Grant and his team gets ahold of a towing company that shows up at a very reasonable time! I just Googled them when my previous auto shop couldn't schedule me for over a week. I was also told from him and his Team how to remedy my issues with my truck after they fixed my issues. They also have a great deal with oil changes! And they guarantee their work!

Took my truck in after I heard some knocking. Checked oil about 5 minutes before with another mechanic. Had plenty of oil on stick. Milex called and said it was not hardly any oil on stick. The lady at 1st said that it would be a $125.00 an hour diagnostic charge later the manager tried to tell me that a diagnostic will be $300.00. Before the diagnostic he said it might be $3000.00 to fix the truck. He then asked me if I wanted to sell my truck. I told him to make an offer he insulted me and my wife offering $500.00 for my beautiful truck. I opted not to get the diagnostic from them and had my truck towed away as fast as I could.**BEWARE** Shady, Shady. Shady Business Practices.

I can tell you right now that these people care. They are the best in Cedar Rapids. They are extremely fair when it comes to your vehicle. Thank you so much, Milex! Cedar Rapids needs this auto care company that helps the people. I am a loyal customer to you.

Went in for an oil change and they told me a bunch of stuff was wrong with my vehicle including needing new wipers which I just changed lol. Took my car to my mechanic, nothing leaking but did need rear brakes. They must of thought another woman let's take advantage but not this one, and the estimate they gave me, my mechanic said if needed it would of been half the cost they QUOTED. BEWARE I should of read the reviews.

The staff here have always been professional and helpful. Even in moments where I as a customer have been stressed and not as nice. The scheduling turn around is fantastic! This review has been long overdue, I have been a customer for 2 years now. I have a large family with teen drivers and we have had almost every vehicle there for repairs as large as an engine replacement, timing chain repairs down to oil changes. Although Milex is a bigger name, the owners a local family and hands on from the front door to the back door. Jen and Jeff are great at communicating and getting you the right answers to all your questions. They also work hard to get you fair pricing. Mechanic work on cars is not always easy or precise, sometimes the fix in the moment isn't all that is needed. Whenever something was missed or more was needed, the team work quick to make it right! Huge thanks to Grant, Melissa, Jen, Jeff and all the mechanic staff for taking care of my families safety!Services: Tires, Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Steering & suspension replacement, Auto A/C recharge, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning, Auto brake repair, Tire rotations, Engine repair, Vehicle Inspection, Wheel alignment, Transmission repair, Brakes, A/C installation & repair, Auto emissions testing, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacement, Battery, Oil change

Tldr: The shop has questionable business practices, including overcharging for parts and lying to customers, leading me to DIY the repair at a significantly lower cost and quicker turnaround.I can't criticize the mechanics because I didn't proceed with their services, but what I can say is that this shop exhibits highly questionable business practices. After identifying the issue within approximately 30 minutes, I was told they d want an additional hour for diagnostics and 2hrs of work and possibly more (they really emphasized on the possibly more part). We re now a little over $350. When it came time to look for parts they called a dealership and told me it would be a little over $300 for one part and a 2 day wait. We re now up to $650 and they charge $150/hr for additional work that they really emphasized the possibility of. I asked if they received a part number to see if I could find it for a lower price, and they claimed not to have received one. I felt that I knew what the part was so I started looking on my own. I wasn t sure if the part that I had found was exactly right for my car, but luckily the shop called the dealership again and this time I heard the shop ask them for the part number. So I asked the shop again if they received a part number form the dealership. I was then lied to and told that they didn t receive one. After pressing them about it they finally buckled and said We re not going to give you that information. You re running around looking for cheaper parts and we re not having it. We gotta get something out of the deal. (Is paying for the labor not cutting them in?) Now if it's their policy to not give customers diagnostic information, it is what it is. However, that doesn t justify lying to your customer s face several times and getting snippy with them. I paid them for the 1hr of diagnostics and had my car towed home. The following day I did the job myself. I found the exact OEM part I needed for $98 and had it delivered overnight. After doing 15 minutes of research I replaced the part in 1hr and was back on the road. Out of curiosity, I called the same dealership the shop contacted and asked for a quote on the part along with shipping fees. The dealership quoted me ~$190 for the part (including tax) with free shipping. (That s odd, the shop told me it would cost $300 )If you're willing to pay wild markups and be kept in the dark about what's really wrong with your vehicle, then this might be the shop for you. However, I prefer shops that are upfront, honest, and willing to work with me. The shop did have a nice greeting dog though. I'll throw in an extra star for that.

Came in for an oil change, and was happy with the customer service and the little things they did around my car. Noticed they fixed a couple things without even asking me to, and I appreciate that.

On 11/2/20 I took my car here to have the oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket replaced and paid the $1465.56 bill. After about I called and they informed me my car was ready to be picked up.When I picked up my car I noticed there was oil all over the front and side of the car, and once I opened the door it was all over the inside the car as well. I was upset but didn't say anything and went and got the car cleaned. The next day I check to make sure all the repairs were done and noticed they had broken off a piece of plastic that held up a box for the cords in the engine. They left the box just setting on top of the engine cover. I took the car back and asked they fix the plastic. I was informed they would call to see if they could get the part from BMW as they didn't have it in stock.I returned back to BMW and spoke with the owner and he informed me the part was already broken when I bought the car in. I informed him it was not as I had just checked the car before I took it in, and they would've had to remove it to replace the valve cover gasket. The owner was upset with me and told me he would try and see if they could find the part but wasn't sure. This was the 4th time I had been back and after his attitude I just said we are good. I will say they did fix the oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket, but I ended up paying for the part they broke to get to the valve cover.I'm not one to write a review on bad service or complain, but I wanted to explain my experience getting my car repaired here.Service: Oil change

Terribal work. Said they were going to charge 300$ just to do a diagnostic test on my car. When we questioned that they said they wanted me to to move my car from their lot which I nicely did and went to Dennys instead. According to Dennys 300$ just for a diagnostic is ridiculous. Thank God I didn t get my car repaired there because they were quoting me almost 1600 for a fix something that they weren t even sure about. Would rather go to someone who actually knows what they are doing and is going to be nice to their customers regardless if they can fix the problem or not. Complete jerks. Anyway irrelevant.

It s hard to find honest people, but at Milex you will! The owner Jennifer provided an exceptional experience.Work was done about a year prior to my car, and an issue arose recently in the same area. I took my car in to get it checked, and see what was wrong.I was told that a part that was replaced had an issue again.Jennifer informed me that she would honor the warranty! Which is usually unheard of, and she even did so with the car being a few miles past the warranty! What a blessing her business is to our community. May Jesus bless her abundantly!

Staff has AMAZING customer service. Jen treated us like we were family, and went the extra mile to accommodate us. Blake did a very thorough check on our car and saved us from buying a very unreliable car. If you are buying a car, spend the $50 bucks to get it inspected BEFORE your purchase at Milex!Service: Vehicle InspectionService: Vehicle Inspection

We where from out of town when our engine started acting up on our 2000 old Malibu and assumed the repair would be more than the car. We needed to toe it somewhere for the night and agreed for them to do a diagnostic test and they charged 127 rightfully so but than told us we would have to spend more money for further study before they fixed it and the receptionist told us it could possibly be a bad engine and could cost thousands(duh?,) of course they are just trying to help right? I kindly asked if we could leave it for a short time (couple days)while we researched what we wanted to do since we live a long ways away and she informed me we where to pick it up right away if we where not going to give them permission to do further diagnostic testing. They had no intention of helping us and evan admitted after lying to me they could fix anything in house and then told me later that they would send some repairs out and finish them in their shop. Why did they not just say, by the time we fix it, it would be more than the car is worth, but i could recommend someone? Seems like they did not want to help us at all, But wanted to take our money. They acted real friendly until I called them on their lie about fixing anything in house. Interesting on how bad some of the reviews are, but yet they always want the last word in response instead of ever fessing up. Asking how someone's day is going does not make you professional. We honored them by having the car toed the next day.

Great oil change. I was able to visibly see my car oil being changed. They didn't come at me with oh this this and this are issues. They only changed my oil and looked at the lights. It's a nice feeling to go in and leave without having a list of things that they looked at when I didn't want it. And the cost is fair priced. 4 stars is only because the waiting room chairs were weirdly uncomfortable. Either way would definitely recommend to anyone.

Service has NOT Been Bad? Personable, Courteous Help, Little Wait Time, Seems Rather Proficient to Get People in & Out Relatively Quickly & the Prices, Overall? Are Really NOT ALL "That" Bad, Considering inflation & General Living Expenses!?

Beyond my expectations at Milex. I've gone to a few mechanic shops around CR; over priced, unfriendly, and (admittedly being female not knowing much about car function) the staff would take advantage of that and charge me for things I did not ask for/not hear me when I explained something felt "wrong" with my car (one I had for years). Milex however explained the process and even educated me about the parts they needed to work on! I did not feel cheated or lost, received great mechanical and customer service care for a competitive price, and will definitely be recommending their service.Service: General repairs & maintenance

As I was moving across country in my Toyota Avalon, I noticed an exhaust leak that needed immediate fixing. We found Milex online and visited their Cedar Rapids location. Grant and Jeff took GREAT care of us. They were very kind, knowledgable, and specific about the work done to the vehicle. They had us out in an hour with a very reasonable price. I highly recommend their auto services!

Went in for a regular checkup around 30k miles with an oil change, ended up leaking oil, brought the car back in a couple days later told me the oil pan gasket was the reason replaced it for free (their saving grace) when I got home noticed a slight shake while idling/stopped let the car cool down checked the oil, way overfilled and not clear fresh oil. I saw the good reviews and hoped I found somewhere I could go for a while to come. Now I m afraid to bring the car back there. Very nice people and customer service however I wonder about the people in the garage.

I have used milex twice to repiar my vehicle and I am so glad i found them. i moved from Dsm and had done business with a small family shop in the past. the personal touch and professionalism is great. they get things done when they say they will . it seems a lot of the bad reviews are from people who know nothing about the cost of maintaining a vehicle or people just trolling. Disregard any negative words you see from other people.. they're lying! FIVE STARSService: General repairs & maintenance

Took my car in to get my leaking oil fixed. After about $1300 I brought my car home and it continued to leak. Called in and they said to bring it back in. After 2 days they gave it back and said they cleaned up all the oil from under my car and couldn't find any leaking. I got my car back and it still leaks. Will be taking my business elsewhere.

Dave Wright Nissan this repair will cost you $18,725.06 Milex $192.00. Dave Wright said my engine was blown after they had failed to change my oil everytime I brought it in for service, and I had failed to confirm they had done it. Milex engine restoration and oil change, car runs great.

Terrible service. Feb 7th my boyfriend took the car in to get an oil change. He ended up replacing the tires while he was there also. Came back home and car was running okay for the first 2 days and then was smoking and smelt like burnt oil plus our tire sensor was still on and was never reset at the time of the tire change.Fast forward to Feb 17th he brought it back into Milex to fix the issue with the burning oil smell. They say the oil filter is faulty and there is an oil leak but on this particular model car it must be installed upside down or it will leak. Then Feb 18th I notice the check engine light is on. My dad, who owned the car previously and is an engineer who knows about this type of car came to look at it, and noticed a cut wire and oil spilled all over the engine. The owners gave me and my boyfriend attitude when I was trying to tell him the issue. Super unprofessional and the quality of the service is zero. Don t go here.Services: Tires, Oil change

New to Iowa and didn't know a mechanic and though I have never brought my car to a facility that wasn't a Volvo dealer since new, I didn't know the local dealer either. Called around to some shops to get brakes done and most every shop I called, I could practically hear their eyes light up when I said Volvo lol. Mienekee was offering a 50% off sale and i was going to use them for front and rear pads and rotors but, something was telling me not to. Called Milex after getting a great referral and I realized immediately I was dealing with professionals. They advised me to let them see the car to provide an accurate estimate. So happy I did that because they informed me of the life span remaining on the rear and advised to replace the front pads and rotors only. As for price, for the front, they were actually less expensive than the other shop, even with the 50%off sale. I was there first thing and not only was the job completed in an hour, the car was given back clean and fixed correctly and professionally. So happy I found a great shop when I need repairs and a professional crew that I won't have to wonder about the quality of their work. Loook no further if you need work performed. You won't be disappointed.

I own an older car that overheated within a couple of blocks of Milex. They got me in immediately, diagnosed and replaced the water pump tension pulley and belt within an hour. Dropped my family off at a local resturant while we waited. They are honest, competent, and friendly. Give them a chance, you won't be disappointed. They are bringing back honesty, competence and good service to the auto repair business. Thanks Milex

Very nice welcoming staff. They are very honest and upfront and I truly appreciate it. I will be consistently going there.I like how they have a free performance check and you get about $3 off every oil change after getting your first one with them
