I hopped on the Ames Honda website and was paired with Tristan. The process start to finish was amazing and smooth. He answered all of our questions quickly and was exceptionally friendly and helpful. He wasn t pushy in the slightest and was able to meet all of our requests. He helped us with the price and our trade in. Great service all around!

Honda of Ames was absolutely incredible! I don't know that I've ever been treated better as a customer! To say these guys went above and beyond is barely scratching the surface! Cam made sure he understood what I was looking for, addressed every concern, spent massive amounts of time showing me every feature of my new car and setting up the electronic panel. He was everything you would ever hope to find in a car salesman, yet much more...honest and genuine and knowledgeable...just a great person! Honda of Ames, you'd better hold tight to Cam I think I'd have bought a car from him even if y'all didn't have the car I was looking for! Thank you:)

Nothing but problem after problem has come up since buying our first car back in August of 2023. It was our first experience buying a car, and I will surely never purchase a car from this dealership again, but also I will definitely make sure to be EXTRA cautious when buying a car from anyone because this experience has completely jaded me on the car buying process. Their sales tactics are borderline unethical. They sold us a service contract, and we immediately regretted it and tried to get that refunded. It took them nearly 6 months for us to finally get a refund, all of which we were still paying interest on the service contract. We also purchased an oil change contract, in which we were told it would work at "any" Honda dealership we went to. Turns out it's any "Lithia" dealership, but again this was not disclosed verbally and now the manager is denying saying this. I guess this is a reminder to read the fine print because these people will try to rip you off at every corner. I now understand why car dealerships get such a bad rep, and Lithia Honda of Ames is no different.

We had a wonderful experience buying a CRV from Wayde at Honda of Ames. Wayde answered all of our questions and gave us great options in our price range. He showed us the features each car had and took time to explore options outside of what we came in initially looking at. Aaron was great help with financing once we decided on the car we wanted. If you want an honest, knowledgeable, and kind car salesman to work with, look no further than Wayde Klingbeil!

Bought car in Oct 23, had it to the shop twice for leaking sunroof. Still leaks, they left grease prints all over interior. Nobody has reached out to assist us for getting this taking care of.

I called in to this place and needed some help with a used Odyssey I am purchasing that the CarFax said Honda of Ames serviced for most of its life. Alex took multiple calls and went out of his way to find some info for me that was a huge help to me and my family. I can't speak for their sales or service, but if they go out of their way knowing that there was nothing in it for them from the start then I feel they deserve a good review!

We purchased our 4th car from Honda of Ames (a 2024 Civic EXL hatchback) this weekend. Everyone we worked with did a fantastic job. Let s name some names so I can give well deserved accolades: Aaron Warren worked hard to get us the best APR available and the paperwork process was incredibly smooth. Jon Ballard was our contact person in the initial process and did very well in explaining his role and how he could help me with my trade. Then Cam Evans was the sales associate we worked with. He s very personable, professional, and most importantly, not pushy. This is the 4th Civic I have owned, going all the way back to 1984 when I purchased a new Civic S hatchback for 6800 bucks. No Civic has ever disappointed me and I am looking forward to many years of trouble free driving. Oh, I almost forgot: I ve used the service department for several years and they also have always provided top notch service.

If I could give 0 stars, I would.Bought a low-milage 2012 Subaru Forester in December 2022 and less than a year later in October of 2023 the entire engine needs to be rebuilt/replaced because of two worn cylinders and a short block replacement. Along with several other issues that arose and come, to a whopping $14,000 bill. Basically, they sold me a totaled vehicle as far as I'm concerned. These are not things that just happen over a 10-month period.When we purchased the car I was told they "look over everything" to make sure it's in good condition to resell. After the phone call I just had, I learned that is not the case. All they do is test drive and fix any codes present.I take responsibility in the fact that we should have purchased the warranty they tack on for an extra couple grand, but in my defense, I was reassured that these cars are thoroughly checked over. Which now we know they are not.Buy a used car here at your own risk. I am now left with a hefty loan and a totaled car. Honda of Ames said they will not do anything to make it right.

The salesman, Tristan, was a nice person. Friendly, helpful. Not super knowledgeable about cars in general. I came in with a very tight budget, to get the cheapest loan possible for a small foreign car built for longevity. I said exactly what I wanted in terms of what was included in the loan but, after waiting for FOUR HOURS to speak to the finance manager (I forget his name - Steve?) he tried to slip in the warranty as well, which was an extra 2K. It wasn't until I stopped him before signing the title and asked what my loan terms were first that he even went over any details. He didn't try to find the best finance offer either - just the first one. So while it is a step toward improving my credit so that I can refinance and get a better interest - an APR of 25% is whack. If I had had any more time to spare, and hadn't been so desperate for a vehicle, I might have pressed to try to find a better interest rate with another lender. But we all know that there is some sort of tradeoff there between the lender and the dealership when they can accept as high of an interest rate as possible.Finally, after driving the vehicle for ONE DAY I noticed a few mechanically unsound things that had escaped me on my first inspection and my test drive. (None of which would have been covered by a warranty on a used car anyway).All in all, don't go there unless you have the budget, time, and knowledge to put up a good fight to get what you want/deserve because they will absolutely slip in some BS and run you around wherever they can - sometimes blatantly, sometimes surreptitiously.

I really wanted to give this place a better rating, I loved my salesman Scott but I had a terrible experience with this dealership which has left me losing hours of life. When I first came to the dealer the original salesman who I made an appointment with completely ignored me and my texts and put a bad taste in my mouth. Scott then helped make that a lot better, found me a car and I was ready to make a deal. Spent 5-6 hours there making a deal, I agreed to asking price just asked that it was certified and got a free oil change. I think that s pretty standard at dealerships to offer an oil change when you pay asking price. I was getting ready to finalize and the hood fell on the bar holding it up and put a dent right in the hood. The sales manager then came out and admitted it will never be the same but he s not taking any money off. Idk how you dent a car right in front of a customer and go yeah I m not taking any money off and ask if I still want to buy it. They also did not inform me that the car had been in an accident. My salesman was unaware as well but the manager knew and decided to withhold this information. Although I want to make a deal because I enjoyed scott, I don t think this dealership will ever get my business. The sales manager also said someone else will over look it referring to the dent they were going to fix and that was his excuse for not dropping price. I didn t think I d have to say this but make sure you inspect your cars here before you buy, and people wonder why car dealerships get bad reputations.

I came to Ames Honda to "just see what was available " Had not planned on buying... This is the 2nd time I've "stopped by" and left with a new car. Enjoyed Wayde's expertise and I got a great car.

My wife and I bought a Honda Pilot at Honda of Ames back in 2003 the first model year. Our kids practically grew up in the car driving around the country on vacations and work trips; we have simply loved that car. While we lived in the Ames Iowa area we got all our service done at Honda of Ames and they were marvelous. Work and life took us far from Ames 17 years ago, but I still remember them fondly. Recently I had reason to contact them again.Our youngest son has learned to drive and we're giving him the Honda Pilot which still runs very well and has about 150,000 miles on it. When I finally had to take off the Ohio license plates that had been on for 17 years, I got the plates off all right but the Honda of Ames license plate frame broke. I was devastated as I knew that my youngest son who was born in Ames would love to have had that plate holder, so I called up Honda of Ames, explaining what had happened, and they sent two of them absolutely free; they were so nice and I can't recommend these people more. Thank you, Honda of Ames!

I gave Scott the salesman an awesome 5 however did not appreciate not completing the buying process . It got passed off and I was not sure what the process for signing up for the was for getting my billing process was. Also there are many people that still like paperwork and not just have an envelope with a disk handed off to you from someone you don t know!

Love my new Honda and am looking forward to a long and positive relationship with Honda of Ames.Everyone at the dealership, especially Cam, represented the dealership in a professional manner with a focus on follow up care.There is huge learning curve for me when it comes to the technology, but I definitely feel comfortable returning to get answers and help.My new CR-V Hybrid is quite is everything as promised with one exception -- no built in garage door opener. Otherwise -- perfection.
