This is definitely a great local spot to eat at! The food is definitely high-quality, & I really enjoyed my hot tenderloin! The gravy was homemade, tenderloin hand breaded & potatoes were real! The inside is very nice, with tv's all over to watch a game & with the old pictures of Highland on the walls! The staff was very friendly, & gave us plenty of time to order! This isn't your typical local spot! The food is a definite step above your local diner food! A+Kid-friendliness: Definitely.

Stopped for a late lunch with a large group and they took care of us without any problems. Food all came out fast and tasted great! I got the Kirkwood sandwich (brisket and pulled pork) and it was excellent. Tender and flavorful. This place is new but it should last a long time with good food like this!

We stopped by here on our way back from Marysville to Saint Joe. Our experience was definitely great. We ordered the tenderloin with waffle fries and he ordered a French dip. The meat on the French dip was incredibly tender and the hoagie was soft and delicious. The waffle fries at just the right amount of seasoning. We also ordered some flour chips that came crispy and wonderful with a very mild salsa. At only a 30 minute drive from our home, we WILL be back!!! They also use the pay by app option. Nice!

We used to love coming here weekly, and recommended it to all our family and friends. Lately we have had lots of problems, and tonight was the worst! I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita drink as I order every time. Some have been the best, but this one was so bad I had the waitress take it back for another. My husband tasted it and said something was wrong with it. The bartender comes and says in a cocky manner, "Everyone loves my margaritas! I tasted yours and it taste great!"...so I just had it taken off our tab! She never even offered to re-make it! Then when we got our meal, my husband's green beans were so spicy hot he couldn't eat them! We didn't dare ask for an exchange in green beans!He asked for lots and lots of butter and it took 3 times to get the amount he wanted for the huge baked potato, and the outer skin was burnt in places! The waitress was very slow to come and check on us and we had to get her attention several times and then wait.Their food of late hasn't been great.Horrible experience tonight as shown in the rating of the stars! Salads have had big chunks of lettuce near the core and inedible, so we quit ordering them! The breaded tenderloins come with the outside breading off or it comes off when you try to eat it. Quit ordering them. Other food is unreliable as to what you will get. We are so sad as it really was good food at one point; too bad! The only good thing I can say it always smells clean. It is often very loud so we try to sit in opposite side of the loudness if we can. Doubt we will be back. The rudeness of the bartender, slowness of the waitress, unreliable condition of food you will get all play a large part of us not coming back.Parking: Sometimes it's full on both sides of the street and in their small parking area. Sometimes there is lots of area to park in the street.

We ve eaten here about half a dozen times when we come up to visit my daughter at HCC. It s a great place and the town is lucky to have it. Everything is reasonably priced and tastes great. This time I had a chicken salad. It was large, filling and delicious. If we ever come back to Highland, we ll eat here again!

First visit. Got treated to dinner after a long day of genealogy hunting in the area! Really good food. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken w/green beans & coleslaw. The green beans were made with bacon The coleslaw was a little sweet. and the chicken was crispy and moist. The gravy just added to all of it. Served hot and just the right amount of food. I found my meal Delicious. If you're in the area, stop in and try them out. Ps. The chicken serving is a bit larger. It looked so good I started eating, before I realized I need to take a pic.

Went to the flea market near here. Looked on GPS for restaurants nearby and stopped in.The restaurant is really nice, clean, and ample seating inside and out.The loaded waffle fries with the brisket.. still drooling thinking about them. They are an absolute must!The Kirkwood sandwich was on point! Soo good.I was too busy eating to take pictures sorry..All said the beer is ice cold and the food is outstanding; this place is a Must stop if you are ever close by!

Heck of a little pub/bar in the middle of nowhere! Great creative drink and food menu, the bar itself is new and modern with nice furnishings! Would recommend it to anyone in the area or travleing on 36 highway in North eastern kansas!

Ordered hot roast beef and mashed potatoes with side of steamed veggies. The main entree was not very hot but didn t want to send back since we were so hungry. The veggies were very blah. I think they came from a bag of frozen veggies and were nuked with no seasoning whatsoever. Service was fine. Nice and clean. My sis ordered same entree but with a side salad. Server didn t mention extra charge for salad as a side. And the salad was just a little bit of lettuce for the most part and almost frozen. I spouse of I visited here again I would try the burger and fries to see how they do with that but I do believe they are overpriced.

Nicely meal good service would have given more stars only grandma, mum and kids put on a table behind us when plenty of open tables.Parking: Could do with more disabled parking spots near the door.

Food and the place are good, it's some of the staff that is the problem and why I am giving one star. I have never in my life been treated so disrespectfully by someone who works in customer service. Katie Joe the snotty rude bartender ignored me the whole time I tried to get service. I noticed she done this with just about every female that came up to the bar to get service. No problem for the men, she helped them right out. This was not my first time in here, never had a problem before until this bar tender was working. Never thought I would write a bad review about a good small town restaurant, but this done it. I was not the only person she was extremely rude to either. Still can't believe the rudeness and disrespect. Need better customer service skills or a new job.

Not sure if cooks have changed or what, but our food tonight was so bad! The loaded chicken sandwiches were beyond dry, to the point that the edges were hard and jerky like. The tenderloin sandwich was beyond dry and over cooked also and they didn't even give any garnishments to put on it. The chicken club salad was just iceberg lettuce even though the menu says mixed greens. None of us ate even half of our meals. Super disappointed in our meals tonight!

Absolutely delicious meal and perfect service. Our Corvette group ended its fall ride here and the restaurant was ready for us with extra staff, and smiling, excellent servers. We had a limited menu, which was fine due to 38 corvettes with mostly two people apiece. The bourbon glazed salmon was outstanding, as was the Kirkwood sandwich and even the cheeseburger was yummy. Have the bread pudding for dessert. We will be back. It s the best kept secret in eastern Kansas!

We were there Monday with family had a wonderful experience. The food was out of this world . Our waitress was perfect I wish I would have gotten her name. We were a party of 6, and we sat at the south west corner. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Neat little restaurant in a nice town off of the main road. Everyone working was friendly, and attentive. It was a Sunday so opted for the fried chicken dinner. I had a bad feeling when dinner came out in about 2 minutes. While the mashed potatoes and corn were hot, the chicken was not, and obviously had been cooked earlier. The breast was dried out and too tough to eat, but the other three pieces were ok. I would be willing to try it again, but will be passing on the fried chicken.

Had the Pound cheeseburger with added bacon, waffle fries, cheese curd appetizer, and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. Really great food. The cheese curds were spicy. Burger was a little burned to my liking but really great. I love how customizable their food is. You want bacon on a pound of hamburger? Great. A cup to dip your waffle fries? Absolutely. (I may have to order a second strawberry shortcake. Surprisingly small!)The place looks great. Parking is good. A lot more televisions than I thought would be. My only criticism is I think the restroom is a little too small, but they do have heavy duty lava soap which I ve never seen before!

We ate at Kirkwood & Company with another couple last evening. Mikayla was our server, and she did a great job, in spite of carrying a glass of boiling water for my hot tea! Our dinner was really good, as usual, and in spite of an exciting football game going on, it was not too loud and rowdy! See you next week!

I tried the kirkwood sandwich and fries it was wonderful , by far the best BBQ sandwich I've had since I moved up here two years ago to Hiawatha . I saw lots of favorite items on the menu so I will be back to try , oh yeah the Bloody Mary was great and went well with my meal and the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and plesent with a great smile , I'll be back soon , Chuck

Salad is not worth what I paid for it. They gave me grilled chicken when I ordered crispy then they just gave me the crispy chicken and I had to pull off the grilled chicken and put the crispy chicken on my self instead of them just making me a whole new salad and taking back the one they screwed up. They also gave me the wrong chips I wanted the corn and they gave me the other kind they have. This was a carry out order. I don't recommend them and I will not go there again.

We went to eat there tonight and very disappointed. Our orders were not right. Our bread bun was almost molded, onions rings were overly cooked and dry, pulled pork was dry same as the brisket. Totally tasteless! We will not going back again. 8/27/21
