Harris Auto stands by their work, they offer competitive prices, they work quick, and they are honest. I used to get work done at Honda but I am glad I switched over to Harris Auto. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Extremely communicative, great customer service, and great people.

Not sure what these guys do all day. My car sat in their shop for 3 weeks with a starter problem. Said they couldn t trigger the problem again so I could come pick it up whenever. Suddenly, my engine isn t running right and it s a $1,300 repair. Also $400 for a battery replacement a few months back. Don t get scammed

For 20 years I'd been spoiled by having a family member who owned their own auto repair shop. Now, all I have is the Harris' and I'm still getting what seems like privileged treatment. With the exception of an occasional oil change or brake job (because I had coupons), Harris has been my only shop for many years.

Worst customer service ever! We have used this business for several years. However, I called today and was treated very poorly by the person that answered the phone. She advised me to fix my car myself because I asked for pricing on replacing my engine. I was very taken back by the way I was treated by a company we have spent several thousands of dollars with over the years. We really enjoyed doing business with them but will find someone who appreciates doing business with us.Services: Exhaust, Engine repair

Harris auto is like my second Dad.There s been so many times that I could have been stuck with no running vehicle and Harris hasn t let that happen to me at all!I ve brought my vehicles here for AC/Heating replacements/repairs, I hit a mean pothole and broke my rim, tire and control arm. This was damage to my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix and Harris was able to find me a matching Pontiac rim original to the car, they ve repaired my brakes, power steering pump, oil pan gasket, transmission fluid pan thing, sensors, coolant reservoir, replaced radiator, repaired broken gasoline line and many more things. Harris auto has treated me like family and still go above and beyond to help me out even though they don t have to! Ms. Robin is the woman at the front desk and she may not work on the cars, but once you tell her what s going on, she pretty much knows what needs to be done and tells the boys! She s always a joy to be around and has definitely gone out of her way to help me out as well! I ve spent a lot of time hanging out in the waiting room talking to Mrs. Robin. her husband worked on cars for a long time, which explains why their boys are very well rounded in mechanics! They literally have knowledge of all parts of a vehicle and it s systems.Yes recently they ve been slammed and have had a giant workload but to me that just proves that people prefer Harris to do their repairs. If it s urgent, they get me going ASAP especially if I let them know what s up ahead of time. I told them I had to be in Topeka for work and they definitely got me done by then and on my way to work the next morning! They ve given me rides home on bitter cold or scorching hot days, and avoided riding the bus for hours! This family works hard and does a lot for the community. I appreciate everyone at Harris Auto. thanks for your hard work and dedication to the customers!Services: Electrical repair, Tires, Auto battery replacement, Steering & suspension repair, Auto exhaust system repair, General repairs & maintenance, Steering & suspension replacement, Auto A/C recharge, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning, Auto A/C replacement, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Auto tire replacement, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning, Wiper blade installation, Oil change

They work on some AC for us and it was great then stopped working a few days later. A woman denied that they missed the leaky valve and so we had to pay another place over 300 dollars to fix it, after Harris auto repair told us it would be under warranty and that they would make it right.... the actual car repair workers seem great but we felt screwed over in the end.

These guys are great, I have been doing business for 20 plus years with them. Fair prices for great quality work, I have sent several people to them for their auto repair needs, they continued to use them long after I lost touch with those individuals. This is a small family owned business they are honest, trustworthy, and always put the customer first. Please Support your local family owned businesses. Harris put on 4 new tires, changed my oil, replaced my wiper blades, and corrected my alignment. Basically all the things I put on the back burner during COVID. When I called to schedule an appointment, they worked me in within 2 days. I m super happy with the service I received!Services: Tires, Wheel alignment, Oil changeServices: Tires, Wheel alignment, Oil change

Harris Auto is the only place I'll take my car in Lawrence. Tom, the mechanic I spoke with, said it best - car shops nowadays employ mostly technicians that just want to replace stuff. Harris Auto have mechanics that fix things. I was quoted over $1200 for a disc break replacement by another shop because they said my break were beyond repair. Harris said that was not true, resurfaced the breaks and did the repair for less than $350. On top of that, they had the savvy and expertise to diagnose and fix another two issues that I was unaware of and all together it was still well under the cost of the break job from the other company. There are a lot of shops that will take advantage of you because they know what you don't and they know you're stuck - Harris is not one of those and I trust them to do right by me and my family.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Wouldn t take these people a bicycle. Couldn t even put the wrong spark plugs on and his 300ilb mother loves to take out her anger on customers.Intake manifold and a bunch of gaskets replaced at 7k dollars. Get it back to a awful sound. They refuse to fix it even though it didn t show up until after they got it and charged me to tell me what they did to my car. Broke scam artists I trusted them with my BMW don t do the same!!Service: Engine repair

I've been going to Harris Auto for years and have always been happy with the service, but my recent visit was incredibly disappointing. Neither the individual working the front desk (who was coughing) nor the person driving my car wore masks. Both myself and another customer in the waiting room wore our masks to protect them, however the courtesy was never returned and I was there for 2 hours. I don't understand why they would choose to put the lives in our community at risk when it could be avoided with such a small, simple gesture.Service: Brakes

Harris did contact me with any kinds of questions they had based on the work request for them to fix and replace o2 sensors on my vehicle. not give me a quote on work before starting work. Then use over priced part that are at least 2 times over the highest price replace part I could find at O'Reilly. Did not stand by their work or satification at all Wish I could give them a negative star.

Excellent service. Got a second opinion on brakes & they found an issue the other company had missed. New brake pads, rotors, oil change, alternator belt and the total was cheaper than what the other company tried to charge me for rotors alone. On top of this, the customer service is phenomenal- even offered me a ride home while my car was being repaired. I feel great about this company and recommend them to everyone looking for good service at a fair price. Very happy to have found Harris Auto

If I could give negative stars, I sure would! My boyfriend has gone here a few times and hasn't had any problems until this week. He called last week to order a power steering pump for his car and let him know what the make, model, and year his car was. His appointment to get it fixed was on Mon. 6-10 at 11:30. They said it'd only take an hour. Perfect. Come 3:00 we still hadn't heard from them so he called. The part was just delivered (even though he ordered it a week ago!) and they'd need another hour. Fine. Come 4:45 still no call from them so he calls for them to say they got backed up and will need it overnight but will get to it first thing in the morning, but it shouldn't be over an hour. He calls the next morning at 9:30 to see if it's ready and sure enough it's not. We drop in at 11:30 for them to say the wrong part was ordered and it won't be ready until later that afternoon. His car was finally done 47 hours later on Wednesday 6-12 at 10:30 in the morning. They didn't call him to touch base once, they didn't call to say the wrong part was ordered, nor did they call to say that it was going to take a lot longer than expected. They didn't care how much of an inconvenience it was for him being without a vehicle for that long. I try to support small local businesses as much as possible, but definitely not this one!

Good, honest Auto service. My go to for anything needed for my vehicles. I am always looking for the best prices for anything; Harris will always beat the dealerships, but I don't shop around for Auto service any more. If these guys aren't the cheapest, I don't care. They're close enough, and it's worth an extra dollar or two to feel completely confident that the work is done right.

Would honestly give 0 stars if I could. I called in advance and even told them what was wrong with my car already, they told me it would be the next day or 2, which was fine by me (it's a 2 or 3 hour job that I didn't have time for at the moment). Then after two days they proceed to call me and tell me exactly what I told them 2 days prior, and they hadn't even started on it yet. I had my car towed back to my house and fixed it myself in half the time and half the price.

I had a break in my oil baffle, which is a metal piece on the valve cover. I knew exactly what the issue was, but I didn't want to replace the part and seal it myself. So I took it to Harris Auto. They tried to charge me $483 for a new valve cover only, not including the maintenance. I found the part online for $55. When I told them about this, they agreed to let me buy the part and then they would put it on. I brought it to them on the day we agreed upon, and the lady at the front desk told me it would be at least 2 hours of work (I could have done it myself in 20 minutes). I asked to speak with the guy who was actually putting it on and he admitted it was going to take 30 minutes at most. Then they charged me $151 for these 30 minutes of labor. I would highly recommend taking your car anywhere else.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I highly recommend Tom and his very professional team. They worked on my 914 Porsche (1973). Running into issues with the fuel pump, they stuck with it like bull dogs. This crew is very patient and strive to do right no matter the issues. Will certainly use them again, despite they are 45 min from where I live.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine tuning, BrakesServices: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Auto engine tuning, Brakes

Truck repairBest repair shop in Lawrence in my eyes. The own messages you to see if everything is going well the day after or next to make sure everything is going ok. This alone is worth the service but to add to this the price for service beats anyone in town. Every time I call they are eager to help and get you in ASAP. And have the vehicle ready in a timely manner. They don t try to sell you anything you didn t ask them to inspect!!! That s worth a million stars!!!

Our car broke down suddenly and unexpectedly Monday after noon, our tow truck driver suggested Harris auto to us and we went with the suggestion, we were not displeased. They had us back up and running in less than two days without an appointment. Thank You and God Bless Tom and his crew at Harris Auto courteous, polite, and professional.Service: Engine repair

My car was having issues with overheating so I took it in for a diagnostic that cost me $40. When they looked at it they told me that it was the water pump that was bad and they were going to charge me $800 for the water pump which isnt even $100 part.I took my car to a friend and we did the maintenance ourselves for about $400 altogether and then not even a month later I had The exact same issue start happening again and come to find out it wasn t even the water pump it was a few other things diagnosed by a different auto repair shop.I think this place is overpriced and doesn t do good thorough work. if I would ve paid $800 to replace this part then my problem still wouldn t never even been fixed.Service: Engine repair

They are always very friendly and quick. I take my work vehicle to them always. I have never yet taken my personal vehicle there, but they i called them about servicing it they told me it didn't need the items I was interested in doing at that time done at the current mileage, so I feel that they are probably not trying to simply rip people off.I will say that they seem somewhat expensive, but not compared to a dealer.Anyways, i have recommended them a few times to other ppl. Check them out!

I am very pleased with the recent brake and rotator job done on my car. The ASE mechanics were very helpful, professional, and friendly. They offered some good suggestions. The friendly shop dog also made for a fun visit to their business. It was nice to get a ride to my work after dropping of my car for service. =)Trust your brake service to Harris Auto Repair where they won't try to sell you more than you actually need.

Don't go to for electrical issues.Took my car to Harris after my gauges began going out under electrical load (headlights/AC on). Was told my battery was stripped and no good (it was 4 days old!) and it was replaced without contacting me first, even though I'd asked to be notified of anything past the diagnostic. Nevertheless, I was told my problem was fixed and I could pick up my car. What was supposed to be a diagnostic ended up being parts and labor for a new battery, but whatever it's fixed right? Within 2 minutes of being in my car I had the same issues. My apparently "stripped" battery was actually running the car better before they replaced it. Obviously was not tested. Took back in a few days later to be told my negative battery cable wasn't rated correctly for the battery (it was) and it'd be $140 to replace it. I said no and I wanted some kind of refund for the couple hundred bucks I paid previously for no result. They denied me saying all the only way they could do that would be to undo the work they did, except they didn't have the core battery anymore so it wouldn't be possible.Couple weeks later I took my car elsewhere for a diagnostic. New place very quickly found that the cable just had a bad ground. Cleaned it up for $30 and my car has been fine ever since. Obviously Harris never bothered to test anything before they went to work replacing parts without even notifying me, against my wishes.Truly terrible service. Were outright wrong every step of the way. Do some easy tests before you start charging customers for guesswork.

Harris Auto always does a fantastic job. I've been there for a couple reasons over the past few years (wheel replacements, fluid changes, inspections, etc.), and they've never let me down or tried to gyp me. They never push for extra work or try to upsell any products, but always make recommendations if necessary. Everyone their is friendly, hardworking, and easygoing. Harris is always my go-to.

The quality of the work is good but I can't recommend this place. They gave us an estimate and went *way* over that estimate without notifying us. Our final bill was so high we weren't prepared for it and are still paying it off about a year later. If we'd known the repair was going to be over $3,000 we would have given up on the car and replaced it. I resent that decision being taken out of our hands.

2nd visit to this shop, I referred a friend here as well before and he was happy. My old 95' Eagle Talon wasn't running right after letting a friend drive it - I thought it may have been a very serious issue. They diagnosed it and turns out it wasn't so bad. Two ignition coils were cracked and shorting to the engine and the valve cover gasket was leaking oil into the spark plug wells and that was causing problems. Also got a tire repaired that had a nail in it and my friend put a temporary plug in it - another place wouldn't do it. They fixed that as well, only costing 28.85.
