We purchased a car in 2018 and just recently in 2023 from Gary and both purchases have been smooth and easy! Gary was helpful from the process of test driving to taking care of anything that came up after the sale! They have competitive pricing on their vehicles but I believe you get unmatched customer service and that is really important to us!

Gary Bontrager is a WONDERFUL salesman. He s very upfront and honest, and didn t push the sale. I had called ahead to test drive an SUV after I had gotten off work, and to my surprise it was pulled up front and running so it was nice and warm for me when I arrived. Great experience from start to finish. Gary is all about the little details and going out of his way to ensure the customer is happy!

I bought my van from Kalona Auto a few years ago and I have never experienced a better car buying process anywhere else, they are the best in the area, by far. They are friendly, honest, and not pushy which is exactly what I want in a car salesperson.

I contacted the business by email and received a response quickly from Gary Bontrager, he was professional. We continued to exchange informative messages and phone calls. I agreed to make a deposit for purchase. Being from a distance away (1760 miles) I wanted an independent inspection. Gary was very agreeable to this. The inspection was informative and exposed some mechanical concerns (engine problems), Gary was very open about the problems and informed me they would make them right at their expense and I could either continue the purchase or I could back out of the agreement. He kept me informed on the timing and details of the services performed. He found a way to get the truck delivered at a reasonable expense. There have been a couple of issued developed after delivery and he offered to pay for parts purchased, he did not leave me hanging.I would recommend this business and this sales staff if you are looking for a vehicle. Professional, honest, and helpful staff.

We recently bought a vehicle from Kalona Auto . We had to travel quite a distance to see the vehicle we were looking for . Gary was great in communicating with us and meeting us at the dealership. We found everyone to be friendly and helpful. They stand by their service and warranty to make sure you are pleased with your purchase. They made this a positive experience for us and we would highly recommend them to others .

Initially, Gary held the vehicle for us for a week. Very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. We never felt pressured. All in all, it was a great buying experience, and we plan on shopping there in the future! We got a great van for a fantastic price. I would recommend to anyone in the market for a quality used vehicle listed at fair prices.

I'm very pleased with my experience at Kalona Auto. They happened to have the car I wanted and I requested to have it delivered cross-country. Gary contacted me and explained how this would work. My sister had shopped at their lot in the past and felt like it would be a good place to buy from. Gary showed me the vehicle over Facetime and arranged to have it delivered. The only delays were due to current delays at the post office! I had to trust Gary with the condition of the car (and the smell, which I was worried about). I received my car last week and am very pleased. It's in great condition and very clean. They made it easy (especially during the pandemic!) and were easy to work with. I would purchase from them again.

Gary was so awesome to work with. He actually met me half way with my new SUV because of my schedule not allowing me to go all the way there to pick it up. He was very easy to work with, staff was super friendly and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone wanting a trustworthy, small, family owned automobile company to buy from!

Gary made my first car buying experience a simple and stress-free one. He answered all of my questions, not only about the car I was buying, but also the car buying process in general. He gave us a good price on the car and made sure that I was comfortable with what I was purchasing. Even after I bought the car, he was very willing to answer follow-up questions and continue to help me. Kalona Auto is a great place to buy a used car!

Bought my Chrysler Town and country here 5 years ago. Haven't had any problems til just before my 5 year extended warranty was almost up, they helped me get the warranty I paid for and used it to replace the engine. Took a little time to get the work done, but they did give me a loaner car to use during that time. Great service!

Just purchased our third vehicle from Kalona Auto, and we re very happy again! They were very easy to deal with and treat you right. They made sure we were satisfied with everything and explained the purchase process very well. Definitely plan to buy from them again!

Gary and the guys at Kalona Auto were never pushy and so easy to work with making the process the best I ve ever had with a dealer. I fully recommend them to anyone looking for a vehicle for a more than fair price. I have found the best vehicle for myself and my family and it was short easy process.

Best dealership we have ever dealt with!! Gary was very friendly to sit and chat with. Gave us a better deal than we were originally going to try for. Very quick process and we were on the road headed home with our new truck. We will definetly be calling them up when we are ready for our next vehicle.

This place gave me a fair deal on a great car. I live a ways north of Cedar Rapids, so I almost didn't make the hour long drive out to Kalona, but I'm glad I did. This was my first solo car-buying experience, and they made the process painless. Definitely worth checking out, even if it's a bit of a drive!

Kalona auto is one of the best places I have ever done business period. They found the exact van I was looking for in a weeks time. The staff (Gary & Julie) were amazing to work with and make you feel just like family. They even helped with our kids ages 3 months and 6 while we test drove various cars and made the purchase. They may not have exactly what you want on the lot but give them a chance to earn your business and you won't be let down. Family business through and through and I'd like to think I'm part of that family now also. Great People and great prices.Thanks to everyone at Kalona Auto.

I was looking for my dream car, and Gary delivered. I actually went to the lot just to look at a car, this was after hours, and Gary was still there and offered to let me test drive the car. I knew I wanted the car, and Gary went above and beyond to help me achieve my goal. 10/10 experience, will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quality vehicle!

It has almost been two months since I purchased my SUV from Kalona Auto. Because I am in the military, I have to go on long distance road trips quiet a bit for work. I can honestly say Mr. Gary went above and beyond with ensuring that I was satisfied with my selection. I was never forced or pushed to spend more than I wanted to. I am in the HR profession and I can tell you that from my experience with Kalona Auto, the customer service is top notch! Also, my family and I love our SUV!

The folks at Kalona are very straight forward and easy to work with. I live 200 miles away so I needed to be at a deal before I would take the ride out, which Gary obliged. Made the trip out and was not disappointed. Give them a chance if they have something you like!

Absolutely outstanding experience! We drove over an hour with our three children to look at a car they had on their lot. Gary had worked with my husband the day before over the phone and had everything ready to go so that if we were ready to purchase the car, we would be able to walk out with it same day. We test drove the car, did all the paperwork, and purchased the car all under two hours! With our three kiddos with us! AMAZING! They also gave each kiddo a toy car, window scraper, and a hoodie when we left! I cant say enough great things about this place. My husband and I were very pleased and will be back when it's my turn.

Kalona is the only place that I have ever bought 2 cars from. I really like that they don't bully you into thinking that you have to buy the vehicle. They are funny and personable. I have bought 2 Nissans from them and plan to go back when I need my next one. It is a smaller dealership, but they always have nice looking vehicles on the lot, they are local and family owned and operated and that is a huge plus in today's market.

Went in June 2018 in need of a car and left satisfied with my purchase. My family has shopped through Kalona Auto the last few car purchases, there always seems to be a big selection, and the employees take their time to make sure the customer is leaving happy.
