Walked in for a four tire estimate. Impressed with Mark and Sean as they were pleasant, professional. Answered my questions. Would have had my vehicle same day but weather had other plans. They kept my vehicle in the shop over night which was appreciated. Called when completed and price spot on with estimate. No surprises. Will definitely be using Car-X with any future services.

We had car trouble 4 hours from home and these guys worked us in on a very busy Friday and checked some things for us. They even took the time to speak on the phone to our mechanic back home to help him know where to start when we got back.Kind, professional, honest, and affordable. I don t know what else you would need in a mechanic shop than that. Thank you CarX!!

Car-X is the last place on earth I would take my vehicle. Even if they were the last place on earth, I'd become a mechanic myself before I took it there. I had my car fixed there around a month ago. They said it was the high-pressure fuel pump. I paid them around $1,000 to fix it. A month later, my car breaks again. I took it to Woody's, the most reputable place in Ankeny. I should have taken it there to start like I usually do. Woody's said it was the high-pressure fuel pump. I took it back to Car-X to have them re-fix it for free since they clearly didn't do it right the first time. Of course free doesn't get them money so they tried to tell me there was a bigger issue and that they would have to take a whole bunch of the car apart to find out what it was. In other words, they wanted to charge me a stupid amount of money for labor. If you need your car fixed, take it to Woody's! DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, take it to Car-X. They used to be decent but not anymore.

From management to office staff to the mechanics, all are willing to go the extra mile in explaining things thoroughly and being patient with answering questions for customers. A little extra customer service goes a long ways! This location has and will continue to have our business.

I had sudden car issues and was thankful to get in quickly for an appointment. My car ended up dying on me, so I had it towed to their location. Mark did an assessment, found out what was wrong, and had my car repaired and back to me in less than a day. Misleading about service costs. Manager tried to blame us for taking money away from the employees. Car wasn't put back together properly and I'm only now finding out years later after the damage is already done.

8/20/22- I was at the Carx in South Ankeny at approximately 9:50 a.m. or so and asked for a brake flush and check the brake pads since my wife will be traveling for a week. �They pulled the car in approximately 10:05 a.m.. �The cost for the flush was 128.24 and they complete it in approximately 20 minutes that included checking the brake pads. �The brake checks came back at 10mm (See attached Doc) for all the pads which indicate they are practically new for a vehicle that have not has any brake pads change with 65,000 miles. � These same pads was checked last year when I had a coolant flush and they were approximately 4-5 mm. �This made me question about the brake flush so I checked the reservoir and there was definitely a separation of fluid. �The fluid above the minimal line was clear while below the minimal line was dark yellow (see picture). �I took a picture of reservoir and went back to Carx and asked the manager how was it possible that the brake pads was stills 10 mm and a clear separation of fluid of dark color below the minimal line and clear above. �He gave some answers that I felt did not support my observation or conclusion since I had brake fluid flush in other vehicles in the past. The color of the fluid of those flushes was consistence unlike this flush and the pads at 10 mm at 65,000 miles is somewhat suspicious.� I looked forward to the explanation to this post and have reached out to the corporate office. Hopefully, I will get an explanation before I contemplate on filing with the BBB. Updates: I was able to reach CarX's parent company (Monro) and they did refund the monies.Services: Brakes, Brake service & repair

I am thoroughly impressed with this place! I had no choice but to come in here last minute due to my work schedule (5:30pm.) My front brakes were shot and needed to be replaced (along with the rotors.) Instead of turning me away, one of the technicians and one of the mechanics stayed to make sure that it was done!! Also, Lindsey was fantastic in explaining everything in a thorough manner.Very professional and very efficient!! I will definitely be back! Thanks, Car-X!

I used to take my vehicle here for the past few years and never had an issue. I made an appoint for 1pm and dropped off the vehicle at 12:30pm. At 3:30pm I decided to call to see if the vehicle was ready. They stated they haven't started yet and would be finished before they close. At 6:30pm I called again and still haven't started on the vehicle. Decided to talk to the manger and short story of the long story was he was short handed starting at 10:30am and new he wouldn't be able to get to the vehicle and yet nothing was said when I dropped of the vehicle and when I called at 3:30pm. When I arrived home, I reviewed my dash cam and saw my vehicle was moved in to the shop twice but still did not work on the vehicle.

It s time to finally cut ties with Carx after a turbulent 3 year run. This has included a lot of high talk with a lot of not so good service and some occasionally great work and service. But the final straw has come with the most recent oil change. I had received a coupon in the mail for a $24 full oil change and ended up paying close to $50. Apparently now they are charging labor to install an oil filter, and are charging to dispose of the old oil and oil filter.We had a good run, but I m not going back.Service: Oil change

Had a flat front tire that needed replaced and got the other front tire replaced as well as an alignment fix. Was told that my two back tires were in good shape and would not needed to be changed until next fall. The alignment was not 100% fixed either, as my car still drives slightly to the right. Not even a week later I got a flat tire on my back tire driving down the interstate. Very upset that I was told my tires were good. Do not recommend.

Could not recommend this place enough!! While out of town, I had an emergency with my tire 10 minutes before they closed and they were able to get me in me and put on a new tire. Best customer service I've ever experienced. Thanks again!

Engine light came on while here out of town for work. Stopped here and the service was fast, the wait area entertaining, clean, and comfortable. Service techs and staff very professional, honest, and ethical. They only cared about my safety driving back home. Wish I had one of these by me.

Amazing customer service and great communication from Chad today about an oil change, tire rotation, and alignment check on my car. Being a woman in an auto shop can sometimes feel intimidating because there s so many opportunities to get screwed over due to lack of information or general car know-how when they didn t have the oil filter I needed, they let me know; when we rescheduled, they offered a sizable discount for my time; when I was late to the rescheduled appointment, they worked with me to make sure things could still get done.Thank you for making me feel like a valued customer and keeping the line of communication clear and open. I really appreciate the team at the Ankeny Car-X location and I ll definitely be back for all of my future tire and auto shop needs.

Great customer service. Very knowledgeable and just focused on getting the job done right.Brought it in to discover my engine needed fully rebuilt due to an oil leakage that led to the engine seizing permanently. They were very professional and up-front about my options and even went out of their way to find a better rebuilt engine with less miles and more power. When it turned out another issue was discovered that prevented moving forward, they presented me with the options again and ended up not charging me anything, despite having a mechanic that spent half a day to disassemble the old engine block. Definitely bringing my next car here!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Bought a new van recently and the alignment was off. Came in for a repair and they were able not only fix that, but walk me through the process and offer recommendations. Very helpful crew, explained everything thoroughly, and they were able to get our van taken care of same day. Inside was very nice, drinks and entertainment available while I waited. I needed a last minute part replacement and wheel alignment and the guys got me in day of to accommodate a roadtrip I had coming up! Today (and every time I've come in), the guys have been so helpful and patient in explaining the issues my car has had and presenting my options to fix them. I've now had multiple sets of tires installed on multiple vehicles and stand by my review of them being solid. They are a Tire-Rack installer and I always go through them.Had a new set of tires put on here and an alignment done for them. The staff are very friendly and respectful. They were not pushy towards me and were open about what I should think about getting done in the future, why and how much it would cost.They had some trouble with my alignment and were honest about the issues (not their fault, just my car being a pain) and told me when I could come back and finish it.Over all very good, no major issues.

Polite, fast, and accommodating for the wait. I had asked for an alignment for high speed vibrations and they found the issue was a much cheaper tire balance. Money saved, and they ve agreed to fix if I m not satisfied. Great first experience at CarX!

Went there for a tire change after having to put on a perfectly GOOD spare a week prior as well as an alignment fix. Dude comes back in saying I NEED something else of some sort, almost arguing with me about it even though I did not ask for it. Not even two months after getting my tire changed there my tire popped on THE INTERSTATE at night.I came back to my abandoned car the next change to put on my spare, and my spare HAD A HOLE IN IT. My SPARE had to have been messed with as it was FINE when I took it in the first place. Not the cheapest place in town, but I sincerely believe you get what you pay for. Stopped in after work before my scheduled time (oops!) and they still got me in very quickly. On a previous visit Car-x replaced my battery and a battery terminal. Apparently the terminal part they replaced was defective and it caused my truck not to start several months later. I had it towed into the dealer where they replaced the battery terminal with a NOS part. When I came into Car-x for an oil change and tire rotation I made the service manager aware of the defective part they installed. He made it right by comping my service bill for that day and giving me coupons for three additional oil changes. This was all handled in a friendly and professional manner.Services: Tires, Oil change

The tech for the tire alignment does not know what he is talking about. Took my truck in to have them align it after I put new bottom a frame arms on and they said that they would not touch it so don't take your vehicle to them.

This used to be a pretty decent repair shop, but unfortunately times have changed. They've done a lot of work on my family's vehicles over the years but will no longer get my business, as I do not trust them at all. While I have purchased multiple sets of tires there in the past, I was unwilling to do so after going in and talking to them today. They have decided that they will not install a set of tires without an alignment on the vehicle. I understand the necessity for an alignment, and I understand that they probably see many tires come back with treadwear claims due to poor alignment or loose front end parts. That's something that they need to mitigate separately, rather than tacking on an additional $130 to a purchase of four tires when this particular vehicle was recently aligned elsewhere. The worst part of it is that the rep told me that changing tires will change my alignment. There are many things that can affect your alignment, and I suppose that if you had a severely worn tire on one side, it may affect things. But to say overall that you will not install tires without charging an extra $129 for an alignment because changing tires affects your vehicles geometry, is either straight dishonest, or indicative of extremely poor training and lack of knowledge.The tires I picked out for a premium michelin, and they were already priced $15 a tire higher than their competitors, but it was convenient. Less than $600 worth of tires ended up at close to $1,000 after they added on the installation, alignment, and other fees.This felt like a money grab to me, and I will no longer do business with this company.
