I have stopped to eat here plenty of times. Whether I'm camping in the mountains, or bear hunting like I was last weekend. They have a catfish meal that is to die for! I usually don't care for catfish but they serve it in little strips with golden brown crispy breading, hush puppies, french fries, and seasonal vegetables you can't go wrong.. they also offer a cocktail sauce with horseradish mix! I went twice in one day on my last bear hunt. First I had the catfish dinner. When I came back, they had a full Christmas dinner spread Buffet style! Turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, tasty desserts, macaroni and cheese, steamed carrots, full salad bar.. simply delightful! I was camping up there one time and they even offered me a free breakfast. Very nice friendly service. Everyone is so professional and cheerful. You can tell these employees really work hard and take pride in what they are doing! I've never had a bad experience in the five or six times I have been there visiting. Side note, my parents used to eat here every Saturday morning when my mother was pregnant with me and they would have the ham and cheese omelette. The View and the restaurant is beautiful overlooking the Appalachian mountains! You just can't beat it.Nearby activities: There are so many hiking trails on Pine Mountain it's unbelievable! I even went hunting for bear Beyond the State Park boundaries. You can see chained Rock, or travel endless miles of trails with some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see. From Clear Creek, clear up the mountain! Definitely worth the trip

Our room at the lodge was very clean and given the time of the year that we came we had the place basically all to ourselves. The staff and ranger were very courteous and friendly. My son and I did the Honeymoon Falls Loop trail, which we thoroughly enjoyed.Rooms: Rooms were super clean in the lodge and we really enjoyed also having the balcony patio.Nearby activities: The location is basically within 15-30 minutes drive to Barboursville, Harlan, Middlesboro,l and Harrogate.Food & drinks: The restaurant on site at the Inn is closed Monday and Tuesday. However they do have a continental breakfast available 7 days a week from 7 am-10 am.Noteworthy details: While it is to be expected that there isn't much going on at the park pre-Memorial Day. The only thing they have available this time of the year is the hiking trails and the golf course. I think they could use a playground area. They do have an outdoor pool though that should be open Memorial Day weekend that's in close walking distance to the lodge.

This is a very good place to stay. We got very late in the night. Richard checked us in and he was amazing. We had a long drive so a friendly checkin made things better. Shout out to Richards. We are still staying in the hotel so I don t know about the breakfast buffet they offer. The views from the balcony are good . There is microwave in the checkin lobby but not in rooms nor there are fridge which is one thing to keep in mind. We were given 2 bed room n the beds were a little small hence I and my husband used different beds to sleep. I would definitely come here again.

Stayed in their cottage for Labor Day weekend. It was very clean and nice. They offer an outdoor pool, dining room, and bar. They offered music the night we were there. But it was not very good they needed more of a variety. They have a putt putt course. That could be really cute if it had some attention. We played on it each day. The kids absolutely loved it.Service in the dining room was very slow. Great for the outdoor lover hiking in small towns close by.We enjoyed our time there lots a fun with the family.

Great location, great views, and very peaceful. The lodge rooms are nice and the room balcony offers good views. Complimentary breakfast at the lodge restaurant was good and more than adequate. Had a small issue with housekeeping (the lack of), but not a deal breaker. A few hikes here at the park.... chained rock offers a great view, and the trail to the waterfalls was a nice walk (they were barely flowing though).

A mountain retreat, perfect for quiet meditation, and access to hiking trails with great views. Family activities, comfortable rooms, friendly staff. While the road is a bit twisty, it makes arrival fun.Rooms: Rooms felt like cabins that were well appointed. Best bed we had in a week and fantastic deck views.Nearby activities: The resort is like a family lodge, complete with dining room, bar, swimming, pool, mini golf, hiking trails.Food & drinks: Breakfast is provided for patrons, it was OK. We had brought our own food so we did not eat the dinner Buffay, but I would ve liked to of tried the fish.Noteworthy details: Nice gathering area with bar and fireplace overlooking nature.

My husband I drove over just to eat in their restaurant. We tried the all you can eat salad bar and it was delicious! More choices than I could eat, vegetable beef soup and dessert along with the salad. Couldn't have asked for better service. Thank you Joe!! We'll be back again. The price for what we ate was very reasonable!

First the good....The staff were amazing for the hotel. We screwed up and booked the wrong dates. They were able to fix it and get us in. Super friendly and great at what they do.The views were awesome. The location is hard to find with Google maps but we managed. All the way up is pretty much the easiest advice to give. Now the bad.The rooms have 0 sound insulation. We could hear basic conversations in the room next to ours. To make matters worse they had a dog with them that whined and barked any time they left the room.Even worse was the smoke. They have ashtrays on the balcony and people smoke right outside the rooms. The smoke could be smelled in our room and was just obnoxious. They seriously should have somewhere else to smoke further from the doors if the smoke is just going to come in everyone's rooms.

Pine Mountain Lodge is lovely. The rooms are comfortable and it is a quiet and peaceful place.But.....avoid the restaurant at all cost. The food isn't that good but the service I received for dinner on March 22nd 2023 was the worst I have ever had! Literally. When these 2 women are working, don't expect a smiling, cheerful greeting. Don't expect them to come back to you at any point and ask if everything is alright or do you need anything. Don't expect any of your dishes to be cleared and don't expect to be ask if you would like dessert, coffee or anything else when the finally drop off your check.I've never in my life seen 2 servers who were so rude, who moved so slow or who were so completely overwhelmed with 3 tables of 2 people each. I can't even image how it would go if they were actually busy.It was like it was the first day that either of them had ever worked in a restaurant. Their flat out rudeness and how incompetent they were at their jobs really ruined everything about the experience. After I waited about 15 minutes to pay my bill - remember, only 3 tables in the place- I ask to see the dinning room manager- I had to ask a person from the kitchen because the 2 women were completely ignoring me- I was told there wasn't one, which explains a lot! He did get the kitchen manager for me and she was nice, professional and knew how to treat a quest. She was the only plus in this situation. So I thank her for thatReally a joke for a dinner experience in what is other wise a lovely place.

When we arrived at the Resort I knew I was going to enjoy myself even if I just sat on the balcony and absorbed the beauty of God s creation laid out in front of me. The resort is simply beautiful. The location and scenery is amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful.Would I recommend this to my friends and family as a serene destination? You bet! Would I recommend a stay here to anyone looking for some peace and quiet? Again, you bet! It will be well worth the trip.

Revised review:The last time I was here I thought everything was wonderful. We stopped in for dinner this trip through the mountains and were pretty disappointed. The food was average at best and service was horrible. Our waitress took a long time to get our food out and when she did one of the items I ordered was missing. I was unable to get her attention, even though I was waving at her from my table. Finally she came by and I was able to let her know that I was missing part of my order. By the time my missing item came out I was finished eating. We waited several more minutes for her to bring out the check. Not happy with this visit. This is a beautiful resort park. The dinning room has stunning views overlooking the mountains. Food is wonderful and service is top notch. They have a very nice buffet Friday - Sunday. Prices are moderate and affordable. This is really one of the best places to dine along highway 25 in the Eastern Kentucky mountains. We come here yearly when we are traveling in the mountains. I highly recommend it.

This state park is well maintained and absolutely beautiful! We stayed in a cabin for three nights while attending a conference in the main lodge. The cabin is built to look primitive to what the settlers would have built. The cabin was very clean, secluded and quiet. Note- there is no Wi-Fi in the cabins and we only had one bar of cell signal which was perfectly fine with us. Also, there is not a lot of bright lighting. There are lamps and the ceiling fixture lights are dim. We enjoyed reading by the gas fireplace. If you sleep with more than one pillow, you need to bring your own. There were only two pillows on the beds and no extra blankets in the cabin. The kitchen was stocked sufficiently, no paper towels. The lodge rooms and cabins are all pet friendly, we brought our border collie with us, $50 pet fee. Check in and check out was quick and efficient. The staff were friendly. The restaurant was a nice surprise with the selection, quality and serving sizes. This is a great place to stay when visiting the area, close to many attractions and perfect for a quiet getaway to unplug.

Another gem of a state park resort. Have a pool that looks great. We arrived too late to utilize it. Fun little mini golf course, complete with windmill. Game room, with ping pong table, another little tabletop game, and a cabinet stocked with board games. Multiple walking trails. We did Hemlock Gardens. What looked like a neat educational center. We left before it opened. Stayed for its proximity to Cumberland Gap National Park. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Had dessert at the lodge restaurant, and I highly recommend the caramel skillet cookie! Also had a BLT for breakfast, and it was good. Kids had their pancakes, you get 3, and they are yuge. Stayed in a cottage. Cottage was clean, kitchen well outfitted.

Ok so this place is quite and relaxing. It does need some major upkeep when it comes to the acs and a few of its trails. Walls are a little thin. The fresh catfish is really really good and I don't do fish at all. My son loves it. The pool is nice and clean. Beautiful scenery! We have stayed multiple times now and the last time we enjoyed some deer and a fox right off our balcony. Staff is nice and professional. This place seems to not be making enough to keep up with some things. Their use to be a campground but they closed it. All on all a perfect getaway from all the craziness. Cumberland falls isn't far and there are several historic sites with in a 1hr or so. 1 major thing for us is no fridge but we pack coolers so that's a give and take I guess.

For reference on my stay, we stayed in the lodge, not the cabin. This is important because a lot of my review may not be relevant for cabin guest.I'll start with the restaurant. Our service was slow and the food is basic and bland. It's good I guess compared to everything else in the area, but by no means will this be your favorite place to eat. The view however is amazing so that makes up for it :)The room was clean and well maintained, however there are a few things that are very annoying. To start, the walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbors entire conversation, or in my case I can hear my neighbor listening to political YouTube videos on his phone while I'm trying to sleep. To add to that problem, the AC unit in the rooms can't have the fan turned on separately so you can't even have the fan on (unless heat/ac is on) just to make white noise and circulate air in the room. They should really make that option available in the thermostats as lots of people (myself included) like to sleep with a fan on. In their defense tho, I did ask the front desk about this and after housekeeping investigated and determined I was right, they did bring me a fan which was nice of them :)Last thing, and this is just plain dumb. Whoever's idea it was to put motion sensor light switch in the bathroom has clearly never used a motion sensor light before. The light automatically turns off while you're showering. This is dumb and frankly not safe at all. Put a regular freaking light switch in there. The resort is clean and well kept and the staff are very nice and helpful, so that's why I'm still giving 3 stars. Most of my other issues can easily be remedied and I hope they do so the next guest has a more comfortable stay.

Very nice place to visit. This place is nestled in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. The rooms are a bit dated, but very clean. The restaurant is just OK. I did not care much for the food, or selection. The service was very good and everyone was friendly.I will visit again next year.
