I can t say enough about this place. Originally we took our car to a different place and were quoted a ridiculously high amount. We were recommended Livingstons by a friend, they gave us a quote without charging us, on the same day, and it was half the original quote - it was such a relief! Very courteous, professional, updated us consistently, super fast work, fair prices, and a great repair. Will definitely be coming back if we need any other work done.

Had my car done in less than a day. Very friendly and did not try to upsell me. The cost for the alternator was less than what I was quoted.

Had problems with troubleshooting and took longer than I expected. It happens, they stu k with it and satisfied my curiosity as to what to fix. Will definitely be back to have them work on my cars.

I've been taking my car here for service for 6 years. Dennis and the staff there are very polite and you know what the cost is going to be beforehand. A couple of years ago I took my car to Honda because the starter was going out. After they told me how much it was going to cost, I called Dennis and he would do it for $200 less than Smart Honda. Of course I took my car to Dennis. Very honest and won't tell you the car needs something when it doesn't. Good honest people.

Honest & fair priced, if it's a problem that's more than what the cars worth they'll tell you, & they typically call after diagnostic before fixing it.

We have brought our car here for serious repairs twice now, and both times I have had excellent service done in a timely manner with way better than average prices. I brought my car in mid-day on a busy Friday and he told us he probably wouldn't get to it before the end of the day, which I was completely okay with, but he managed to finish my vehicle before the end of the day with several serous repairs. I would highly recommend, you won't get the same service or prices anywhere. It's hard to find such a straight forward mechanic. I won't ever go anywhere else now.

Very reliable services! Denny is great at making sure you fully understand what the problem is with your vehicle. He gives great examples. VERY reasonable prices. I only take my car here now, even though it's across town for me it's 100% worth it.

I was experiencing a battery drain while my truck was off. I was able to find the problem and remove the fuse but didn't feel comfortable trying to go on from there. Luckily I didn't because problem was a bit more complicated. I called and set up an appointment, dropped off my car and staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They called me once I was off work to inform me of the problem and what it would take to fix and how much. He then asked if I needed my truck back right away. I said yes because I was going out of town that weekend. He said, okay, we will get it done tonight then. Not even 2 hours later I was picking up my car and at a good price. They walked me through what was wrong and how they fixed it. Couldn't be happier with how it went and I will be back with future repairs when needed and will definitely will/would refer them to anybody.

Best place in the Des Moines area to take your car for any engine work. Dennis is fantastic. I've taken 4 of my cars there for 20 years.

Livingston's is a family-owned shopwhere you can trust the opinion they give. They are reliable, truthful, knowledgeable, and all-around fantastic people. We've been coming here for years and I will continue going there for many, many more years to come. If you want your car to be well taken care of and thoughtfully assessed, Livingston's is the place for you. I recommend them to anyone I meet because when it comes to my car, I only trust the best.

Have been coming here for years. Always fast ,courteous and straight to the point, I feel them to be very trustworthy and honest. Dennis Livingston is a great mechanic and kind person.Theres a reason thier lot is always full.

Have been taking my cars here for years. Always fair and polite. Won't cheat you. If he does the work, it is done right and not just says the work is done. Has polite staff and fair prices. I've had oil changes to major repairs done. When he retires, I'll have to stop driving, since I won't want anyone else to work on my cars.

I cannot say enough about Livingston's customer service. I arrived at Des Moines airport after a red-eye from San Francisco to discover that there was something terribly wrong with my car...and I had a two-hour drive ahead of me. My insurance company called a tow truck and suggested I get towed to Livingston's (not living in Des Moines, I had no idea where to go). Dennis Livingston told me he was short a couple of guys, but that they would take a look and "do their best."Well, their best was fantastic! These guys figured out what was wrong, explained my options, found the necessary part in town, had it delivered on the double, and had me out of there in just a couple of hours. They were friendly and concerned, and completely professional. They prioritized my repair because I was clearly in a jam. Yes, they have lots of diplomas and awards on their walls, so I'm sure they are super mechanics. But the fact that they were willing to bail me out, and be extremely nice about it is what makes me wish they were in my hometown, so I could take all of my business to them.Huge thanks to Dennis and Keith! I highly recommend Livingston's!

Dennis and the others at Livingston's are quality mechanics. I've been going there for over 20 years and will keep going back. I send anybody that needs a good mechanic to Livingston's for that reason.

I have been going to Livingston Automotive for 17 years plus. Dennis, Stan, and the rest of the men at Livingston's are the best and most honest group of people you will ever meet! I have called them with car problems and they get me in right away. Being a woman, it is hard to find mechanics that will be honest with you and treat you with the utmost respect. I HIGHLY recommend Livingston's. You will not be disappointed.

They always seem to be the cheapest mechanic in town, but their work always holds up. I trust these guys with all my cars and will continue to go here for all my needs. They are ALWAYS busy with a full lot of cars but they ALWAYS have quick turnaround. It's a wonderful business and I hope they never change.

Dennis quoted me a fair price on a timing belt/water pump service for our family's van. He found two other belts and an engine mount needing replaced. The quote was dead on outside of the additional parts. No additional labor for these as they were removed for the timing belt/water pump service. Have been using a well known and well awarded small shop in town for years, but have been looking for a shop closer to home. Livingston's was recommended by friends. We will be going back!

I firmly believe that this is the most honest shop in Des Moines. You never question the quality of the work either. The only hard part is getting an appointment! These guys are always busy for a variety of good reasons. I bring them everything now, even after moving to Waukee.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I took my 97 year old grandfathers vehicle here after he had taken it a couple other places that offered cheap prices and never performed the work they said they would do actually the vehicle was worse. Livingston fixed it right the first time and even took the time to show me the old parts. I would highly recommend this place.

Hard to find an affodable repair shop anymore, I dropped my car off not expecting it to be even looked at for a few days, but they asked if I needed it fixed that day. I was very surprised that they would get me in so quickly if I needed it. This time I didn't need the vehicle back right away so a few days later my car was fixed with a much smaller bill then I was expecting, great business!

My boyfriend recommended this place and I would recommend this place to anyone as well. I took my vehicle in to get one thing fixed and they instantly let me know of other things going wrong that could be fixed to make my vehicle 100%. Now that's a company you can trust

Southside staple for quality work. Always busy so make sure to call and get an appointment. They stand by what they do and the premium products they put into your vehicle. A true no bull business who won't sell you anything you don't need.

As me and fam were about 1 hr into an 7 hr drive to Kansas, our truck started making an alarming noise coming from a timer belt. We called ahead, went in, and got the belt and it's spinner replaced within the hour. All nice and honest workers!! Ordered parts on the dot and they identified the problem with effiency and accuracy.

Their customer service is better than anywhere else I've gone. They took time to explain their process and diagnosis in a way that I could understand. I would definitely go back there if I need to.
