***DO NOT BUY GLASS IF YOU NEED IT SHIPPED!!!***I bought 12 glasses and 6 were destroyed by the time it got to my house. This auction is either careless or they don't have the slightest clue how to ship glass. No, lie! They only used paper to wrap the glasses for SHIPPING with NO support on the bottom!!!! The only bubble wrap was at the top that did absolute NOTHING to help with shipping.These were 3 beautiful sets of glasses. That very much deserved to go to someone who would appreciate them. But notice that I used the word "were".... I'm probably going to trash them all now. Not one set survived their incompetence*** update ***I received my items on a Friday and the auction got back with me on Monday and refunded my money by sending pics. Granted, I truly appreciate the fast return of my money; the auction house however basically admitted that it happens more often than not. He made it seem as if its reoccurring thing.

I have ordered 3 times from thier weekly auctions. 2/3 times my things were stolen or lost before I arrived. I received a refund but was made to feel it was my fault for asking for one. The only reason they got 1 order right was because the item was too heavy to walk out with. They do not answer emailed questions, do not know what half the things they have are, and let children run around unattended to steal items. They are open 1 day out of the week and STILL couldn't handle the public. I work in this industry and know how it goes. But I am disappointed with this entire experience.

Putney Auctions are both fast paced and fun. They have an amazing crew that is happy to service huge to small estates.The dedication Putney has to its community is unmatched. Their secret to success is giving back and always being there when they're needed.

WRONG TITLE SENT OUTThey will send you a wrong title of the equipment bought and never address the issue by ignoring your emails and your callsStay away if you don t want to be stucked with equipment you won t register!Very painful experience !!!

Love this auction house. Weekly auctions on Saturday. Pick up is Sunday. Mark and crew run a top notch organization. Occasionally, they run multiple auctions in a day. Have patience with staff. They are normally dealing with thousands of lots every auction. Will continue to buy from.

Hi everyone, I am not a person to leave reviews unless I'm extremely pleased or upset about services. I brought some stuff to Putney's auction for my parents and I was told the commission was 30 percent. They sold a little over $2,800 worth of stuff and the check we received was a little over $1,700. When we received the check, the paper that stated what was sold. Come to find out they charged 40 percent for commission. And then charged a $250 dumpster fee and then a bunch of other fees that didn't make any sense. So upsetting to tell my parents they were ripped off. I will be taking my stuff and my parents stuff elsewhere and warning others of the unfairness. It's heartbreaking to see a business out there ripping off people, I'm not sure how you sleep at night. I hope this review helps prevent others from getting ripped off. So disappointing!

I have been a customer of Putney's for years. Whether you are a buyer looking to purchase something from an auction or a selling add items, they are fair, and do the best by their customers. The staff is friendly and helpful and you become friends with this great group of people.

I saw how the auction treated people's goods and was appalled. So many items left in the rain to rust. I've been there when the sign said "open" and the door was locked.The only reason I gave 2 stars is because there are some really good deals waiting to be had. But I do feel bad for the people putting their goods on auction and NOT getting the best service from the auction house itself.

Awesome employees. They do a great job as a full service auction company. Get on the schedule, pull up and unload and they take care of the rest and get top dollar for your items. They do a great job of sorting and taking pictures of items. They also are great to work with as a buyer. They help you load and get your items quick. Painless transactions as a buyer and seller. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to buy or sell items.

I talked to Shelby and a gentleman who's name I can't remember (I'm so sorry!) over the phone and they were both so awesome! I did an online purchase so I haven't been to the actual business, but the customer service was 10/10. Would definitely do business with them again!

Mark Putney is pillar of the Indianola community and runs an impressively busy and thriving business. Familiarize yourself with their online bidding process and go check out the items before you bid. Most of the poor reviews on here must be from people who did not do their own research or regretted their own mistakes. I dig Putney Auction Service!

Very unhappy with the service. My grandfather passed away and a lot of his stuff was taken to there. There were 2 Jade rings and an Onex Spanish soldier (conquistador) ring. These were his and very special to him and we were not aware they went to the auction and we were scammed. The pictures of his jewelry had these 3 items but we go to pick them up and they were gone and staff seemed careless in looking at security fottage and would not take fault for it. Very extremely disappointed in them and letting someone pocket these priceless airlooms. If there was a zero star rating I d do that in a heartbeat. You ve upset me in every way possible and my family.

As a buyer they are great, as the seller the commission is 38% that s very steep in my opinion. Not up front on commission fees nor is there any paperwork up front to identify what commission rate is, advertising fees, and when payout is which is 2 weeks after sale day. Advise to take pics of what you re dropping off and get in writing a list of your items and commission rate and other hidden fees. Mark is very nice and responsive tho, office lady didn t have much time for me ever. Thanks

Very UNHAPPY with their service. Rude, careless people. The woman that answers the phone makes you feel like you are bothering her.Dirty atmosphere, not helpful at all. Their commission is extreme. The way they take care of your items is sad, and they didn't even tell me about the "disposing" of anything that didn't sell . Do NOT do business with them!!

BUYERS BEWARE!! Do not buy from them. They will take your payment and then turn you over to collections as unpaid without ever contacting you to attempt to resolve it first. It was $70 paid in cash and I had to provide my paid invoice to collections. Mark never answers the phone or called me back!! Apparently to cowardly to apologize even after his mistake which froze my online accounts. I had to deal with the secretary who had very little knowledge or authority. Very poor business practice and cost my business hours of working trying to straighten out their mistake and several missed auctions because of it!!

Online only auctions these days. Good deals to be had, without having to venture out in the crowds. They list the weekly auctions about a week and a half ahead, so you have plenty of time to browse, and see what's available. Other auctions (estate sales, fundraisers, etc) are listed longer. The pictures and descriptions online aren't always great for the weekly auctions. But you can go see the items in person on specific days/times.The staff is always so kind and helpful! Including helping load the items in your vehicle.

Super organized and efficient when you go to pick up your purchases. The online auctions site is really simple to use-sometimes too easy! The staff and owner and really helpful and always friendly on pick up day.

90% of the stuff we bought doesn t work. They only show untested on the product description on the main page about 50 percent. So it makes you think you are getting a tested product when in fact you aren t.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! I cannot stress this enough. Horrible experience. I was the winning bidder of an online auction and when I went to pay. I was told that the auction hadn t actually ended but in fact closed 12 hours later. Instead of honoring the online auction or even notifying bidders of a technical malfunction, they simply forfeited my bid. Definitely will never do business with this company again and I ll definitely encourage others to do the same.

Always a great experience, Mark and the crew are always wonderful to work with, had 1 problem, not with the employees, but with another bidder, someone removed an item from the box I won, Brought it to their attention, the owner corrected the problem...have bid on a lot of auctions and I'm very happy.

I bought a tool here as is boxed up in the new Box so you couldn't see it In my opinion kind of a shady way to sell something obviously bad

CONSIGNER'S BEWARE!!!!!First of all Putney Auction charged 40% commission on my items sold + $41.75 advertising + $25 dump fee. . .which then adds up to a staggering total commission of 49.25%. There's something so wrong with their business practices. Call 911. . .I think I just got robbed!!!!! :(

Good place to buy items cheap. Bad place to sell items. Staff does not know value of items and makes no effort to promote them for a better selling price. Very disappointed.

Our items were not handled with care and furniture was marked and scuffed. Some items were marked with another consignor's number. Would not recommend.
