Holmes transmission was recommended to me by a co-worker while having trouble finding a reliable,honest mechanic for my vehicle.It didn t take long to realize that Mike is very knowledgeable, as well as his mechanics.They are honest, don t attempt to upsell unnecessary parts or labor, and fairly priced.I now take all my vehicles here. I would highly recommend.Thank you!

Awesome, honest, and a fair priced mechanic. Highly recommend for something as simple as an oil change and up to replacing a transmission. Their tire prices are best in town as well!

Always great to work with, met the hard way when I just moved to Monticello, and two days later my transmission went out. If feel if anyone needs repairs done to there car. They should take it to Holmes Transmission in Monticello. The people that work there are vary professional in what they do. Mike is a very honest man with what he does as business. I had told him to replace my breaks on the truck because of the brake light was on in the dash. He could have put new breaks on the truck and charge me for it but instead he tells me my breaks still had 60% left on them. They fixed the problem and everything that I wanted to have done in a timely manner. I give there shop a A+ rating I've been doing business with Holmes Transmission for more than 20 years now and never had a problem with there service which they didn't stand behind.

We were headed to Dubuque for a weekend vacation. We started having trouble with our van on the highway outside of Monticello. Found Holmes on Google and headed to the shop. When we got there, Mike was extremely accommodating. After pulling our vehicle into the shop and performing a diagnostic, a replacement part was en route from a local parts store. In less than 2 hrs the problem was discovered, replacement part installed, and crisis averted. We were soon back on the road to our weekend destination. Can't imagine things going any smoother. Highly recommend this shop.
