Best shop in town /the state for that matter I have trusted Jay with my vehicles for at least 15 years and never not once been disappointed very fair pricing 10/10 repair work ! I would drive from out of state to bring my vehicle here !!! Very honest people they won't just work on a car that's not worth working on without prior consultation

Do you ever get concerned when your car/truck needs a repair and you aren't sure if you can trust the auto repair shop? I know that is me b/c I know just enough about cars to be skeptical. The great news is you can put those concerns away when you take your car/truck to Jay Barker's Auto Repair. This is a family run father & son business who will be honest and fair with you and treat you right!! In other words, this isn't some franchise shop that's just trying to make a buck. This family has been in business since 1977 and are a foundation of the south Louisville community. I took my 2005 Tahoe in b/c my starter has been acting up so Brian ran some tests on it, then called me and said the test results says it's working fine but also identified this is the original starter from 2005 so I know it's only a matter of time and I travel long distances so I don't need it going out on the road. Brian replaced it and I had my truck back that afternoon and it's running great and the starter issue is gone. I will be back and I highly recommend you check these guys out for your automotive needs. You can trust them.

I truly appreciate Jay Barker and his employees at Jay Barker's Auto Repair in Louisville. He is very honest and saved me over $500 that another garage was going to charge me for an unnecessary repair. I recommend Jay highly and will not go anywhere else because I trust him to give great service with integrity and fairness.

I'm not sure what has happened to this place. I came back after having a good experience getting my A/C repaired, but my last trip left much to be desired. I had several things on my list to get done and they accomplished 1 out of 4. The things that angers me most is finding out after the fact that they left lug nuts off my wheels and they didn't repair my battery terminal issue, which was the main reason I came to them. After seeing scant mention of them fixing the battery terminal issue in the paperwork, I asked them to confirm that they fixed it, and they replied in the affirmative. All this after keeping my car for THREE DAYS?!Nah, man. Unacceptable. I would spend my time and money elsewhere.

Wanted almost $800 for doing plugs and coils on my truck. Closest parts store was only $250 for everything or $125 on RockAuto. Other shops in area wanted $400-$500 including one just a couple blocks down the road. This guy is a scam artist!

Im having a hard time with this rating because my car was sitting there for 5 days saying they were fixing the gas leak which I needed fuel lines on both sides but when I left I put 50$ in my tank and it started leaking so bad so now all my gas is gone and it smells very bad. I am so frustrated and very sad because not only did I get a recommendation but also my car sat there for days. And to put the icing on it I have to wait all the way till Tuesday to take it back and hope for the best

Dishonest place. Came here about a year ago. My car s brakes were a bit squeaky in the mornings. They tried to gyp me out of $500 because they said I needed new brakes. I took my car to Brakes 4 Less on Preston Highway and they said I didn t need new brakes at all, that the squeaky noise in the mornings was just moisture on the brakes from sitting all night.

This was my first time going to Jay Barker's to have them take a look at my wife's Corolla. A friend of mine who was a mechanic for the forces recommended him. They were quick to take it in and inspect it, and within a couple of hours had the car fixed and ready to go.I looked up the price for the repair, and they provided a really good deal for the repair.Having a trustworthy mechanic is important. I would not recommend this place. Prices are way too high. They charged $130 just to find the problem in my vehicle without fixing anything.

Honest, helpful, fast, and good. We got a bunch of things fixed quickly, well, and at a price we could afford. He was the most trustworthy-feeling person we could find, and in the end his work proved our feeling right. Thanks Jay.

Been using Jay for the last 6 years. We moved here from Mississippi in 2011 and it took us a while to find a trusted mechanic. Jay has always taken care of our interest. He has reasonable prices and he shoots straight with you. He has kept our 07 Dodge Grand Caravan in working order to the tune of 104,000+ miles. On a number of occasions he has not charged us for minor things that he should have. I can't recommend his shop enough. My only issue is Jay's shop is usually always busy because he's that reliable, yet somehow he always manages to work us in within a reasonable time-frame.

Thanks so much for the quick service and great work! My only complaint is that I asked for an estimate and didn't get one in advance. The work was double what I was expecting to pay, although not overpriced considering what was needed. I'm glad I happened to be able to cover it!

Empty your car befor you go!So took my truck there, I have a toolbox in back..dropped off on a Sunday night didn t get any call by Wednesday called and asked about it said I needed a steering knuckle I stop by on Wednesday as I had a set of keys in truck I needed. Noticed my toolbox had been pried open. I had 2 m12 Milwaukee tools missing and a kobalt tool set missing.I brought this up to jay and his response was oh really didn t even act shocked or nothing!When I asked about the cameras he said oh they don t point that way I deliverally parked my vehicle in the view of a camera, just in case something were to happen .He never offered to look on the cameras, or even attempted to make it sound like he was interested in the tools missing at all! Truck sat there tore apart for a whole additional week and no matter how many times I called he continually said he was looking for the part .Even though I inquired and asked him exactly what part he was looking for he would tell me steering knuckle or steering column or steering shaft. It was a different part. Every time I ask he never really would narrow down exactly what part he needed. Finally frustrated I told him to put it back together and just forget about it as it seemed to be like this part was hard to find.He did not charge me as he didn t have anything to charge me for, although I m very suspicious that my tools somehow ended up in his toolbox !Most definitely would not recommend I most definitely will not be back !

My gal and I bought a car from Ohio from a car dealership online, it was nowhere near what they advertised it to be, unfortunately It had a blown head gasket when we bought it, Jat and his team got it up and running in no time, rebuilding the engine and putting some new tires on it!!! They are very well trained team that do a very well job!!! Price is fair!!! Service was great!!! Jay u ever in Nashville look me up and we going to drink!!! My treat!!!!

My grandson took his car to Jay Barkers. They charged him $1200.00. When he picked it up it was smoking. The car would not drive and he had to have it towed home. They did not offer to refund his money or fix the car despite several calls and requests to fix the car so it was drivable. Terrible service. Do not use this repair shop.

Walked in needing a part put on my car. I was quoted 1 price came back the next morning dropped my car off without worries ! I was called and told my car is ready in less then 2 hours !Came to pick my car up and paid what was quoted !Jay Barker's Auto Repair:*Great Customer Service*Fast Service*Great Reasonable PriceMy car is running GREAT ! NO upselling pressure ! Every other Shop was quoting me $150 + to put a part on that took less then 2 hours. A part that I already had I really felt like other Shops was trying to take advantage of me. ( Young Lady )Thank you sooooo very much ! I'll be back if I have anymore problems with my car !!

You can stop looking for a mechanic now. This is the shop to take your vehicle. Jay is an honest guy, values his customers, and stands behind his work. He follows up regularly and will keep you in the loop. I will be recommending this shop to all my friends and family and will be bringing my vehicles to him from now on.

Jay repaired my 04 trailblazer's coolant leak. He did so in a very timely manner and kept me informed throughout the process. Best of all, he could have easily over charged for the job but the repair wasn't as extensive as first thought. I would have never known the difference without Jay's honesty. Thanks again sir, you have a customer for life!

This shop is awesome and fair! I thought my ac compressor was out and was ready to fork over a few hundred bucks, but he did a thorough inspection and realized I had a leaky hose, saving me hundreds of dollars! I don't take my car anywhere else!

I needed a new ac compressor and had an misfire in one of my cylinders. He was able to diagnose the problem but told me over the phone he wouldn't work with my warranty company because "he'd have to sit on hold and spend hours working with them, and he doesn't have that time." Was going to cost me $850 but my warranty only has a $100 deductible. I found someone who would work with them.Services: Engine repair, A/C installation & repair

Dad took his car there and tried to have some work done and was told that it wasn't covered by the warranty and that no other shop would do it as well so paid out of pocket just to be informed by the warranty company that it was supposed to have been covered and the car was in worse shape than before due to a wire that they had broke loose from the connector in which caused the throttle body to go out in which cost another 300 on top of the 600 to have it fixed the first time
