A couple weeks ago I was blown away at the price to get my breaks done at the place I was loyal to for almost 15 years. They also stopped doing free diagnosis and tried to play it off like they never were free before.Anyway, I thought I'd just get a quote from this place. Not only did they charge less, but they have free diagnosis! They're very nice and easy to understand, they don't talk to you like you're an idiot, they offer a ride to and from you're home for free if you need to leave the vehicle there for a while.Today I called about some bad sounds coming from my car and even though they only had 1 technician in they still were able to get my car fixed!They're the only ones I've ever been able to just explain my issue, drop off my car and get the job done all on the same day! They go out of their way to get the parts needed to get the job done ASAP.Needless to say. I will be a returning customer. Thanks guys!

This place is great! I worked with Kory Toms and had a great experience they showed me parts that needed replacing, did not try to upsell me I felt Kory was an honest guy, something very important for single women. This is definitely my go to place in the future!

I had a vehicle repair done at a shop(Brakes Plus) in Cedar Rapids Iowa, they replaced a drivers rear axle seal and 4 wheel studs, when they did this I asked them to check over all the other components they had to remove to replace the seal, when they did they stated all the components were in good shape and working order and nothing else needed to be replaced. Once the repair was complete they explained to me that their warranty period was 12 months or 12,000 miles. At the time of the repair the vehicle had 192,628 miles. The following day my vehicle suffered a catastrophic failure on the assembly that they had worked on and caused excessive damages to the rest of the components and the entire rear axle, at the time of the catastrophic failure the vehicle has 193,345 miles on it. I contacted the company and asked how they wanted to handle the warranty claim process and they asked me to have the vehicle towed to another shop to confirm or deny that the work they conducted to the vehicle was faulty so I had that done and the shop I had it towed to confirmed that the work they conducted had failed. After 6 days the company that did the work originally called me and said that they were not going to honor their parts and labor warranty and that I had to fix the vehicle myself.This has cost me nearly $4,000 just in repairs.

Honest, quality mechanics seem hard to find. I don't know if that's a result of "a few bad apples" and us non-mechanics overgeneralizing, or that mechanics truly are subpar, dishonest people. I'm assuming it's at least a bit of both-- just as it is with all professions. That said, to be clear: no one asked me to write this review, I am receiving nothing for this review, and I do not have any personal ties to anyone at this establishment. I am merely sharing my experience in hopes of helping others access what has thus far been nothing short of honest, quality work.I've been having the same issue with my vehicle for over a year and not a single shop among the five I took it to in Denver, CO or the three others I've taken it to since I moved back to Cedar Rapids could figure it out. This Tuffy figured it out immediately. They also had the solution with an accompanying quote to fix it ready for me just as quickly. There was a minor "hiccup" throughout the day they had it (again, as can happen in all industries within any profession) and their solution to the issue was above and beyond fair and reasonable.I have only had my vehicle back for a few hours and will update this review if and when necessary. So long as that isn't ever necessary, I will absolutely be making this my regular mechanic and strongly encouraging everyone I know to do the same. Huge thanks to Kory for being such a kind, knowledgeable, professional, and attentive manager. When I went in to pick up my vehicle, the staff gave me all the same courtesies.Unmatched service and quality all around.

I have these guys service all my vehicles i will never go anywhere else, they are very honest trustworthy people, Kory Tomes always goes above and beyond, keeping me informed on everything while they are servicing our vehicles. Making sure everything is fixed correctly and tries to help out customers in anyway he can. I would encourage everyone to please check them out as you will be amazed at the quality of the work they do. I have had bad experiences at other places in previous years before knowing about brakes plus and I am very particular on where i have my vehicles serviced. I was very impressed the first time i came here when they serviced my impala, i will be a customer for life.

Had the staff check my work van for issues in the back and they found a bad shock, gave me a price on replacing both and had it done in less than an hour.I would give 10 stars, but they only offer 5. Lol

Exactly what you want in your auto shop. Honesty, hard work, friendly, and communicative. They checked out ny car and showed me in person what was wrong and why. They told me what is most important and what I could potentially ignore if I didn t have the funds yet. Highly recommend.

Came in concerned about brakes, they personally took me to my car to show me what was going on, which I very much appreciated! They explained everything well, and price everything very well, they even went beyond that and gave us better pricing that fit our budget! I highly recommend these guys. I ended up needing struts for the front and shocks for the whole car, and they called with updates as well!

Tuffy Auto Service on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids is top of the line. I went in for a lugnut replacement but John was so helpful and went out of his way to make sure I was able to have a fully functioning car . I brought in my car and thought I needed a battery replaced. They tested the battery and alternator, which came back good. They didn t charge me and sent me on my way. Good service!

I am a former employee of brakes Plus Southwest side cedar rapids they do not care about their employees they're very disrespectful they're liars and I do not recommend anybody going to the store or any brakes Plus location in cedar Rapids Iowa cuz they are the worst automotive company I've ever worked for they're a bunch of pot heads that smoke at work and treat anyone that isn't inside there little click of employees like garbage!

I had a great experience as usual with the team at Tuffy's (Brakes Plus). I took my car in to get lugnuts taken off, and Nate completed the process in a matter of minutes. My appt was scheduled late Friday evening with David, and he was the smiling face I was greeted with today. Thanks for the great service, guys!
