Stopped here on a road trip, got in very late at night. Had a very interesting experience right off the bat - but Natalie the night clerk handled it excellently so I'm not even going to get into it. It was absolutely taken care of right away so no worries there. The entire crew that we met during our stay was very friendly and accommodating. The nature is breathtaking and the buildings are beautiful remnants of a lost age. The only reason I'm knocking a point down is because the rooms could use a bit of updating. The plumbing is a bit off and there are no refrigerators in the rooms. Outside of that it was a great experience and I'd love to come back in the summer and see how the resort feels in the busy season.

I was there for a birthday party in one of the cabins. I was unable to get a cabin for myself or a room at the lodge. It looked like the lodge and or the cabins did have openings but when I tried to book many many times online it kept saying unavailable. So I was disappointed I did not get to stay overnight. I am a native of Floyd county coming from Fayette county and was hoping to spend some wonderful quality time with family during my time visiting. It was unfortunate that the website was difficult to use and the cabin was not available. The cabin was nice and clean but yet it was very small and lacked some of the necessary utensils for overnight stays. The stove was incredibly small and space very limitedRooms: The cabin was very small. It looked like it was not updated like some of the others I had heard were

Only stopped in to eat at the restaurant. The "buffet" had salad, fish, green beans, mashed potatoes and like 3 other items...for about $20/person. Non-buffet menu consisted of about 10 things...they said their fryer was down. A ham & cheese was $10 with a bag of chips. We had called to ask about the buffet and we're told it was that day yet they said nothing of the limited options, we drove over an hour only to turn around and go elsewhere and eat. Pathetic not to mention it to us. It's robbery they were charging people VERY high prices for the most anemic buffet I've ever seen. Should be illegal. Won't be going back. Management need fired for not shutting down instead of trying to fleece people with a horrible buffet or insanely priced basic sandwiches.Food & drinks: The restaurant was beyond a bad joke.

Absolutely beautiful setting!! The staff was very friendly! I attended a conference during the week there. There were a few hiccups and some small issues, but they were able to be remedied. A lot of the rooms could use some updating. It seems like this state park receives much less funding than some others I have been to.Food & drinks: They do have dining and a bar on site. The bar was great. The food ranged from okay to good.

Prior to check-in a young lady from the office called to tell me someone has to pickup our room key before 4pm on 12/21 because no one would be in the office, restaurant or other amenities. Park rangers were available upon emergency. They closed for Christmas until 12/29. We have no instruction on how to check out. Thankfully we were able to adjust schedules to arrive prior to 4pm. We live 8 hours away. Upon arrival and check-in the front desk girl was rude. The other staff weren't friendly. The cabin could use a good cleaning and they desperately need someone to fix screens and clean gutters. Our cabin was missing a grill but we didn't know that until after we got to our cabin. The landline didn't work. Most of the lights didn't have working bulbs. Finally, I was told they wouldn't charge my debit card until checkout. The frontdesk girl said she just had to verify it. I was charged for the whole stay at time of check-in.

Currently getting a new debit card.I called to reserve a room for the night. I arrived within an hour of providing my card information and when I saw the outside Nothing like the pictures.I called and asked to cancel, and they said ok, but I could hear a sarcastic tone in her voice. My card wasn t charged and I continued on my road trip. They not only charged my card hours later, after canceling my reservation, when I called to ask what happened, she smugly replied that she will leave a note.If they had told me the policy, I would have stayed.I m not made of money. They took my $100 and refuse to refund it.Please be careful with these places. The paint is chipping across the entire exterior and appears to be falling apart. If they steal from people, you think they would at least spend the money more wisely.Fire that front desk girl, she s not good for business. If I get my money back I ll take this down.

The rooms are outdated, but quaint. The service at the restaurant was sub-par, but the steak was great! Check-in was easy, but good luck checking out early morning. Apparently they lock up the lobby sometime during the night, so I just stuck my room cards in the door jamb and left. But it is a lovely area with good views of the lake, so I'm not complaining.

Love the cottages very clean convenient to everything. The only problem was the bed. Not comfortable at all rough sleeping. But overall it was awesome stay.

I didn't stay at the resort just went to walk around. Beautiful area and close to the water. There's an area off the marina that we were able to sit on the rocks and put our feet in the water.Noteworthy details: Nearby memorial for a school bus that crash and submerged in the water.

Front desk was a mess. Did not wake up and come out of office until i banged on counter ignored my family until i said something. Room number was wrong and did not find out until i went back to have card reset to work on room number given. Entered room and it was already occupied. Went back to desk and went through process again getting front desk out of office. Staff stated on no and changed to room next to one we had just came from. No apology or anything. Second key did not work either. It is beautiful area. Having worked in hotels before in New York, I am embarrassed for the resort. I would not recommend it to anyone except for the beauty of nature there.

I'm from Prestonsburg and come back often. I usually stay in Paintsville but chose the Lodge due to being to be closer to town. The rooms have clearly been renovated fairly recently. The bathroom ceiling had some water damage but wasn't moldy, just needed to be redone entirely. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The front desk staff, however left much to be desired. We checked in after seven on a Saturday night and the young lady was not happy about working. She was less than friendly and didn't even tell us how to get to our room. There is so much potential in this resort. It just needs some TLC.Rooms: Spotlessly clean.Food & drinks: The restaurant closed very early.

Only thing good about this rv park is its in a beautiful location. I told the woman when i reserved the site that I needed full hookups. The water spigot was too far away for us to hook up, and there was no sewage hookup. The roads also suck. But the site was beautiful, there was lots of wild roses and we saw a bear so that was cool. Won't go back, but don't hate it.

I choose this campground for a anniversary out for 4 nights. Little did i know they would have major construction going on from 8am to 6pm everyday, so much for the peace and quiet! Was told they had a beach and pool but they don't! They do have a pool at the lodge but campers aren't allowed to use it. A section is the best if you want a pretty level site the rest bring plenty blocks. The mens bath house has no bench for your clothes in one stall and the other stall doesnt even work. Haven't seen a campground host at all. This is not what i would have expected from a resort very disappointed!

Jenny Wiley has a special place in my family's and my hearts and memories. This time was for the family to celebrate my beauty sister's life after her funeral. We grew up spending our summers camping there with our Grandparents and parents then continued with our own children. As adults we'd meet at the Lodge's restaurant for mother days, father days, graduations, etc. It seemed only fitting to do the same this day before everyone went on their long journey to their homes. My sister's son reserved the restaurant for it to be more private. The staff went overboard for us. We were catered to in such a respectful and kind way. The food was excellent, our drinks were kept full and all of us enjoyed having a family time in a public place. A staff member took a picture of the family in the beautifully decorated lobby that we will always cherish. My niece and her husband rented a room at the lodge for themselves and myself to rest before our travels. The room was very nice and clean. The room had a private balcony overlooking the lake which I thought was nice to have. We were amazed how inexpensive the room was. My family and I couldn't have been more pleased with the staff, accommodations, and the food.

We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom houses here. Overall a really nice place. We did some kayaking and swimming at one of the near by boat launches. House was in working order but in need of maintenance (doors do not shut right, paint chipping off, etc.). Staff was friendly and helpful. Also, houses are surrounded by trees and not right next to each other offering privacy and great views.
