I wish I could rate then less than 0 stars. Day 1 over the phone we spoke to some kid that wasn t trained to speak to customer, eventually asked for a manager due to his lack of knowledge and concern. Manager Brandon took the phone and supposedly found the correct parts we needed and ordered them for us to pick up in 3 days. After picking them up we realized it s not the correct parts. We went back later the same day to find the correct parts we needed, and to refund our first purchase but in person for both. After purchasing what they told us were the correct parts, we returned home and realized yet again, was not correct. We went directly back the next day for refund #2, before the parts had even arrived at the store. Manager Brandon helped us in store and showed us the difference in the two parts he had ordered on his computer, and placed an order for the correct Front wheel drive parts. The next day we go back to pick up the parts and realize, yet again, the parts are wrong. We asked Brandon multiple times the day before for front wheel specific parts and he ordered rear wheel. We go back the next day to make return #3. After dealing with all of this we weren t going to make another purchase and wanted to be done. At 7:45am we tried to return x2 parts at $149 each. After five minutes of miscommunication with Rodney, we were told that we cannot get full refund to the card because we had done a refund with our purchase the day before. We could only get 120$ back on the card and had to take the rest of the 30$ in cash, but because it was so early in the day he didn t have enough cash to pay for both refunds. That results in us needing to come back the next day for the final payout even though both parts were fully refunded, they just couldn t provide enough cash the morning before. Finally, we pick up an envelope with what should be 30$ in cash, and it is a full 150$ refund for one of the parts from the day before. We SPECIFICALLY asked Rodney before we left that morning, so tomorrow we will come back and pick up 30$ which is the remainder of the refund, even though both parts have been refunding via card, correct? And he said absolutely. Not one single person at Ames O rielly seems to know what they are talking about. Katherine is the ONLY person in that store who is educated and concerned enough to give me any knowledge on my situation. Unfortunately I spoke to her prior to this whole situation but whoever is running the show there needs to hand it off to someone else- I would recommend Katherine. Either ask for her (and only her) assistance or take any and all your business somewhere else and save yourself money and a week of your life.

Easy peasy! New wipers and fluids. They installed them. No hassle. They also offer Military / Veteran discounts if you have an ID.

Well I came into Ames Orielly Auto Parts to get a tired brake light for my car. Which Boone Orielly said that Ames had the part. I got this part which was $173+ and when I arrived back to my residence in Boone IA. I opened the box that wasn't sealed. Pulled the part out and saw it was a USED part nit a NEW part. I called them back and they didn't have a NEW PART in stocks. It would be Tuesday before they got one. So they check if any other stores had one and Ankeny had one. So I called Ankeny Oriellys to make sure it's a new part. So I went and got from Ankeny. So in my opinion that Ames Orielly wasted a good part of the morning/afternoon.

Needed a socket and breaker bar to remove a stubborn nut from my lawn tractor. Vance was awesome. He helped me find the correct size and drive size. These people are the reason why I always come here.

As a former employee I can say this was a great place to work and shop. They definitely go the extra mile to find things. Shout out to the store manager Rodney for always having a great attitude and making the day pleasant.

Great service. Near freezing temperature outside. I'd been working outside all afternoon, the last thing I wanted to deal with was changing my car battery in the cold as the evening chill was arriving. Purchase was quick and easy, Mark got the new battery installed along with a new connector to do the job right. Was more work than anticipated due to heavy corrosion on the one terminal, but he got us taken care of and we were on our way.

Came in with a few parts that I needed help finding for my car and where advanced auto parts comes and helps you find and autozone they ll come and help you find the part they sat and pointed and said the basic identifier number for the type of car to help identify the piece. They didn t come and help, they helped by looking up the right part but never left behind the register once and they had more then enough staff to and weren t even in the middle of a rush. So yeah gotta pass on coming back, been there before and the manager helped me and was great BEFORE but today whether managment or store gotta say not impressed and won t be back

Bought a battery and they told me they couldn't install 15 mins til close and to come back when they open the next day. I went back and they couldn't install because he was the only person there. I returned it and bought one for half the price at another location. Customer service is awful. You have 3 auto parts stores on the same block, choose one of the others.

It's a clean parts store. You go in get or order what you need and leave. Staff are friendly and won't beat around the bush if they don't know something. To many parts stores out there with employees that act like they know all, this isn't one of those. They will do there best to help you and won't try to up sale parts.

Very knowledgeable staff. Went here to get some parts to repair my snow blower. They had exactly what I needed. Also has a good tool for selecting the correct wiper blade for your car or truck. Has a great selection of wipers also.

Would love to give them no stars. I used to be a faithful customer, how here lately the customer service has been horrible. Arrogant employees who would rather refund product then do what they said they would. Save yourself the aggravation and drive down the street to advanced.

Sean is very intelligent on parts,and quick on his feet when given the vaguest description on what I need. Connor is always a pleasure to speak with and is also very helpful on the phone and off. I could name them all they are all great and deserve raises.

We experienced great customer service today especially from Chet. We needed a challenging headlight replaced and Chet offered to lend a hand. He went above and beyond to make sure we were all set to go. I highly recommend going to see Chet at O Reilly Auto Parts on South Duff.

Awesome service. The staff was very helpful. I just needed new wipers I was in and out in 19 minutes and they put the new wipers on for me. Exactly what I was wanting!

Not happy with Ames, location been going to same auto part store for years ... How ever a simple employee, mistake of not entering my information at check out correctly has managed to cost me 90.00$ because I bought alternator not realizing my original alternator was good... lost receipt....went to return and mysteriously they had no record of you purchasing my alternator. Next they will not give me even so much as a in-store credit or the alternator that I purchased from their store and never even screwed not even one nut or Bolt on the new alternator... store manager will not work with me even though I'm at on a yearly basis we at least spend a couple thousand a year at his store. Contacting O'Reilly Auto Parts central office.

I've been to many O'Reilly auto parts store but this one is different. I went in there to return a part I just got that same day and was refused a return because it had a little scratch on it anf it won't "wipe" off. I never had a problem with other O'Reilly auto parts stores so I just told them i'll head to a different one in which they did the return without a problem.

I have been using O'Reilly Auto Parts in Ames as long as there has been a store in Ames. (Before that, I sometimes went out of town to get parts at O'Reilly). I do as much repair for the family cars as I can. (At least 5 timing belt replacements, one camshaft replacement, lots of brakes, a radiator, etc.) The employees are always friendly and helpful. They are very cordial about honoring the low-price-guarantee. There is never a problem returning a part; not sure which is the correct one?--take both home and return what you don't need. Unless you REALLY have to own that specialized tool, see if O'Reilly has it in their tool lending collection--this is incredibly handing and money-saving. One time there was something wrong with the way a part had been assembled; they worked very hard to correct it. I had to write this review after reading some terrible reviews about OTHER O'Reilly stores that sound as though they are from another planet.

Came in to get a battery for my car. I didn't have a clue how to put it in and the assistant manager did it for me knowing I would not be able to leave with out such done. Great service!

Went to O'Rielly's a minute before closing to replace my roached out car battery and they were very friendly and understanding about the situation where my car would completely die every time it went into auto stop and I had to have a buddy follow me around to jumpstart my car every few blocks.
