I ve lived in Ames a long time, and during that time I thought a few times I d found an honest, reliable auto mechanic - only to be let down. Until Auto Truck Repair. They ve done excellent work on several cars of mine now, as well as my husband s work vehicles. They ve been honest enough to knock dust out of brakes and send us packing with no charge. I always refer people to this place, as finding an auto repair you can trust & depend on good work is difficult. I m glad we can rely on their services!Services: Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Air conditioning, Battery

This happened on a Tuesday while I was at work. A friend of mine had burrowed it while their vehicle was broke down. I called and explained what was going on, they got a truck truck in route in a timely manner. I was told it would probably be close to the following Monday before they could look at it which was fine with me and understandable for any repair shop. That following Monday I received a phone call with a list of what all needed replaced and by Wednesday it was done. Paid the bill Thursday and picked it up Friday. First time using a shop in Ames and I will recommend and/or use these guys in the future. Being a prior business owner myself I firmly believe good business should travel faster than bad business. Thanks guys!

This shop is the best around.Great work.Fast service. Fair prices. They will make you happy. I have been there enough times to recommend them. Edit.. 2 years later, 2021. They replaced my master cylinder. I told them I need brakes done front and back. I was wrong, they fixed it right. And I got mega brake at the stop. And I saved money. They are the best shop in Ames.

I'm not from Ames was just passing through and truck was acting up. They were on of the few mechanics I called that work on bigger trucks. (I have an 08 F450). They got me right in and fixed the next day. Very reasonable price very friendly and knowledgeable. I would strongly recommend these guys.

I have been going to Auto Truck Repair Center for over 10 years. They are always very respectful and reasonable.A great example was we brought our car in before a long road trip and asked them to look it over and fix anything that needed to be because we were taking a long road trip. Came back and they had replaced a few spark plugs, changed the oil, nothing major and said we were good to go. They could have given us a laundry list of items to fix but were reasonable. And the car ran like a champ on the trip!

Do not use this repair shop. I don't live in Aimes but trusted them to fix my daughters car. Transmission lines on her car broke. Dumped transmission oil on ground. They had the vehicle towed there for repair. They fixed the lines (I think) and took it for a test drive. Told her the transmission was slipping and was shot. She left, engine light came on and car had no power so she took it back immediately. Mike said to sell the car because the transmission is shot. After two days of trying to figure it out, I her to take it to the Chevy dealership. They actually checked the oil and put 4 quarts of transmission oil in it. Now the car runs just fine. Apparently they don't know how to check the fluid level and let her take the car without filling it with oil. Didn't even check it when she took the car back, just said the transmission was shot. Probably is now! When I called to tell Dave the manager about it, all he could say is "yep he should have checked it, not good":. No sorry, or offer to do anything about it. I'm not a mechanic and even I know to check the oil after it's been running!! Guess I shouldn't have assumed the mechanic knew to check.

We have been going to this place several years now and find they are reasonably priced and know what they are doing. We have 3 different vehicles they have worked on and all seem great in running and keeping up maintaining. I recommend trying them out.

They are the best - why would I go anywhere else? Quick turn around, just done what needs to be done and fair prices - what more could I ask for? Oh, and they're intelligent and friendly. The cherry on top.

Got a screw in my tire going across Hwy 30. They took my truck in and fixed it right away and for less then I was expecting. Very nice group to deal with.

They said my axle was going bad and come to find out they did some handy work to it and cut part of it so they could con me out of more money. Will never go there again and would never recommend it to anyone in a million years!
