I ve been taking both my 03 Subaru and my 87 Cadillac to Kevin for several years now. When I moved to Nola I was sad to lose the mechanic I had trusted at my last residence, I thought for sure I would never have luck to find another good one. I m very happy that my luck continued- Kevin is supremely trustworthy! For example he thought one of my vehicles needed a new Alternator. I sent the money over and when he got into it realized he could fix it at a lessor cost without replacing it and refunded me! He is great at finding more affordable solutions to problems where other mechanics would take the money and run.He works super hard and definitely deserves more time off than he gives himself. If he ever retires I ll have to get used to riding a bicycle!

Great service. Major Minor Auto was highly recommended by a friend I trust and they did not disappoint. Clear, courteous communication and an itemized diagnostic with price breakdown in advance. Everything works! Will definitely be back there.

Kevin and his team are top notch. My 2006 Scion XB was diagnosed and I was given a very fair estimate the same day I dropped it off (better service than most car shops I ve been to). Repairs were completed quickly and correctly. Kevin was excellent with his communication throughout the entire process and made me feel very confident that he stands behind every repair in his shop. I would recommend this shop to anyone who needs their car serviced and/or repaired. You won t find better in the greater New Orleans area, that s for sure.Services: Air conditioning, Brake service & repair, Oil change

Everyone I know suggested Kevin at Major Minor as the best mechanic and they were right. Had my 2012 Subaru in the shop to replace some belts and Kevin not only provided a fast fix, he kept me updated on exactly what he was fixing, when it would be finished, and eventually gave a fair price for the parts and labor. No nonsense, no long waits, no hidden charges. I found Kevin to be reliable, straightforward and trustworthy, the key traits you need in a mechanic. Drop your car off, have Kevin identify the problem, get a quote, get the work done quickly, pay a fair price work and drive off. Simple as that.

My daughter s brakes went out and she lives in New Orleans. Our mechanic that we trust (Eric s Car Care) is on the Northshore in Mandeville. Her car would not make it to Mandeville without brakes. She called friends and they recommended Kevin at Major Minor Auto on Jean Lafitte Pkwy in Chalmette. It was fixed in a couple of hours. Quick and superior service! Great service. Prompt courteous and above all, Honest. I have never had a mechanic give me back money because it cost less than he thought. I will not go anywhere else. Kevin Minor is a great mechanic. I definitely recommend this shop.

Major Minor is always my trusted mechanic. Kevin never lets me down! He does the job quickly and only does what is needed. He communicates all the way thru! Wouldn t take my vehicle anywhere else! That said I want my mechanic to be there for me. So don t swamp him with business! Ha! Kidding!

Let me say this, when I moved to New Orleans, in 2016, my sole mission was to find an honest, reliable, and gifted mechanic. I promise you, anyone in this establishment that services your car will not only have it running better, but they ll explain how it happened and how you might avoid it (if it s avoidable). In other words, kevin, his team, and Major Minor Auto is the ONLY place I d EVER take my car. Kevin is a very talented and knowledgeable mechanic, A fair and talented man as well as a great person. I will end with this as an illustration of that: I was out of the area, needed my car serviced due to some immediate issues. The mechanics there told me it was a blown head gasket, and I believed it. Took it to Kevin to have him do the work. Kevin uncovered nothing was wrong with head gaskets just the water pump. He Saved me thousands of dollars. Literally! Kevin is honest.Just got a customer for life...I took my van to Firestone, they diagnosed over $1,000 in repairs. Battery( I bought one yesterday, so this sent my hackles up with Firestone) and alternator just for the part over $400. I called Kevin, he said bring it over... It was loose battery terminals !!!Kevin saved the day. I'll bring my van here from now on.

I highly recommend taking your auto needs to Kevin @ Major Minor Auto (3024 Jean Lafitte Parkway) in Chalmette. Kevin is very cordial, knowledgeable, confident, articulate, and professional. I felt at ease dropping my car off with him for the first time. He is also fast and reasonable- I dropped my car off in the morning and it was fixed by lunchtime. I m 68 years old and Kevin is the best and most honest mechanic I have ever had in my whole life! Kevin not only tells you what your vehicle needs, he ll tell you if it doesn t need it. We took our 04 Vibe to get a new clutch. Kevin and his team are great, so we also brought a van to them for a used car inspection. Not only are they great mechanics, but they re also honest. They will work with you and help you understand what s actually going on under the hood. They also understand the value of long term customer support and fairness. Kevin is the best and I really lucked out finding him! Would not take my car to anyone else! I have an 03 Subaru and he is really experienced and knowledgeable with taking care of older cars. He really has your best interest at heart, and fixes problems at better rates than others (esp dealership). He is super generous came across town to deal with my friend s tire so she wouldn t have to tow it all the way to the shop! Go to Kevin!

I can't believe how honest this shop is.in a world full of evil..good still exist!they could have charged me 1800$ because I came in determined I had a bad timing chain..turns out i needed oil.i may be a dumb man,but they didnt take advantage of me and i apperciate that.THANK YOU!

I am so glad I met Kevin. He has taken care of me over the last year and a half and is without a doubt, the best person to ever touch any car I have ever had. He will tell you the truth about your vehicle. He doesn t sugarcoat what is needed. He will do the job right and on time. He will do his best to do it as fairly as can be. I have driven used cars for my entire adult life, and I have never had a mechanic as good as Kevin. No comparison to anyone else in New Orleans. Professional, efficient, reliable. Big shout out to Kevin. I went to three auto repair places in Chalmette who all wanted to just replace my engine. I did not want my engine changed on my son's 1999 Ford F-150. There is low mileage on it and I just needed a timing chain and heater core replaced. Kevin also informed me that we needed the manifold changed. It is great to have someone listen to you and do what you want and not what they wanted because it is "easier" but would have been more expensive to me. Great job! Will be back if needed with my other vehicles and definitely recommend him.Services: Transmission, Oil change

Kevin is a true professional and a fantastic mechanic. I am always worried about going to automotive places because I am not truly sure of the work being done and what cost I should expect. Kevin has always been truthful about the mechanical problems, what may be required to fix them, the cost, and the time. It is also very clear that Kevin loves what he does and wants the repair to be done right the first time. I have never had to bring my car back to him after a repair (and I have a 2001 SUV). Most impressively, I moved from the area recently and needed to talk to Kevin about a repair on my car (no heat). He was the only mechanic that I talked to that was aware that the part that needed replacement could be done through the glovebox. I had been quoted by 2 mechanics that the part had to be replaced by removing the dashboard and would take 9 hours of work and over $880 of labor alone. With Kevin's advice, I was able to get the car fixed within 2 hours and only $150 of labor. That is a huge cost savings. If you are within the New Orleans area, you should definitely bring your care into Major Minor!!!Services: Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

This is the best auto shop I ve found in New Orleans. Kevin is great, always quick to get my car in and out, even if it is very last minute and super short notice. Reasonable priced and awesome customer service. He does it all! Extra perk, his super cute dog is always at the shop. In the market to find a good deal on a used car? He is the man to call. Both my partner and I purchased cars with the help of Kevin. 5+ star rating.

I was being asked to pay 3K from the people who I usually go to in mid city for some work on my Subaru. My friend suggested Kevin to me and he cut the price down by more than half. He did it incredibly fast, was very professional and friendly. The work was top tier. The most honest mechanic I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Thanks again Kevin!

I was having trouble with my car being shaky and making weird noises, I took it to someone else who told me nothing was wrong. Kevin stayed open late for me and not only fixed my problem but was very helpful with explaining my issues and even showing me what was wrong. So kind and honest, he is not here to make money but really to do his job. I now feel safe leaving for a road trip and have an honest mechanic that I will definitely use in the future.Service: Steering & suspension repair

Kev Minor has been my Subaru mechanic for the last three years. His work is one and done. I ve never had to address the same problem twice. When it s repaired it s repaired. Prices are fair and reasonable and the turnover time is lightning fast. I ve recommended Kev numerous times over the years and everyone I ve referred to him are now his regular customers.

Kevin Minor was first my mechanic and now my friend because he is a great human being. He is a gifted mechanic and always charges fair prices. Whenever I take my car to any other mechanics, they never seem to diagnose the problem correctly, or end up trying to convince me into paying for a bunch of things that I don't need. I have never had this experience with Major Minor Auto.However, I am removing a star because Kevin doesn't believe in public health safety (he is a COVID19 conspiracy theorist, and I am a medical professional). Our disagreement over COVID19 policies caused us to have a falling out personally and I will no longer be frequenting his services. I can t sing praises for Major Minor Auto Repair and Kevin, the owner, loud enough!I was afraid that my 99 Subaru needed a new transmission, and I didn t want to pay to have it towed to a mechanic if it was toast. Kevin offered to came by my house in Holy Cross to test drive my car to see if it was even worth fixing. He quickly determined that the engine and transmission were fine, but the brakes and suspension were bad. My car could be made road ready again with a few repairs.While working on my car, he noticed a couple of other issues due to its age and having sat for several months: My driver s side door had been hit several years ago and was difficult to open and close. And my back hatch wouldn t open. He was able to fix both with a little elbow grease and WD40, and he didn t charge me for either. A lesser mechanic would have told me I needed a new driver s door and a new latch/lock system on my back hatch - on a 22-year old car with some miles on her.All my doors and windows now open with ease and my car runs as if the Ol Gal has been given a second life. In fact, she runs so well that I m thinking drag racing and donuts might be in her future . Or at least, some long-overdue road trips!
