We had a really nice stay four times at what we think is a very nice campground (Oakwood Campground, Clear Lake, Iowa) with great pull through sites with full hookup. We thought we were getting along fine with the management and they had not informed us of any issues. Mind you this was the first that we knew of any problem after staying 4 times in one summer. We are, basicly, rule followers and have never had a problem over many decades of camping. We respect that it entails a lot of hard work to run a campground well.We acknowledge that we were wrong and made a mistake. We overstayed past noon without asking for an extension. Management approached us very agitated, accused us of overstaying and planning to winterize. She did not accept our apology, our explanation that we were not winterizing on the campground property or our offer to pay. The other half of the management then stopped in his pickup truck and yelled. "This better not ever happen again." I went to visit with him to tell him we were sorry and did not mean to intentionally frustrate or anger them. I apologized again as my husband and daughter had. I shared that we really enjoyed the campground. He did not want to visit with me and kept saying, "We are not going to talk about this."He blamed us for coming in too close to closing time twice. Apparently, 15 minutes prior to closing is too late. Blamed us for not reading the rules (we had). Blamed us for planning to winterize (he would not listen to find out we were not planning to winterize). We have never winterized in a campground. We sent a check for more than our over stay and they sent it back voided. Mind you we had had no unkind words with this couple previous to this situation. We were the ones being yelled at and unable to visit civilly with them. We tried. We did not yell or act belligerently towards either of them. I expect management to be able to inform us of a mistake we made in a civil manner not in a belligerent or threatening manner. I also expect to be able to do the right thing to make amends if we are wrong and have made a mistake.

We stayed overnight on our way to our family vacation destination. We loved it so much that we came back through on our way back home to stay a few days. The campgrounds hosts are super nice, check in is very organized and efficient and the campground is well maintained. The sites are big and the nearby downtown appears to be really nice.Side note: there is a pizza place in town that delivers to your site!!

We stayed nine nights with some friends and are just leaving for home. What a nice park! We were greeted when we arrived by Mike, the owner. We received an escort to our sites which was really great, since we've never been before. The sites are huge up on the south end! We really liked the design of the park, it made things so easy. The facilities were clean, water pressure good and wifi was strong. We camped with our two golden retrievers and things went great. We really liked the pet walk area they have for walking the dogs. It keeps the mess out of our campsites and everyone seemed to do their part in cleaning up.We hope to come back again next year!

Plenty of shade and small area of cement with nice clean tables at each spot. All areas are level .Definitely worth coming back again when we have moments to check out the beuitful lakes and parks. Definitely child friendly every place we have gone to in Area.

7/19 Days 11 & 12 of a 65 day road-trip. We arrived in Clear Lake, IA after leaving Prior Lake, MN. Park was really nice, pull thru, clean, lots of room and bonus of 5G WiFi. $35 a night. Clear Lake, we walked along side lake Sunday for couple hours. Nice homes and kinda lake-beach area. Found a spot to watch soccer championship and came back and clean up rv. Lost my best sunglasses at the site when we left.

Beautiful place to spend a week or more...or less. Stayed 2 nights and booked for 7 more on the return trip. Extra long pull throughs and plenty of trees for shade. Mike and Shelley are great park hosts and made us feel welcome. The park facilities are very clean and the grounds are well kept. Very close to the lake and quick access to bait and tackle. Thank you for an awesome stay...and more to come. God bless

We had a very pleasant 3 night stay. Clean, pretty and quiet. Trees provided shade without hanging over our roof. We managed to peek through and get satellite reception. We were parked in one of the back to back pull-through sights. Level gravel, utilities worked fine. Sites are very long, We have a 43 ft motor home and toad and could have parked two more cars! Nice picnic table on a concrete pad. Shaded grassy area to sit out. Good access to Clear Lake. Nice laundry, $2 per load on honor system.

Camped with relatives June 26-28. What a nicely laid out campground. Spacious drive thru sites. We had a buddy site where our doors were able to face each other. Was fantastic! Concrete patios with fiberglass tables. Close to lake and bike path along side street for easy access to downtown. Well worth staying at and we will for sure look to stay here again when were in Clear Lake area.

Great campground.. we were traveling west when we needed a last minute spot for the evening and they were extremely helpful in providing us a spot for the night, given that it was a Saturday evening and most places were full. The owner is very hospitable and helpful. Campground set up is awesome and the grounds are spotless. Thank you Oakwood RV Park!

One of the best Campgrounds in Iowa. Close to lake and restaurants. Owners Mike and Shelley, are great, they want everyone to have a good time. They keep the campground clean and let campers enjoy camping. The rules make it enjoyable for everyone. Nice and quiet after 10. They are sociable with everyone and will help if you have a problem. Restrooms are nice and clean. Great place to stay, lots of mature trees for shade.

This is NOT a pet friendly campsite. When we first arrived and were shown to our spot the first thing they said to us is that our dogs may be excited to be here but they must be quiet and not bark. I have 3 young dogs and I found that odd for a "Pet Friendly" campground. My boys are extremely social as they are still very young. Later that night around 10pm some people were walking their dog and my boys got really excited to see another dog and started barking. They barked about 2-3 minutes before we calmed them down. The next morning the owner came by and said "What are your plans today to keep them quiet? I heard them bark last night and it's not acceptable." I could understand if they were barking obsessively throughout the day or night but it was only a couple times and only for a couple of minutes when they would see children or other dogs bc they wanted to play.I would not recommend this campground to anyone who has social dogs or young dogs. They are "Pet Friendly" to extremely quiet dogs that are seen and not heard. It made for a very miserable weekend for both my boys and us always being on edge if they made a peep we would get kicked out. They also have no activities at all and a small playground that made a piercing screech when the kids were in the swings.

Nice sized campsites! The pull through site had plenty of room behind the RV for our vehicle. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. We went on a holiday weekend and it was clean and quiet. The quiet hours were strictly enforced. We also appreciated the later check out time. My kids were not interested in the playground area as it was just swings. The beach is a short car ride away. Could bike there as well. We will be back in the future!

Mike and Shelley were amazing hosts. We lost our kitty right at check out time , as we were hitching up and they told us we could stay for a few extra hours without paying for another night to look for her. We ended up deciding to stay another night and I'm so glad we did. The park was so quiet and clean and Mike and shelley were always around to help. Theres laundry, bathhouse and even a church on site. It was so beautiful and peaceful at night. Theres large pull through sites. All of them have full hookups. The wifi signal was strong and we never had connection issues. The neighbors were kind and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Oakwood RV Park July 7-9, 2017. The spots are huge and some are mostly shaded. All sites are full-hookups and we paid $35 per night to stay.We stayed with another couple in a large RV and we were able to be next to each other - in a Buddy spot which was super convenient so they could have their door open to ours. The staff was very nice and took us right to our spot. There are laundry and shower facilities on site as well as a very small set of swings for the kids. The laundry and Ice was on the honor system and you just left $2 for Ice, or $2 to wash or $2 to dry! This was so awesome, and truly kept up with the values of Iowans! This is truly a large rig RV Park, and used just for your stay, but is very convenient to the Lake and other attractions in the Clear Lake area. Not much for kids to do here, but very nice and quietThe state park is only a couple blocks away with access to the Lake and other amenities.Stayed July 2017

We love going here,Very quiet most of the time although we had some foreigner's next to us on our last trip blasting foreign music till almost midnight. They were so loud that they kept us up all night and they were back up at like 6 am outside being loud again. But it is what it is when camping you never know who you will be next toThe staff here are very friendly and helpful. We always go here when we are in town and it is usually very peaceful and relaxing here. Not much for kids to do but there is church on the grounds on Sunday. This is a great place for older people or boring people like me who want peace and quiet and time to just relax.

Busy and crowded (4th of July week). But it's quiet and well maintained with great host staff. A few free range chickens roam about and fresh eggs are $2.50 a dozen. Bonus!!!Great water pressure and was a full hookup. 30 amp site for $35 per night. Secure feeling and lots of well behaved guests of all ages.

Mike and Shelley were very helpful and accommodating. We arrived late, after 8 pm and they were there to guide us in and make sure that we had a site to use our satellite. Long and wide pull through sites with wonderful full hookups. Quiet and out of the way location but easy access to I35. $35.00 per night was more than reasonable. We will be back. We were traveling in a 43 ft Diesel Coach.

We came in very late after dark but the campground director was as nice and as helpful as could be. Showed us to the perfect spot with plenty of room for our big rig. Very lovely spot and super quiet. An excellent out of the way RV park where we set up quickly and enjoyed a great nights sleep. 4 stars as I've not checked the amenities.

Convenient location and nice amenities. Stayed overnight with my parents Class A motorhome and the pull through layout was very handy! Spot was nice and level with full service (electric, water, sewage) right at the site. Great price and the campground attendant was very accommodating when we arrived later than expected. Highly recommend this place!

Another wonderful campground to add to our list. Quiet and restful. Excellent campsite for the price! I did not notice the other campers even though some sites are close. The sites have full hookups, concrete patios, and a very nice picnic table for $35!!! We will definitely return here again!!!

This is a great facility. The owners took such good care of us. We didn't even know it was here 20 minutes before we got there. They fit us in for the night and then ended up getting us a beautiful double spot for the weekend after a last minute cancellatiin. I can't say enough about this place. If you are ever considering camping in Clear Lake call here first to get a reservation. You won't be disappointed!
