They have a surprising amount of items on hand. Several times I thought i would need to have something shipped in only to find it on thier shelf. Always worth a call

Fantastic service, these guys are experts! Derek built a critical specialty fitting that I couldn't find anywhere. I'd give more than 5 starts if I could. These guys saved my week.Thanks!

They have every nut and bolt you can imagine! One thing a new customer should know is it's an old school shopping experience, come in, wait your turn, and tell the staff member what you want (I usually hand them a broken bolt and say 1 of these) and they will disappear then reappear with what ya ask for, no searching!

I know very little about fittings dimensions and types. I came in with my parts, described what I was trying to do, and they were able to find parts to solve my problem within 10 minutes. At the cash register, they realized a way they could make it work with fewer parts, and dropped the price accordingly. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff!

This place seems to have an assortment of hard to find tools and replacement parts for machinery. There are no prices posted on any of the products so that is an inconvenient aspect of the visit. Prices seem to be on the higher end but they do carry mostly high end tools for Germany and Italy. Nice to see a local business in Ames sticking around such as this one. 4 stars if the prices were posted on the products.

One of my favorite businesses in Ames. I haven't found anything yet that they don't have or can't get. They have some high quality tools, industrial gases, hardware, hydraulic hoses, and basically anything else you can think of from a machine supply/industrial supply/hardware store. The employees are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. It seams like they really enjoy a challenge. They also sell fire extinguishers and can perform annual fire extinguisher inspections. There is a reason that they are always busy. Do yourself a favor and buy a pair of knipex pliers while you're in there.

Tools, Bolts, bearings, hydraulic hoses & fittings, safety equipment, etc... On the rare occasion they don't have what you're looking for they can order it or they'll make some calls & get you pointed in the right direction. Great group of guys with a wide knowledge of hardware.

They always have what I need. It's pretty tight and crowded inside, but it has that neat small town hardware store feel. Very friendly and helpful staff.

People all over the area consider Hoekel's to be the first choice place for nuts, bolts and all associated items. The inventory is amazingly vast and the employees know what they're talking about. The prices are extremely reasonable. Best game around.

Best machine shop around. They know their stuff. They have a team of the most knowledgeable employees I think I've ever talked to. I always start here before shopping anywhere else for parts, machine tools, and small machine accessories.

Hokels is the go-to place in Ames for the more serious hardware and supplies you won't find at Ace or Lowes. The front room is tiny and you may have to wait in line, but this is the place contractors and professionals go for their tools and supplies. Staff is good. Parking is nearly non-existent, so there's that.

Love this store. Always someone there waiting to help you right when you walk in the door. If not it's only because they have multiple customers at once. Good prices too.

Hokel Machine Supply is my favorite. It feels like Cheers every time I walk in... because everybody knows your name. They will have what you need and if they don't, they'll find it for you. Nicest guys in Ames.

They sell all kinds of metal parts (e.g. springs, U-bolts, pipe bulkheads), O-rings, lubricants, and welding supplies (e.g. oxygen, acetylene, and helium cylinders). They also recharge and inspect fire extinguishers. Good prices.

They have just about any machining or fabrication hardware you can think of and every member of the staff that I have encountered knows what they are talking about. Prices are also competitive with Fastenal.
