I brought my car to Dunn-Rite in late November, again on 12/7/23, and again about 1/5/24, and again on 1/26/24, for the same repair. I provided the mechanic a Haynes manual for this vehicle. Their mechanic didn't even look at it as there was no grease fingerprints that would be present had he opened it.After I inspected the car when I picked it up the first time, I found several damages and unauthorized work. The owner, Donnie Slone admitted to me that he had hired a mechanic he didn't verify his qualifications. This was Thursday 12/7/23, the mechanic who did the work was fired Monday, 12/11/23.The repairs to this vehicle were to install a used oil filter housing, install a new timing belt replacement kit, and install a new water pump, including all tensioners and gaskets. The store Dunn-Rite uses to order auto parts for their business is the same company that I am employed. The damages to my vehicle are as follows:1. Cracked valve cover.2. Vacuum lines were installed incorrectly.3. Broken fuel injector connector.4. Spark plug wires installed incorrectly on the Ignition coil packs.5. The alternator wasn't even installed completely.6. Leaking engine coolant.7. Multiple engine misfires.8. The vehicle's engine temperature was running close to the point of overheating after driving it 3-4 miles on the highway. The total bill for that visit was $500.00 dollars. At no point did Donnie Slone offer to pay for the damaged valve cover, but apologized for the shoddy work.I brought the vehicle back on approximately 12/5/23 have them fix what I already paid for and I was told by Zane Slone, the owner's son, that the brand new water pump was faulty. No proof of this was provided however, I purchased another brand new water pump. I also had to buy a new valve cover and gasket set to replace the one their mechanic cracked. When I picked up my vehicle the second time after being told the repairs were complete, the problem with the leaking coolant and loose alternator belt was still an issue. This time they also didn't install the alternator ground wiring harness, and the alternator mounting bolt wasn't even tightened to the appropriate ft/lbs of torque. They did however, install the valve cover I paid for since they didn't offer to buy a new one. The cost for this visit was $450 dollars. The last time I brought the vehicle to Dunn-Rite Automotive was on or about 1/26/24. The car had just been picked up the day prior, 1/25/24 and it was repeatedly stalling at every stoplight and I was on the way to take it back so they could fix it again when the engine completely failed. The vehicle sat at Dunn-Rite for a complete work week plus the weekend from 1/26/24-2/5/24. No one at Dunn-Rite even called me during the 5 day period my vehicle was at their location. I drove to the business on 2/5/24 and asked about the status of my car. Zane Slone, the owner's son, told me the engine was "completely locked up".I obviously knew this on 1/26/24 when the vehicle's engine failed while driving to their location to fix their shoddy work. I asked Zane Slone who was going to pay for fixing that and he replied "That would be you Sir". He also said "We can find you a new engine." I informed him that wasn't going to work and that I knew they would try to get out of paying for the terrible repair work they are responsible for fixing properly. I told him that I would see them in court. At which point he got an attitude and said "We'll be there." I replied " This isn't your business, it's your father's business and have him call me."As of this review, I haven't received a phone call from the owner, and I don't expect to. The Owner has a group of unqualified mechanics working there, minus one or two. His son is rude, arrogant, smug, and completely disrespectful. In closing, I will not be taking my business to this shop ever again. I am also employed in the automotive repair industry and I will not refer any of our customers to Dunn-Rite. Also, I am a retired Soldier. If this business is willing to do this to a Veteran, they'll do it to anyone.

Why they are my mechanic and why they should be yours: Honesty. They have only been straight forward with me. Not part swappers, not people who inflate the bill. There have been times I've ASKED them to charge for things that they wrote off. Quality. These guys know what they're doing. They should have given up on my car several times, but kept with an especially difficult electrical problem with our car. Respect. They treat you like family and explain everything fully. Integrity. These guys back up the jobs that they do. Other mechanics might abandon a project once it's paid. Not these guys. I can't recommend them highly enough.Services: Electrical repair, Engine repair, A/C installation & repair

I had just purchased a home here and was moving from Ohio. Upon arrival I was backing my utility trailer into the drive way and my trucks rpms were high, it ran rough, and when I turned the wheel it jumped. Upon looking I noticed that my 4 wheel drive selector was on 4 low and even though I was turning knob the indicator was staying lit. I had helped an amazon delivery van out of a mud hole the day before in Ohio and had neglected to turn it off. Somehow I had driven over 70 miles on the freeway in 4 wheel drive. I freaked and called Dunn rite as they were right down the road from me and told them what happened I drove it gingerly down there and they told me they would take a look at it and get back to me and it could be anything form just having to manually take it out of 4 wheel to having to replace the transfer case. That really sucked so you can imagine how happy I was when the called me after the weekend and told me they had checked it out and had manually taken it out of 4 wheel and my bill would be $50! Needless to say I was elated and called a cab down there. when I got there the owner told me his dad had fixed it and asked me if when I had put it into 4 wheel I had put it into reverse and then neutral or something. I had no idea what he was talking about and he told me that he thought I had never actually had it in 4 wheel and it only locked in when I had been backing up and straightening out getting my trailer in the drive way. Well didnt I just feel like an idiot albeit a very happy one! In my defense Ive never owned a truck with 4 wheel before and had never heard anyone say anything shifting gears to activate it. Anyways I was in a real spot and they couldve very easily taken advantage of me .and they did not in the slightest which I find to be a rare thing in many industries today and I would suppose especially so in automotive repair. I now have a trusted auto shop in Ashland and would highly recommend anyone in the area looking for one call them. I just cant say enough. Good luck.

I &my friend who recently died of cancer, had done business with Donny at Dunn rite since 2012 and Donny had always did a good job&service to our vehicles, and his older son was always friendly&tried to do what was right Fast forward to 2022,Donny put his younger son in charge&he was a Cocky little smart Eli k with attitude & if you disagree with what he's attempting to tell you it starts pacing like a little bany rooster saying "I'll call the law! I'll call the law if he hadn't been on Donnie's property I'd probably took my belt off to him, which is just what he needed!! I always liked Donny&his work, but his little Chihuahua not so much,I found a better place anyhow, cheaper definitely friendlier&closer to home&they treat you like they actually Appreciate your Business&patronage.

They never returned call when I was still under warranty and I am still having the problem. All the numbers say the mailbox is full and no response on facebook or any phone number. I did not receive quality service. I stopped by and was given new phone numbers and a date to come back and get this repaired. I do believe they will take care of business. I will hopefully be back to enter a 5 star rating in a couple of weeks. I returned and I can say that they tried but were unable to repair my vehicle. At least they tried. No one else in the Tri-State area is willing to take a look at a car that leaks in the rain. Thanks guys. So, a one star to a three star.

I took my vehicle here because of a recommendation from a dealership and was impressed. They fixed my vehicle in a few hours and were nice. They offer a 1 year or 12,000 mile warranty on any work they do! Only thing was I called another place just out of curiosity and they said they could fix it for $100 and here I payed $130. Not to big of a difference though. Overall I would choose this place again!

Good honest people that do honest work. Tommy Slone and the Dunn rite staff went above and beyond my expectations. Not only do they offer quality work at an affordable price but they have one of the best warranties in the Tri state. 5 stars is an understatement for this garage.

Dunn-rite is now my regular mechanic. I have a Jaguar. It is very expensive to work on my car in a foreign, exotic shop. They ran across problems replacing an engine for me. It ended up being a bigger job than they expected. They didn't quit till it was finished and they did it right. My work is waranteed for a year! I'm thrilled with them. They have worked on my car since. Now I have another car and they are my forever mechanics. They are great people and will go out of their way to not only help you, but to do it right! Hence the name!

Quoted $600 parts & labor, then charged $857 when I went to pick it up. When I complained, I Was told by Eric that they would put the old parts back on for free. But then the owner came in & said they would still charge me labor & wanted to know what my 'problem' was. When I told him about being charged almost 50% more than I was quoted, he just argued with me & had no desire to listen even though Eric apologized for misquoting the cost to me originally. I was told by he owner they would just keep my car & if I tried to take it, he would call the police. When I told him I would be contacting an attorney, he then started swearing & yelling at me, called me crazy & then told me that I was new here & he knew everybody here & made what seemed like thinly veiled threats. When Eric apologized to me as I was leaving, the owner yelled at him to not apologize to me. Nice employees, but I wouldn't take a tricycle to this place because of being charged almost 50% more than I was quoted & also, the owner treated me worse than I've ever been treated so abusively by a business owner in my entire life. Take your business elsewhere but if you ever get stuck going to this place... Demand a WRITTEN estimate before they start work because they don't stand by their word or honor their verbal estimates. I live out of state and my truck broke down in ashland. My parents took my truck to get fixed here. We bought the parts they did the labor. When they got my truck back we noticed a huge gash on the steering wheel. When we called about the steering wheel we were told its not their problem and it was there the whole time. Finally they said they'd look for a used steering wheel. They didn't. We came up with another option of just getting it re-covered. It would only cost them 100 to do so and were told they wouldn't do anything for us and they have an attourney. In my line of work I'd pay for my mistakes and the customer would be taken care of. Id never talk to a customer the way they talked and I'd never run a business this way. They could have at least bought a steering wheel cover or at least admitted a wrong doing. The guy seemed like he was looking for someone to say something off so he could call the cops rather than fix the situation through good customer service. Needless to say we will never ever ever ever be back there and from how we were treated I'd say to stay away. Not honest at all. And look below at all the generic reviews... Hmm they all kinda sound the same... I wonder why

Dunn Rite doesn't try to sell you repairs you don't need, and have even suggested we take our vehicles to dealers to have them repaired (for recalls and such). Mechanics are polite, but they have smoked near and inside cars they've repaired for us in the past.

I have had multiple cars taken to DunnRite and they have always done a fantastic job and the cars have always run great afterwards. I reccommend them especially if you drive any GM related Manufacturer (ie Chevrolet, Pontiac, Hummer, GMC, Buick, etc.) They are always professional and take thier time to fix the car right and make sure nothing else is wrong with the car. I have never had a car break down of the same problem after they have fixed it. They are knowledgable and will call you before they do any extra work on the car if they find something else wrong with the car.In short I would prefer DunnRite over any factory dealership repair shop.

Dunn-Rite is the place to take your car to get routine maintenance or repairs. They run on time, complete the work and stand behind their work. We will always go back. If you need repairs, Dunn-Rite should be at the top of your list !

If you want honesty in this day and age not found in auto repair this is the place. If you have anything from an oil change to an engine rebuild they can help. Honest work and reasonable prices. The ONLY place I take my cars.
