I was on a road trip, 1,300 miles from home and heading to a wedding when my transmission valve began failing. This Aamco took my car back almost immediately, did all the leg work to figure out what was wrong, where parts were, etc. It turned out the repair was covered under warranty, so ultimately I got it repaired at the dealership, which the staff made no complaint about despite helping me extensively. They didn't even charge me for the diagnostic. They were willing and able to do the job very fast had I stayed with them and they were so friendly to a soul lost in the middle of Kansas.Service: Transmission

A+ service by John Hillis and crew on diagnosing/replacing my car engine!!! My car broke down near Salina, KS while traveling from CO to OKC where John's crew quickly determined my oil drain plug fell out and my engine seized up. Furthermore, John was a huge help in keeping me calm throughout this out of state ordeal and further helped me focus on successfully making a claim against my local service center in which their insurance determined that they were 100% liable for the damage to my engine, paid for the full cost of a new engine, and I was reimbursed 100% for all my travel expenses.John was really good about keeping me up to date on the progress of my car along with letting me know what's going on insurance claim process. It took about a 2 weeks overall to get my car back...but only 1 day was used by John's crew to get my car back to running like new. Majority of this time was waiting on the insurance company to send an inspector over to look at my car as well as making a determination/processing full payment of the repairs.I highly recommend this shop...especially for their excellent service, professionalism, and expertise!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair, Oil change

Every great small business has, at its core, great people. Savannah, the shop manager and service writer, was a joy to work with, and her two-member team of technicians, Skylar and Matt, were among the most dedicated techs I've encountered in my 45 years of motoring. While touring the Nebraska/Kansas plains with my little red camper in tow, my old Dodge Dakota destroyed its transfer case about 25 miles north of Salina, but I managed to limp in to Total Car Care. Despite difficulties finding components for this 90s vintage truck, the team remained dedicated to making the repairs as rapidly as possible and getting me back on the road. Brought in my truck with a $3100 one week quote. Ended up taking 6 weeks and $4200. The shop would not give me a straight answer. After 3 weeks I asked nearly every day and was repeatedly told it would be done "today or tomorrow" after getting my truck at the end of week 6, the truck would not drive over 40mph, I had a terrible back fire and awful fuel mileage. I called the shop and they said they could not fix it as it was not the transmission causing the issue. Do not use this shop, I was without a vehicle for 6 weeks... unbelievable.Service: Transmission

Nice shop to do business with just wish there was more leeway on where they can shop for parts so as not to be too expensive for the customer. Spent more on the work I had done here than what is owed on the vehicle itself. I can find lower priced parts by searching other avenues, then they should be allowed to do that also and not have to go through just certain companies who raise prices exponentially just to make a large profit off the consumer.

If I could give less than a star I definitely would . This shop is the most unprofessional place I've ever used. I was repeatedly told what I wanted to hear not what was the actual truth .. the manager John has no idea what he is doing or what a manager should do. I also run a very successful business and if I had him as a manager or employee he wouldn't be there long. He promises things he shouldn't just to get your money. I have paid with cash for a transmission to be rebuilt 5608.80 in cash waited longer than promised for it to not even start the day I picked it up due to the mechanic not putting into part completely or so he said and since it was right at close I trusted he was right it was a 1 tome thing but not the case for the next few days it would occasionally not start unless I moved the shifter in and out of park I called John on Friday afternoon and was told it just needed an adjustment and to bri g it back however i run a business and it was friday afternoon busiest day for my restaurant so monnday was when i planed to return with it over the weekend I noticed it was not working correctly it had very little power when entering the interstate once it got up tp speed it seemed OK but each and every time I would again not have the proper power when getting on the interstate. On Monday I returned with my car the mechanic ( not the manager) rode in the car and said it takes a few weeks for the computer to relearn and it was normal. I said I needed to go out of town 3 hours away and he assured me it was OK to travel . Not a full 2 weeks from picking up my car it's now back in their shop in need of the same repair it stopped working I was told they would get right on it at 1130 am as of 530 pm it hadn't even been looked at and had just been pulled into the bay and was not going to even be looked at until morning. John had no clue what's happening in his shop he promises things he shouldn't and he has no business being a manager . I am a general manager and can definitely say I would handle this situation completely different I would be honest with the customer to start with .. do not believe John if you decode to use this shop. He doesn't do anything a manager should he has no idea what goin on in his shop he isn't a mechanic he has no people skills and overall is just a lier making commission on my hard earned money and yet I'm just suppose to " give him the benefit of doubt" as he said at 535 pm promising me yet again something he already promised and failed at. I do not believe or trust anything he says and neither should anyone else 5608.80 cash lesson learned go to anybody besides this shop

I had a problem with my windshield wiper reservoir leak but apparently it was a minor fix. They fixed it free of charge. Great place and very clean. They don't have a TV but you stream videos on your phone. Very friendly staff

Had a transmission replaced on a 2019 expedition and replaced cams and followers on my 2018 f150. They were very professional and got work done in a timely manner. I shoulda known better. The guys that were working there when i had my clutch replaced were so unprofessional rude fleeting convoluted and just bad at customer service. I shoulda just gone with virgil. They had my car up on the lift to get up under it and had the enfine supported by a tripod looking stand on its oil pan....well the oil pan broke causing the entire unit to shift in a way it was not meant to. Well that damaged my cars frame brole two motormounts and bent the exhaust downpipe. Thats 1. 2 the never replaced my slave/maste4 cylinder. But charged me for a new one AND labor fpr removal replacement. AND 3 they said their suppiler sent the wrong part and charged me another 200 some odd dollars get this for a new oil pan after they had had my car for 2 days. All together 1800 dollars i paid cash plus another 200 or so. Welp. Driving home 1200 miles the brakes went completly out and the engine blew.. AT ONCE! I crashed into a ditch. I was on i 95 near quantinco VA. And could have easily crashed into on coming traffic.. car was a total loss due to frame damage. I was not reimbursed for the recent repairs and those guys called the police on me when i asked them what happend to my car.1 I do not need to be gratefull when paying for services in cash. 2. Civil suit would have been to prove a point. 3 if you take your car here for repair just know your risking your life and those around you. Do not trust these people with your car.

Was told transmission would take 4-5 days to complete. We are now on week 4 with no end in sight. They promise to call, but never do. They get annoyed with you when you check on your vehicle. Seem to refuse to check on recalls to make your bill more reasonable, but are quick to let you know about all the manufacturer defects (without actually telling you what they are). They send transmission work to Wichita to be completed and then reinstalled in your vehicle here. Would not recommend this place to have a light bulb changed (that could probably take 3-4 days). And we are still waiting for our car.Service: Transmission

These guys did a great job! Fixed my car and saved me money. With a baby boy, right around the corner I couldn't have went to a better place! They are very kind and considerate and will keep you updated on the project. Both of the front operators are super nice and Darel actually started my car and warmed it up too! I had an amazing experience at this shop.Crystal in the front office and her husband Chesra the main shop mechanic give the feel of a mom and pop shop but with the benefit of the AAMCO quality and warranties.They let me stay in my camper van in their parking lot while I waited for parts to arrive.I spent a few days observing how they do business and I m extremely impressed with their honesty, technical knowledge, and kindness.You ll get fair prices, great quality work, and no BS at this shop. Can t recommend it enough.Thank you both for everything, seriously blessed to have found you. Getting stuck and changing plans sucks, but you helped me keep a positive attitude through it. Bailey and I are forever grateful. :)

We experienced vehicle issues while passing through Salina on a roadtrip from Colorado returning home to Florida. My 1st attempt was to call a local dealer. However, they were booked well into the following week. I decided to give this AAMCO a shot. They worked me in and were able to get us ready to be back on the road the same day. My truck broke down stranding me. I wasn't able to get any repair shop to help. I called, but couldn't get through to AAMCO. Then the manager called me back. She said they could repair my truck. I had it towed there and they immediately gave me the analysis of what was wrong. They followed this with a quick cost estimate. They then fixed my car within days. I cannot tell you how much they helped me. I was stranded with no help and they took over and got the truck fixed quickly and right on the bid they gave me. My truck runs great and I drove it five hours home. If you have a broken vehicle this is the place to take it. They are fast, efficient, and most of all helpful.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

Check engine light came on everywhere else was busy... Great service they got me in right away ... they ran some test made sure it was just my spark plugs and not my coil packs as well ... All and all got new plugs they put them in recommend a cleaning definitely got that .... It was an awesome friendly place to get my car fixed at I will definitely be going there again. Thanks Crystal for a great experience !!!!

Stranded 8 hours from home and 7 hours from our destination. My vehicle became unsafe to drive due to the wheel barring going out. Jeep wanted to charge 750 for parts (some that weren t even broken). AAMCO fit us into their schedule and stayed late to work on my car to get my family back on the road. Great customer service and tech who went out of their way to help get me back on the road and safely! Thank you !

Chevrolet Silverado 3500 dually needed brake repair. We were traveling through Salina. We called John and he agreed to fit us in that afternoon. Dan worked an hour past closing to complete the job so we could continue our journey.Great conversations with John, Dan and Skylar throughout the afternoon. They explained what was transpiring with the work and John gave me a great trip for hauling our 5th wheel trailer.Thanks guysService: Brakes

Best customer service!! My family and I were passing through Kansas staying at a family home in the middle of no where. Of course that means we have car trouble. Called Crystal at the last minute on a Friday and they got is in first thing the next morning. Lo and behold it was our transmission (as we suspected) and we were carless for a while. They were so kind and not only gave is a ride back home but brought our car to us when it was finished as we were stuck in the country with no transportation. Definitely recommend this shop to anyone :)

We got our vehicle back and ended up having to take it to a different shop for an alignment as well as new front tires because the tires that were almost new originally when we dropped it off at AAMCO were destroyed because an alignment was never done when they did the tie rod ends on our vehicle. Our A/C was supposed to get fixed and never was we lost our A/C again 2 days later

This shop and it's people have bent over backwards to help me and my family in our time of need. Long story short, while moving across the country, my car threw a transmission and broke down in Salina because our dealership messed up a service that was done before we prior to us leaving. Krystal (spelling) truly treated us like a part of her family during this time and went above and beyond any expectations I had of a mechanic shop. Not only did she keep me updated on what was wrong with my car and what was being done to fix it, she kept detailed records and took pictures of the transmission in case we needed it for our lawsuit against the dealership. Without her and her amazing shop, I would have worried myself sick and lost my mind over the whole situation. She treated me with respect, was honest and didn't beat around the bush about costs, went out of her way to help me get my car back in my possession and most importantly, she made it her personal responsibility to see my situation rightfully resolved. I cannot say enough good things about her and AAMCO and I can promise you we won't take any vehicle of our anywhere else.

Cristal and her husband were so nice to my wife and I. They listened to our concerns about our vehicle and grasped quickly what the situation was after a quick drive. We were thankful to hear that the problem was so minor that her husband fixed it in a few minutes. It is rare to find people in business who want to help you and not rip you off. Way to go guys.

Broke down on I70 outside of Salina. The tow company recommended this place and dropped my car there. They did a great job of getting me back on the road ASAP. The manager was very courteous and up front with all the work needed and associated costs. I was en route to a wedding when my driveshaft broke in half and destroyed my transmission and transfer case. By end of business the next day I was back on the road with rebuilt transmission, new driveshaft, and transfer case. Very satisfied with the repairs and level of customer service.

I just want to say how great it was to work with Krystal and her husband at the AAMCO in Salina! Our truck needed a tune up and our transmission fixed. Before anything was done we were told how bad the damage was and how much it was going to cost us. They kept us updated on the truck and everything was done on time as promised. Great to work with honest professionals like these people! If you need anything done for your vehicle I highly recommend the aamco in salina!!

Our transmission started going out while we were en route from Colorado to Indiana. After contacting AAMCO in Salina, Savannah, the customer service manager, spent almost 2 hours, long after closing time, trying to find us a closer alternative or transportation since AAA would not allow us to ride with their tow truck driver. When all other options had been exhausted, she arranged for a tow truck that would allow us to ride along on the 182 mile trip to Salina. Once we arrived, the mechanic got started right away and even volunteered to work on his day off in order to get us home more quickly. Savannah also helped us find (and drove us to) a hotel, staying in contact with us over the days we were there to make sure we were taken care of. There are not enough words to describe how appreciative we are of everything they did for us.Service: Transmission
