The new owners have the place shaping up. Stayed in one of the cabins this weekend and they were very clean and presentable. Talked to one of the owners & he was very nice and has great plans for getting this place back up and running. Best of luck to them, we need a nice marina with rentals and restaurant on the lake on Louisiana side. I will be back soon!

Beautiful place! Cozy little cabins with fishing right out front. Wonderful restaurant. Everything was priced fair as well!!!

Restaurant, bar, water trampoline, cabins, full service RV hookups, swimming, boat launch, outdoor seating and fire pit... it's THE place to be at the South end of Toledo Bend!

Ms. Cindy, the manager, is great to deal with. The park isn't the best but it worked for my extended stay. They have beautiful sunsets across the lake. They do have on-site coin laundry. They have concrete pads but you park in the grass. The store is closed and no longer in operation at the time of writing this review (9/25/2022).

Came here to try the food, and it was excellent! Love all the work, and updates to this facility. They have basically brought Pirates Cove, back to life. With the great food, and kids area, you can't go wrong. Family fun at it's best.This was our high school stomping grounds in the 80's. Glad to see someone turn it around. They have a great bar also. You can get a drink and relax, just looking out over the cove. It's simply beautiful. And they're not done, there's more to come! Don't miss out!

Great food! The staff was extremely attentive to our needs and even accommodated us for breakfast the next day. They went above and beyond what normal restaurants would do for customers. 10/10. The views of the lake at sunset are amazing as well.

After reading only 5 star reviews online, we were excited to have this place nearby.... Until we tried it. The fresh fried pork rinds were very good. The Jalopeno poppers were house made and delicious. That's where dinner took a downturn. We arrived at 6:10 and didn't get our meal until 7:30. The fries and oysters on one plate arrived cold. The second entree still was MIA. The chef brought another poboy and fries to the table and asked what I had ordered. He went back to the kitchen and return with a beautiful chicken fried steak with COLD mashed potatoes and gravy. By this time it really didn't matter, I told him .. don't worry.. I was afraid it would take another hour and a half to get it again. It's a good thing they have an amazing sunset, Hopefully they will get their logistical issues fixed before the summertime rush.

Check out the restaurant on line before we went this evening. Then headed over to further see for ourselves. Walked in and was greeted nicely. Sat down and immediately our waitress came and took our drink order. I ordered the chicken fried steak, salad, baked potato. My wife ordered the chicken fried chicken with rice and gravy. While waiting for our order we were brought fried pork rinds which were very good. May wife order an appetizer fried cheese bits which were also very yummy. While eating my salad our food came within no time at all. We dug in and the o core was outstanding. Needless to say we left with three takeout trays. Again needlessly to say I m back sitting in my recliner waiting to eat some more of our wonderful food. And by the way they open in the morning at 8:00 am I will be there after all I m am on vacation. Phil mccloud from Dequincy.

Great place to go. Excellent retreat from hurricane delta. The staff took great care of everything. Would go there just to take a break from life. Enjoyed fishing. Glamping at it's best but bring camping dishes.

We visited the restaurant friendly people, nice clean atmosphere and wonderful food. Fried pickles with a kick and ranch dressing. French dip sandwich was huge and delicious. Hookem Special fish sandwich- fish filet breaded with pork rinds with fixings on fresh sourdough bun. Could not ask for more, this is a keeper!!!

Party of 15. Waitress did a great job. Baked potatoes were not thoroughly cooked. Grilled shrimp were not very flavorful and a bit cool. Will give it another try since they just opened.

This place has changed hands so many times over several years. View is beautiful especially at sunset in summer and love the bass fishing there at certain times of year. Nice boat launch but wish the dock by it was still there. Last visit food was good and the service great.

Just found out this place was open. Im very pleased at how it turned out. I got the salty combo had 5 pieces of fish 5 oysters fried and half and half shrimp grilled and fried with french fries and a side salad. Food was amazing i would and will recomend this place to any body. Has a family atmosphere located right on the lake. Has out door seating. Swiming area for kids and a peir. Waitress was very friendly and polite. Always had a smile. Come out to Hookems every body u will love it. *Good Job u guys*

We have a cabin in the neighborhood and always stop at the marina when we get into town. I do wish they had some groceries like the old marina did when i was a kid, but the food here is delicious and the staff is very friendly!

It was a nice family setting. The food was the best. Our waitress and the cook so nice. I will be back and tell everyone it is worth the drive to go eat and visit there.

See Edit below- They could make the place a bit nicer. All-in-all it's a boat launch with a grill and small store. They ran out of ice this past weekend. Didn't bother to bag more. The cabins tend to run on the high side and often are not full for the holidays or other weekends of typical high lake activity.Edit: New ownership has done a fantastic job of fixing the place up and making it fun. Toledo Bend is a great place and this marina is probably the best place to stop before a day on the water....prevent relax here for a day or two and enjoy swimming and other people.

Absolutely the worst place on Toledo Bend. Hot cabins, ants came in the cabin 2 hours after we arrived and got into all the food. Asked for a refund, of course they were rude and denied. They told us to move into another cabin, with our 8month old child, the cabins have window units that can barley cool anything. Would never recommend this to anyone.

Great restaurant. There's currently a new owner putting some good money in the place. We like having a nice place to go when we're at the camp and don't feel like cooking.

Excellent service. Breakfast was awesome. We will be setting up a future stay at their cabins that are 10 feet from the lake.

Just ate here for our last night stay at Toledo bend and the food was good! Service was good and the food came out in good time as well. We will definitely be back!

This is what we ve needed! Both owners and visitors to the lake are fortunate that Pirates Cove has a new owner who is turning this into a much nicer place. There s nothing nicer than a boat ride to dinner.

Their "Old School Burger" I call it The Bigger Better Butter Burger" because it's made with butter in the beef is in my opinion the BEST BURGER EVER. Hookem's is a small restaurant with BIG flavors of great food.

Horrible wait staff and the shrimp salad was overpriced and undercooked! Who would own and be proud of a restaurant like this. A JOKE, THEN THE TRIED TO STILL A WALLET, SO UNFORTUNATE SHAME ON THE NEW OWNER AND HIS CURRENT STAFF

Called made reservations for weekend. Lady I talked to said I had until that evening to cancel. So I called and had to cancel one day. The lady said that she did not tell me that. And I was going to be charged for that one day that I had to cancel after she told me that I had until that evening to cancel. So now I half to leave my house late and get there late because I'm going to be charged for a night that I was told that I had until that evening to cancel .these people do not know how to run a business. I would recommend making reservations somewhere else if you want to have the truth told to you and not be lied to so they can get your money. They must be hurting for business.

I made reservations several months in advance and it was easily done. I called more than 2 weeks in advance to cancel and was told they were going to charge me 25% cancellation fee! I explained to them a cancellation fee was never mentioned; the person on the phone discussed it (I was told) while I was on hold and Management did not care that a cancellation fee was NOT mentioned. I WILL NEVER EVER STAY THERE AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW OF THE QUESTIONABLE BUSINESS TACTICS. And yes July 10, 2013 they charged my account $50.00!

Totally enjoyed our day at Pirates Cove Marina! Kids loved to swim and play in the sand. And we ended the day with some great food at the restaurant! We will be back!

Great food, great atmosphere, but the kitchen needs a LOT of work. Waited an hour and 15 for our food....luckily the food was good!

Great food. Love the grilled shrimp Poboy, maybe need just a couple more shrimp. But over all good food and good service.
