. If it's got an Engine, they can Fix it.It's the only place I can Trust my Cars with in the Entire State of Louisiana.
