This shop is absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to assist me in getting my transmission rebuild done. I took my suburban to a shop down the road in Valparaiso and got ripped off and taken advantage of. I was very leary when dealing with John and Alex because of my past experience at the other shop. Both John and Alex were very understanding and went above and beyond to make my truck run and drive properly. I would highly recommend this shop for any and all you mechanic needs. Also let me add that they will give a great warranty and stand behind their work. Keep up the good work Alex and John!

My new go to auto repair in Valpo. Alex has been great to work with and always provides excellent service. They work fast when servicing our vehicles and always provide an up front breakdown of pricing. Definitely a place I trust working on my car.

If I could give a zero I would. Extremely over priced. They removed the transmission and left the engine hanging with no support. Which in turn broke the motor mounts. And pulled most of the wires. Had no regard what so ever on the way they where to work on the car. When I advised them that the work was going to be done some and I was going to pick it. They said it would be ready for pick up. When I went to get it the transmission wasn't in the car. So when I asked the owner where it was. He was rude. Very inappropriate attitude acted with no respect for my car me. Said it's in the back I told him to get it. He said when he gets a moment while he sat on the couch drinking coffee. Two weeks later I got the trans and they damaged the casing the parts where all missed matched. Wasn't even for the car I. Took there missing all the bolts. Miss parts for the trans. This place is a rip off. DON'T GO THERE FOR ANY SERVICE. !!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!My mom came in with engine light on. She was told she needed new catalytic converter and strongly encouraged not to get the aftermarket one. She paid $2200 for it. After that, every few weeks they would call to check if the car is still running. Then when it stopped running, she moved to Chicago and took it to another mechanic and mentioned him that she changed catalytic converter and that it cost her $2200. Guy told her aftermarket part was installed and that it's not even a good one since it already started to rust - that was only few months after. When I called to complain and emailed, never got the answer from them.In short - they might have stolen perfectly good original catalytic converter from Toyota, sold it or used it on another car, then installed aftermarket one saying it's original and charging 4 times as much.DO NOT BRING YOU CAR HERE!

I highly recommend Valpo car care! I ve been going here for the past few years now and John and Alex have always gone the extra mile to make sure my car is running properly. Very friendly staff and always speedy service

Very thorough service through the diagnostic/estimate phase. Pricing is fair and quality of work seems to be really good. They are busy, so don't expect a 1-day turnaround. All shops are busy and backed up these days.Initial reaction is that quality of work is a big upgrade over "walk-in" places.

I've taken my car to Valpo Care Care for years. John and Alex are always upfront and honest. Their work is worth the price as I never had to bring my car back for the same problem. John and his team have worked on my old Jimmy to my new diesel truck. Good work guys!

Wonderful service!! So nice, friendly, and very communicative. I had a power steering issue and the part had to be ordered from the dealer. They were open about what time frames we were looking at and cost. So glad I went here.

Valparaiso Transmission is a wonderful Family Owned and operated business that is always willing to help you in times of need. Need your oil changed? No problem. Need you air checked in your tires? No biggie. Need body work? They can handle it. Hear a funny noise? They will figure it out. John and Alex work endlessly to take care of you and your vehicles. And Gail, Natalie, and Amanda will always treat you like family. I recommend Valparaiso Transmission to everyone with a need. Thanks to them I know I will be taken care of. Great Job guys!! Though the car was driving fine I had begun to have concerns about its transmission's very high mileage. Then after talking with staff at Valparaiso Car Care and Transmission the whole situation was made more understandable. Since it was for only routine maintenance repairs went quickly. Add to that I feel this was fairly priced. I appreciated greatly the care and attention my wife was given too. When picking her car up there was a thunderous downpour but to save steps they moved it so that she could quickly enter without getting wet. It's that kind of a place. Five stars for sure. Thus, despite the "transmission" in their name this was my surprising find of a fine full service auto shop in Valparaiso. I intend to go back for other things too.

John the owner and Alex the service manager are awesome. Kept in constant communication when I needed it. From Ohio to South Dakota and back best business I visited business wise. Going to the dunes was great, thanks for recommending.

This is where I take my fleet of vehicles to get serviced. The proof is in the pudding. '04 accord 311k, '05 accord 215k, '01 suburban 149k. '65 John Deere 4020... Oh wait, not that one.Anyhow, Alex, John and team are flexible, fair and honest. Perfect? Nope. But they own the outcome and make sure things are squared away. Good people, good service, family owned.

I have been going to Valparaiso transmission for years. Every time my vehicles go to them they are fixed well, all my questions are answered, and they are a great group. They have gone above and beyond for my family and through some difficult situations. I have never felt taken advantage of. I would recommend them to anyone. I have taken cars, vans, and buses to them. They take care of them all.

This is the only shop in Valpo I trust and I ve been going here for years. Alex has always done great work and is always transparent. He sends progress pictures as they work so you know he s never trying to rip you off or talk you into unnecessary repairs like other shops. These guys were awesome, diagnosed the problem, didn t give me any runaround, super polite and very professional! These guys even took my car to get my emissions test and passed immediately! Was quoted 3000 for a transmission rebuild. After they had it tore apart they haulted work unless 4500 was payed . Transmission lasted less than 6 months and 2000 miles. Warranty was not honored. Cooler was blamed. I am unhappy that the cooler was not diagnosed as the problem to begin with. No middle ground or help was offered. Took 4 weeks to diagnose, would not call back when they promised to do so.

Not happy, won't be back.Tells you he will call in an hour, eight hours later...tells you it will be done that day, a day later still waiting.Tells you done in an hour, three hours later still in the waiting room. And misses a part on the initial estimate so an extra $375. They just took for a test drive and it's not fixed, so have to get a ride home. Couldn't regret going here more. Will update when/if? I get it back.

Dude on phone was very rude and their pricing for just to look at a AC is ridiculous compared to other places! They charge almost 100$ just to look!! Other places include that! And when I talk to the guy about it he made me feel like I was ignorant

Zero StarsDo not buy a vehical from them. Within 24 hours of the purchase my vans check engine light came on about transmission failure. Would not accept the vehicle for money back and when they took it back to repair said nothing was wrong and no check engine light. Again within 24 hours check engine light came on about transmission failure. Very dissatisfied.

Alex is a great guy. Let s you know what he will be fixing and gives the price before he does it. Highly recommend going to him. One of the few mechanics you can trust.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. This place is run by crooks. They ve charged me for services they never performed, kept my cars for an extended amount of time unnecessarily, broken parts on my car and then charged me to replace them, the list goes on. They also treat their employees like garbage. Please do not take your car here.

Have used for many years. I have yet to return for a problem. My cars have always be returned clean. Office staff polite and willing to drop me off at home while car is in shop.

I don't know yet I just dropped my transmission off to get it rebuilt to have a shift kit put in and a the young gem was really knowledgeable
