I have been taking work there for many decades. Mark is one of the most knowledgeable machinist in the city of Wichita and the state of Kansas. I hope he is teaching somebody his skills because he s getting close to retirement age. I also appreciate his honesty. He doesn t mince any words.

Came in there to ask to inquire about services and was about the most unpleasant man I ve ever encountered. Extremely off putting. He obviously works at a slow pace bc just like so many other have said, he had no interest in taking the job. Not sure if it s because he can t handle his current work load or he s incompetent. Either way, I would rather pluck my eyes out rather than talk to that man again.

Called to get an idea about how to go about possibly rebuilding my engine and this guy obviously knows little to nothing about engine swaps tried to tell me I couldn't swap out a 350 rocket with a 403 when it's basically the same block and not to mention he's rude as hell and basically told me he didn't have time to be on the phone with me as if he doesn't need new customers so I definitely don't recommend even attempting to deal with this guy

Mark machined an old Kohler 1cylinder engine for me a while back. It was a job well done. The engine runs great. I will be returning to get work done on and buy parts for a 383 soon.

Another fine example of why these old shops are going out of business..... Sad to see but when you can't do the basic of basic you don't deserve to be around any longer.

I have been taking machine work to Mark since 1972. I have been involved in this industry for my entire life. I have served as a technician in many shops , served as a heavy equipment tech, and have also served a long stint as service manager at some heavy truck garages. For the last 30 years or longer I have operated my own shop and parts store.For all of these years I have trusted Mark with the same confidence that my customers also expect of me. I can offer them the finest quality work and advice because that is what Mark has always delivered. At times I was forced by circumstance to try other machine shops. None have ever delivered the stability and reliability of D.A. Clem Automotive. I don't have any reason to call anyone else. Mark runs a full service facility, and our facility relies upon him multiple times every week. He's kind, attentive, and personal. These are qualities I admire and respect. My hat is off to you Mark!

I had two experiences trying to work with this company. First I was calling shops attempting to find the best options for a possibly cracked/warped head. He refused to answer any questions I had as a somebody without detailed knowledge of the inner workings of cars. I asked him which shops he preferred to work with but this guy must not be able to keep working relationships with shops because of his attitude. He said speak with him when you just have the part to machine. I spoke with him a second time today now that I worked with a mechanic to get the head disassembled from the engine. I have it out and ready to work on but he had the same attitude issues just trying to get pricing on verifying the head is still in spec and not warped or cracked. If its this hard just getting him to work on something imagine if you actually had an issue after having him do some work.

Mark went through a set of Ford FE heads for me. Valve job, valve guides, hardened seats, and converted from umbrella to positive seals. Very fast, very high quality work. This is one of the most competent automotive machine shops in the region. With that said, Mark is no-nonsense, and he's going to do it the right way no matter what. So be prepared to just listen...hard for most to do these days...especially racers. I wish I could freeze this shop in time forever. Shops like this built America.

run down shop, had high hopes for quality work as he was referred to me by a bigger machine shop I normally use. He didn't approve of my use, or need to run billet forged parts in my motor. Flat out asked me "Do you know anything about building a engine? you know nothing". I was there to have him bore my block, and grind my crank down. He refused my service because he didn't like how I was building MY engine with MY money. I was there to have him do the machine work, NOT build my engine. I won't refer anybody to this guy myself, PLENTY of shops in Wichita, and neighboring states that will do this kind of work. I was just, and STILL shocked how he treated me. Glad I didn't leave my parts there to be done. Avoid this shop, and go elsewhere!

Mark machined and rebuilt my 327 sbc. I was looking for a reliable hot street setup (oxymoron right?). He advised me on cam selection and pistons. This engine has never missed a beat. I have driven the car cross-country in the Hotrod power tour. I always have confidence the motor will get me where I want to go. Exactly what I was looking for.

It's all in the details! Meticulous and Precision are two that come to mind each time I step into their shop! Motorcycles and ATVs need to know this is the shop for your top-end rebuild!!

i was not knowledgeable about all the things inside a motor instead of helping and answering questions and helping me restore the engine block he says i dont need your business basically get out , he always has a attitude and is rude . very bad customer service i would not recommend this shop .

Extremely poor customer service. As stated by others, I just got lectured. Old guy on the phone had an attitude. He was not even give me an estimate over the phone.. not even a price per hour. Will not do business with him ever. I am even confused on how it has three stars, surprised it doesn't have less.

This man does exceptional work. He balanced my 383 Stroker Motor about 18 years ago. I was very impressed with his articulation and meticulous attention to detail.

Only place I've found in Wichita that can bore a motorcycle cylinder. Fair price and very quick turnaround.

Only place I have ever found that would bore golf cart engines. Does great work in a timely fashion.

poor customer service. I just wanted a cylinder hone service and got lectured. all he had to say is yes or no. This is 2018 not 1949.

Says doesn't do BMW engines and can't turn a heat treated crank. Fact is...BMW cranks are heat treated. They are forged. And plenty of BMW cranks have been turned and ran for a long time.
