I recently moved to Ft Dodge and left behind my trusted mechanic of over 20 years. Not trusting mechanics in general, I was reluctant to go to a dealership. I ve had my 2014 Ram 3500 diesel in the shop for maintenance and repairs several times and Shimkat is top notch! I was treated like family. Rick and the team in the service department has been very knowledgeable and caring. I ve checked the pricing for repairs and maintenance in the atea and found this dealership to be very fair with pricing. Instead of getting second hand parts that ware out quickly, I pay a little extra and have peace of mind. The work is done right by certified mechanics. Thank you Team Shimkat! I m a customer for life.

Best service department ever! All of the service advisors are great! The mechanics are knowledgeable. Bought my last 3 vehicles there.

I might be ignorant or misinformed right now, but $200+ to revert my car's software back to the first version seems like a lot of money and a waste of time. Apparently, this software is supposed to be updated every now and then (like my computer), so IDK why they didn't update it to the most recent version. I'll have to look through some more information, but I'm able to update my car's software with my computer? In the future, that might become my first option.I hope 3/5 is accurate to my situation. If not, I'm sure someone will tell me at some point.

Absolutely the best car purchasing experience EVER!No flash, trash or BS... No high pressure jabbering...just honest & open salespersons & financing dept personal...Extremely kind & polite service I found the car I wanted to buy within minutes of meeting with my sales consultant, Jimmy, at 8 am. I finished my purchase with business manager Chris, by 10 am! Super Fast & easy! Wow!ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD!

We traveled over an hour to shop Shimkat Motors and were extremely pleased with the service we received. All staff (from sales to financing) were tremendously helpful and went above and beyond to ensure our buying experience was positive. They were knowledgeable, attentive, and didn t pressure us, and when we were ready to buy, they worked diligently to complete the buying process in a short period of time, so we didn t have to make an additional trip back. Extremely transparent through the entire process and followed-up the sale with a hand-written thank you note. Definitely, worth our drive and made our buying process extremely simple and fun! HIGHLY recommend!

I have so many great things to say about Shimkat Motor Company in Fort Dodge. This was hands down the BEST new car buying experience I have ever had.From the internet interaction to the financial part, all the way through they have the best customer service I have encountered in ANY dealership I have visited.I wrongly assumed that a bigger town dealership would have more options & better service but I was wrong. I have had horrible experiences in San Antonio, DesMoines & Ankeny in comparison.I will be coming back for all of my maintenance here too because I loved how nice & down to earth these guys were. No pressure, no hassle, to the point & got it done without making me feel rushed through or like a number. They also didn't try to squeeze every dollar out of me that they could.I didn't have an inside connection to anyone there either, and I am sure they will treat you just as nice as they did us.

I took my wife's car in to get a flat fixed. Three months later, while she was driving, the wheel came flying off. It turns out they hadn't tightened the lug nuts properly. When I called in, they said that since she had driven 3,000 miles, they didn't feel responsible. Luckily, she was in town and driving slowly or it could've had much more tragic outcome than $1,000 repair bill.

My daughter had an issue with her windshield wiper while driving home from college in the rain. We called Shimkat motors and Brian in the service dept got my daughter in right away. They fixed her wiper and tightened the mechanism that controls the wipers ASAP!I am super impressed with their level of customer service and would recommend them to anyone!THANK YOU Brian!!

Not really a fan of this place. I moved 3 hours from where I grew up and wanted a nice place to take my car for oil changes so I thought a dealership would be the place to go.First time I got my oil changed everything was fine.Second time something went wrong. I was going to work and my car just suddenly stopped and wouldn't go. I shut it off, turned it back on and the same thing happened. I went to push on the gas and my car wouldn't move. The only good thing that happened was Shimkat got my car towed and said they'd look at it right away. Well, right away meant almost 3 hours later. All they could come up with was "nothing is wrong with it" and dropped it back off at home. Now, they had said that my car needed a new strut and I know NOTHING about cars believed them and called my step dad to have it looked at when I went home. $350 later that turns out not the problem. The guy I trust told me it was just bad back tires and he was right.Maybe go there for oil changes but I definitely wouldn't go there or trust what they say when it comes to the inspection aspect of it.

The worst customer service I have ever seen coming out of the service department. My vehicle was in there more than a handful of times for the same issue which never got fixed because "the sound goes away" "there's nothing wrong with it" it was in there for other issues the first month we had it. Which surprisingly enough had to be taken in twice for that issue to get fixed because the first time it wasn't done. The man in the service department told me face to face, they would prefer to not work on my vehicle because they can't make me happy. All I wanted was the issue with my vehicle to be taken care of...I mean..I did purchase the extended warranty with the van! HORRIBLE experience. Only positive side was the loan advisor we worked with and the salesman who sold the van! I do not recommend purchasing a vehicle from this place and I certainly will NOT be back!!

We went in on a Saturday car shopping. There was a young man that came out to help us. We explained that we were looking to possibly purchase 2 vehicles and wanted to test drive 3 different vehicles they had on the lot. He took my driver's license and went to make a copy. When he came back out his manager came with him. His manager asked if we were more serious about one more than the others and proceeded to tell us that they were short staffed and basically had no time to test drive 3 vehicles, which is funny because we were the only customers there at that time. I felt bad for the salesman as he was relatively new and very nice. We basically felt that we were not important enough to help. Well we made it real easy for them and bought 2 vehicles that day somewhere else. Would have been a nice comission check for that young salesman.

Great follow up service from TJ and all the staff at Shimkats. Very impressed with the friendliness from people opening the doors to everyone being sure I was waited on! A staff member even took the time to pick up a newspaper blowing across the lot, you don't see and experience that kind of dedication in very many places of business!

They are high on their prices. Plus I bought a Durango from them and asked them to fix the squeak in the front of the vehicle. They did a quick fix and send it out the door with me. Three months later they came back just as bad if not worse when we test drove it.

**Traders Caution** The staff is extremely kind and nice to work with (that's the good stars). But, if you are looking to trade, be cautious, as they will only give you an "Average" Trade-In value for your vehicle at best. No matter if you have kept your vehicle in tip-top shape, stayed on top of oil changes, and even detailed it inside-and-out every year, they will not give you what NADA Guides calls a "Clean" Trade-In value for it. If they literally show you that they ARE giving you a "Clean" Trade-In value for your vehicle, chances are that the vehicle you are buying has not had it's price reduced enough in your favor; so they show you the trade value is good since the purchase is high (bad). Just wanting to look out for other Auto consumers at Shimkat and warn them to shop smart . . it truly is a numbers game more than a 'make customers happy' game.

Very High prices for used vehicles with really High miles and offer the worst trade-in value out of the 30 car lots i visited before buying my 2018 ram and it definitely wasn't from them. I highly recommend you avoid them they don't deserve your business.

Took my RAM 3500 in for a leak. They found two others. They checked my certified used status and saved me 3500$.

My Dodge diesel had almost made it back from a 5 STAR dealer in Sioux Falls when it died again. I had it towed to Shimkat Motors. They were able to get a diagnosis in a timelyy fashion and were courteous enough to let me purchase a rebuilt part and save about $1000.00. I didn't make it out of the driveway when it died again. Brian, the service advisor took over and about a week later the truck was running again. While it was costly and took some time the technician stayed on task and got it fixed. I believe them to be straight up and would recommend them. I am a former GM service manager and mechanic so I appreciate what they go through.

I went to Shimkat for my new car everyone was so helpful and nice. I will most definitely be coming back to shimkat for all my car needs from now on. Bought a used car, everything was fine til the ride home and the gas gauge wouldn t work. 8 months later still doesn t work after they tried fixing it and tried charging me for it. They also didn t mention it burns a quart in a month!

Oil change was good. Looked at new vehicles while there. I am torn between Jeep Renegade Islander & Compass! It would be my first ever brand new vehicle.

I have to say my favorite part about Shimkat Motor Company has to be the staff. Over the years we have developed a working relationship that has led them to know and understand exactly what I am looking for. Also, not to mention, their pricing is competitive and fair!
