I cannot recommend this place enough. I showed up with no appointment and they were able to fit me in for a quote. Nick was amazing with communication from the second I sat in his chair, explaining the process and how long it would take to hear back from insurance and get parts. From the day I dropped my car off I received updates via text throughout the process, which was SUPER helpful. The work was done quick and my car looks as good as new! thanks to Nick and the crew at Gerber for taking great care of me and my car!

They replaced my truck bed cover with a new one after taking it to them for hail damage. Ok fine no problem. Months later I noticed some issues with the new cover and went in about a warrantee repair from the manufacturer of the cover. The male I spoke to, I assume the owner or manger, would not even admit to installing the new item on the truck. He accused me of somehow putting this cover on the truck and bringing it to him to replace it. He continued to tell me they only use one company to purchase truck covers from and that they never install the covers themselves. Ok, after being called a lier, I went to the company they say they did their purchases from. I spoke to the manager there who did in fact sell Gerber the same cover at the same time. He also said they don t do the installs for them just sell them to gerber. So, do not trust their warranties if their work is not up to your liking. They would not even help fix a warranty problem from the manufacturer.

What a fantastic experience. It was amazing, to me, how everyone at Gerber Collision & Glass went all out to help me with my situation. What a great crew. I really appreciate their helpfulness and friendliness. I don't think they treated just me special. I think they treat everyone just as special as they treated me. I highly recommend Gerber Collision & Glass!

Didn't do business there nor did Nick try and talk me into it. Recommended I be better off selling care. Took his time with a quick and honest estimate and gave me some good ideas as well.Thank you Nick for being a good and honest straight forward guy..Appreciated

Brought in my 28 year old convertable jaguar for some minor body work. My main concern was having it sit outside between stages of repair. They worked with me on that and did an excellent job. I have taken my vehicles to Smith Auto Body in Ankeny for years and when they got bought out by Gerber Collision I decided to give them a shot while I had some body work that needed done.I cannot recommend them enough, especially Nick. The dude did A+ work, taught me something about paint on cars and did it while provided excellent customer service.Thanks for everything Nick!!! We will definitely be back!Service: Painting

Don t know how anyone could give a bad review , they re amazing , I will be having two cars in with them and they ve been nothing but helpful. They ve answered everytime I ve called , even called me about my car because the insurance is taking way too long to total my vehicle out. Been nothing but great to me , if I could rate gerber 50 stars I would. Nick is a great dude. overall it s been great & I can t complain.

I bought some fender flares to hide some rust. As I was putting them on the rear where I needed to put the clips was of course rusted out. Go figure. So I called the Smith's body shop and by the next day I dropped it off and picked it up the same day. They bolted on with bolts that looked just like the fake ones. .. Not only was it done quick but very reasonable price.

They are the ABSOLUTE WORST AND HORRIBLE COMPANY to deal with. If i could rate and give them zero stars i would. The lady at the front desk should be fired immediately for the most horrendous customer service skills i have ever encountered. First off, we had dropped off our vehicle for service in early January 2023 which they said could take 10-14 days to fix so we had rented a car to have during this service time and a week later we get told that they haven't even begun to look at my car and to come pickup and to reschedule service for a future date because they were to busy. I told them that i had rented a car during this time and asked if i would be reimbursed for that since it wasnt my fault that they couldn't get me in for service and they declined to do that because they couldnt they said and so they rescheduled me for service two weeks later and just before i was about to drop my car off again they tell me they canceled my appointment again due to the shop being closed down for remodeling. So now i will be taking my car some place else for better service and it felt so good to let these horrible people have a piece of my mind before i do. They are the worst. They do not care about customers in any sense.

I have been to Smith's twice in the last three years. Both times they have been very courteous, honest, and helpful in answering my questions. My vehicle has looked great both times to the point where I can t even tell there was damage. Most recently, I worked with Nick and Adam. Both of them went above and beyond from the time I walked in the office to when I picked up my car. A+ customer service and quality, you don t find both very often. I ll definitely use them again.

Went in with an appraisel for my damaged vehicle. Nick looked at it and my car and said he would order parts tomorrow and it should take about a week to get those parts in. 8 business days later I hadn't heard from him. I called in and unfortunately he was out and they said they had no parts for my car and didn't even see a file for me. I was able to reach him the next business day and he did not remember who I was and didn't have my info in the system. Finally after explaining our conversation when I was in two weeks ago, he remembered my situation. He realized he had forgotten to do everything in regards to my repair. Mistakes happen, I understand that, but I was hoping for an apology but instead he blamed my appraisal company. Whom I had already spoken to and they had never received a phone call or email from Gerber. In fact if Nick had emailed them, he would have gotten an email back saying my appraiser was no longer with the company.I will not ever be doing any business here due to the lack of honesty and professionalism. Nick, if you want to forward those emails you supposedly sent to my email, I'll take this review down.

Smith's provided great service. I was able to walk in without an appointment and easily get an estimate for my car's body work. The work was scheduled fairly quickly, and done before promised and the work was done well. I hope I don't have to do business with them again (I don't want a wrecked car), but if it happens, I would definitely take my vehicle to them.Service: Body & Trim

Work was done ok. But they "washed" the car and didn't rinse it well and left water marks on the carbon spoiler that took 3hrs to buff out.

WOW! I called in the morning to see if I can set up a time for an estimate. A very friendly individual on the phone just told me to stop in, they will drop what they are doing and it will take 5 minutes to take a look at the vehicle.We had some rust that splashed on top of our vehicle and it would not come out. The GM walked out with me to look at it, ran back inside and grabbed some chemicals and got it all out in minutes.It is hard to find good service these days but these guys went above and beyond today 110%. I will be going back for other services for sure.Service: Painting

I had some idiot do a hit and run during Summer Fest last weekend. I didn t even notice the damage to my car until a couple of days later. I was stressed and angry because my car had a nice size dent on the front right side bumper along with several noticeable scratch marks. I called around to get estimates and everywhere else didn t do estimates on what I needed or were way out of my price range. Smiths Collision and Paint had me come in the same day that I called and was able to see me right away. They gave me different options on what they could do to help me and I was overall impressed with their knowledge on car repair and how they were able to give me options since they knew my situation. They ended up buffing out the horrendous scratches on my car and getting the dent out. My car looks as good as new and I didn t break the bank going through them! The staff was very personable and friendly but Nick is who I spoke with the most and he was awesome. If I ever find myself in a bind like this again I will definitely be returning here and will be recommending!

I went in there today with a scratch caused by the lovely Iowa wind sending another car door banging into mine. I was dreading having to wait ages and get charged a ton.I had to wait about 30 seconds before someone came to help me. In another 30 seconds they were fixing it. They were so awesome. I won t hesitate to go there again next time I have a car issue. Highly recommended.

Tried to stop in to get a estimate on our vehicle, the guy we talked with was locking the doors 20 minutes before there posted closing time whining he didn t get to take a lunch today. he said he would give me a verbal estimate when I pointed other damage he was very rude us to me. I Would not recommend this place to anyone!!!

I do not have a great deal of experience with body shops, but I was very happy with the service, quality of work, and expense. I had been running around with a dent in the front bumper of my civic for quite a while and they replaced and color-matched the replacement piece. While doing the work they also added some aftermarket fog lights which I had always wanted. Two years later the work still looks great and I will definitely go back to them should I need more body work in the future.

My first experience with Smith Body & Paint was actually when the owner Gary, stopped at a front end collision I was in that was fairly dangerous both vehicles were blocking a major 4 way intersection on a highway in Ankeny. From that moment forward Gary has taken care of me. He helped me get a tow that night, and helped me get fair value for my salvage. A few weeks later I had an issue with my new vehicle and he diagnosed, and fixed the problem and was 100% honest about what my options were and costs. This is a great family business and I would recommend them for any Auto job you need period. Great business.

Very friendly service. I wasn t able to get my car to the shop at the scheduled time, but they were able to to fit it in the weekend. I love the work they did on my car and I will be back if I ever need anything working on again!

Nick was very thorough and walked me through the different steps and options of service. It wasn t just an estimate. It was like he was taking care of a lifelong friend. They did an awesome job. So good that I brought another vehicle back.

I had my car detailed. They did a really great job on the carpets. No more stains at all. They all look brand new! They went above and beyond in two areas: They shampooed my store bought mats that I usually keep on top of the factory floor mats (that was a bonus). They also removed a black spot on my passenger door for me. (It was paint from another car when that other driver hit his door into mine). They washed the outside of my minivan and the wheels. It looks great. I will be honest, there were spots on the inside that were missed and I'll have to touch those spots up, but that's no big deal compared to having my carpets look new again :)

Don't believe what the lady says who answers the phone!! The time-line she gives and leads you to believe are totally false!! Then when you call and talk with someone else "oh it could take several weeks before you get your car back mam sorry but that's just the way it is." Also don't use the online appointment because it doesn't mean that you really have an appointment so not sure what it's purpose is. They weren't interested in trying to fix the issue to save my business!! Excuse after Excuse is all we got!! Save yourself the time and headache and don't go here you will be sorry!! Also, when I went to take my car to a different collision center they were all just sitting around doing nothing and my car was in the same place as when it was taken there!!! Just as rude and unprofessional as on the phone too!!!!

Took in a vintage motorcycle tank on Monday, that had 4 soft dents on one side. This tank would be impossible to replace. I had considered shipping it off to California for repair, but I've known the guys at Smith`s for around 30 years. Got the tank back today from Nick, and it was the most perfect job I could have imagined. About a month ago they repaired my truck tailgate, and Gary bent over backwards to do a great job. Who would have known we had this kind of talent for vintage motorcycle repair right here in Ankeny. Thanks again guys.

Very personable. Answered every question I had, helped with a very precarious situation I am in with my car and where I purchased it. Was very knowledgeable. Highly recommended if you need an estimate or any body work done on your vehicle.
