I went to the shop for changing the serpentine belt. Initially I got a quote for $90 from a repair shop for serpentine belt replacement. Based on the reviews, I gave the try with Automotive Service Evolution. I asked for quote and he said that he will give the estimate only after the inspection. Lately, he called me and said the work was completed and the total is $142.37, when I was expecting for the estimation. Then, picked up the vehicle and found that a low quality (GATES belt $20 in Amazon) is used and he billed the same for $90. Very much disappointed for the price as well as the low quality parts they used. BEWARE!

I ve been to a few places in Cedar Rapids, but this is the best. They re knowledgeable, honest and fairly priced. One of the two owners will work on your vehicle and speak with you about it. Had a front tire getting ready to blow out on my truck. It was due to a tire defect. Stopped by to see if they could get me switched to my old tires that I still had, and since my front was in such bad shape they fit me into their already booked schedule. Everything since has been smooth driving. Price was beyond fair, and the service was exceptional. Will definitely be going back to them for work I need in the future.

Price "drives" me away from the dealerships. Perfection keeps me returning to folks who do it right, price right and get 'er done. Last oil change these guys continue to impress when they found a nest by the gas tank! giddy up!!

This Auto Repair shop is extremely upfront and honest with you. If you purchase parts , they will install them for you, thus savings to you. However , the installation does not come with a warrantee.

Top notch. Had valve cover gaskets done on a Subaru. The guys were friendly, knowledgeable, honest, did solid work, right on time and accurate estimates. Let me know of a couple other leaks (that I could fix without a lift) and sent me on my way. Gaskets have held as expected. Total around $350 for both. Good experience, good shop.

Jeff & Shige are so easy to work with. They're calm and patient on the phone and in person. They're willing to be honest with what my car really does need and what it doesn't, without using pressure or fear to get me to spend more money. Jeff even told me what he would do in my situation if it were his car, which I really appreciated. When I have a concern with my car, they're willing to take the time to inspect it in-depth and fully assess the issue so that there are no extra surprise repairs down the road. My car's headlight burned out and replacing the bulb didn't help. Called ASE and was able to bring it in the next morning. Was fixed by noon; the connector needed to be replaced. Reasonable price.

When possible, I will wait until ASE has an opening to get my car in because they are so trustworthy and good at what they do. They are the best: knowledgeable, friendly, and very reasonably priced. They are an excellent small business here in CR.

Couldn t ask for more from a shop. Professional, knowledgeable, customer-focused, fast and friendly. I can t think of a service provider I d more highly recommend. I wish they sold vehicles too.

* UPDATE * We moved away from the state for 2 years and came back. My wife decided to give them another try. They got us in and put on a new serpentine belt the same day. This was a night and day experience from our last. This was more like the experience we had come to know before the one below. Changing my rating from 1 star to 4. Hoping we can continue to work with them with clear communication and standing by their word.We had an amazing experience to start with, but today is the last straw. We took our van in to get the "electric door" fixed. Clear communication by us all around. They fixed the rollers for $175. Not the electric door. We called to make sure maybe they just forgot, or it was a mistake; he said that we didn't ask to fix the electric door. Whatever, lets get it back in fixed, I said to my wife. I am on the phone with my wife, and we CONFIRM an appointment for today, Tuesday. Drop off the vehicle, give the keys, and they say we are all set. We check back on 5 hours later. Guy says, "you didn't even have an appointment" !!!!!! Not only did they not tell us when we dropped it off, they never called to let us know. Told us that we could buy another part for over $200 and make another appointment. They miscommunicated, they didn't offer to correct anything, and just gave us - to date the worst experience we have had with a car service. Don't recommend it. We tried to work it out with the guy all he could say was, and I quote, "okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay" to everything we said. He was 100% at fault, clear communication throughout by us. We were willing to pay for the miscommunication that he failed at, by making an appointment to get it fixed "again," but then when we came for that appointment, they said "we never had one".Services: General repairs & maintenance, Electrical, Engine repair, Brakes, Brake service & repair, Battery

Excellent Shop. Has been my go to shop for the last few years. Outdid themselves today. Went in with a check engine light on. They called later in the day and told me it was fixed and good to go. Quick easy fix and there was NO CHARGE!Really? Where else do you get service like that? Jeff and Shige do great work. Obviously easy to recommend them. Easy to work with, thorough and affordable. Thanks guys!

Excellent service. Was able to schedule short time to get estimates that were competitively low. After the go ahead to do repairs they had it done in timely manner that day and called to let me know if was done. Great customer care, honest, competitive pricing and timely service.

Our 2011 Acadia engine light came on. Had white smoke coming from the exhaust. The day after Thanksgiving. Took it to Auto Zone and they told me I have bad fuel injectors. To replace the part would be $200 per injector. That's $1200 just in parts. Plus at least 3 hour job in labor. Looked around for shops. Came across ASE on shops near me. Called them on Monday and they said the can get me and look at the issue. Had the car towed there. They called me once they started looking at it. Ran test on the computer system and the results showed misfire on the injectors. Instead of jumping in right away and replacing parts. They did a fuel injection flush. Which fixed the problem. For them to take there time and diagnosis the problem. They save me Hundreds if not thousands of dollars. The bill came to only $105 dollars. I was Amazed!!!! Any other shop would've start replacing parts. Not ASE, I will be bringing all my vehicles to them. They are the most honest and affordable shop in town. I am blessed to have found them.

I have used ASE Automotive a couple times and have always been very happy with the price and the quality of work.Today I called and asked to have my battery terminal lugs replaced.They had the work completed in 90 minutes.The work that they did was once again exceptional and the price of $42.06 was awesome!I highly recommend them!!!

Very honest! I have a very old car that i dont want to put much into repairing. They have helped a lot with keeping costs down on repairs by saying what is necessary to fix and what is not. I really could go on and on about ASE. Fantastic service.*Update:. Still an excellent place to take your car.

Honest, fair, prompt, and above all, COMPETENT, this is the only place I have taken my cars, and I've done so for over a decade. I have had my car towed 30 miles past other shops to get it here, and I have PAID them to work on my car instead of enduring nonsense at the dealership while under warranty. Sound crazy, right? Nope. Search no more. These guys are the best. You will forget what it is like to be fed a line, or wonder if they know what they are talking about. They do. This is one of the VERY few businesses I deal with where I have full faith and zero doubt in the quality of the service I receive. A+

If you're looking for car repairs go here!! I had an awful rattle coming from under my car and was recommended this place for their service. Was not disappointed! I made an appointment and dropped my car off in the morning. By noon they had it fixed and ready. They said it was a simple fix and even didn't want to charge me for their services. Unbelieveable! The world needs more car shops like this.

Very knowledgeable mechanics with great attitudes. They never overcharge or under perform. Oil changes are less than half what the quick lube shops charge and you get a vehicle inspection by someone who knows what they are doing!

I absolutely refuse to bring my vehicles anywhere but here! I met these guys while looking for a vehicle back in 2007 as I had just moved to Iowa from Florida. I was test driving a car to purchase and at a certain speed it made a really wicked noise. I called my cousin and explained the noise and he told me what it could possibly be but to take it to a mechanic. I came across Automotive Service and met Shige and explained what was happening. He gave me the same possibility as my cousin and told me I should probably look for a different car. When I went back to the dealership and told the guy what was going on he became upset and told me NOTHING was wrong with the car. Needless to say I walked away upset at the experience but grateful for Shige. Recently I purchased a Van from Pat McGrath in Hiawatha and there were problems in less then a month with the vehicle. Of course they stated they could fix the problem and wanted me to pay for it, but after haggling with them they decided to absorb the charges and fix the problem. The second time I had problems with the vehicle I tried to give McGrath the benefit of the doubt so I called them about problems with the vehicle again, this time it was 3 months from the purchase date, and once again they wanted to charge me. I told them I would take it to my mechanic and they stated that more than likely they would be cheaper then my mechanic. I told them I seriously doubted it. I decided that if I had to spend money to fix it I would rather spend my money at a mechanic that actually cares about their customers and is not out to get rich quick. Of course Jeff and Shige were no where as expensive as McGrath. Jeff and Shige are wonderful mechanics and worth the loyalty to them. When their are problems with our vehicle I don't worry and stress about taking it to be fixed because I trust these two. There are no words to express how appreciative I am of their reasonableness and honesty! .. and of course I refer EVERYONE to them. We need more mechanics like this.

Called with a problem related to transfer case on a 4WD vehicle. Rather than taking my money and attempting work that wasn't their specialty, they kindly referred me to another shop that they trusted. This shows great integrity and if I have the need for work not related to 4WD I'll give these guys first shot!

Stopped in because my car was making some strange noise. They came right out, looked at it on the spot, and fixed the problem so I could get back on the road. Didn t ask for anything or try to sell me anything. I ll be back every time i need work done. These are good people!

I was on my way to work when my small little issue turned into a huge problem. I researched nearby mechanics in my area these guys seem to have a lot of great reviews. I called them up. My vehicle srarted and performed way better than when I purchased it. These guys are truly awesome. I am new to the area so i go off hearsay.

The power steering on my 1998 Toyota Tacoma went out.To make matters worse the hood release mechanism wasn t working either.I was seriously considering selling my Tacoma and getting a different vehicle because I knew the power steering would not be cheap to repair.I brought my truck to ASE Automotive a few days later.Later that afternoon Shige called me and told me that the return metal return line had been ruptured because it was too close to the pinion assembly. He went on to describe other issues relating to my power steering and told me that he was going to do what he could.A couple hours later Shige called me and told me that the work was done.I was relieved that the work was done and my power steering and hood latch worked but how much is this going to cost?I got off work and went to the ASE Automotive shop to pick up my truck.The cost was only $114.00!!!I was so relieved!Thank You so much Jeff Zieser and Shige Sugioka
