Great experience while we stayed. The person working the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I brought my grandma with me and booked the Wizard of Oz room as a surprise and she LOVED it.My only suggestions would be to double check to make sure the bathroom is fully stocked (we didn't have toilet paper when we arrived) and to touch up the mural in the bathroom if possible because the paint is a little chipped. :)

Pleasantly surprised. I remember when this place was a dump, but it is really nice now. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I did not get the room I ordered. However it was a VERY busy weekend and my room was still very nice and clean. They were even doing more work. I will be staying here again. I hope when I stay again that even more improvements are made. Oh and I really enjoyed the way they have the doors set up. I didn't even have to go to the desk! The price was decent too especially for a big event like Tulip festival.Rooms: The rooms were clean and comfortable.Walkability: There are several places within walking distance including Pizza hut.

Under new management. They haven t fixed anything yet as of 9/1/23.- electricity breaker flipped every five minutes- dirty floors- cockroach in bathroom- no trashcan- no coffee- refrigerator didn t work- phone number on auto text, emails and website is disconnected- office is vacant but looks like a crime scene insideI hunted down a cleaning lady to learn that the motel is now run by Wamego Inn across the street. Luckily, they had one room left there and let me move. My family members staying at the Simmer weren t so lucky.The Simmer needs to be closed and undergo a full renovation and inspections before they book anymore guests.

I tried to stay there in one of the sweets, it was extremely dated and had no TV in the room as shown with the pictures showed. Don't expect much from this place. I asked for another room, through text, BTW they won't talk to you on the phone, a matter of fact there is no one in the office and no one to talk to. I had to text them to get another room witch took 45 min to do with no luck. I had to cancel my reservation and ask for a refund.

I stayed in the Wizard of Oz themed room. It was adorable! For a motel, I didn t expect much but overall I was very comfortable. The shower pressure was great! It was a quiet area. Wamego is an adorable town.

My husband and I loved staying at this quaint motel. It was very clean, quiet, and the most comfortable bed we ve ever had in a hotel/motel. Having microwaves and refrigerators in every room is also great! The layout of the room was well though out. Checking in was speedy and staff was friendly. We would absolutely recommend this property and we look forward to returning! (I stayed here a few years ago with the past owners and it was not a good experience, the new owners have really improved this place and it is so much better, so give it a try!)

We wanted just a night to ourselves. Last time we stayed here when the old owners still owned it was fantastic. Now, not so much. We walked in, there was cleaning solution behind the TV. Next I checked the bed sheets as I always do, they were fine. Next the night stands had sticky substances all over them, again not going to complain cause it was just a fun night for the husband and I. There was some random soap in the shower so you know it hadn't been cleaned. There was ice cream in the fridge for God only knows how long. The next day we checked out then got a 100 dollar charge for using soap in the spa tub. Which we did not. We used what was provided. We noticed a scum forming after we were in the tub and shut it off and drained it. Very bad experience this time.

I've stayed in this motel many times over the course of 27 years. Always loved it but this time we couldn't stay there due to the filthiness of the place. Old food left in fridge and microwave. Toe nail clippings on the floor on both sides of the bed and carpet not vacuumed or shampooed in quite some time. Ants had taken over the room as well. The hot tub was not clean. They provide towels but do not provide wash cloths. No coffee maker. Very disappointed.

Nice little place ! Rooms clean and quiet ! Fridge , microwave . Nice big tv .Beds comfy ! What more can a guy ask for ? Weldor approved ! Wamego is a nice little old school town !Would recommend to anyone !

Room was supposed to be non-smoking. Everything smelled like cigarettes. My sheets had stains and the counters were dirty. But that's just one side of the bad. I found three different numbers to call, no one picked up or returned any of my calls. There was two other couples trying to contact someone but the motel staff was MIA. I even tried emailing them and it failed to send. One couple said they received multiple codes to different rooms and were unsure where to stay. One room had someone staying there already. Who knows who else had our codes. Needless to say, we didn't stay. The hotel across is a hundred times better and cleaner with great service.

I really wanted to like this place. From the exterior it looks nicely maintained. Check in is totally virtual. You are texted instructions on how to operate the electronic locks. No keys. Although clean, the room I was in was clean it bore no resemblance to the advertised room. My room was dark gray and contained 2 beds, without headboards,and 2 small bedstead. The microwave and refrigerator did not work. What really sealed this review though, was the way the 2 resident care takers/managers orwhatever they were treated another guest who was having problems with the lock on her room door. They were hostile, aggressive and rude. I cannot in good conscience recommend this motel.

Do not stay here. They're almost completely automated, and the access code I got sent to me didn't work for my room. Hair in the bed, dead and living bugs all over the place. Lights didn't work and there was trash in the bathtub. Wizard of Oz room was creepy.Not sure how it has a 4 star avg, but it looks like it used to be nice but has completely gone downhill reading other reviews. Don't waste your money.

This place is crazy cool with antique rooms! Someone in the town recommended it and they were right. It's so unique. I have never stayed at a motel like that and will definitely be back to see the other themes. It even has a playgroundand several acres of grass.No ice machine which was odd but it's a really outside and big place; maybe that's why? Oh and no coffee machines which I really don't get. Stores within steps so it wasn't a big deal. The only real downside were these two women that just were nasty to the staff. The dude in the vest must be a saint to have dealt with them so many times.They even made comments to us about our parking job and how loud our kids were laughing at 7 pm. Children's laughter is a reason to call the cops? Aside from that we loved it and the kids tired themselves out on the playground and running in the big grass fields. Really good for families!

My wife and i brought our parents over to Kansas for sightseeing but at the time of check-in, they got a room that was already preoccupied. And long behold, no one was in the front desk only with two phone numbers for emergencies. We called continuously and got no response. The only room that was good to go was ours and even then it was not worth it. The sheets were stained and it smelled like sweat and cigarettes. The tub was slick with grease like substances. Never going back there again, they are refusing to refund so thats it for us.

Room was perfect. Loved the jetted tub loved the bed one of the best motel I've ever stayed at didn't hear a single noise. Motel was amazing and clean definitely will be back. Service was unavailable unless requesteddue to covid 19 restrictions so can't comment on that but I'm sure it would of been great as everything else was.

if I could give zero star I would! horrible room, no clean towels, service was awful. We originally booked three nights, but caught someone who said she was management on our arrival and changed to two nights (this was before we even saw the room) and she updated our stay. the two days we were there NO ONE was ever in the office, NO ONE ever answered a phone. They did not credit me back for the shortened stay and charged my credit card for the original amount. every effort I made to contact them, both on site and following our departure was unanswered. I would NEVER recommend this business to anyone and will never stay there again, I'd as soon sleep in my car by the roadside. AWFULL!!!

I was forced to get a room due to my AC going out on a 98� day. I was pleasantly surprised by the Simmer motel! The room has old furnishings, but they were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless; no mold or scum anywhere. The towels were better quality than many hotels I've stayed at and they had all the amenities you need. It was a happy accident coming here but in the future when family comes to town I'm booking them here.

My dad is buried in Wamego, so mom and I always stay at the Summer Motel when we visit. It USED TO BE a great, affordable place to stay, with friendly owners.But there are new owners now, and I don't know if we will stay there again.First, we reserved the room we ALWAYS stay in (40 years now) and were told it would be fine. We get there, and it's been rented out. That's after driving 5+ hours, and having to wait nearly an hour for someone to answer the buzzer.Second, check in time is at 3, we got there by 2:15, and buzzed the door. Nobody answered. Buzzed every 10 minutes, until we finally spotted someone from housecleaning making her rounds. SHE was able to get a man (manager???) to help us, but even HE couldn't get into our room (which was NOT the room we reserved.) The housekeeper let us in, and at 3:15 he said he'd "get back to us with the code for the door." Finally around 7pm, I called the front desk, and he answered. Said he'd forgotten about us, but would get the code to us ASAP. 15-20 more minutes later, we finally had a door code. And there were about 5 other rooms with folks in them, so it's not like they were busy.We had reserved 4 nights, but told them upon check-in that we would only need 3. They didn't seem inclined to credit the 4th night, but of course they hit the credit card the second we made the reservation. It's been almost 3 weeks, and we're still waiting for that refund.There are other hotels and motels nearby, including one basically across the street, and that's where we will stay from now on.Housekeeping only cleans/brings towels upon check-out, but the gal was nice, and did her best to help us. SHE gets 5 stars. Management gets ---5 stars.

The service (front desk) were so polite, welcoming and friendly!The room I stayed in was very clean and orderly.The Atmosphere of the Room was so embracing!Very easy to unwind, settle in and relax!And there bed and its linens was so comfortable.I slept so well.It's in the perfect location for town and you just cant beat the price!My experience overall was everything I could hope and ask for.If you're passing through or Visiting this area for a stint, I definitely suggest the Simmer Motel.

We came for a couple days and absolutely loved it. The rooms were amazing and so nice and VERY clean. I would definitely come back with my family including my 2 year old. Annette was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed and did an amazing job cleaning. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. I was actually sad to leave definitely coming back if we are in the area. Thank you!!!!!

I stayed here for a week and the temperature got down to single digits a few nights and was expected to keep warm with a space heater. I informed management and their fix was a different space heater. I was told not to plug them in at the same time. I informed them again it wouldn t warm the room past 62 in the evening and they said they would have it fixed the next day. No reply from them when it wasn t fixed. They could of just offered another room. On top of that they don t provide wash cloths either.

This place no longer has on-site management. No coffee, no cups, no hair dryers, no hangers. Dirty underwear on floor on bathroom arrival. Special requests ignored. Blamed on Canadian booking service. Got a 1 star because there was at least a tv and hot water. Never coming back. Which is a shame because we've had great times here in the past. Sad.

I had to fly down home immediately after hearing my mother s cancer had taken a turn for the worst. The simmer has been so amazing to me and my family. They are super accommodating and helped out with a lot. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the beds and pillows are awesome as well. Mourning the loss of my mom was made a bit easier with their help. Prices are great and they have weekly rates as well that helped so much. Thanks again guys. Your front desk clerk was so helpful as well!

First, we brought our dog, we paid the fee and we were so careful not to have any damage. I double checked everything and even straightened up before leaving. They got my husband's name mixed up with another person and charged us $50 for damage to an indoor chain lock - there was not one in our room (guy said that is a common damage charge). Finally after a lengthy and aggravating discussion, he realized that this was a different room than ours The guy said it is because there are so many with our same common hispanic last name. Then he back petals and claims totally different damage - pet stains. It was definitely not us - the stain in the photo was huge. Not sure an animal could even make the stain much less a little dog. Said they had to replace the duvet cover but there wasn't one to begin with. If not for this, we would overlook these things: the remote didn't work, there is no desk chair, it sounds like an airplane is landing when you use the toilet and or the exhaust fan. The microwave door scrapes on the carpet. They don't clean up the yard waste but they do charge for pets, and it is disgusting to walk the dog there, the odor smells when you open your door if your room if it is nearby the grass field. We didn't get this room for bargain basement pricing. Not worth it even if we did.We used to go for the nostalgia, but we're done with that.

Great little American family owned and operated motel in a quaint town. Single rooms, suites, double rooms with full kitchens, even apartments! Excellent options for our group. We spent nearly a month here, along with several members of our crew. The first thing I noted was the attention to detail in the cleanliness of the room. NO dust on lightbulbs or fans, the window sills were very clean and the curtains were updated and clean. I am all about a CLEAN room and this place passed my test with flying colors. The owners and staff were MOST accommodating, helpful and friendly. Since we were an 'extended stay', they offered any additional appliances we may need, including a larger refrigerator, crock pots, etc. There were two beds in our suite and we only required one - but I needed space to set up an office. They were great about letting us take down the bed and stored it for the duration of our stay. Not the most updated bedroom furniture, but what they did have was very clean, inside and out. There is a laundry room here and it is cheaper than the local laundromat. Quarters for that are available in the office. For little ones, there is an amply equipped playground to get them out in the fresh air. There's an outdoor pool but it was already closed for the season when we arrived. Overall, this is one place that I highly recommend and will stay again if the opportunity arises.

Started out rocky but they made it right with a positive & friendly attitude! Room was just perfect! On a snowy cold day I enjoyed a hot Jacuzzi bath after a wonderful nights sleep on a very comfortable bed! Great American Motel!
