Some items are a little pricey but its nice to have in town so I don't have to drive to Coralville or CR for everything. And everyone is always super nice and helpful. U-haul rentals are chaotic but thats because you have to go throught u-haul and not swifts and u-haul is a joke of a company.

Love this store. I'm not so sure about the owners and the way they treat their employees. These people are outstanding, friendly and always willing to help. However, twice now, I've noticed an arrogant condescending way in which the managers/owners respond to their sales associates. It's an observation and uncomfortable. Managers, owners, whatever your position, it's hard to come by excellent employees and you are fortunate to have the people you do. Treat them kindly.

I'd honestly rather drive to coralville or cedar rapids. Cashier called me with a finger and never said a word other than the total. Pointed at the machine for my card and just ignored me when I told em to have a nice day.

Went into buy a coffee pot I asked the young man where they were located . he showed me where they were . I had a question or two and he answered them and I checked out he was nice and polite

I come into this shop all the time. I've never had a bad experience. Most of the time its is not crowded wall to wall with people all day. The store is keep clean Thats super nice to see! It is handicap accessible with handicap parking right next in front of the store entrance. If your in a wheelchair there is plent of space to get around the store. HOWEVER, this store doesn't di temperature checks masks are optional for both employees and its shoppers. They do have a divider at the check out line. I figured with things changing all the time Id add that in. You can get everything from bird feeders to horse leads, they have really good spray paint and regular house paint, interior or exterior. You can purchase plumbing materials to outside grills patio stones to vehicle supplies like oul and antifreeze. THEY ALSO MAKE KEYS HERE! INCLUDING CHIP KEYS . They are in a lot of its own right next to Big G grocery store. Happy shopping!

Very poor customer service in the paint department. Took paint bucket in for them to match a white shade for a ceiling. Was expecting something close to the white in the bucket. When we opened the paint at home it was gray and dried a gray, not even close to white. Called and person on phone said let it dry, We already had and it was still gray so they said bring it back. In the meantime we purchased matching paint elsewhere because this store had closed for the day. Returned Monday with the bucket they initially used to match and the paint pan showing how it dried gray. They refused to give our money back even though they admitted it had been mixed wrong. The only choice was to take two gallons of flat white (which we do not need), said that was all they could do. AWFUL experience - will never return to this store or recommend it to anyone. How was it in any way our fault they mixed it wrong? They needed to return our money and try to sell those gallons of gray to someone else. TERRIBLE customer service experience!!

For a small town, this kind of store is essential. They pretty much have everything (even lumber), which saves lots of time and miles driving to CR or Iowa City.

We live about 40 minutes from a big box DIY store, so we are lucky to have these guys 6 miles from us. They generally have what we need. Had the hardware we needed for our DIY project.

Very poor customer service. Matt, has no people skills nor can he maintain their rental equipment. Cannot problem solve without becoming extremely arrogant. Will pass on my families experience to everyone I possibly can. Will NEVER deal with such ignorance again.

Apparently the price on the shelf is only a suggestion to be debated. Couldn't purchase the item for the price advertised. Cashier claimed hadn't had time to change the price yet. First time shopping there will probably be the last.

The story is always clean and bright. The employees are always happy to help and very knowledgeable. It s awesome that they are open in Sunday too!!

Seeing the manager treat his employee like trash after not showing up on time to distribute generators left a bad taste in my mouth. I think I will just travel to Menards the next time I need a hardware store.

For a small town, Browns general has what I need. Patsy and the other employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. It is great to have a store like this in town.

Took my chain saw chains in to be sharpen the kid that works there ruined both chains had to wait 2.5 hours and had to argue with the owner's son to get them to replace the chains they ruined very dis appointed with the way they handled this . I will not return to this store.

This store is a joke and so is the owner, he is very rude and disrespectiful. Better off going to a real hardware store like lowes or home depot least there employees have respect for people.
