High quality work. They are subjected to my project cars, all in various states of disrepair. I'm pretty sure they work on much nicer cars than mine, the quality of their work certainly suggests it. This is exactly why I chose them for the work I cannot do myself. If I can't do the work, I want the best quality results so it doesn't have to be done twice.

I started bringing my Jeep into their shop over a year ago. At first I felt like I was getting the best service: they have an option for you to borrow vehicles if needed and usually had my car finished quickly regardless the reason. This week I brought my Jeep in for an issue that ended up requiring a part. Prior to coming in, I had the battery checked and Interstate Battery confirmed that the battery was in good shape. First I was called with claims that I would need a new battery, even after I confirmed the battery had been tested by the manufacturer I wasn t given a choice to not replace the battery. I came to pick up the battery and replace it anyway the next morning. Interstate Battery reconfirmed that the battery did not need to be replaced and that the equipment shops use aren t as reliable as the actual battery testers Interstate Battery has. After bringing the new battery I was told the other part required would arrive either that evening or the next morning. After receiving no updates I called only for them to claim the part had magically arrived upon my call. The more I have trusted my Jeep at the shop the more I see I am being taken advantage of for whatever reason. They have had my car longer and longer each visit and today it has been a total of three days with no updates as to what is being done on my vehicle and when. The representative at Interstate Battery confirmed that the battery replacement was just something else for me to pay for. This also is not the first time I have dropped off my car days before a Friday, they are not open on the weekends so if they don t complete the work order by then you won t have access to your vehicle until the following week. I don t understand what s taking so long for me to have no updates if the part was supposed to arrive in the morning. If I don t have my vehicle back before the weekend there will be issues.

I just LOVE Shade Tree! I can t say enough great things about their work and their assistance. My most recent time there was another testament to their honesty and integrity. There were several things I needed to have done. Pam assisted me in deciding which services I should get done right away and which I could schedule out a couple of months. I m actually looking forward to bringing my car back for more services!

I brought my vehicle in the same day I reached out to them and it was in and out within two days! A lot of fixes were needing done and they were keeping me updated as they went! They are very honest, kindhearted people! Wouldn t want to bring my vehicle anywhere else!

Honest, professional and stand behind their work. Review is long time coming since we have had several vehicles serviced by Shade Tree though the years. Had an issue with a run of a faulty part that failed while out of state and they went above and beyond taking care of us and getting us back home safe. Thank you Clint and his team for their integrity and service.

This place is truly a hidden gem here in Grimes! I took my vehicle in for service on my brakes and rotors, Dan & Pam was AMAZING. They not only got me set up with a loaner vehicle at no additional expense even for the gas. And last but not least, the repair cost was LESS than any repair shop i called. Definitely will be taking my vehicle to Shade going forward.

Always have had great experiences with this place, recently Took my car in thinking I had a bad head gasket they inspected it and determined that was not the issue so they didn't try to charge me for an unnecessary repair like alot of shops would.

I ve had two great experiences with everyone at Shade Tree. They are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They always explain the problem, how to fix it, and the cost before they do any work and they are very quick. I have brought my older vehicle to Shade Tree a couple times now, their service is excellent, staff is great at explaining issues that the vehicle is having and they didn t push to do other things. The last time I brought it to them they did the repairs and let me know the vehicle was ready for pick up and I asked last minute if they could do an oil change and they squeezed it in that afternoon which I appreciated. Lastly their prices are definitely competitive and fair and they a quick to get the repairs done.

I am lucky enough to live close to Shade Tree but even if I didn't, I'd choose to drive across town for their service. They're always extremely helpful, friendly, and get the services requested done in a timely manner. They're never pushy about getting anything extra done to your vehicle ever. I never feel like I'm trying to be "sold" something when I take my car in. They also have a shuttle service or a complimentary loaner car available which is always extremely helpful as we are a 1 vehicle family. These guys are amazing, they deserve 12 stars. They'll show you every single thing that is wrong, everything that could go wrong, and everything that's looking good.Such an impressive team. They might charge just a tiny bit more than other places but it's definitely, for sure, worth it. You will be well taken care of and you'll have confidence in your vehicles. These people are legendary!I love this business and will always only take my vehicles to them.

I recently relocated to the Des Moines area and this was my first visit to Shade Tree Auto. I asked to have the oil changed and tires rotated on my 2011 Dodge Ram. I also asked to have the passenger door looked at, as the electrical lock was no longer working. I can manually lock the door. I waited all day to hear back and I m the early evening I received a text that the inspection on my truck was completed. This was never discussed when I booked the appointment. When I called, it was explained to me the solenoid in the passenger door would need replaced. That price was 616.46. I was told most of that was parts cost because the only part available was from Dodge. A quick google search I located several parts from other vendors ranging in price from 50-200 dollars. It was explained to me I also needed rear brakes. Parts and labor to change the pads and rotors would be 742.41. I thought that was extremely high. I called around to four different shops. Each shop quoted me 400-550 dollars for a brake change.I recommend people do their research before committing to having your vehicle worked on here. I will take my vehicles to another place from now on.

I LOVE hearing back from Pam (she's a wealth of knowledge). Sure, she get's the info from the technician's (they've earned my TRUST many years ago), however Pam is an expert at recommending and KNOWING what services need to be performed to keep our family mobile and most important - SAFE. This is a top-notch business that truly cares about their customers. They are always warm, welcoming, and accommodating. They work with you in every way possible. It's been like going to family for help. I always feel like I'm treated fairly no matter how big or small the issue. They have been the kindest group of people to help me when I'm in need. We switched from another auto service in town because we were not happy with their customer service. Shade Tree Auto has always been professional and helpful. However, our most recent visit has shocked and surprised me. We had taken our Equinox in to get some issues taken care of - we were long overdue for a tune up/oil change, but knew we had other, more expensive issues going on. Shade Tree Auto took care of us and got us back on the road. The next week, however we noticed an issue with our brakes so we took it back in. Fully prepared to pay full price for this new issue, we picked our Equinox up with no bill. Shade Tree Auto said it was on them because they should have caught the issue themselves last week when they were looking at it. Love this integrity, honesty, and helpfulness. I often feel taken advantage of in auto services because of my lack of knowledge, but Shade Tree Auto treats us with respect and has amazing customer service! First off, HUGE thank you to these guys for getting my truck in on such short notice and getting all the issues fixed efficiently.I go on long distance hauls with my horse and needed a general look over at my truck. They provided me a loaner as I do not have multiple vehicles, the loaner was reliable and clean!They were quick to diagnose the issues and get me price estimates. Shade Tree is always awesome.After the free overall inspection, I was talked to about my car and asked what was I wanted to fix. They answered my questions honestly and did not try to push repairs that I didn t want to take care of since I m upgrading soon.I also always enjoy story time and talking shop when I m dropping off or picking up. I had just moved to Grimes for work and my car was making noise from under the hood. I knew there was something wrong with the power steering. I had already looked it up on google and asked my mechanic friend back from Texas. I was then looking around a local repair shop to repair it and found them. First, I was told that they were going to do a diagnostic on what the problem was and told me it would be around $65. I said sure and agreed on doing oil change as well. After FOUR PLUS hours later, the bill came out to be $180. I mean who charges $165 just for diagnostics(while some places do it for free) and $15 for oil change? This is with the discount. Smh. Also, the front desk guy had such an off vibe. I really didn t feel comfortable with him. I felt like he charged me on purpose swear to god. Some people really work hard for their money and I think it s wrong to rip people off for services like this. I had the worst worst worst experience everrr !!!!! I am not just saying this because I was charged so much it s because I felt like I was treated wrong. They just ruined my day. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone .. y all are wrong for this.
