Kimberly Wesley with Gates Honda in Richmond is my absolute new best friend!! From the first email exchange I felt heard and valued. It felt like we were old friends hanging out during the test drive. She was respectful of all the information I gave her, including my timeline for all the processes. She was transparent and clear. Everything was smooth. Easy. No pressure. I could not have imagined a better experience.

When we moved from TN to Richmond, we used Gates Honda to service my Ridgeline truck. I was always pleased with their service department. We now live in Somerset, KY.When we decided to buy a new SUV for my wife we shopped several local dealers but couldn t find anything that met are needs. We drove an hour to Gates Honda to see what they had to offer. We were approached by Kris King. Kris is a very affable young man and was very knowledgeable about the Honda line. We decided to negotiate a deal on a Honda Trail Sport on the lot. The process was smooth thanks to Kris s patience and the help of Alan the sales manager. We decided to take delivery the next day.I received a call from Kris the next morning informing me that Richmond was forecasted with severe weather that day and he offered since we were an hour away to take our new purchase inside the building to protect it. We really appreciated Gates care for their customer s safety. We picked up our car the next day and Kris spent all the time we needed to go over features of the vehicle, many of which we have never had on a car before. Kris gave us his mobile number for any questions we had in the future. We have purchased many new cars in our 50 years of car buying. Kris King and Gates Honda rank at the top of our experiences with auto dealers.

This was my second experience working with Dwight at Gates and both times he was incredible. I looked at multiple cars and Dwight was so patient and helpful through the whole process. Everyone at Gates Honda is so professional and nice I wouldn t take my business anywhere else and if you re looking for someone to work with I couldn t recommend Dwight enough.I m so happy with my new CRV

He not only treats his customers with respect by not pressuring his customers, but will take the time to make sure you re completely satisfied with your purchase and will even be available for help afterwards if you have any questions. Kim was incredibly helpful in our hunt for a new Honda CRV Hybrid! She had the car pulled up for us ready to test drive after calling ahead. Her no pressure attitude was refreshing and her customer service was top notch. We had a great experience shopping here, especially after having not great experiences elsewhere. Kim was amazing and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a car!

Well well, 2023 was finally the year to put the old 2002 Honda Accord out to pasture that I've been driving for... well... EVER! I reached out to Gates Honda looking for a 2024 Honda Civic Sport in blue. I was put in contact with Kimberly and she let me know when they had one arriving and scheduled a test drive with me. Kimberly wasn't available the day of my test drive (everyone needs a day off, naw'mean?) but she made sure her sales manager, Alan, knew I'd be coming and he had the car ready for me so I didn't have to wait once I got there. Fell in love with the car immediately and put a deposit on it. Finalizing the paperwork with them was a breeze, super fast, super simple. Everyone at the dealership, especially Kimberly and Alan, were extremely friendly and honestly, a real hoot :-). Never has purchasing a car gone so smoothly for me. Gates in Richmond was a little out of the way for us because we're in Lexington but I'd hands down go back to them for their amazing service and friendliness.

I bought a Honda CRV from Gates Honda today. Chris Young was my car salesman and he was the nicest salesman I ve encountered in a long time. He was knowledgeable about the car and all things Honda. He was friendly but never pushed the sale on me. I had a great experience and recommend Gates Honda. The Finance team was also helpful and helped me save a little extra!

Had a great experience buying a 2024 Honda Civic with Chris House at Gates. I thought I was a Toyota fan for life, but not only did the Civic make a huge impression on me, but so did the smooth, stress free process of purchasing a new car with the team at Gates Honda. Chris was more knowledgeable and friendly than reps at other dealerships I visited and made the overall experience a great time, going out of the way to take care of everything I needed.

Kris King is a great personable salesman at Gates Honda and was extremely patient with me and my parents as we were looking for a vehicle for my family. Within minutes he pointed out a Honda Pilot that had just came in with a clean carfax and only around 100k miles while also keeping the price lower than they were going to put it on the website for! Although my credit ended up allowing me for a new vehicle elsewhere Kris had the patience of a saint with me and congratulated me on the new purchase elsewhere.Kris is a great guy and from here on out I will definitely tell people that I had a stress free time with him at Gates.

Update 12/20/2023 (updated to 5 stars):Left original review & updates at the bottom for transparency.I was disappointed when I left the original review. At the time, I very much felt like the dealership had ignored my concerns. Since 12/9/2023 when Matt Slusher contacted me, everything has turned around.First, he apologized for not contacting me sooner and asked me to tell him about the car. He had clearly read my review, the first update, and checked their internal records. He shared information openly and honestly. He listened. I provided all of the records I had about the car. A few days later, he sent a tow truck to pick up the car.Once the car arrived at the dealership, their mechanics checked it out. Mr. Slusher kept in contact. He provided updates and let me know what to expect along the way.Once the repairs were done, he let me know. Then to ensure the repairs were complete and the car was operating as expected, he kept the car an extra day to test it out. He found something that he decided to follow up with a mechanic on. Afterwards, he provided me with additional information and scheduled a day to return the car.The car arrived back at my house today. I started it before the tow truck driver left and saw an alert on the dashboard. I immediately called Mr. Slusher. He was kind and informative. He knew that alert had not occurred the day before. He said he would talk to their mechanics and figure out what happened. If necessary, he was willing to have it towed back to them. As it turned out, the alert was caused by some sensors that triggered during the tow. He drove to my house with the handheld code reader to verify that was the case, cleared the code, and drove the car around my neighborhood to be sure the problem didn t recur.I don t know why Gates didn t respond this way the first time I called. However, once Mr. Slusher got involved, he was outstanding. He shares information calmly, clearly, and openly. He followed through on everything he said he would. He very much re-earned my trust.I never expected to change my 1 star review to a 5 star review. But Gates empowered Matt Slusher to resolve the situation and he did. He absolutely exceeded my expectations. I am grateful.Below is my original review & previous updates:Update 12/12/2023 (updated to 3 stars): One of their managers contacted me after I updated the review on 12/9/2023. He was very nice. He listened. Today, Gates sent a tow truck to pick up the car so they can check it out. I will update this again to share the outcome.Update 12/9/2023 (1 star) :The response from the company shown below may look sincere but it is not. After 9 days, they have not contacted me.I urge others to check the other 1 star reviews and check the Better Business Bureau complaints.Original review (1 star):TL/DR: Go elsewhere.On 8/18/2023 I bought a 2016 Chevy Cruze from Gates Honda. The car appeared to be in good condition. However, when I took the car in for the first oil change (11/4/2023) at a dealership closer to my home, I was informed that the car needed approximately $2,000 in repairs. That dealership suggested I contact Gates since I purchased the car such a short time ago. They said if the same situation occurred with a car they sold such a short time ago, they would make it right because that s fair and good customer service. I called Gates to see if they felt the same way. They did not.Since then, additional repairs have been necessary. I understand that I purchased a used vehicle and no one has a crystal ball to foresee future repairs. I understand that occasionally things happen. However, this hasn t been things happen. This has been everything s happened. It s hard to believe that a large dealership with a large service department would not have known about the many issues this car has had in the 3 months I ve owned it.Very disappointed. Amazing car-buying experience! We had an unusual situation with our trade and not once did Austin seem aggravated with the back and forth or all the questions. We also worked with Matt and Lance on Austin s day off and they were knowledgeable about our situation and helpful as well. I had a great experience purchasing from Gates Honda. Chris Young was outstanding to work with. We drove from out of state to purchase our Honda Accord. Communication was outstanding and they provided great photos and videos making us feel very comfortable making the four hour drive. I will definitely consider Gates with future purchase!
