My husband is a truck driver, and we ve been traveling a lot this summer; going from one RV park to another. With those types of places. You never really know what you re getting into, in terms of loud neighbors and all night parties and we ve definitely encountered our share of disrespectful behavior. We happened upon Lakeshore resort on our journey from Southern Minnesota to Iowa, and we could not have been happier with what we discovered there Beautiful park, very clean, and very tranquil. They are particular as to whom they take in, so consequently it felt very safe and peaceful. The owners take great pride in their property, it was very well kept and honestly we didn t want to leave!!We would highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a family friendly environment to get away and relax. It sits right on the lake so the scene is quite lovely. Lots of kid friendly activities as well as a pickle ball court and frisbee golf for the adults.Wonderful experience. We will definitely be back.-Two happy Campers

Landed at this site through Passport America and were so amazed and pleased at what we found. The campground was so trimmed, orderly, friendly, and relaxing that we extended our stay 2 more days to rejuvenate for the next drive. Sites have lots of space. Laundry is convenient. Family is appreciated. Would gladly return.

So disappointed. When making reservations, I mentioned coming to Oelwein solely to meet up with my cousin who lives there plus a cousin in Mason City. I was not informed of any restrictions on visitors. Upon arrival, when I informed the manager that I expected five cousins/spouses, he said only four visitors were allowed. No exceptions. Obviously, he does not care about his guests. We had to disconnect the utilities and drive to the city park so we could enjoy this tiny reunion/picnic, which this park would not allow. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Plus, the bath house was closed. On our 30-day trip, this place was our WORST experience!

I'm not sure where these 5 star reviews are coming from . It's not the experience I had or anyone I've spoken to that has been there recently . The park is beautiful ..... the owners are just very unkind and controlling . There are locked gates at the front and barbed wire fences( maybe electric I'm not sure ) so you can never have anyone just check out the campground . It's a place to sit and read a book but not to socialize . The wording in the other reviews don't ring true for real review writers . it used to be a flourishing campground but now there are many empty lots ... google the other 1 star reviews they are more accurate from what we and others have experienced . We are not party people at all but we do enjoy sitting around a fire to talk .

We just loved this place. Very beautiful. The grounds were very clean and kept. You can tell the owners, Craig and Joyce take pride in their property. They had several games and activities to enjoy. We played pickelball and carpetball. We had smores by the campfire at night. Loved spending time with my family. We will return again. Thank you Craig and Joyce for making our stay enjoyable.

This is absolutely the best campground I have ever been to. Everyone is so friendly. The owners Joyce and Craig take great care of everyone and work hard to keep this a family friendly campground. My grandkids came with us for a day and played mini golf, carpet ball, tetherball, gaga ball and lots of other games. This weekend my husband and I are child free and is a pleasure to listen to children playing, reading a book, enjoying the view of the water, etc. This place brings me peace and happiness.

I live in Pueblo West Colorado, and had the pleasure of enjoying this beautiful RV park while visiting my sister and brother-in-law in their 5th wheel RV camper. The park is beautiful, well maintained, and the amenities were more than satisfying. The owners Joyce and Craig go out of their way to ensure their RV guests are happy and enjoy a wonderful experience while visiting their RV Park. Would be happy to recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful, quiet RV park.

This campground did not pass the vibe check. This campground had a lot of rules. Visitor hours are 11a-9p. You re only allowed two couples and their dependent children at a time. My sister came to visit and had to pay 5 dollars to get in. The owner makes every guest register before being allowed to the campsite. After working for 10 hours and driving two and a half, the last thing I wanted to do was spend another 15 minutes signing bs paperwork. This campground has a stiff air about it. Definitely feels like people are watching you to ensure you re minding your p s and q s.Even though this is a well kept campground, I wouldn t recommend staying here, unless you re retired or you re traveling for work. We won t be recommending this site to anyone and we won t be staying again.

We stayed at this charming and quiet resort for a month. We really enjoyed the nice little beach area and floating daily in beautiful little lake. They keep the grounds pristine and offer kayaks, put put golf, pickle ball and so much more. The owners are welcoming and friendly. There are beautiful scenic drives through the country and small surrounding Amish towns. Stay, relax and enjoy!

This was 100% the nicest campground I have ever been to. The owners Joyce and Craig were very helpful and welcoming, making us feel at home. The grounds were extremely well maintained and free of trash and clutter. It was very obvious they take pride in what the have to offer and they absolutely should. It was a beautiful place to stay and I will be staying there when I am in the area again.

I worked in town a few weeks. I saw great effort they put into creating a peaceful, pleasant and safe environment for families and especially children to enjoy. Verynice location. Unfortanately a road far in backround had noise from loud exhaust vehicles. But was far enough in backround and only occasional to really not ruin the atmosphere. Wish i had set up fly bait traps and mosquito bait trap containers by camper. Those really help especially by a bih lake as they had. Home made icecream, tractor train cart rides for kids, kayaks, playgroinds, minature golf and more and more. So thankful they made extra effort to help me with a few amazon work cloth items i had delivered but left before thier arrival. Would love to visit again. Hearts on sleeves and big effort to ensure families have resources and safe area to keep kids busy and relax.Nearby activities: Movie theater, parks

We resided at Lakeshore for 4 months last summer and had an amazing experience. I cannot say enough positive things about Joyce, Craig and the pleasant home they have created at the RV park.Everything is immaculately maintained. The owners are always available and friendly. Most importantly, we felt very safe and comfortable there with our 7 year old son. The mini golf course, the lake, all of the games and sports that Joyce and Craig offer couldn't have been more perfect for our family.Weekends were a joy when everyone would come out, but the weekdays of peace and quiet were also enjoyable. Are there rules? Yes. Do they enforce them? Yes. But it is all in the name of keeping a clean, quiet, family-first atmosphere. We highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a peaceful camping experience. And we hope to return one day soon.

This is such a quiet beautiful campground. Craig and Joyce are very kind and go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. We visited during Oelwein Days and could see the fireworks from our campsite which were spectacular.Craig does a devotional on Sunday mornings which we really appreciated. We would recommend this campground for rest and relaxation especially after a hectic week.We will definitely be back!

We have traveled all over the country and this is absolutely the most well kept and run of all our experiences.Craig and Joyce run a tight ship and maintain the extremely spacious yards as if it were a golf course. If you like the quiet and beauty with plenty of space this is definitely the place to stay. We read some of the reviews from disgruntled guests but came to see for ourselves. We enjoyed this summer so much that we are coming back in 2022 for the whole season. Craig and Joyce have turned out to be very extraordinarily hard working and concerned with keeping their guests experience a safe and quiet one.

We booked thinking this would be a fun spot for the kids and that was proved wrong real quick. The campground appears nice and well kept but that s easy to do when no one is outside of their campers. They even yelled at one of our kids for walking in the grass and not the road. Beach is well kept but small and does have some leaches. The hours for goofy golf are short and no one under 6 is allowed to play. We were on egg shells are whole trip trying to avoid the camp hosts. Will not be back.

Campground was great! The hosts are very friendly and the place is clean and very well maintained. The mini golf was fun as well and there is a great book selection where you can swap out the books you ve already read. We will return for sure!

It's obvious that Craig and Joyce take pride in their property/business; it's very clean, well-kept, and have provided so many activities for families and single campers. They also very kindly helped out when we had a small fire in the camper and unfortunately had to leave. The rules of the campground consist of the basics that every other place has. However, they are serious about the rules on the contract that is signed. I definitely believe that is why this place felt safe and peaceful, and why I would definitely stay there again.

Great location and close to everything you need.Nearby activities: local small town with activities and storesSafety: you feel safeWalkability: Stroll by river/lake, swim, boating, etc

We love Lakeshore! Great, safe and chill campground that is immaculately kept up. Joyce and Craig are helpful and hardworking and we appreciate their hospitality. Lots to do for families and kiddos. The rules summed up are basically to have respect for the campground and your neighbors and we are totally on board with that. A short trip to get Amish donuts on Friday or Saturday mornings is a bonus and a must :) Would definitely recommend!

$20 charge for showing up before 3. LOTS and LOTS of rules. Because we came as a group of three, we were not allowed any visitors. It's very clean well kept but pretty much a retirement home, not a "resort" as advertised. If you enjoy sitting in your camper and making no noise, this is the campground for you! They come off as very anti kids. Felt like we were being talked down to at their long drug out check in process. We will never be back as we enjoy sitting around the fire, listening to music and enjoying the company of our friends.

Stopped at this park for 3 nights on our way through Iowa before heading down into MO. Decided to spend 3 nights since we knew Amish country was close by. Two nights would have been adequate. On the plus side, this is a beautifully maintained park and provides a park-like setting for staying. It is quiet, purposefully, which is perfectly fine with us. We had adequate AT&T service for our Pep-wave and data plan so we had our own wifi for streaming and everything else. The weather was unseasonable delightful - temps in low 80s. Bathhouse was clean with good water pressure (water pressure at our site was quite low).Beware that some back-in sites have power hookups in the very back of the site. This might have been a problem for us since our electric cord is attached at the front of our 41 ft 5th wheel and we have a 50 ft cord. The host moved us to a back in site with the utility pole more in the middle of the site, so we had no problem. This park has gotten dinged on reviews from people who do not want to follow the rules - the biggest of which surround extra guests and partiers. Read the rules and if you can live with them (or even agree with them) then book. You will not be disappointed. If you plan on having lots of people, or playing music and expecting others to have to listen to your choices, you will be disappointed. We found the owner/host to be cordial and helpful.Roads in: we came in I90 heading east most of the way. I90 is a bit rough! Farm roads that brought us the last miles were fine.Would we stay again? If in the area, absolutely, but we would not go out of our way. Note this park is open May 1 - Oct 15. It gets very cold in this area in the winter time.Things to do in the area: Amish area can be driven through in an hour or so. There are a few restaurants in Oelwein. We got reacquainted with DQ blizzards while here - not a great thing, but definitely a very good thing!

Beautiful, clean, excellently maintained park. It was great staying at a park that holds the standards we prefer when traveling. Joyce and Craig were friendly, available and more than helpful when we had questions about the area. The lake is beautiful. Access to the wonderful city park provided a great additional area to explore and take great walks. We loved the close availability to hometown grocery and hardware stores with great customer-focused folks who worked there. This is the type of park that we always prefer and will be returning. Thank you for providing a quiet, clean park for your customers. Loved the miniature golf course, too!

This RV Park is so clean. Joyce met us at the Gate and escorted us to our RV site. Everyone was so friendly and nice. They even had a magic show which really cater to the kids and it was off the charts. I loved watching the kids go up and be volunteers for the magician. Very relaxing and quiet place, we stayed two days and will definitely be going back.Thank you so much Joyce for making us feel at home. Will see you again soon. Steve and Connie

We visited here over Labor Day weekend in our 30 ft class A RV. We would love to come again. Very kid friendly, the park/beach area is great for kids to play and run around. Their Gaga ball pit is covered so you aren t getting blasted by the sun. CLEAN and well cared for sites. We loved how there was space between each site. We had a great experience here and would recommend to anyone.

When my family purchased a camper earlier this year we bought it knowing we wanted to have it somewhere for the season. Our problem was, we didn t know where. After talking to some friends I even became a little spooked as I learned that many campgrounds are not even remotely family friendly. After searching around I found Lakeshore RV Park in Oelwein, and my goodness are we thankful that we did. Everyone there is super nice and respectful. It is quiet and peaceful and more than that it is children friendly! This is extremely intentional, as the Owners, Joyce and Craig, bend over backwards to create a camping culture of mutual respect between ownership and campers. They are very upfront about their expectations and they hold people to them. In doing so, they have cultivated something unique and special. There were several times I needed help or had questions about my camper, being that we were total newbies, and Craig could not have gone out of his way any more to help me. Truly a great guy. We also enjoyed many conversations with Joyce, who quickly (Craig too) became someone we count as a friend. Lakeshore is a place we hope to call second home for MANY years to come!
