My daughter (an ISU student not very familiar with the Ames area) brought her car to Mike's for a scraping sound. (I had searched the Internet, and, finding a number of good ratings about Mike's, I called them in advance.) She said that everyone was super nice and that the staff quickly found the problem (which, thankfully, turned out to be a minor issue), and they fixed her car for free! So nice of them!!! I had just come off a month of replacing my radiator, all four tires, a partially broken phone, and a refrigerator, so I was very grateful for no additional expenses -- and for this shop's honesty and helpfulness! Awesome!

Probably one of the last customers before they retire. Can't behind to say how helpful and accommodating Mike and his team were. Got my 2022 truck back on the road in two weeks and it looks amazing. Thanks yall have a good 1st summer off!

I've been going to these folks for years and have always been highly satisfied with their work. Their prices are fair and they stand behind their work. I've used their mechanic for over 30 years at Mike's and other places he worked and know his expertise beats the rest by miles. If you want a fair, honest business to work with, Mike's is the one. My 229,000 mile Honda Accord depends on these folks to stay running!

This shop did an amazing job of finding the problem with my car in just a couple of days after another shop couldn t find it for nearly three weeks! Good pricing and great communication. I ll be back!

In 30 years living at Ames, my family have used various auto shops in town. After my associate introduced this one to me, I have stayed with this one even since. After retiring from university and I returned town this week, I received service there again. Very friendly staff, honest owner, superior technicians and very good prices. I have been very happy with my experiences here! The staff is very friendly and my car issues have been solved quickly each time. Mike is always very communicative throughout the process and goes out of his way to make sure you're getting the best price for his attentive and thorough work.

I got fog lights installed here. They gave me an exact estimate over phone itself. Mike did some search and was able to track down the right parts, and ordered it for me. They were installed, on time, as communicated, and everything is working perfectly. Everything at reasonable price. I am impressed.Before this place, I tried to get those installed at several places and everywhere I was asked to either order them myself or was flatly declined. Including, Wilson Toyota of Ames, who after quoting an exorbitant price (I guess, which would have been OK) told me that they can't get the parts!Thank you for an awesome job.

I have used Mike s Shop for a decade now. I support local family business. Mark is a excellent mechanic. Mike is honest, does not gouge prices and stands behind his work. I had a front end collision in my Toyota Avalon 2001. The insurance estimated it a total loss. Mike's worked with me to find used parts with matching paint. In this way he didn't have to do any painting which is a huge savings. He found fantastic used parts and got the job done for 33 percent of what the insurance estimated the cost would be. He even vacuumed the car. Mike deals directly with all his customers. He showed me the parts he found before installing. I really appreciated being treated with total respect and caring. I will definitely come back if I ever need body work done.. Pretty sure I would bring my car here even from out of state. I even received a thank you letter after the transaction. Did I mention they guarantee their work for the lifetime of the car.?!?! WOW IM SO IMPRESSED

Every time I take a car to Mike's - no matter what the service - I always get a fair deal and excellent service. Mike is honest and open about the work being done and never overcharges. When I crashed my car, he gave me a good, reasonable estimate which helped a lot toward the newer car we purchased; of which he also services! Mike is definitely one of the good guys!

I have been going to Mike's for 6 years and they have always been nice, fair and honest about their services. I have an older car (1998) so it used to break a lot, but once they fixed all the issues it has been going for 4 years without a single problem (just oil changes). The prices are very reasonable and most importantly they tell me when the car does not need anything without changing me a dime!

If I ever need work like this done again, I will definitely go back to Mike's Body & Frame. The people are friendly, they thoroughly explained what needed to be done, and they were very fair and reasonable with their pricing.

Mike is the most kind Mechanic I have ever met in the US. He is an honest and do the job right from the first time and did not charge me that much compared to other repair shops. Thank you very much indeed Mike for your great service.

You literally cannot ask for a better mechanic. We have been going to Mike's for years now and have never been let down. They are always honest, even to the disadvantage of their own pocket book at times. They do it all at a high level. Maintenance and repair are done quickly and well. You will never go wrong taking your vehicle here!

I needed a truck towed so I gave Mike a call. I had no idea he was from Ames. I found out after. I called a lot of Des Moines towing companies and the earliest they could tow it was the next day. I called Mikes and the nice lady taking the call said Mike will be there in a few. Great communication and polite. Fantastic business!

I have been going there for 20 plus years, knew his father as well. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Excellent work (body and mechanical )all for a fare price. This is absolutely the best car service provider I have ever worked with. Took care of the insurance paper work for State Farm and did an excellent job. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I am not going to work with anyone else from now on.

I was in a minor fender bender and was looking around for quotes. I like to do business with locally owned businesses and even though they weren't recommended by anyone to me, I decided to give Mike's Body & Frame a chance. When I picked up my car, they had detailed it on the inside, had replaced a bulb they noticed was burned out, and had glued down a piece of molding on the side of my car that had lifted. I had asked another business how much they would charge to glue down the molding while my car was in for the other repair, and they quoted me $50! I hadn't even asked Mike about fixing the molding; I was just going to glue it down myself, but they saw it was starting to come up and fixed it... without charging me for it! When I need any other body & frame work, I'll be going back to Mike's!

After working with other body shops in the area that weren't willing to take on my small job, I was pleasantly surprised when I learned about Mike's Body & Frame in Ames. What a nice surprise! If ever I have a need I will come here first! 5 STARS!!! Great people! Thank you so much!!!!
