I was in the market for a cash car and was very nervous about the condition of a used vehicle that's 14 years old. I came across a Facebook post where someone was looking for the best mechanic in Lawrence and Frank E Smiles was highly recommended from several people. Man, Frank did not disappoint. He did a thorough diagnostic for me, was very honest, and put recommended updates in order of importance. That is exactly what I needed. I will recommend him to everyone I know! I bought a used vehicle and wasn't sure about the brakes and over all condition of the vehicle. Frank got me in right away and addressed my concerns. Frank has restored my faith in humanity. He's honest, fair and I'll be taking my vehicle back for maintenance and any additional issues that may arise. As a single female, so often we are taken advantage of. I am so grateful to have found Frank E Smiles . Thank you Frank!

Frank is awesome! He got me in the same day to take a look at my car when everyone else was booked which I really appreciated.Due to the cold weather it didn t actually need any work on it, but he was very knowledgable and honest when explaining everything to me. I will definitely be back if my car has any other troubles! Thank you Frank : )

Frank is a knowledgeable, dedicated and compassionate person. He inspected my car for free when I was in a tight spot financially. Not only that, he found out what was making my car shake on the highway and was able to fix it that day! I plan on bringing my car to him from now on.Also his dog and wife are great too!

Update years later: still 100% true.Frank is such a kind, flexible, and honest person to work with. Despite having a fair amount of car knowledge, I don't even like to walk into the auto parts store without my husband, due to how condescending most men are towards women about cars. Frank never makes you feel that way, speaks to you like a real human, and explain things just right. He'll break down for you what needs to be fixed now, what can wait a bit, and what isn't necessary. You'll never feel pressured into a purchase. My car started making a scary noise on a Thursday morning, I was able to stop by that evening to get a quick diagnosis and quote, get scheduled for Saturday, and was driving again Saturday evening. All for at least half the price of anywhere else in town. I tell everyone I know about how great the service is. Give Frank a shot, you won't regret it!

Our daughter goes to KU and her car stopped running and she had to leave it on the side of the road. Since we were in Kansas City, my husband looked for a place in Lawrence and called Frank. He was so accommodating and went above and beyond to help us. His prices were fair and the customer service was excellent.

Had the great pleasure of meeting Frank after he fixed my daughter s car.As a dad in Wichita with my daughter in Lawrence, I was worried about finding an honest and reliable shop So glad I found Frank! He really went the extra mile to diagnose the right repair. Both price and quality were excellent. Wish I could take my Wichita cars to him! I can't say enough good words about Frank! He is kind and honest, and took extra time and energy to explain what was going on with my car in a way that I could easily understand. And, as an added bonus, not only is his work high-quality, he makes every effort to make it affordable, too. 100% would recommend.

Frank E Smiles is the bomb.com. If you want the most friendly, selfless mechanic to work on your car go here! He first jumped my Tacoma after diagnosing a battery issue (drove out to my house!), stating he d not charge me unless his hunch turned out true. He later replaced my radiator for maybe half of what a dealer would charge, amazing! Since recommending friends, they ve told me he s offered free advice, even fixed simple things for no charge! Don t get charged a $100 useless fee elsewhere, go to Frank E Smiles! Dude is SO NICE!!!

I have lived in lawrence around for around 3 years now and Frank is the only guy I'd go to for vehicle issues. Not only is he a very nice man, but you can tell he knows what he's doing. I havent had any issues after Frank worked on my car. He also doesn't charge ridiculous fees or gives false diagnosis like you'd get at some mainstream repair shops. It's great work for a great price and there is no one else I would recommend to someone who needs a fix!

I am a woman married to a woman, and he has never once made me feel uncomfortable or disrespected. I spent 3 hours at his shop waiting on a repair, and I felt welcome and comfortable doing so. He also kept me in the loop and explained everything to me without an ounce of condescension. He is an extremely kind and hard-working person who has not only saved us hundreds of dollars that we do not have, but also saved us the inconvenience and time of having to wait days for other shops to look at our car.Frank is now my go-to mechanic, and I really value his integrity and willingness to answer my questions. I appreciate his willingness to work with our schedules and fit us in as soon as possible. He's also just a great person to chat with who doesn't judge or speak ill of others.

He is amazing! And one of the nicest people i know! He does very well with his work and he doesnt try to take all your money, he completes work fast and doesn't give you a run around hes very honest and he has a puppy! I just want to thank most sincerely Frank and his lovely family. They were amazing. Awesome deal. Fabulous service. And the customer support and comraderie was fantastic. It is not easy for me to feel comfortable around people at times with some things we have gone through. But they were very supportive of both myself and my pooch. Especially in our specific situation. Just real down to earth good folks trying to do good and help.

Frank does quick quality work. He doesnt try to upsell you on repairs you may not need RIGHT now but does recommend the repairs you should get either now or in the near future so you can make an informed decision. He worked on my kid's car and since I live in a different city, he sent me a video of the issues that needed fixed now vs. later.His pricing is also very reasonable.Overall, its exactly what you would expect from a retired career Navy Vet- fair, upfront, and no BS.(PS- i spent 29 years in the Army so its hard for me to give the Navy props- but in Frank' case, I have to...lol)

Frank is an awsome guy really knowledgeable. I know nothing about cars his was willing to explain all the necessary things i needed. I have a VW Touareg he got the parts i needed and did my oil change without breaking the bank. I will be going back for more work guaranteed.

After struggling for a year to find a good mechanic after moving to Kansas from Ohio, I m so glad I found this place . I have nothing but good things to say . Not only does he do quality work but his prices are very affordable compared to other places I found . Me and my boyfriend will be taking our cars here to get work done from now on
