I brought my van to AAMCO on Monday 3/18/24. I called the Friday before 3/15/24 and spoke to Eric. I told him the van needed valve seals and he said bring it in. When I got there I spoke with Eric and the lead mechanic. I told them the symptoms and the lead mechanic agreed that it needed valve stem seals. I left there thinking I was in good hands and they would take care of it. Shop time for valve seals is 5 to 6 hours. When my phone rang about 5 and 1/2 hours later� I figured they were calling to say its done. Instead they told me #1 they couldn't put it up on the lift cause its too high. #2 they couldn't� hook there computer to it. Any mechanic knows that you don't� have to lift it to do valve seals and a scanner for that year van won't� tell you if it has bad valve seals. Bottom line they cost me $40 in transportation fees plus gas for there and back. Altogether 1hr and 40min driving time and a full day wasted. If they couldn't do the valve seals why not just tell me when I called on Friday? I feel as though they just had easier jobs waiting so they blew me off. Very unprofessional and put a hurting on me for the wasted time and money and I don't think they realize that or just don't� care. Waste of time and money. Mark Hearn

I appreciate this store so much. Always kind, helpful, and honest. I really appreciate the free engine checks and fair quotes.Had a slight burning smell coming from my engine. They checked and it was just some spilled oil from my last oil change. They cleaned it up and gave me a heads up on my breaks that needed replaced.

My wife & I had a Miss Fire issue with our 2012 Nissan Sentra. We took it to a local shop that diagnosed a miss fire on cylinder 4. The shop printed out our quote that broke down what was needed to fix the issue. Apon viewing the work order we noticed they were trying to Charge us $45 a piece for 4 spark plugs!!?! And telling us we needed a $100 fuel system flush. Totalling $686! Our warranty would cover the cost of the coil being replaced and labor minus shop costs. Still leaving us a bill of $314 for for the rest of the work that wouldn't be covered. Find out that they don't use a fax machine or E-fax that our warranty company needs to process the payment. Was told to find a fax machine for them but we can go somewhere else if we wanted to...So we decided to go to AAMCO on South Fourth Street today and get a second opinion. Apon our arrival. We were greeted by the Customer Service Manager Eric Edson. We explained our situation and also brought the work order from the other shop to see what he thought. After discussing the issue. He got our car in the shop for a new diagnostic check without an appointment. The Service Tech checking our car came into the waiting room and showed us we had a broken coil on cylinder four. And that our spark plugs were fine. Eric called our warranty company and got the part and labor excepted. The part was delivered while we were finalizing the paperwork for the repair. Without an appointment the Boys at AAMCO fixed are car and had us Driving again with in 2 hours! At a Much Cheaper Rate! If yous are in need of quality mechanic work along with a curtious and Professional Management Team? Definanatly go to AAMCO on South Fourth Street Lexington Kentucky!Thank you Eric and the entire AAMCO Team for the Best experience we have had to date. We will def be coming back for future work and will tell our friends and family members about how yous get it done right the first time!

Great and fast service, full transmission rebuild and back driving in under a week. The longest part was waiting on the warranty company approve the work. AAMCO team communicated every step of the way and kept me up to date. After reassembly the found another faulty part and went to pick it up same day and installed on the spot to get me out the door before the weekend. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing transmission service.Service: Transmission

My family and | were travelling from Virginia to Colorado whenwe started having serious transmission problems. We stoppedat one shop and they said it would take two weeks to get a newtransmission. Calling around we got about the same. We pulledinto AAMCO late Thursday morning and Eric was verysympathetic to our situation. They jumped right on it. After animmediate diagnosis, the transmission needed to be rebuilt. Hegave us a realistic 5 day turn, but he would try sooner. We tookup residence in the hotel next door and waited. Stopping back byan hour or so later and they already had it pulled and werepumping out the fluid. The mechanic showed me what he hadfound. Long story, slightly less long, these guys pulled off amiracle and got us back on the road in 28 hours!!! | think | spoketo 6 different technicians there and they all seemed to know ofour situation. These guys are the best. THANKS!!!

Awesome Service! They received my 2006 Hummer H2 on a Wednesday, quickly determined the problem, and worked with the warranty company to approve the repair in a couple of days. Upon approval, they rebuilt the entire transmission, replaced the rear main oil seal, replaced the oil pan gasket, and changed the oil- all within 3 days! I picked it up on the next Thursday, 9 days after I dropped it off. Super fast, very professional, and thorough. Brian, Eric, and Robert were great to work with. They kept me updated throughout the entire process and notified me in advance to approve out-of-pocket expenses that were not covered under warranty. I am thankful to have found a quality shop that I can rely on for future repairs and maintenance. I m very impressed. Thank you!

The staff was very attentive, courteous, friendly and competent. A local Honda dealer wanted to replace the transmission to the tune of $3900 and this shop accurately diagnosed the concern as being a corroded input shaft speed sensor terminal. The car was repaired for $300 and $90 of the charge was for a tow from the dealer to the AAMCO shop. In particular, Eric was instrumental in getting the vehicle repaired correctly. Update!!! BEWARE!!!! 2 months ago i took my car back to AAMCO South Broadway. They told me the transmission they put in 3 years prior was shot and wanted to charge me full price for a new one. What a joke. Do not recommend.Original Reveiw- Best place in town. Moved here from Alabama and this place quickly became my go to. Great prices and awesome staff.

Very accommodating and willing to help quickly. Most places do not care about most customers and will put u off for weeks. Not this place. This fixed me up quick with a new transmission and have since been more than willing to do maintenance checks on my truck and transmission, at anytime I call them. They always say to bring it in that same day or the very next day. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and guy that works the lobby. Don't deal with dealerships and other shops, I highly recommend these guys here and guarantee u that u will be glad u took your vehicle here as well. Great place that keeps their word.

Today has just been one of those days. The good news is is that aamco came to the rescue. I had a flat tire that was repaired by a shop that I shall not name just up the road. After putting on the new tire I start going down the street and I hear a flapping grinding noise coming out from under my van. I pulled into the aamco shop fearing the worst and hoping that someone could help me today. They got on the ball, had one of their mechanics take a look and quickly diagnosed what had happened. The chucklehead who balanced my tire put the weights on in such a way that they ground against my caliper. Luckily for me it was a simple as moving the weights to a place where they would not wreck my van. Fully expecting to pay for the mechanics time, I was relieved that they did not charge me. Even though my day has been rough so far my experience here at aamco turned it around and I'll make it home safe. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help!Service: Brakes

My car was at 3 different mechanics. 1st one pep boys in Orlando they supposedly fixed, then 16 days later broke down in Ohio on vacation tow it to 2 nd pep boys they didn t help had me tow to brownie s independent transmission they supposedly fixed it 200 miles south of them my van breaks down Again, so take it to this Aamco shop. Wow what top notch service what all those other mechanics missed this shop found the issue fixed the problem and got me back on the road to Florida. I would Highly Recommend this Awesome, kind, caring car specialist. Great job to Robert for finally finding and repairing my van properly!! Great Job to Eric and Brian for fitting us into their busy schedule and not leaving us stranded so far from home. I will definitely use this shop if ever in need on vacation again, I just wish I could bring them to Florida to be my lifetime mechanic. Great job to all 3 of you. Thanks for setting such a great example of how a mechanic should do their job. Just so you know we made it home and have not had any issues since your awesome job of replacing my cv axil, motor mount and egr valve. We got better gas mileage to. Please use this business if you want top notch mechanic service at a great value to boot. I definitely recommend them. Aamco you should do something special for this awesome team. Van broke down on the way to an NEPG race, they quickly diagnosed, ordered parts, and got the van fixed for us. The team was very courteous, informative, and transparent. The work was completed swiftly and professionally, van drives better than ever!

All around great service! I have to say I have had some pretty rough car problems in the last 10 years. Being young and broke with car problems, well you learn a lot about mechanics. I come from a small town and I once paid $130 for someone to stick a penny to hold a fuse in to make it work. With that being said after my experience today I think AAMCO deserves a great review! I have had my car fixed twice now through AAMCO, both were two totally different reasons might I add. The first time I went to the Winchester location a man named Al I think manages that one. He was very friendly, attentive, and honest. My situation isn't an easy one because I am financing my car and I have a warranty through my finance company, so to fix anything on my car the mechanics have to go back and forth over the phone with company to see whats covered and etc. I know it takes patience when completing a transaction that way. They replaced my engine and radiator with no problems, which was about 4 months ago. Then today I called in to ask a few questions at South Broadway location because I was closer to that side of town and Doug who manages answered and told me to bring it on in, that they would look at for me free of charge. I think I got there around 2p.m. today. And I think what I loved most about my experience is that they were constantly communicating with me. Doug said "Come here we want to show you whats going on." So I went in the garage and they showed me where my alternator cable was literally sparking right in front of me. They explained how dangerous it could be and that was most likely the issue and could be the cause of the other codes coming up. The mechanic, who I didn't catch his name seemed like a genuine man and again was very honest about what would need to be done. So while I was calling my warranty company, I overheard Doug on the phone and I noticed that what he was doing was calling all the options he had to try to find the most reasonable priced part because he didn't know either about my warranty. After speaking to the warranty company he then asked if I would like it done today and I said of course. It only took a few hours, they had the part brought to them and I walked to grab a bite to eat while waiting. When I got back over to pick my car up there was a new gentleman there waiting, he asked how everything was and I told him perfect and he proceeded to ask how my first experience was at the Winchester location, I told him perfect as well. He then told me he was the owner of both locations and was very happy to hear that his employees had done a great job! I would definitely recommend AAMCO for great customer service, getting straight to the problem and actually fixing it, finding the best priced parts they can, and doing free diagnostics. Recently had work done on my vehicle and do not feel that it was a fair situation. Pretty upset with myself for not backing out after I was given and estimate and told that they would bring the price down a little bit. Also, after repairs no one tried to reassure me about the price by explaining the invoice. I appreciate the work done on my vehicle and normally the people at this location are nice. I just don't feel I can trust this company for future work without having that feeling of being screwed over. Even after mentioning I felt that way no one in the office tried to reassure me.

They dropped the transmission pan to remove and replace transmission filter. Found a developing problem. Bolt had come loose, part damaged and soon the transmission would have been destroyed!Very fortunate. Work was explained and a picture was taken of what was actually happening inside of the transmission. Extremely grateful of the work that was done on my Dodge 3500!Service: Transmission

This review dedicated to the 1110 Winchester Rd branch. I am so unhappy customer with this business. I went in by recommendation from my mechanic to check the AT light and they found a common code for my vehicle pointing to the speed sensor. They charge me double of what the average part actually cost and the issue came back the very next day. The part was ranging from $50-60 on the web, or $84 from the dealer, Al sold it to me for $125. In addition, when I called next business day to tell them about the issue being returned, I received unexpected attitude from Al (totally different tone than before doing the service) and not anywhere near professional. When I discussed the issue with Al and how I was not satisfied with the price of the part, he argued that the part has 1 year warranty. Well, it did not fix the issue and AT light still showing up next day, so obviously the part was not defective. Anyhow, I took the car in today and I felt like they really doing me a great favor to look at it, besides the attitude of Al sarcastically laughing when I ask him if he feels that checking/fixing the sensor's wire will resolve the issue for good. I just wanted to understand what they doing to my car and why I have to go there multiple times for the same issue. I really had poor experience doing business with you and will not recommend you to anybody.

I cannot state enough how amazing the service I received from AAMCO was! I was having severe transmission issues with a car I had just purchased, and had received quotes from several places that were a bit out of my price range. I was extremely stressed by the time I tried calling AAMCO, but the moment I spoke with Drew (the owner) I felt a sense of relief and a sense that I had come to the right place! Not only did Drew spend a good deal of his time helping me find the most affordable deal on a used transmission (that also included a 3-year warranty!) but he also expressed personal interest in my car issues and in me as a person. I normally feel overwhelmed and confused when I go to any sort of car place, as, being a young female, I feel that many car places are trying to take advantage of me and, thus, don t care about truly explaining what is going on with my car and what options are available to me. However, Drew talked to me as an equal, gave me time to think about what I wanted to do, and expressed interest in trying to help me find the best deal financially (given that I am a grad student on a tight budget). The work on my car was completed in a very timely manner (just a few days), and I was able to take the car back after 10 days to have everything double-checked for free. Drew made me feel like one of the family , and I have never been more pleased with a car service place before. Two thumbs up, and five stars!

Updated 09/19/16 - Took my car in this week to get AC fixed and an engine light looked at. They were really really reasonable with the prices and importantly completely transparent. They called me every time they needed to do anything they had not anticipated and gave me the option whether to proceed. Bill was way under what I had expected for the work/parts put in and importantly was not a surprise. 10/10, could not recommend these guys enough.11/12/15 - Took the car in for engine light and oil change. Spoke with Drew who is the owner, Awesome experience, very friendly and spent my wait time nattering, would definitely recommend and will return (although hopefully not soon!).

Thank you, I just spoke to one of your new service technicians on the phone. (About 1 month) As a DIY person, he offered excellent customer service about the services you offer for what I needed. It is much appreciated when someone can be friendly and knowledgeable. It is refreshing in the automotive world to not have the feeling like you were being given a scare tactic sales pitch. Kudos to your employee answering the phone this morning.

The man at the front desk gave us the absolute WORST customer service.He made my 19 year old sister cry for being SO RUDE to her just for asking questions about her car. Pretty sure he was the manager of the business or something. No man should disrespect a young woman like that.

My UK college daughter had a problem with her car and the staff at AAMCO was more than accommodating. Considering that we live five hours from her, I was nervous about finding a quality auto service center in Lexington to work on her vehicle. I definitely found the right place! They treated us fairly and actually do a great job providing comfort to parents whose kids are away from home and have car troubles. I would HIGHLY recommend them to work on your vehicle!

I Highly recommend this Aamco shop because of the Customer Service Manager, Bill Simpson. I had my car's a/c checked out by another shop and all they did was a visual inspection for a few minutes. Bill did a free, full/thorough diagnostic on my car and found the issue. He repaired it quickly while I waited and I was charged was much less than the other shop's estimate. On another occasion, I had an issue with my hood release latch that I thought broke. I stopped by the Aamco shop on way to work and let Bill look at it. One minute after looking at it, it was fixed !! The guy is great ! I have my regular mechanic in Florida, but Bill is now my regular mechanic as long as I'm in Kentucky.
