I have taken my pickup to Silzer Auto Repair for several years now, and I am very glad that I have. My pickup is a 2001 Nissan with low miles, but has seen the wear of the years. Sometimes getting parts for a vehicle that old is a challenge, but I can say the Silzer has always found a solution and kept the cost very, very reasonable. They have always kept me informed of progress of repairs and let me know what may need to be attended to in the future. I can say that I have never been overcharged for a service, and in fact sometimes the bill is less that I was quoted. The office personnel is professional and friendly and seem to care about their clients. I definitely recommend them for your automotive needs.

Complete Scam artists. Took our car in to get a quote for a job, the guy had $125 "supplies fee" for rags and things. First part on the list was a whole kit. The next 2 parts on the list were parts that were already in the original kit. He was trying to get extra parts on my dime. I told him that I wasn't happy with the quote and gave him 3 hour Notice that I would be coming to pick the car up. When I showed up to pick the car up, it was Still taken apart, and he says " You know you're gonna have to total it now". I asked him if he could just put the pieces on that were on there when I drove it to him, that I didn't want any of the new parts. He refused to put it back together for me, And started to get loud and disrespectful. Then he said I threatened him and called the cops on me, after I already left the shop. These people will try to buy extra parts and put extra fees on your quote, And when you try to mention it, they talk over you and get loud..

Needed some tires swapped on and they fit us in and even dealt with some issues with fix a flat pumped full in the old tires. They were very understanding and did it all at a very reasonable price. Good people!

I've taken my car to Silzer over a dozen times. I never feel taken advantage of, I feel like their prices are more than fair, and they've thrown me favors here and there (like replacing my rusted license plate for free). I really appreciate these guys. And hearing the Moana soundtrack from the garage always cracks me up.

There is so much good to say about this shop. I bought a car from Bassi. Our family would adopt him if he weren't already a grown man.We've had some service and repair work done after the sale. The shop has been fair, quick, and thorough.

If you own a Subie, then look no further - Bassi is your guy. They do excellent work at very competitive prices. Everyone that works there is great to talk to and they take great care of you. I wouldn't go anywhere else and it's a 20+ minute drive for me.

They replaced stabilizer links and right lower ball joint and said they would throw in a free alignment. However, I picked the car up and noticed the steering wheel wasn t straight. When I called I was told that they decided not to align it because it was fine. In addition, it s now pulling hard to the right. I even told them I was taking a long trip with it in 2 days and wanted to make sure it was all good. Although the owner acknowledged the mistake, he said he couldn t get me in to fix THEIR mistake for a week or so. I really started out feeling good about this shop but in the end I was left very disappointed. It s hard to excuse such a blatant mistake that could have been easily discovered with a proper test drive. Not to mention the fact that they wouldn t fix it right away.

They do great work here, have excellent service, and they're very friendly. They get bonus points for a nice office dog. Scheduling was easy and hassle-free. It's very conveniently located for those near Beaverdale.

Silzer is a great auto repair shop. They earned my trust, confidence and respect the very first time they helped me out with my daughters car while at Drake U and a dead winter battery. Simple job but their respect and honesty showed through immediately. Went back to them again now for a more serous brake job and again proved the owner is personally involved and keeps you informed along the way. They went out of their way to again fix my daughter's car in the SAME DAY. They would not have to do that. I truly appreciate them and 'down home' businesses like Silzers. Very few around like them anymore.Service: Brakes

We have used Silzer auto repair for many of our organizations vehicles. Nick is always one above beyond to make sure that we are safe and get us back on the road. Having an honest relationship is absolutely priceless. Brought a vehicle back in for a problem, they jumped right on it once they realized it was a part that was already fixed. They honored the warranty no questions asked. Honestly they were the ones who brought it up. There's one thing that means the most is fair price honesty and integrity. We have been having Silzer repair all of our vehicles for many, many years. They are very honest, have even turned us away when we THOUGHT we had an issue....and they were correct....who does that??We value their opinion and they have always been very fair and super reasonable when it comes to their prices and expertise. I HIGHLY recommend Silzer for any of your car repairs and you can rest assured it will be repaired quickly and accurately! Doug and his team are very professional and will take great care of you!

Everyone there was super friendly and kept it real with what I truly needed fixed. I could tell they did everything they possibly could to make fixing my rotors, brake pads, and calipers the most cost effective. They got my car in right away, and I ended up paying a fourth of the cost I would have paid at a dealership! I called my family right away and recommended they go there next time as well.Service: Brakes

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCETrustworthy, honest mechanics who take the time to give options and opinions. No pressure, just good service.I took my 2002 Subaru into Silzer thinking my car was on its last leg. I was convinced by google searches that I had the notorious head gasket issue, and it would cost $$$ to fix. Doug and the crew at Silzer were AMAZING and took excellent care of my Subaru, diagnosing it with a much smaller problem that has similar characteristics of the head gasket, but was much less to fix. They easily could have taken advantage of my inexperience, but instead proved themselves to be upstanding people, and excellent mechanics. They saved me thousands of dollars, and keep me in my car!I would not hesitate to recommend this shop to any friend or family. They even went above and beyond and vacuumed the inside of my car!I now look forward to many happy miles and years with my Subaru. Thank you Silzer!!

I highly recommend this repair business. The rear differential on my Nissan Frontier had ground up a bearing - and I could not return home to northern Minnesota until it was repaired in Des Moines. The Silzer team got me in their work schedule within a day, quickly assessed it, gave me a quote, and then fixed it. In addition, with the wheels & brakes already off they also replaced - with my hearty approval - the disc brakes & saved me the related labor since everything was already off the truck for the differential repair.I stopped by the shop while they were working on it & they showed me all the failed parts that had been making all the noise while I was driving.The outcome and performance of the repair was terrific - and I felt for a very reasonable price. They took excellent care of a perfect stranger from northern Minnesota. I am sure they would do the same for anyone coming in - they are nice people - and excellent mechanics. I would give them a ten if a could. I can see why they have a high Google rating.

I took my car in last minute on a weekday and they got me in right away without a problem and listened very well to what issues I was having with my car. I dropped my car off and ask for a bumper to bumper inspection when I got there also, they were very honest with me about what the issue could possibly be. I had more issues then I thought and they took care of it and let me know I needed a new front end suspension and that they could order parts that day and get started on it as soon as possible. Two of employees came in the next day on their day off to get my car done and get me back on the road, also gave me a loaner car to get to and from work the next day. They quality of work was the best I ve ever had at a shop and the price was affordable for the work to that was done, I would highly recommend them to anyone needing work done on their vehicle. A big thanks to everyone who helped get my car fixed and getting me back on the road.

Highly recommend this place, in my case the sunroof of my F150 was damaged. (Looked everywhere in Des Moines no one else but them had an actual Sunroof repair guy) It was a nice experience the diagnostic was fast, accurate, and gave me an estimate the same day. I even ask Nick about hooking up the LED fog lights because I changed the front bumper, and he worked with me with the price. Definitely nice people they try to work with you and give you the best solutions for your car.Services: Electrical repair, Electrical

My wife found Silzer Auto before I d been there and commented about how much she liked them. Fast forward a year I had some work done including new front tires at a different shop my insurance recommends. Well whomever sealed the tires didn t do the job correct and each side developed bulges within a couple weeks of one another. The original shop wasn t standing behind their work (it had to be something I d done) despite it being only a couple months. I took my car to silzer for the first tire. They got it done quick and correctly. When it happened on the other side they got it done even quicker. They ve been nothing but friendly professional and timely. They re local and I am quite satisfied!!! I ve found my shop!

I have been using Silzer Auto Repair since moving to Des Moines 2 years ago and they have been outstanding. The team there is very knowledgeable and the work they do is top notch. Most recently my defrosters weren't properly working and they not only did the work but took the time to explain why they had stopped working and showed me what pieces needed replacing. The customer service is also "white glove" as Doug takes time out of his day to personally call and check up with you.Their prices are extremely fair and I leave satisfied knowing I am supporting a local business.

My Honda Accord's ac compressor service was done here. Doug, Nick and Sam are very nice and professional. The fix was perfect. These guys really stand behind their work. If you are not 100% satisfied with the fix they will work with you until you are fully satisfied with the result. And the best part was that I was given a loaner car so dropping off and getting back was seamless. Even though Silzer Auto is a little far from my work I am going to stick to this place because of the quality of their work and professionalism.

Doug and his team are great! They are honest, informative and great communicators! I was impressed with their knowledge and confidence in diagnosis. They certainly didn t guess like the place down the street. The pride and quality in their work is unbeatable! I will not take my vehicle to anyone else again. Excellent service!!Doug got my 95 Miata into his shop to look at and advise me about clutch problems. He evaluated, got the parts, installed them, then called me to come pickup my car by the end of the same day.Thank you to Doug Silzer and your team.

My truck started overheating on a late Friday afternoon. I took it in for them to look at it, they were able to diagnose the problem, and they put two mechanics on it to be sure they could get it back to me that afternoon. They did a great job communicating the problem to me, and did this all for a great price. The following week, I got a follow up call from the owner to verify everything was working well and to thank me for my business. I was very impressed and would recommend Silzer Auto Repair to anyone needing work on their vehicle.

The best evaluation of honesty and integrity for an auto repair shop comes when things go wrong. In the service business, occasionally things do go wrong, and I am most impressed at the way Doug Silzer, Nick, and the team handle these problems. Doug means it when he says that his highest priority is the satisfaction of his customers. Silzer has been my repair shop for ten years. I will never go anywhere else. I highly recommend them. They are the best.

I had a problem with my sunroof last week and took my car to Silzer Auto.Nick took me out into the shop and showed me the track had broken on the right side of the unit.He quickly explained how you have to remove all the plastic parts, sun visors, seat belt, headliner, lights and wiringjust to get to the sunroof frame so it can then be removed. Nick had one tested at a junk yard and now it works perfect in myFord Flex, all at a fair cost even though it took him most of the day. A huge thank you to the Silzer team for taking care of me, when I am on a tight budget. I highly recommend them for any of your car needs! Locally owned, fair pricing and honest!!

Silzer has always been amazing to work with. I just dealt with Hummel's Nissan for a possible warranty issue. It ended up not being a warranty issue and they quoted me $2100 to fix it. I decided to go to Silzer for a second estimate as I have always trusted their expertise and candor, and they were able to fix it for $300. They just saved me $1800 and a major headache. I have and will keep recommending them to people as they are the best mechanic I have ever dealt with.

After given the suggestion to take my car here by a co-worker years ago, I have no need to go elsewhere for my vehicle repair needs.The issue I brought my car in for required a dozen hours to locate the issue, hours I was never charged. It was obvious to me that the owner wanted to earn my business, and every interaction since has told me they wish to keep me as a customer.They are open, honest, up front, and detailed in the work they perform on my vehicles. I can regularly get my car in for a repair within the week, often within a couple of days. Best shop in Des Moines hands down! We have been taking our vehicles here for years. All of the staff are great to deal with, especially Nick and Doug. Had some special work done on a classic car to put a car seat for my son in. Nick knocked it out of the park like usual. They always do a fantastic job on everything.
